Forms 6i forms path

I am developing a small application( a prototype) in Form 6i. Now I want to deploy it on various client machines.
There is a form named Mainform which calls a Menu for the application. Now the problem is that I have to enter the physical path in the MAinform ...where is the Menu form
located..like e:\demo\menu.frx. Now if the
application is deployed at client in the same path then it is fine else if
the path is changed then it doesnt work. Please let me is there any way by which I can the independence from the hard coded path or it automatically takes the path of folder where the .frx files are located?
Thanks in advance

Its not clear to me which platform you are operating on, but for WinNT I have found modifying the path variable in the registry to include the current directory as the first search location and deploying both .fmx and .mmx files to the same directory (without an absolute path specified) works fine. You may also want to do some investigation of the Project Builder tool if it is availble to you because it has the potential to automate delivery of applications. Modifying the Windows registry should undertaken only with care.
Hope this helps

  • Forms Migration Assistant - Forms Path?

    Hi,
I'm hoping somebody can help me. I'm attempting to use the Forms Migration Assistant and I'm having problems getting it to recognise attached libraries etc. Is there some sort of path that I can set to tell it where to look? I'm using 10gR2 developer suite and I'm using the assistant in wizard mode. I have tried setting the forms path in the registry and in the default.env file but this doesn't seem to make any difference. The only time I have had this working is if I modify the shortcut to the assistant to "Start in" the same folder as all of the libraries and forms which is less than ideal for our situation.
    Thanks in advance.

For anybody else that comes across this problem. Apparently, the regular forms_path should be picked up by the migration assistant however there is a bug with the GUI version of the tool that prevents this from happening. If you use the command line version then apparently the tool works fine.
However, if like me you intend to use the GUI version you can manually edit the frmplsqlconv.bat file to include your forms_path. There is a metalink note about this, the doc id is 454053.1

  • Address bar should not show form path

i have deployed application server 6i. When i login on some form through web.The login form path also displays on address bar. I want that address bar should not display on top either or not display form path.Do i have to configure application server for that or some other . Please give me solution

What do you mean by the login form path.
Could you perhaps post an example of the URL and indicate which part of the URL worries you? Or is it the fact that the URL itself is displayed? If it's the latter, then you will have to open the browser window from a link using a little bit of javascript to open a new window without address bar (and perhaps menu bar, status bar, etc). Just google for "javascript new window popup"

  • Do we need to include OLB (object library file) in production form path?

    Hi,
I would like to ask if a form being compiled that consist of record group defined in object library file (olb), do we need to release the OLB to production form path as well?

That depends on how you deploy your compiled Forms (.fmx) files to your production environment and how you copy the objects from the object library (OLB) into your forms. If you subclass the objects (the recommended method) rather than copy them, then the source OLB must be deployed so the source objects are found during the compilcation process.
If you deploy only the compiled executable (.fmx) files, the OLB source files do not have to be deployed to production.

  • Forms9i: FORMS PATH for locating libraries

    Hello,
I'm just beginning to deploy Forms9i in a standalone development workstation (there's only Developer Suite installed there).
I don't seem to be able to correctly specify the FORMS PATH for the libraries, that is, I keep receiving the message ORA-06508 (CANNOT FIND PROGRAM UNIT).
I set the FORMS90_PATH variable in DEFAULT.ENV to the directory where the PLLs are... Well, that's another thing, I didn't compile the libraries to PLX, I left them as PLLs? Would that be a problem?
I would appreciate any help you could give me.
    Thanks,

You can use PLLs thats ok. I would first of all make sure that the default.env file is being picked up . If you download filemon from www.sysinternals.com you can track what files are being opened.
You should also check that the Forms90_Path is not more that 255 chars (if it is it gets ignored - its a Windows problem).

  • Form path in call_form and compilation error and status bar.

my forms (developed in form 6i) give error when i run it in forms 9i. i have already compiled. with the form 9i.
the status bar is invisible when running in the browser.

    Hi:
When you call the forms in the subdirectories, you need to use the full path. Example:
    CALL_FORM('c:\forms\D1\some_form');
Of course, you realize that this makes your forms less portable and could in the future cause more problems than it solves. Is there any reason you cannot just keep all your forms in one directory and possibly use a prefix to manage them if they belong to different sub-applications?

  • Form path in the registry

    Hi all,
In my registry,forms60_path is set to c:\forms.
I have my main form in c:\forms and a bunch of files in the c:\forms\D1 and c:\forms\D2.
    When I call other forms from the main form, I do call_form('\D1\'||FormA); or call_form('\D2\'||FormB);
It is giving me FRM-40010 file not found error when I try to call the forms in the sub-directories.
    Is registry not understanding this?
How can I make this work without updating the registry?
    Thanks.

  • Web form path in hyperion planning

    Hi All,
I am trying to export dataform, but I am not able to find the path of the Dataforms(I noticed the path of the dataforms in some ex like C:Hyperion\Products\planning\Formname.xml).But I didn't find any xml file regrding this.
    thanks in advance..

