Forms and Java 7

Hi Forum. I know that there is no version of Forms certified with Java 7, the last post of Michael Ferrant in this thread is very clear: Forms 10g and Java 7 (1.7) problems (lamentably the thread is locked)
On the other side, the Oracle Java SE Support Roadmap (Updated September 19, 2012) states that the End of Public Updates of Java 6 is Feb 2013... but Oracle now owns Java, so it is not really "the other side"
My point is that the gap is adjusted and closing... If we use Forms we can not upgrade to Java 7 ... but in three months, maybe we NEED to move to Java 7 because there will be the only way to be actualized with security updates
Anybody knows what is the official position of Oracle in this matter ?
Thanks in advance
Alfonso

As Francois mentioned, Forms 11.1.1.6 is now supported with Java 7. We are also hoping that an upcoming version of 11.1.2.x will also support Java 7. Hopefully details will be released soon.
As for the desupport of Java 6, as long as you are using an Oracle product which has a dependency on any particular java version and that product is still entitled to support, the dependant java version will also remain supported in that case. In other words, because FMw (PFRD) 11.1.1 will be supported until sometime in 2014, we will continue to support the use of Java 6 if and only if it is used in conjunction with that specific FMw release for as long as the FMw release remains in support.
The dates for desupport of Java apply to end-users not using it in conjunction with other Oracle products.
Refer to these MyOracleSupport notes for more details: 952075.1 & 1470123.1
Because date and policies mentioned in this and other forums or blogs are subject to change at any time, it is always a good idea to refer to the official product documentation or contact Oracle Support if you have any concerns or questions. They can provide you with the latest information.

  • Forms and Java

    Hello,
    I have written a Java program that I want to call from a forms program. My form is written in the latest version of Oracle Forms Builder. My logic in the Java class is a common functionality that I want to use in many forms in my application. This functionality is written in Java because PL/SQL does not have functionality for that logic.
    By the way, I have an additional question regarding PL/SQL and Java classes. Suppose I want to write common functionality that accesses my database with SQL statement. Which technology is best for performance? Is it Java or PL/SQL? My guess is PL/SQL?!

    I have now found the FORMS90_BUILDER_CLASSPATH in the registry. I have added my Jar file at the end of the FORMS90_BUILDER_CLASSPATH like this;
    C:\OraHome_1\forms90\java\javacode.jar. Then I restarted my computer.
    My javacode listed in the jar file is not available in the import java dialog in forms builder. Is there something else I should do? The only thing that I have done is the changes on the FORMS90_BUILDER_CLASSPATH. Maybe it is something in my Java code? My Jave code is an common Java class with only standard Java import statements.

  • Generated Forms and Java Components

    I have seen many threads about enhancing forms with Java - including webutils.
    Our application is mostly generated from Designer (near 100%) and I was wondering how to include these java calls in the repository - which may well mean this is the wrong forum!!
    Basically if the code is enhanced with these java calls can it be entered in the repository for regeneration?

    Jon,
    good question. As far as I know Designer does not store Java code in its repository. However, the Java code alsways is held outside of Forms in a jar file which means that if you can set the implementation for an item class in Designer or add a Bean Continer to a canvas, you can use it with Designer. I am passing this question forward to somebody who know it better than me.

  • Web-enabled forms and Java

    We are developing a custom application using Developer 6. The application is web enabled
    using Oracle Application Server 4.0.7 and Developer Server on a Solaris 2.6. This application is an extranet for company use only.
    The problem that requires the use of Java is that we cannot read the client registry using web enabled forms. The solution I am told is to use Java to read the registry. Has anyone done such a thing? Can anyone provide suggestions or guidelines?
    Thanks for any help you can offer!

    do the following:
    1. write a java program that read from the registry. you will use the program as a javabean later on.
    2. compile the source and create a class/jar
    3. sign it (goto sun site for details on signing class/jars). you must sign the java program or it will not be able to have access to the registry. make sure you do all the steps by following sun's instructions.
    4. put it on your web server and modify the html file you use to start your developer application to include your class/jar.
    5. oracle has some demos on attaching javabeans to forms. use them to help you.
    6. use the program you wrote in step 1 as a javabean in your forms.

