Forms 11g: Multiple applets same oracle session??

Hi,
I am developing an AJAX environment that integrates different technologies, including Forms 11g.
I need to open multiple forms within the environment, I'm calling to various forms and works fine.
But the problem is that it opens a database session for each applet that is executed.
Is it possible to have multiple applets with a unique session of Oracle?
Did you configure the Forms Service? With the Parameters to environment?
Thanks in advanced

That's a feature that would make the whole Forms Community happy. Not me, and most others B-)

My most wanted would be the same as #1 on that list: reintroduction Client/Server.
Anyway, as for the OP:
I am developing an AJAX environment that integrates different technologies, including Forms 11g.Are you looking for something like this?

  • How to build a form with multiple tables in oracle application express

    Hi everyone,
I have got problem in building a form with multiple tables.I have a main table with (20) columns and this main table is related to the other tables with the primary key-foreign key relation ship.My requirement is i have to build a form which has fields from many tables and all the fields are related to the main table using (ID) column. In that form if i enter ID field i have to get information from differnt tables.
Please help me to solve this (building a form with mutiple tables)
    Thank you
    sans

    Sans,
I am no Apex expert, but with a situation as "complex" as yours, have you thought about creating a VIEW that joins these 7/8 tables, placing an INSTEAD OF trigger on that view to do all the business logic in the database, and base your application on the view?
This is the "thick-database" approach that has been gaining momentum of late. The idea is to put your business logic in the database wherever possible, and let the application (Form, Apex, J2EE, whatever) concentrate on UI issues,

  • Forms Modules under 10g and 11g not the same!

    Hi
I 'am facing a prb with forms 10g at work, when I open a forms module with forms builder 10g, the items are all showing as radion button , but when I open the same forms module with forms builder 11g the items are all showing normaly as text item .
Could any one explain the prbs plz?
    Thanks

Are you trying to open a form that you modified with Forms 11g? If so, Oracle Forms is not backward compatible; meaning, a Forms 11g file can only be opened by Forms 11g. Even different versions of the same release are not backward compatible; eg, Forms 10g (10.1.2.0.2) cannot open a 10.1.2.3.0 file.

  • Can forms 11g work with oracle 9i database?

    Hi all,
Can anyone say if we can install forms 11g over WLS, using oracle 11g database for repository only, and activate/connect our forms to oracle 9i database?
    is this how it's done?
our production database is 9.2.0.4 on sun solaris.
    Please advise,
    thanks,
    Amit

It will work. Its just a Net 80 connection from WLS to the Oracle 9 database.

  • Forms 11g WLS on 9i db

    Hi all,
Can anyone say if we can install forms 11g over WLS, using oracle 11g database for repository only, and activate/connect our forms to oracle 9i database?
I know that is not in the compatibility matrix. But... I have to try.
    is this how it's done?
our production database is Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - Production
    Please advise,
    regards,
    Vitor Jr

It should work because your Forms session is simply making a SQL_Net connection to your database. Why do you have an 11g RDBMS for your repository but you run a production system against a 9i RDBMS. That seems a little backwards to me. Just my opinion! ;)
is this how it's done? How what is done?

  • Question about BC4J data tags, Oracle sessions and Locking!

    Hi ,
I have seen numerous examples of JSPs using data tags and in all the examples the data tag for the application module has the "username" and "password" harcoded in it.
    My questions are:
    1) For a stateful application should we be including the username and password in every JSP page. I personally believe that we should not.
    2) If we have a username and password in every JSP page will it not start a new ORACLE user session and if so will it not cause locking problems?
    3) If we don't hard code the username and password in every JSP page, will it reuse the same ORACLE session ?
    4) How do we avoid locking problems when we use data tags?
5)I can understand the inclusion of username and password in every JSP page if it is a stateless application but again Is there a way we can avoid hardcoding the username and password in every single page?
I would appreciate if some one can let me know if any of my assumptions are incorrect.
    JDeveloper Team/Juan any advice?

The username and password are optional. They can be provided via the connections.properties file. The multple entries for username and password don't mean that separate connection are made. The first time the ApplicationModule tag is encountered, your application instance is created. If you are running in reserved mode (look at your releasePageResources tag) the application instance is kept until your Http session times out. If you are running in Stateful or Stateless mode, you application instance is returned to the application pool and retrieved the next time you need an instance. Please refer to the application pool documentation and to the source in oracle\jbo\common\ampool provided in jbohtmlsrc.zip.

