Forms based Query

I have created a control block and on the new block instance I have written the following query using reference cursor
DECLARE
TYPE t1 IS REF CURSOR;
r1 t1;
v_rag_soc_fornitore VARCHAR2(30);
V_societa_for VARCHAR2(2);
v_num_sped NUMBER(6);
v_prg_sped NUMBER(2);
v_num_bolla NUMBER(6);
v_data_bolla DATE;
ec number;
     v_where varchar2(4000);
BEGIN
OPEN r1 for
SELECT DISTINCT rgs0af rag_soc_fornitore

AND EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM or1a1ba WHERE soc1ba=soc1bb AND nrd1ba=nrd1bb AND tor1ba=tor)
AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM bl1a1bc x WHERE x.soc1bc=societa AND x.dbu1bc=dbu2cc AND x.nbu1bc=nbu2cc);
--order by num_sped,prg_sped ;
     FIRST_RECORD;
LOOP
     FETCH r1 INTO
     v_rag_soc_fornitore ,V_societa_for ,v_num_sped ,v_prg_sped , v_num_bolla , v_data_bolla;
IF r1%NOTFOUND then
EXIT;
END IF;
     :BLOCK11.RAG_SOC_FORNITORE_TXT := v_rag_soc_fornitore;
     :BLOCK11.SOCIETA_FOR_TXT := V_societa_for;
     :BLOCK11.NUM_SPED_TXT := TO_CHAR(v_num_sped);
     :BLOCK11.PRG_SPED_TXT := TO_CHAR(v_prg_sped);
     --:BLOCK11.NUM_BOLLA_TXT := to_char(v_num_bolla);
     :BLOCK11.NUM_BOLLA_TXT := (v_num_bolla);
     MESSAGE(:BLOCK11.NUM_BOLLA_TXT);
     MESSAGE(' ');
:BLOCK11.DATA_BOLLA_TXT := v_data_bolla;
NEXT_RECORD;
END LOOP;
FIRST_RECORD;
END;
I am passing the parameter P_sup_code from the first form (say 005598). And the global variable :GLOBAL.NUMBOLLA has the values like 801241,801242,801243,etc. The global variable is passed from the first canvas of the second form to the second canvas.
I am not able to display the values obtained from this cursor on the control block and I am getting the error ORA:01722 . I analysed this code but it shows the error due to the Global variable. which I have used in the query.
Kindly help me in resolving this issue and let me know for the modification that needs to be done.
Thanks,
gobinath

Gobinath,
Why are you assigning each item of each row manually through a CURSOR LOOP? Based on the provided code sample, I don't see why you have not based your Block on a Base Table. You could simply create a View on the database and then base your Data Block on this view. Then you simply need modify the DEFAULT_WHERE clause of the data block to filter the data as you need it filtered. If you are unable to create a view on the database - for what ever reason - then I would recommend you base your Data Block on a From Clause Query. To create a From Clause Query set the Block Property "Query Data Source Type" to "FROM clause query" and set the "Query Data Source Name" to your SQL Statement. A From Clause Query allows you to specify the SQL Statement that supports your Data Block. You can still use the WHERE Clause block property to filter data or you can tweak the query itself by reading the QUERY_DATA_SOURCE_NAME property using GET_BLOCK_PROPERTY() built-in. I recommend using the WHERE Clause property of the block.
It is always far better and far easier to allow Forms do most of the work for you. Displaying data in your form as you are doing is unnecessary and very slow as well.
As for parsing the Global Variable with embedded Apostrophes, I agree with Remco in the use of the INSTR function.
Hope this helps.

  • Add a form (based on query) to a form (based on table)

    I have a normal form based on a table. I want to put in a little form in a region of this first form that is based on a query. They have one field in common.
    How can I do this?
    Elsie

    Hi Elsie,
    Effectively, you want to end up with a single form and save the data back into two or more tables?
    If so, you could base the entire form on a SQL view and use an INSTEAD OF trigger to update the underlying tables.

