Formatted search in Title to know BaseRef

Dear All,
I have an udf in the Title of delivery Note. My requirement is that I should get the base reference of it in this udf. Means the Sales Order No. I am trying to do it through automatic formatted search but its not happeing.
I am using the following query as
SELECT T1.[DocNum] FROM DLN1 T0 , ORDR T1 WHERE T1.[DocNum] = $[DLN1.baseref]
What might be wrong in the above one. Kindly advise.

Dear Prasanna,
Your formatted search is working perfectly when I am using COPY FROM funtion from Delivery to Sales Order. But when I am doing from Sales Order as COPY TO Delivery then the formatted search field in the delivery is not getting populated.
I have also made the approval as per my requirement but the problem is that if the user does the Sales Order and uses copy to Delivery then approval is not checking due to non populated of the udf field but when doing Delivery and using Copy from then as the udf is having the base ref nomber hence its working fine.
Please let me know how can I make it possible that if from Sales Order copy to is done to delivery then the udf would get the base ref number.

Formatted Search working Partially on SDK Field

I have a text field on the Service call screen called
"A"
I need the field to be updated with a value taken from the Item Master table, U_A field.
I have created my query as below,
SELECT I.U_A FROM OITM I
WHERE I.ItemCode = $[$33.0.0]
and set a formatted search on the field A in the Service Call screen to refresh regularly when the Item No field changes.
The Formatted search does NOT fire when the item number changes.
It fires only when I do Shft + F2
HOWEVER if I try the formatted search on a system field on the same screen such as the Description field, then the Item Number Change fires the formatted search.
Does anyone know of this resriction, or a workaround please?

Hi Felipe,
The problem happens when I use the formatted query on a text field I created using the SDK only. It works on any other SAP field.
as I mentioned, if I press Shift + F2 then it works regardless.
I tried this on the Item Master screen too with the same result. of course I changed the query to $[$5.0.0].
Threrefore I don't think it has anything to do with the query syntax , rather the SDK field.
in any case here is the code (vb6) I used on the Item Master

How to use "insert into & select" in format search

Hello,
I am just wonderring whether you can help me solve this issue.
I want to change the value of a field in the title area for a sales quotation. however, this field is not shown up on the interface.
For example, there is a field in the title area, "OQUT.Ref1". You actually cannot see this field from the quotation interface or any other doc. Now I want to update the value of this field.
What I am now trying to do is to create an field named "update" in the title area, use format search to update. the code for the command will be something like
Insert into $[OQUT.Ref1.0]
select $[OQUT.U_MFG#]
here, U_MFG# is UDF. as you may understand, I want to copy the value in the U_MFG# to the field of "Ref1".
However, when I run "Execute", it gives me error. I believe there is something wrong with the code of "Insert into $[OQUT.Ref1.0]
Does anyone know how to write the code?

Thanks both Suda and sagar. The reason I wanted to do this is because I wanted to have UDF info be shown on the MS word-templated quotation document.
As you know, when you click the word symbol, a word-templated doc will be generated. The client needs two completely different format of quotation printout. thus I plan to print one type from PLD and other type by clicking the Word symbol. but later, I found out that the UDF field cannot be selected on the MS word template, or only system fields.
Thus, the only way I can do is to copy the value from udf to some unused sytem fields and then show that system fields on the MS word template.
any idea do you have?
I wanted to tell SAP that It is not useful if the udf fields cannot be inserted into word template.

Addition of two rows values in table using formatted search

hi all,
i have created one UDF field in market document rows, now in AR invoice i need to add the values in the UDF fields of two rows, want to show it in anather outside UDF in title. kindly suggest me some query to track that.
Ex:- i had entered two items in rows and
for first UDF row i have given 20
for second UDF row i have given 30.
now i need to show sum of the two UDF in two rows in title UDF.
kindly give me some query used for formatted search to do this task.