  • How to validate multiple lines which is exist in the form builder at the same session

    Hi All,
we are working on oracle Forms personalization to trigger the message at the point of saving multiple lines rather than requiring each line to be save individually. Currently the oracle form is allowing to user to enter two distinct lines that have same resource and basis type in BOM.
Currently the Oracle form is allowing to enter the duplicate combination and not giving any error message even we enter the same combination of data.
As per the customer requirement, they don’t want to validate the data while creating the records but when they try to save the form, in that case it should validate all the records at a time then need to display the appropriate message.
Customer don’t want to customize the Oracle standard form. Here we have only option to use form personalization or through custom.pll.
Any idea on how to validate multiple lines which is exist in the form builder at the same session as before inserting the record itself need to perform the validations for all the records.
Thanks for your help in this regard.
    Regards,
    Thirupathi

you can write a post script which will do the necessary tasks.
I mean, once you are done with inserting records into these tables, exeute another procedure which will insert these "extra" records, based on some logic.
you may not be able use DB trigger as it may generate mutating error or if you don't write it carefully, it will go into recursive loops as you are refering to same tables.

    Thanks.

From the last OATS release notes available in the C:\OracleATS\docs directory:
    4.1 Oracle Functional Testing/OpenScript
Oracle Functional Testing’s OpenScript scripting platform has the following system
    requirements:
    ■ Operating System (32-bit and 64-bit versions): Windows XP, Windows Vista,
    Windows 2003, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2.
    ■ Memory: Minimum 1 GB
    ■ System: x86, 32-bit or 64-bit processor, 2.6 GHz or faster
    ■ Disk Space: 4 GB minimum
    ■ Browser: Internet Explorer 7.x, 8.x., 9.x; Firefox 3.5/3.6, 6.x, 10; Chrome 27+
    (playback only).
    ■ Java Runtime Environment: JRE 1.6 minimum (up to build 38), JRE 1.7 (up to build
    11) .
So basically, it's not supported... Can you try with another JRE version?
As always don't forget to run OpenScript as administrator on W7/8 or equivalent

In addition to Craig's feedback consider the following:
If you did not read the system requirements and installation guide, you likely will have problems.
    http://docs.oracle.com/html/E25460_01/r2_fr_requirements.htm
<blockquote>1. Does your machine have a static IP address and/or the Windows Loopback adapter installed and configured?
    2. You indicated that you have 2gig of RAM. This is the minimum requirement just to install the product. It is very unlikely that you will be able to comfortably use the product with 2gig of RAM. Likely the performance will be so slow that processes will timeout before they can successfully start. You can actually see this occurring already - look carefully at the log info you posted.
Further, if you are also attempting to run an 11g database on the same machine, this will never happen. Having only 2gig of RAM will never support running the DB and the components of FMw, and the Operating System.</blockquote>

TRY WINDOWS . but what about linux then? is there any solution on this error?
i am not much used to front-end ( java i mean). i am Oracle DBA Actually n want to install n try Weblogic
    Kindly Help...

You can just copy the relevant parts (the ones marked with error). You can also look at the timing
when it happened the reports environment did not start.
From what i remember this could be a memory issue, standard every managed server (WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS) instance
is configured with 1024m bytes of memory.
What we did is first install a forms instance and after that a reports instance. After the forms installation we adjusted the
memory parameters in setWLSEnv (<middleware-home>/user_projects/domains/<domain-name>/bin). Look in this file
    for references to WLS_FORMS (something similar to: if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" = "WLS_FORMS" ] ; then).
Another thing which springs to my mind is, which products did you select. If you just want Forms and Reports
you can select just the following:
    - Oracle Forms
    - Oracle Reports
    - Developer Tools aan.
    - Management Components
    - Oracle HTTP Server
    and deselect the other options:
    - Oracle Portal
    - Oracle Discoverer
    - Oracle WebCache
    - Clustered (if you are not using clustering)
We also had to fix the following files (i do not think that you have to do this since your Forms did not show any problems):
    - (On Windows) Copy the file msvcr71.dll (FMW/windows/extra) to WINDOWS/system32.
    - Copy the file mod_wl_ohs.so (FMW/<operating-system>/extra) to <middleware-home>/as_1/ohs/modules.