  • Forms based on query?  Is it possible in Oracle Portal?

    here is my code that i want to use
    SELECT a.first, a.last, b.Position_CD, c.skill_cd, d.team_name, d.team_country, d.club, e.structure_name
    FROM Roster a, Roster_position b, roster_skill c, team d, team_structure e

    order by a.roster_id;
    Is it possible for oracle portal to support such a query in a form?
    Oracle portal supports single tables or views...master-detal...and forms based on procedures.
    Since the above query associates with moro then one table..how might one create a form based on that query? Is their a way in oracle portal to create a form and have its record source be based on such a complex query and be able to update and insert data? I know and have tested that it works in Ms Access and i can update and add data in that above query. Hopefully oracle supports this. (*cross fingers*)
    If i cant do what i said above...what advice or suggestions you guys have for me? If i use master-detail it won't work right because i need to involve all 5 tables.
    Any help or comments are greatly appreciated!

    When i made the above query a view and created an oracle portal form. I get this error when I try to retrieve all the records in that view i made above.
    An unexpected error occurred: ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from a join view without a key-preserved table (WWV-16016)
    What does the "key-preserved table" mean?

  • How do I open up a form based on a query/parameter

    Can someone please tell me how can I open the form based on a query and the query is based on a pre-set value. Thanks.
    I am new to Oracle Form. Please treat me like a newbie. Thanks.

    Hi,
    If I understand u , you want to call a form
    and execute query automatically with preset value.
    Is that what you mean?.
    1.suggestion: You can use the call_form, or open_form .
    check all parameters like "auto query" and so on.
    (see help-online for parameters to pass for call_form, open_form....)
    2.Suggestion: In the pre-query trigger set the value.
    in the When-new-form-instance
    write this code:
    Begin
    execute_query; -- built-in procedure
    end;
    I hope this gives you an idea,

  • Query forms based on detail block

    My question is pretty simple: Is it possible to query a form (Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.11.3) based on a detail block? Let me explain my problem! I have a table called REQUISITION and of its field is STATUS_CODE. Then I have another table called STATUS that have the following fields: CODE, NAME, DESCRIPTION, PHASE, etc. The join condition between REQUISTION and STATUS is REQUISITION.STATUS_CODE = STATUS.CODE. On my form, all of the fields come from table REQUISITION but the problem is that we have over 30 different status and my user can't remember their names and phase. So I inserted two display fields on the forms and wrote a post-query trigger to populate the field with their corresponding names and phases. But now my end user are complaining that the fields don't allow queries to be performed which prevents them to use a query to know all requisitions that are on phase "Procurement" which corresponds to four different status_code. So I though in inserting the fields PHASE and DESCRIPTION into table REQUISITION and write a trigger that would populate those field every time the STATUS change but that would cause a problem when lets say STATUS 01 is part of PHASE "Procurement" then comes next week the company decides that is not longer part of phase "Procurement" but now it is part of PHASE "Purchasing" they would go the form based on table STATUS and change the field PHASE of the corresponding STATUS that they want. But now I have this data on another table holding information that is no longer valid. Sure I could write another trigger to change field REQUISITION.STATUS_PHASE whenever there is a change on STATUS.PHASE but wouldn't that be too much bookkeeping? Would be so much easier if I could query my forms based on the detail block (this case table STATUS and master block table REQUISITION)?
    thanks so much in advance for any thought! Btw, I am open to other suggestions too!!!!!
    gleisson henrique

    if I understood you correctly, you can do this manually. what I mean is,
    when the end user picks phase "Purchasing", you can change the where clause on the master block and execute the query to get the desired results
    e.g.
    v_cod varchar2(200) := 'STATUS_CODE in (select code from status where phase = ''Purchasing'')';
    begin
    set_block_property(requisition_blk,default_where,v_cod);
    execute_query;ofcourse you have to change "Purchasing" in the previous code to the item that holds the user inputs
    hope this is helpful