To the best of myknowledge When you try to take the row value to the header the results of the Formatted Search are not consistent.
but for your interest, I am giving below the logic to work this out.
You need two Header level user fields. One to copy the row user fields value and the other to store the sum.
You can create a simple SQL "SELECT $[$38.U_UserFieldName] (substitute with row level user field name) and attach it to the first header level user field and make it Auto refresh on doc total.
Then Attached SQL "SELECT $[ORDR.U_HeaderUserField1] + $[ORDR.U_HeaderUserField2]"
The results could be flaky because the header user field takes the value of the active row and sometime it only considers the first row active though you might be entering the second row of data.
My recommendation would be to Use The Transaction Notification Stored Procedure for this by which you can be absolutely sure that the Header User field will have the sum.
Let me know if you need directions for this.

I have created 2 UDF's at title level in marketing document, and assigned Formatted search with query to it with auto refresh when posting date field changes. One UDF gets updated automatically and the other one doesnt.

I took the effort to understand you question but I am not quite sure if I have all the pieces of the puzzle yet. I can see Jeyakanthan has already grilled you with questions and you have answered all of them.
UDF1 - is this se to Auto Refresh - Refresh regularly - on Posting Date?
UDF2 - On which field is this set to Auto refresh?
UDF3 - On which field is this set to Auto refresh?
One thing to note when you have two fields with FMS and the second one dependent on the value of the first, the second one does not auto refresh because it cannot detect the Field change on the First UDF.
This is probably what you are experiencing.
If you don't mind I would like to understand the business reason for the 3 UDF's and what each one is for. There might be other options to look at to achieve the same result.

Formatted search - Service call

Dear All,
Im trying to write a formatted search on the Service call screen to retrieve the email address of a queue. The queue is in the general tab of the Service call. You can add user defined fields for the service call-title, service call -solutions, service call- activities etc.
I have added the userdefined field on the service call-title.
My formatted searches can access all the other header details on the service call but I cannot get the queue data in the general tab.

If I understand correctly you cannot add a formatted search on the queue field? If this is not so, let me know. If it is the Queue field, you must select the radial button to the left for the queue field to be active. I tested by doing the following:
1. Added a UDF on Title level called email (U_email).
2. Added a query - SELECT T0.[email] FROM [dbo].[OQUE] T0 WHERE T0.[queueID] = $[OSCL.Queue]
3. Added a formatted search to the email UDF and linked it to the query. Set auto refresh on field "queue"
This works 100% whenever I select a queue number.

Formatted Search for Sales Order

I setup a formatted search in Sales Order unit price field.
Condition required:
If Sales Order is copied from Sales Quotation, unit price remains as per Sales Quotation unit price, else formula to calculate mininum selling price appllies.
Here's the query:

Formatted Search - Restrict to Only One Customer on Activity Window

Hello Experts:
Am trying to create a formatted search to provide a suggested RMA Number on the Business Partners > Activity window in a UDF.
While in Activity, the user should get a list of ONLY the one customer they are currently working with. So if C0001 is being used in the Activity window, the list should show all suggested RMA numbers just for that customer of C0001, not any other customer.
When I use the following it shows all customers.

Istvan - that is the same as my SQL - just do not know how to show the $[$... correctly in this forum - it always goes to that http thing.
Gordon - tried to use your SQL but it gave me an error of "Internal Error (-1003) Occured [Message 131-183] every time I tried to click on the magnifying glass. However, due to your last line in the SQL it gave me an idea that eventually they were OK with - namely, the highest number to the top of T0.ClgCode...

Is there a way to NOT have the data from a formatted search highlighted

Hi all,
I have a formatted search that returns a big chunk of data, some comments that are then added to. When the fs is fired, it returns the data, but all of the data is highlighted so when the user starts typing they overwrite the data that was just returned. I know they could just hit the right arrow key or click their mouse at the end, but they don't do that half of the time. I also know they could use ctrl-z or undo when they do this, but they don't do that either. It would just be nice if they could fire the fs and when the data is returned, the cursor would be at the end of the data.
Any thoughts?

