Forgotten sign in password

I have forgotten my password to sign in. and when I click to reset it says I need a USB flash card. I do not know what kind to get or why I need this. I really do not want to use a password to sign in to the computer. Some one told me it need to be sent out for repairs. Any idea's on why I have to have this flash card and what it is exactly. I did check but there are so many I do not know what one to buy. This has windows 8 but I am not sure what bit. I know this is about a year old was boughten brand new from Best Buy and no I did not get any warrantees. any help would be great

Reset the password here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE36. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your new password. (This only deletes the account and your synced data from your device, not from iCloud. Do you need to sign into Mobile Me to recover your images? Then go to the page: "How to find your Apple ID password" and reset the password for the Apple ID that you used with MobileMe.
But if you only want to dismiss the "Mobile Me has ended" warning alert, then press the "Learn more" button when this panel is shown, after you lauch iPhoto and then open the iPhoto "Preferences > Accounts" panel. Remove Mobile Me from the list of accounts.
Afterwards open the System Preferences Mobile Me panel and sign out of Mobile Me.
If this does not work, you may have to retry it after disconnecting from the Internet and launching iPhoto without an Internet connection.

On your Mac, try to access your gmail account. There should be a link you click for "Forgot My Password". Click it and try to retrieve your password.

You cannot merge Apple ID accounts, that has never been supported.
You can contact the Apple ID Security folks per the listing in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and they can help reset security questions and get the account working.

My Macbook Pro has it's screws missing one by one and I knew my horrible nosy distant relative who has access to my apartment has been removing the hard drive to access the data. Does a) sign in password, b) Filevault offers protection?

I use Filevault now. But still is it safe ? Before it was only a sign in password. Answers appreciated .

What FileVault does in Lion and Mountain Lion is encrypt the whole hard drive, so if you don't type your user password when you start the Mac with FileVault, it's near impossible to access to the data because the hard drive can't be accessed.
In Lion and Mountain Lion, FileVault encrypts all the hard disk, so your files are safer than with FileVault in Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The thief will probably be unable to access to the files

There is no Thunderbird password. There is a password to your email account. You administer that password with your email provider. Go to their web mail or email help page and look for a link to reset your password.

How can I sign a password protected PDF doc?

I am trying to sign a password protected document, downloaded from a government site. I can use all button and drop-down menus and also validate the document but then, when I click on the line where I have to sign, there is only the cursor flashing and I cannot sign it. It seems that the document was created with version 8.1.7. and I have 11.0.02. Does anyone know what I have to do to sign this doc?