  • HTML form and java

    Hi,
    I have been pulling my hair out for the past week on this with no suces EVEN after forum searching, googling ..........
    Here is the problem:
    I have an HTML form of the following type and need to pass in a Javascript variable to the servlet called on hitting the submit button.
    <script>document.write('<form name="Test" method="get" onSubmit="return chkfields(this)" action="/servlet/NewServlet?ABC='+unescape(params["ABC"])+'">')</script>For debugging purposes, I have a document.write statement and I see it on the page right above that line and it does display it on the field. However this thing does not pass the varible to the servlet. I even tried replacing the unescape(params["ABC"]) with just the variable name used in the form as ABC and that did nto work either. Please suggest any other suggestions.

  • Forms 6i and Java Bean

    Hi
    I need to establish communication between my forms and java code.
    i have made a java bean and set the implementation class path(i.e the package path (oracle.forms.demo for the bean class)) in the form item.
    I want to know where exactly should put the java code or do i have to make modification in any of the environment variables to allow the forms to acces the java code.
    what exactly is a java class and do i need to have a wrapper class also to implement the java bean.
    please respond fast as i need this info urgently...any small info might prove fruitful
    Thanks

    Hello,
    All you have to do is to copy the .jar file that contains the Java class(es) in the <devsuite>/forms/java/ directory, configur the <devsuite>/forms/server/formsweb.cfg file to add this jar file to the archive_jini tag to indicate where Forms have to load the classes:
    archive_jini=frmall_jinit.jar,...,my_jar_file.jar
    Then after, you have 2 possibilities:
    - the bean does not have any "screen" representation so you can just handle its functions with the Forms internal FBean package functions (no need to put implementation class on the bean area item property)
    - it has a screen representation, so you put its implementation class like you did, and you set its properties with the Set_Custom_Property() built-in and get its properties with the Get_Custom_Property() built-in.

  • Convert Oracle Forms into Java (swing & JSP's)

    Dear All,
    We are currently in the process of evaluating our upgrade of system, which is using forms 4.5. One of the options we are considering at this stage is converting all forms into Java program. I am currently doing some pilot work on this project. I am using FormsWizard, a product of InformatikAtelier Gmbh, along with Forms 6i and Jdeveloper 9i. Has any one done this before in this group? Your assistance is much appreciated.

    Grant, Thanks for that mail. It was very useful article. The article has lots of brilliant points consider. I may have to discuss with our System Architect. With my experience in both forms and Java, it is hard to justify the business benefit out of this conversion. We are a strong Oracle house and have no intention of moving towards J2EE at this stage.. Thanks once again.

  • Migration MS ACCESS FORMS and Reports to Oracle (Java or Forms or Reports)

    Hello ,
    can someone tell me, how i can migrate a whole MS ACCESS 2000 mdb (with forms and Reports) to Oracle.
    I think i have first migrate the Access DB with the OMWB to Oracle and in the next Step to convert the VBA Code to JAVA or Forms9i.
    BUT Is there a tool available for Migrating VBA code like the OMWB ????

    I don't know if this is an obvious question, but do you have MS Access 2k installed on the machine you are trying to run this from? I'm assuming yes.
    If you do and there is still a problem, you should log a ticket for support who will take your mdb and help out with the issue for you.
    Many thanks

  • Can we call a workflow form a JSP and/or form a Java Class?

    Is it possible to call a workflow form a JSP and/or form a Java Class?