  • Problem in tabular form based on dynamic view and pagination

    Hi All,
    I have a manual tabular form based on a dynamic view. The view fetches the records based on search criteria given by the user in all cases. But this view fetches ALL records when user clicks on pagination, without considering the search criteria. This is the problem I am facing.
    I am doing the following:
    Since tabular form does not support pl/sql function returning query, I cannot use a table directly. I need my results based on search criteria selected by user. Hence I created a dynamic view and used a "INSTEAD OF UPDATE" trigger to update the table.
    I use a set bind variables procedure, on load before header for setting the variables.
    This view fetches the correct data based on user search always. It creates a problem only in one situation, when using pagination in the report.
    The example can be found at:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=19399:1:
    username = [email protected]
    pwd = kishore
    Here if "manager name" is entered as test, we get 5 records in "Summary of requests" report and 5 records in "Inactive Requests" report. When user clicks on Pagination in any of the reports, ALL the 7 records get fetched in "Summary of Requests" and 6 records in "Inactive Requests". How can I overcome this problem?? The report must consider the search variables even when pagination occurs.
    Is this because, the inbuilt "html_PPR_Report_Page" executes the region query once again by considering all search variables as NULL?
    Backend Code is at:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/
    workspace: sekhar.nooney
    Username :[email protected]
    pwd: kishore
    application id = 19399
    My region code is something like:
    select *
    from regadm_request_v
    where access_type = :F110_REGADM
    and status <> 'INACTIVE'
    order by request_id
    My view code is:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW REGADM_REQUEST_V
    AS
    SELECT *
    FROM REGREGOWNER.REGADM_REQUEST
    WHERE upper(employee_name) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_EMPLOYEE_NAME),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(manager_name) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_MANAGER_NAME),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(employee_sunetid) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_EMPLOYEE_SUNET_ID),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(manager_sunetid) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_MANAGER_SUNET_ID),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(request_date) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_REQUEST_DATE),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(USAGE_AGREEMENT_RECVD) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_USAGE_AGREMNT_RECVD,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_USAGE_AGREMNT_RECVD)),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(STATUS) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_STATUS,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_STATUS)),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(REQUEST_APPROVED) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_REQUEST_APPROVED,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_REQUEST_APPROVED)),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(nvl(APPROVAL_DATE,sysdate)) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_APPROVED_DATE),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(APRVL_REQUEST_SENT) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_EMAIL_APPROVERS,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_EMAIL_APPROVERS)),'%')||'%'
    AND upper(NOTIFY_APPROVED) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(DECODE(REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_APPROVAL_NOTIFICATION,'~!@',NULL,REGADM_REQUEST_PKG.GET_APPROVAL_NOTIFICATION)),'%')||'%'
    I would be glad for any suggestions.
    Andy/Varad any ideas? You both helped me a lot on my problems for the same application that I had faced before in More Problems in Tabular form - Please give me suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Sumana