  • Text field highlighting Issue in oracle forms 11g after migrating from 10g

We have migrated the oracle forms from 10g to 11g.
On 10g oracle form when I click on the text item then text item value gets hilighted in blue color but after converting same form(without making any code changes) into 11g version form when I click on then text item then value is NOT hilighted.
Could please help me why it's behaving different? Are there any configuration changes required at the application server side?
    Thanks

    christian,
    We have forms 11.1.1.2.0.
In oracle forms “text item value is highlighted When user clicks on text item” is controlled by form level property “KEEP CURSOR POSITION”.
This property is not working with JAVA SUN plug-in in forms version 11.1.1.2.0.
This issue has been fixed under Patch Set 2 (11.1.1.3.0). Please see below meta link.
    https://support.oracle.com:443/CSP/ui/flash.html#tab=KBHome(page=KBHome&id=()),(page=KBNavigator&id=(bmDocDsrc=KB&bmDocType=BULLETIN&bmDocID=1099499.1&from=BOOKMARK&bmDocTitle=Fixed%20Bugs%20List%20-%20Patch%20Set%202%20(11.1.1.3.0)%20for%20Oracle%20Fusion%20Middleware%2011g&viewingMode=1143))

  • Running multiple instances from same oracle home

    Hi Gurus,
I am preparing for OCA 11g examination. I had a question about running multiple instances from same oracle home. While reading the book I came across a statement about database control which says "If there are several database instances running off the same Oracle home, then each will have its own Database Control instance".
Now I assume that this statement implies multiple instances accessing the same physical database (which as per my knowledge can happen only in case of a RAC).
I am not able to understand how exactly can you have multiple database instances in a single oracle home. I have installed Oracle 11g on my computer whose oracle home is +"D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1"+; now this directory houses all the binaries (executables and folders like admin, bin, etc) for the oracle instance that I have installed (the instance name is ocp1). Now if I am to install or create another Oracle Instance (say ocp2) in the same home, wont there be a conflict of binaries of the two instances in the same home ?
Basically,it makes sense if db_1 folder is further split into multiple folders, one for each instance (for example, one for ocp1 & one for ocp2); each of these folders will then contain the binary files, libraries, etc for its own instance; but, this is not the case, here db_1 houses all the binaries directly under it ...
The other question which stems from the statement I mentioned above is that if having multiple instances running from same oracle home accessing the same physical database, can this arrangement be called RAC at all; or does RAC dictate that you cannot have multiple instances that are accessing the same database have to be installed on physically separate machines and so you cannot have two RAC instances (accessing same physical database) installed on the same computer ??
I hope my questions are not too much confusing ... !!
    Cheers,
    Sudripta

    Hello,
"If there are several database instances running off the same Oracle home, then each will have its own Database Control instance".This is true, and also means each instance will have its separate database (i.e. dbf files etc.) & separate DB Control. Usually in this case you create several instances on the same node.
Now I assume that this statement implies multiple instances accessing the same physical database (which as per my knowledge can happen only in case of a RAC).You are correct about RAC where several instances (usually running on separate nodes) access the RAC.
    More info:
    1 Oracle Home - 1 Database - 1 SID is possible.
1 Oracle Home - Many Databases - Many SID is possible.
1 Oracle HOme - 1 Database - Multiple SID is possible and this is called RAC.

  • Help! My  Oracle Form builder 11g can't conect Oracle database(11g/10g)

    I have installed
    1.Oracle Database 11g Release 2 Standard edtion
    2.WebLogic Server (10.3.3)
3.Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer (11.1.1.3.0)
after install I try run the test.fmx is ok!
But I want used form builder 11g connect my database 11g(installed at same host),
It connect appeared ORA-12154: TNS: could not resolve service name.
I search all about middleware folder in my PC , then find two tnsnames files and two sqlnet.ora
    the sqlnet.ora content is
    #==============================================================
    SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS)
    NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)
    #==============================================================
the tnsnames.ora content is(copy same content from oracle database 11g's tnsnames.ora)
    #==============================================================
    ORCL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = test1.XXX.com.tw)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl.XXX.com.tw)
    #==============================================================
The I update all of my PC's tnsnames.ora like above string, but it always not work
    somebody help me,thanks!!

    Ronald,
I was able to connect to a database with Forms 11g by adding an Environment variable TNS_ADMIN and pointing this to the directory where the sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora files are located. I was unable to find a Net Configuration Assistant in Forms 11g and placing a copy of .ora files in the /%11G HOME/NETWORK/ADMIN didn't work either. Only after I added the environment variable was I able to connect.
There might be a "More Appropriate" solution, but this is what worked for me. We are just now testing 11g, but are still developing with 10g R2.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig B-)