    Below is some xpress code I wrote once, used to dynamically lauch workflows from within a workflow. Since it basically uses java classes, you reuse these in your java program or jsp:
    - create a new generic object
    - call the setId, put, ... methods on it
    - set the input variables for the workflow by putting them into the generic object
    - call the checkinView method on a LighthouseContext object which launches your workflow.
    If all you need is starting a workflow from a jsp, you might also want to take a look at the tasks/taskLaunch.jsp jsp. This is an out of the box jsp which allows launching of tasks. If I remember correctly you have to give an url parameter which specificies the name of task you want to start: tasks/taskLaunch.jsp?id=<workflow-name>

    Hi Jyothi,
    Herewith I had Explained detailed Procedure,
    For Dropdown,
    1.     Create a node and attribute to the dropdown ,
    2.     call the bapi,
    3.     Assign the Bapi attribute to the Dropdown node attribute
    4.     Place the Interactive form UI to the Java Application
    5.     Create an another  attribute for read the interactive form
                  a.Name: pdf_src
                  b.Type :byte, Assign this attribute to PDF Source property of the Interactive form UI Element.
    6.     Give the Name to the Template source property of the Interactive form UI and double click the        template source.
    7.     It asking Name for the Interactive form, Give the name for that
    8.     Once give the Name, It ask context for Adobe form, assign the already created node for dropdown in Webdynpro application to the interactive form.
    9.     Now Context Bounded with Webdynpro and Interactive form
    10.     Interactive form screen will be open into the studio
    11.     Place the Dropdown UI element  to the Interactive form and bind the attribute to the dropdown
    12.     Select the Dropdown UI Element, go to the object property, Click the Specify Item values. The pop window displayed, here give the $ value to the Item Text, Item value. The Data Connection dropdown and Default Binding , it has value when the attribute bounded to the dropdown UI .
    13.     Save and Test the Application
    For Value Help,
    1.     Do the Same Procedure for up to 10 steps,
    2.     Place the Text field UI and Value Help UI Element
    3.     Select the Value Help, go the Script Editor give the name of the text field attribute name in var fieldName = "*INSERT_NAME_HERE*";

    What I want is to execute this code into my form, in a when-new-block instance trigger or something else.
    How can I achieve this???
    Thanks all for collaboration,

    It isn't quite as simple as just "importing" your java code if your goal is to have the forms and the java app communicate with each other. Interaction occurs when a properly designed Java Bean is created.
    Take a look at some of the examples on the following page as they can likely provide you with a good starting place:

  • Popup menus in Forms 10g and Java Bean

    Hi all.
    What class in Java corresponds with popup menus(not in menu module) ?
    I know that oracle.ewt.lwAWT.lwMenu.LWPopupMenu is corresponds with MenuBar's submenu. I can find Buttons, Text Fields, Menu and other components in my Form-Applet, but I don't know how to find popup menus in forms through Java Bean...

    Hello François,
    I have created a java bean that dynamically creates a popup by left-clicking on the bean.
              Set_Custom_Property( 'BLOCK.BEAN', 1, 'ADD_ITEM', 'Item' ) ;
              Set_Custom_Property( 'BLOCK.BEAN', 1, 'ADD_SEPARATOR', '' ) ;
              Set_Custom_Property( 'BLOCK.BEAN', 1, 'ADD_ITEM', 'Item one' ) ;
              Set_Custom_Property( 'BLOCK.BEAN', 1, 'ADD_ITEM', 'Item two' ) ;
    My problem is the layout. I want to simulate a button. I can't put the bean transparent over a button and I can't simulate a button with the bean.
    How can I add the popup functionality to a button and not only to the bean? Or any other workaround?

    hi user ...
    on windows there are some steps in front of installation and configuration.
    1) cleare the Windows Env (Path .. Programme x86 )
         no Blank in Path and so on
    2) insert into your local host file your server and IP Adress
    3) in Windows 32 setup of WLS is JDK included so you don't have to install the jdk in front of WLS
    4) verify if you are using the right installation medium (jdk 32 bit, wls 32 bit , fmw 32 bit
    in your OraInventory/logs directory is a *.out file for your installation please can you put this file in the forum
    is there a nodemanager up and running (if so please stop)