    Hi Andy,
    The view and the package for setting bind variables work properly in my entire application other than the pagination. A pity that I came across this only now :(
    I have used this same method for holding variables in another application before, where I needed to print to PDF. I used this approach in the other application because my queries were not within the APEX character limit specified for the "SQL Query of Report Query shared component".
    In this application, I initially had to fetch values from 2 tables and update the 2 tables. Updateable form works only with one table right? Hence I had created a view. Later the design got changed to include search and instead of changing the application design I just changed the view then. Still later, my clients merged the 2 tables. Once again I had just changed my view.
    Now, I wanted to know if any method was available for the pagination issue (using the view itself). Hence I posted this.
    But as you suggested, I think it is better to change the page design quickly (as it would be much easier).
    If I change the region query to use the table and the APEX bind parameters in the where clause as:
    SELECT *
    FROM REGADM_REQUEST
    WHERE upper(employee_name) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(:P1_EMPLOYEE_NAME),'%')||'%' .....
    I also changed the ApplyMRU to refer to the table.
    Here the pagination issue is resolved. But here the "last Update By" and "Last Update Date" columns do not get updated with "SYSDATE" and "v(APP_USER)" values, when update takes place. Even if I make the columns as readonly text field, I am not sure how I can ensure that SYSDATE and v('APP_uSER') can be passed to the columns. Any way I can ensure this? Please have a look at the issue here: http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=19399:1:
    I have currently resolved the "last update" column issue by modifying my view as:
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW REGADM_REQUEST_V
    AS
    SELECT *
    FROM REGADM_REQUEST
    I modified my region query to use APEX bind parameters itself as:
    SELECT *
    FROM REGADM_REQUEST_V
    WHERE upper(employee_name) LIKE '%'||nvl(upper(:P1_EMPLOYEE_NAME),'%')||'%' .....
    And I use the "INSTEAD OF UPDATE" trigger that I had initially written for update. The code is:
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER REGADM_REQUEST_UPD_TRG
    INSTEAD OF UPDATE
    ON REGADM_REQUEST_V
    REFERENCING NEW AS NEW OLD AS OLD
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    UPDATE REGREGOWNER.REGADM_REQUEST
    SET MANAGER_EMAIL = :NEW.MANAGER_EMAIL
    , EMPLOYEE_EMAIL = :NEW.EMPLOYEE_EMAIL
    , STATUS_UPDATE_DATETIME = SYSDATE
    , USER_UPDATE_ID = (SELECT v('APP_USER') FROM DUAL)
    WHERE REQUEST_ID = :OLD.REQUEST_ID;
    END;
    Please let me know how I can resolve the "last update" column issue using the table itself. (Just for my learning)
    Thanks,
    Sumana

  • Form based on Front End (Form based program Unit -Stored Procedure)

    Hi
    I have a form based on a front end package.
    Package spec:
    PACKAGE fpkg_csm_stud IS
    type stud_rec is record
    (s_id student.s_id%type
    ,s_last student.s_last%type
    ,s_first student.s_first%type);
    type stud_ref_cur is ref cursor return stud_rec;
    type stud_rec_tbl is table of stud_rec index by binary_integer;
    procedure sp_student_query(iotb_query IN OUT stud_ref_cur)
    END;
    Package Body
    PACKAGE BODY fpkg_csm_stud IS
    procedure sp_student_query(iotb_query IN OUT stud_ref_cur)is

         open iotb_query for
              Select s_id
              ,s_first
              ,s_last
              from student;
    end sp_student_query;
    END;
    I have a datablock, STUDENt based on "fpkg_csm_stud.sp_student_query"
    When I query the form I get an error, FRM-40505, on 9iAS.
    However, if I created the same package as a stored database object, and based my form datablock on the database stored procedure everything works fine. I cannot find a reason why.
    I know that forms can be based on front end based procedures OR backend based procs. Dont have a clue here, any help is great.
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Hello Vijay,
    as far as i know there is no way to base a block on a 'front end stored procedure',
    assumed that you mean a package in a library or form.
    But what should be the reason for doing so, or the other way 'round why not just use a database package?

  • Help: FORMS based on stored procedures

    I am working on a FORM based on stored procedures. This particular FORM performs a query and generates say,
    customer_name, item1_sale, item2_sale and sum of the item1_sale and item2_sale.
    I'd like to know if there are ways that the query procedure returns to reference cursors that one with multiple records and one with the sums? The FORM will then be able to show rows of sales and the bottom row with show the sale totals.
    Thank you in advance.
    Jimmy

    Francois,
    I just tried another way of getting the totals. I manually created a data block and add two items tot_1 and tot_2. I the item properties: I set calculation:
    calculation Mode: Summary
    Summary Function: Sum
    Sumary Block: BLOCK_A
    Summary Item: item1_sale etc.,
    I got a compile error:
    FRM-30377: Summary item must reside in single-record block or in same block as summarized item.
    Where do I catch this error?
    Thanks.

