Former client wants to install ARD as administrator

I tried to install ARD and received this message. "The Remote Desktop Administrator software does not match the installed Client software version. The Remote Desktop Administrator software must be upgraded on this computer." How can I remove client status so I can install program to become administrator?

If this is ARD 3.x, try this:
• Insert your ARD CD
• Open in Finder
• Right click on the Remote Desktop.mpkg and show contents
• Navigate to contents/installers
• Drag the RemoteDesktopAdmin.pkg file onto the workstation and install
• Run Software Update
• Upgrade to 3.1 admin
Otherwise, you'll have to completely uninstall ARD and then reinstall it. Follow these instructions for the uninstall:

    1) Confirm that you have ColdFusion setup and available to use.  ColdFusion is not a free product.  To use it on a production server, it will need to be purchased and installed OR one will have to contract with a hosting provider that includes it as part of a hosting package.

    I've replaced my powerbook with a new MacBookPro and I want to install ARD 2.2 that I bought earlier this year. However, it won't start up and I get a message saying that the software is out of date and to run the software update. I installed the 2.2 updater but still , no joy.     You need to set the Rosetta checkbox, but not enable the ARD client in System Preferences.
    If the ARD client is enabled in the System Preferences it will get launched when the machine is booted up, and in that scenario it does NOT launch under Rosetta (you can verify this by looking at it in Activity Monitor).

    Unless you installed the ARD administration application on the computers yourselves, all they'll have is the client. The ARD admin app is not included with Macs; it must be purchased from the Mac App Store. If you did for some reason install the ARD admin app, just remove it.

  • I, and my clients, want a VERY simple contact form hosting option...

    There's no need for us to have data collected and analyzed. No need for yet another hosting service to store data we'll NEVER use.
    I've already got a hosting service for my site. My clients already have hosting for their sites. None of us are willing to spend another
    dime to have a second hosting system for anything. Don't care. Don't want it. LOVE the Muse forms and the ease with which I can
    modify them to look the way I want them to, but that all adds up to jack squat if they don't work.
    All we're looking for is a simple contact form that allows users to fill in a couple of form fields, add a little message and hit send.
    My clients want to have at the most, about 5 different email addresses set up so they can keep the information organized a bit on their end.
    They may get at most about 300-500 emails a month at a peak time of the year.
    That's not too much to ask is it?
    I mean, if I use the "Upload to FTP host" feature in Muse, what's so hard about adding a bit of code that uses that server space to pass along
    a few messages to a mailbox?
    Can't we just set up a BASIC contact form that is just creating an email and sending it to an email address with a preformatted message based
    upon the form fields we add to the widget? Something like this:

    Phone: 555-555-5555
    Message: You guys are a great little company, thanks for being so swell.
    Dat be all we want yo! Hook us up mang!
    For $15 dollars a month that I'm paying to use Muse, there oughta be something like that in the form widget panel! Dang!
    Really have a bad taste in my mouth with this whole attempt to channel people into Business Catalyst... That might be great
    for some of your customers, but odds are, not really... The majority of Muse users are likely to be designers that want to have
    a bit more control over their clients image/brand, and want to have less painful ways of keeping up with the advancements in
    webdesign/development without having to learn new code crap every few months!
    So let's not be too greedy and accidentally paint some of your customers into a corner and try to get them to pay you more
    money for services they don't need, and probably don't want.
    I've recommended Muse to a few designer friends of mine, and their comments are all the same: Love Muse for the ease of

    Simple Muse Form Widget. Get on it! It would be VERY nice of you to do so!

    I do agree and have posted a few times on this. It would be nice not to be tied down with another hosting subscription. It would be better if instead of having to pay for BC hosting with different plan pricing they could have different pricing for Muse with different feature options. I would pay more for Muse to use the form feature freely on any server I choose because like you said the form widget is great for making really custom forms, but that ease of use should come at a cost because it is so sought after.
    I am getting sick of people wanting everything for free just because it is there and they want it so badly but think they shouldn't have to pay for it because it is not in their budget.
    Muse should have different tiers with different feature options and not force BC on users. BC is a great solution for people without hosting or users that are not familiar with setting up their own servers but for the ones that do have their own servers and are comfortable with using them feel tied down.

    When the computer was first set up you created an account and assigned a password to it. That first account is your admin account.