    Hello,
The other thing you can try is to export the dataform you need with the FormDefUtil.cmd that is in Planning.
    In order to do this:
    +formdefutil [-f:passwordFile]import|exportfilename|formname|-all server name user name application+
An example of exporting a form would be:
    FormDefUtil.cmd export Form1 localhost admin APP1
"When you export data form definitions, the utility creates an XML file in the current directory and logs errors in FormDefUtil.log in the MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/epmsystem1/diagnostics/logs/planning directory. You can copy the utility to any directory and launch it from there to save files to another directory."
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Form - Path of the context field from the object pallate

    Hi,
I am trying to modify the standard adobe(MR_PRINT_INSERS) form as per the requirement.
There are many tables and fields in the context.
I want to know the path to which the the UI elements(library pallate) are binded.
I can see the field name in object pallate but the place from where that object is taken is not shown.
For Eg: I can see the field WRBTR in the object pallate of the text UI element of library pallate but I couldnot figure it out from which table of context they are reffering, as their are many tables in the context which have WRBTR.
Can you please let me know how to figure out exact path to which table the field is binded.
    Thanks & Regards,
    kiran Kumar K

    Hi Tamas,
I checked the mentioned form and, as this table is setted as TABLEROW and some of its cells are static, is not possible to change the column size in the layout or even though changing it directly in the XML file, cell by cell. I was trying it.
For example, choose the Cell6 of TABLEROW[0] and click on tab 'XML Source'. You will see this statement:
    <draw colSpan="3" h="16.3166mm" name="Cell7" w="22.225mm">
You can try to change the value 'colSpan' according to your requirement.
This table size is not modifiable because it was developed to it.
I believe that Diego's suggestion can help in this case, if you are having problems to print the entire table on the page.

    Lucas Comassetto.

  • Form path problum in menu

    hi every body
    i am using form 6i
i have on folder with name (abccompany) and in this folder i have further two folders one is (forms) and second one is (reports)
in form folder i place all my forms and menu mudules and in reports folder i place all reports now i want to call my reports through my menu modules
menu module is in paralel folde of menu dodule folde
please tell me how i resolve my reports path (first i go one step up and then reports folder path )
    thanks in advance
    ALLAH HAFIZ

Part of path can be expressed as global variable or can be taked in runtime dynamically:
    Ex.:
    :GLOBAL.APP_PATH:=substr(get_application_property(CURRENT_FORM),1,length(get_application_property(CURRENT_FORM))-(length(get_application_property(CURRENT_FORM_NAME))+4+5));
    or
    :GLOBAL.APP_PATH:='c:\abc\part1\';
    Run_Product(Reports, :GLOBAL.APP_PATH||'\reports\rep11', synchronous, runtime, filesystem, list_id, null);

  • Direct selection tool - how not to move the form/path?

This thing keeps me working my stress ball: when I touch a path with the white arrow I am always first in a mode where the path can be moved. But I want to move a nod or handle - is there a place where I can set this tool to never move or or to never select the whole path? I have the normal selection tool for that! I think I oversee something. Thank you!

    orangestuff,
Whichever way it works in each version should be consistent. If not, it may be time for a preference corruption removal, see the hint Move the folder here: http://www.bugge.com/Family-and-friends/Illy/illy.html
This may be a reversible test to see whether you are forced to use older ways in newer versions.

  • How to get absolute path of a form within the Forms

    Aslam o Alikum (Hi)
How to get absolute path of a form within the Forms 6i or 9i
    For example
    i am running a from "abc.fmx" from C:\myfolder directory
can i get the form path 'C:\myfolder' by calling any any function from "abc.fmb"

There is no direct call that will always work. What you need to do is call get_application_property(current_form). This may have the full path in it, depending on if that path was defined when the form was launched. If there is no path, then you need to use TOOL_ENV.GETVAR to read the Forms<nn>PATH and the ORACLEPATH, parse those out into individual directories and then check for the FMX in each.
I already have some code to do all this for you see:

  • Oracle Form URL with content root's children directories path?

    Hi All
In this case , we try to add children directories under default form path ( ex: Oracle_FRHome1/forms/DEPT_001/xx001_01.fmx  and Oracle_FRHome1/forms/DEPT_002/xx002_01.fmx  )
but there are so many children directories in our legacy systems, so it's not possible for us to add all path in server form_path variable
We try to call form directly in url
    such as : http://localhost:9001/forms/frmservlet?form=/DEPT_001/xx001_01.fmx
first error appeared with such error message : FRM-92190: JavaScript is unable to evaluate expression.
After confirm error message,  our form xx001_01.fmx still work fine
Are there any configuration file should be adjust in this case ?
    Thanks~

    Hi Tony
    Thanks for your response.
In this case , we have to many difference directories in legacy system.
FORM_PATH must be under some maximum length restriction and may exceed max length in this scenario
Is is possible to change AliasMatch in forms.conf for url pattern matching ?
    best regard
    thanks