  • Open Form Based On A Table in same window

    Hi All,
    First to make things clearer I'll explain what I CAN do:
    Create a page which queries a session variable at the start and then
    depending on its value outputs different HTML, but always in the same
    format and more importantly the same window, to keep the look and feel etc...
    I have a link in a page which when clicked opens a form using wwa_app_module.link
    so it auto queries the form. This works fine.
    What I CAN NOT do is:
    The form was created using the "form based on a table wizard" and always opens
    in a new window.
    Can I make the form open in the same window that contains my wwa_app_module.link?
    Is this possible in a newer version that I have (I got Release 1)
    Any Suggestions?
    Cheers,
    Barry

    Firstly thanks Rahul Dubey for responding.
    What I mean by " contains my wwa_app_module.link? " :
    I have a form which contains a link similar to the one below:
    http://xxx.co.uk:8015/pls/pod130/PORTAL30.wwa_app_module.link?p_arg_names=_moduleid&p_arg_values=1389245486&p_arg_names=EMPNO&
    p_arg_values=7654&p_arg_names=_empno_cond&p_arg_values=%3D%3E
    When I click on this link it opens the form and runs a query automatically.
    The problem is I want to click on the link and have the form appear in the
    same window, not a new one.
    Cheers,
    Barry

  • Developering ADF form in query mode (Oracle forms simulation)

    Hi,
    we have a requirement for developing the existing Oracle form using Oracle ADF. The existing Oracle form displays the form in query mode by default. We can enter the search criteria in any of the text fields and then execute query to get the results. If the user does not enter any search criteria, then the form loads specific record based on default criteria into the form. Could you please help developing similar form using ADF.
    At present I created the view object with one bind variable and dragged the view as ADF form to the jspx page. Then I am launching the form in query mode (executing the find method on the view object using operation binding at the time of loading the page). After entering the query criteria in the form, If I click on a button I am executing a method in the managed bean. In the managed bean I am executing the "Execute" operation on the view and it is working fine.
    But my problem is if the user does not enter the search criteria I have to pass default parameters to the view object and return the default record in the form.
    Can you please help in resolving the issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    S R Prasad

    Hi Frank,
    Thank you for providing information. I created the query panel with the table by dragging all the named criteria. But this is not the look we are expecting for this form. As we have to deveop ADF form with the same behavior as oracle forms, the user must be in a position to edit the data in the same field as that of query field.
    As an example, we have to design a form for Dept table. We have to display all the columns of the dept view in the form at the time of launching the form in query mode. Once the user enters any search criteria in the form, we have to perform search and display the record(s) matching the query criteria in the same columns displayed in the form. User should not see any changes in the form layout.
    If the user does not enter any data in the form, then we have to display the record(s) in the form with the specific department id(This department id can be calculated based on the data in another table).
    Can you please help us in resolving the issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    S R Prasad

  • Dynamically change the value of a select list in form based on a table

    Hi Friends,
    I am using a form based on a table. I want to display two fields as select lists instead of text boxes and when a value
    in a select list is selected, the corresponding values will be listed in the next select list. For example if department
    value is selected in a select list the employees in that department will be listed in the employee select list. I saw a
    metthod using ajax for achieving this in tabular form in Denes's sample application[Click Here| http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:176:462842537250908::NO] .
    Is there any way to achieve the same for a form based on a table,
    Thanks,
    Tj