    You are asking about something hopefully no one has done for a decade ... installing desupported software on a desupported database on a desupported operating system on, perhaps, some antique server.
    Perhaps someone else kept their notes from back in the Jurassic period but mine were in a recycle bin many many years ago.
    If you really wish to do this I suspect you are going to be stuck doing it the way we did back then ... read the docs accompanying the installation files.

    According to your reply, i installed standalone versions of Forms & Reports (10.1.2.0.2)services on Linux suse 9. And it is working fine.
    Now my next requirement is that i want to create three environment on my Linux box dev, test and UAT. this one which i have created before i am using that environment as dev.
    Kindly provide me some direction that how can i create test and UAT environment on same machine which should point to different source files and databses.
    1. Do i need to install again standalone forms/reports services twice? if yes then how can i access them?
    2. Is there any setting in existing OAS configuration which can divert me to different sources and databases. i saw something like this somewhere

    I've just purchased ARD 3. Mostly, I'll want to use it from my office desktop machine, but when I'm on the road, I'll want to use it from my MacBook. Can I install it on both machines, and then have both machines as clients to each other?

    You need to purchase two copies to legally install ARD on two administration systems.
    Note that if all you need is to be able to control another computer, which is what most people want to be able to do from a remote location when it's only one computer, then ARD will be overkill. Look into the freeware VNC. That will give you control capabilities and not cost you anything. You can find VNC applications for Mac here. Most people seem to find Chicken of the VNC works well for them.

I installed it as an administrator user. I cannot find an updater for ARD Admin 1.0->1.2. Can anyone tell where I can find one should there be one?

    I managed to obtain from a colleague the update for Remote Desktop Admin 1.0 to Remote Desktop Admin 1.2 - it is on the Apple site 'somewhere'. Installed it and it works fine. I use it to control my 50(!) OS 9.2.2 clients with ARD Client 1.2.4 installed on them.

    I had my copy of ARD 2 installed and then installed a friend's copy of 3 to see the new features. I decided I didn't want to buy 3 and uninstalled according to two methods found here.
    ARD 2 appears to run fine, but when I try to connect to my other machines it returns a "can't connect" message.
    Any clues as to what needs to happen to make ARD 2 work after removing ARD 3?

    I also installed ARD 3 over two. When ARD3 is installed, it updates the client software on your computer to 3 which cannot be reversed to my knowledge. When I went back to two, it wouldn't let me use the program because I was still using the ARD 3 client software. Even when I created a package in ARD 2 to install client software on the computer, it wouldn't allow me to downgrade. Try finding some way to remove the new software and see if it will work then.

  • Browse in Bridge from Photoshop CC 2014 fails to open Bridge and wants to install new version

    Hey community!  I found a few similar posts, but couldn't find much of a resolution. 
    Last night I was working in PS CC 2014 and all was well.  Used Browse from Bridge in PS.  Everything is working fine all night long.  Get up this morning, return to work, click browse in Bridge, and Creative Cloud desktop client pops up and says something about installing a new version of Bridge and will get rid of my old version.  The first time I just though it was an update, so I said sure, install the new version.  Then, CC wanted to update a few other apps (PS being one of them), so I closed down everything, and let it update everything while I got a cup of coffee.  Came back and it looked like everything was finished updating.  So I went back to work.  Same thing happens again when I click browse in Bridge.  I tried going directly to Bridge's launch icon and THAT at least opened the application.  It was still open to the same folder I had been using the night before.  I double-clicked on the PSD I was supposed to be working on, and then Illustrator pops up and is trying to open the PSD.
    ***Ok, so I fixed the association problem with Illustrator trying to open the PSD.  I uninstalled my older version of PS CC last night after I was done working, which apparently broke the "file associations" in Windows.  I just had to go tell Windows to open PSD files with PS CC 2014 (even though 2014 has been installed since it's release and that's all I've been using)***
    Still can't get around the Browse in Bridge issue.  It is not a real big deal TO ME where I click to open Bridge, but it does seem like a bug that needs fixing.

    I have the same issue when trying to Browse in Bridge from Photoshop CC 2014. When I click "Browse in Bridge" in Photoshop CC 2014, the Creative Cloud desktop client window opens up and asks "Are you sure you want to install this version of Bridge"?
    Like you, I also thought it was an update so I clicked' "Yes, install this version" option.
    Bridge will launch from the dock icon I have set up, but not from within Photoshop CC 2014.
    Any solutions to this bug anyone?

    I doubt the license is affecting the performance - it might be a case of the software being too old for the machine.
    In any case, you can contact Adobe support thru chat and have them reset your activation count to eliminatre your doubts regarding the license.