I don't think there are any options for you to change default system behavior like this. What you may do is to change your FMS logic to get only one record if possible. Post your query here if you can.

Formated Search: Auto refresh with two conditions.

I've created a Formated Search in one of my column.
I defined my formated search as :
- Auto refresh "When Exiting Altered Column" Item No.
- Display Saved Values.
Now how can I make it Auto refresh with two conditions?
- Auto refresh "When Exiting Altered Column" Item No.
And
- Auto refresh "When Field Changes" Customers/Vendor Code.
- Display Saved Values.
Is there any way to make it work?

Hi Bruce,
You could try this trick.
You need to execute SELECT1 in Col1 when Item No. column is altered or the Customer code is changed.
Then, in the Item No. column asign a new Formatted Search which selects the Item No. column value (Its value) when the Customer code is changed.
And in the Col1 asign a formatted search that acts when the Item No. column is altered.
I think this should do the trick.

How do i deduct dates using formatted search with a query

Hi Experts,
I would like to know how to get the date difference using query and formatted search. Below are the details:
1. I have created 3 Header UDF's composed of 2 Date type fields and 1 Quantity field.
2. The first one is for the Original Date, the next one is for the Payment Date and the Last one is for the No. of Days Lapsed.
What I would like to do is automatically compute for the number of days from the original date to the payment date. What query syntax should i use to achieve this?

It should be something like;
DATEDIFF (day, T0.[createDate], T0.[closeDate] ) as 'Aging' This is just an example. You may add your udf's instead of dates.

SQL Query -How2bring multiple results into one field using Formatted Search

Hi Everyone
i am trying to bring in the results of the field dbo.Lot_ITEM.LOT using a formatted search into a row level using the following query:
SELECT     dbo.LOT_ITEM.LOT
FROM       dbo.DLN1 INNER JOIN dbo.LOT_ITEM ON dbo.DLN1.ItemCode = dbo.LOT_ITEM.ITEM
WHERE     dbo.LOT_ITEM.ITEM=$[DLN1.ItemCode]
however the result of the dbo.Lot_ITEM.LOT field could be more then one value depending on how many lots are assigned for that item
(for example this query would be similar to assigning batch/serial numbers to an item being despatched - as you can choose multiple batches/serials depending on the quantities available and required and then move from the left to the right side of the selection window) if that makes sense!
is it possible to bring in the multiple results into one field? and how can i amend the above query to include this?

just to simplify it (as the query im working with is to do with 3rd party addons) i have used the serial/batchs field instead and used standard demo database fields from SBO 2005 sp01:

The above brings me the relevant results but when i change it to be used in a formatted search:

                dbo.ixvSerialNoFact ON dbo.DLN1.DocEntry = dbo.ixvSerialNoFact.SRI1_BaseEntry

i cant seem to get it to work - now this may be because the serial number is not allocated until teh record is added to the system, however when this happens i am unable to go back in and manually trigger the query as the delivery note rows cannot be selected!
i think as what im originally wanting an answer for is same as this example, im wanting to know if this is even possible?

Simple formatted search

Hi,
I'm trying to learn how to use formatted searches and SQL in SAP Business One. Can anyone give me some simple examples to start with?
For example, on AR Invoice, if customer (OINV cardcode) is X, a UDF field should be populated 'Y". If customer (OINV cardcode) is not X, UDF field should be populated 'N'.
Can you provide me the SQL code for the query to be used in the formatted search? Just looking for some examples to get started.

How do you know that $[$4.0.0] is OINV,cardcode(BP name on AR invoice)?
For example, if I want to use a different field intead (like Item No.) how do I know the paramater/variable to sue?
I guess $[ ] means a user input paramater(not yet saved to database)?

Search Formatted Search

Hi, I was trying to delete a query. However, it prompted that there is a formatted search for it.
So I can't delete it.
But I can't find where the search is.
Do you know where I can find the list of formatted search I have?