    Hi Andy,
    Could you tell me how I could use your example with multiple Application Items?
    My page has 3 cascading select lists. The second is dependent on the first and the third is dependent on both the first and second. I thought I would just need to add the second application item as a get, but not sure what the syntax would be. I have troubleshooted to the point where my select list refreshes when I have one in the javascript...just not sure how to add the additional one?
    Here's what I have (I have been referencing your 'Get Employees' page)
    My Page Items:
    P0_VENDOR_ID
    P0_VENDOR_SITE_ID
    P0_INVENTORY_ITEM_ID
    My Application Items:
    F_VDR_ID
    F_VDR_SITE_ID
    My query in the application process has both F_VDR_SITE_ID and F_VDR_ID in it.
    My javascript function...this worked OK until I added the additional get.add('F_VDR_SITE_ID')
    function getItems(filter, listName)
    var xml = null;
    var list = document.getElementById(listName);
    var listvalue = list.value;
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null,$v('pFlowId'), 'APPLICATION_PROCESS=Set_Items',4);
    get.add('F_VDR_ID', filter.value);
    get.add('F_VDR_SITE_ID', filter.value);
    ret = get.get('XML');
    if(ret)
    var s = ret.getElementsByTagName("select");
    if(s){
    var o = ret.getElementsByTagName("option");
    var oCount = o.length;
    list.options.length = 0;
    for(var i = 0; i < oCount; i++){
    var l_Opt_Xml = o;
    appendToSelect(list, l_Opt_Xml.getAttribute('value'), l_Opt_Xml.firstChild.nodeValue);
    list.value = listvalue;
    if (list.selectedIndex == -1)
    list.selectedIndex = 0;
    get = null;
    Thanks,

  • Form Based Authentication Redirect URL

    I'm using form based authentication in standalone OC4J 10.1.3.1. I have set the system property oc4j.formauth.redirect to true to force OC4J to redirect using 302 any successful authentication to j_security_check.

    Any workaround?

    It does not appear to be quite the same issue. That bug indicates that everything works fine in a standalone OC4J environment. This would be true with the use case specified as the original URL (/em/console/ias) does not include any query parameters. In my case the original URL contains query parameters so the ultimate redirected URL should also contain those.

  • ADF Swing Search form based on readonly VO

    Hello,
    Does somebody know how to use the JUNavigationBar search form, when it is binded to ViewObject, that is readonly?
    The problem is that the form begins readonly too...
    Thanks,
    Jordan

    Hi,
    you could create your own parameter form and pass the data to a method on the ApplicationModule that hen applied the ViewCriteria. Alternatively you add bind variables to the query and use a form based on the ExecuteWithParams operation

  • Opening multiple-record form in query mode

    Hi,
    I have two problems:
    1. I have a portlet form based on a table that I would like to open in query mode. I've tried this code:
    - in the "..before displaying the form" block :
    WWV_MASTER_GENSYS_4 (
    p_block_name => p_block_name ,
    p_object_name => p_object_name,
    p_instance => p_instance ,
    p_event_type => p_event_type ,
    p_user_args => p_user_args ,
    p_session => p_session );
    It brings back the first record successfully. But when I press the 'next' button, I get this error 'An unexpected error occurred:ORA-06502:PL/SQL:numeric or value error:NULL index table key value (WWV-16016)
    2. I would like to display this form as a multiple records form. But it will only display one record at a time. Has anyone been able to do this?
    I would appreciate any assistance in advance.

  • Master/Detail Form based on view(s) - Bug?

    I made a master/detail form that is based on two views, and later master was a view and detail was a table. The form opens OK, but when I click query-button, the following error appears on the screen:
    An unexpected error occurred: ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from a join view without a key-preserved table (WWV-16016)
    An unexpected error occurred: ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from a join view without a key-preserved table (WWV-16016)
    When you create a form you are offered three different choices:
    1. Form based on table or view
    Build a form based on a database table or view.
    2. Master-detail form
    Build a master-detail form based on two tables or views. <---- ?????
    3. Form based on procedure
    Build a form based on a database stored procedure
    Is it at all possible to use views with master/detail?

    View should have a rowid. To create a rowid tables have to have foreign key relation. And also in where clause you should have PK-Field-Name=FK-Filed-Name statement.
