Forms in reader DC not auto sizing text

I Have forms crated in Acrobat 10 that I am editing on my iPad with Adobe Reader DC. Primarily to capture signatures easily and edit the form in meetings. The text boxes where we may have 200 to 2000 characters isn't resizing text on the iPad like it does on the computer. Is it because I need the latest greatest Acrobat or is this a DC glitch.
thanks

Why didn't you send him straight to your write-up, Boe?

I've shared this link numerous times in the past two weeks since I found it.  I haven't needed it myself, but I know I will eventually.  Adding a timer into the code of the form seems like a hack and still leads to undesirable behavior.
I didn't really know all of the requirements in what the OP wanted to do. If it is a long running command, then my link would absolutely be a better approach. I wouldn't consider using a Timer object as a hack as it has uses such as polling for a specific item
or working as a counter (or in the case that it sounded the OP wanted to have the form opened for a specific period of time). Not to hijack this thread, but what undesirable results were you seeing?

  • Is it possible to define the parameters of auto-sized text?

    Hello,
I'm working on creating a form that will create small signs with variable text sizes. The font value is currently set to "0" but I'm concerned that my end user will add so much text that the sign becomes unreadable.
Is there a way to create limits on font size within a text field? Can I put a range in the value field to achieve what I am looking for? Or is there a better way?
    Thank you,
    Erin

My apologies for not coming back to you.
After a 3 hour phone call and several weeks of emails, I received the following helpful information:
"I took a look at your form and quickly noticed a few things. To start, the form you were working on was using PDF artwork since it was imported from an existing AcroForm, this limits the objects and functions you can use, and for that reason I have to recreate the form into a Static XFA form. Once that was done I tackled the font size 0 issue. By setting the font size to 0, you let Acrobat/Reader decide what actual font size should be used, but the only problem you face by enabling multiple lines is that Acrobat/Reader doesn't know when it should stop shrinking the font and start writing to a new line. This is a limitation of the feature, and not a whole lot can be done.
What you can do on the other hand is to script your own logic. In the attached form I created a new formFunction container with a bit of logic. The function stored inside of this container gets called by all of the fields on the form when the document is opened, and every time the field is exited. This logic allows the fields to use font size 0 which auto sizes the font up to a certain point, but after 30 characters (when the font starts being to small), we set the font to a default 10pt and enable multi lines. Using this logic, you should be able to implement this on your forms."

  • "Auto" sized text reverting 12pt.

I created a form in Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.10. I have one field where the text font is set to Lucinda Sans and font size is set to AUTO.
When I send it to my client to fill out the font size goes to 12pt.
We are both working on Mac but I'm assuming she does not have Pro version only Reader.
    HELP!

Is there any chance she's using Preview instead of Acrobat or Reader? How are you determining it's 12pt. exactly?

  • Why does Mail in Mavericks not auto capitalize text any longer?

Previous versions of mail would automatically capitalize first words of sentences and the word "I" and it no longer does.
Was there any good reason for not continuing this feature?
Is there a setting to regain this feature?

    THanks Barnie-15E
You are a life saver or a mind saver at least. I did as you suggested and confirmed that I could not add "i" with a space and have it correct to a capital I. But what you did do is allow me to check the old computer and it was an option on that one.
Here is a screen shot of the place to put the check mark and have any lower case i by itself to be a capital I.
THank you thank you.  (Look at the bottom line of the table under "TEXTS". )
In the new version of the IOS they did not give the selection ability but free text to allow you more versatility and I have used that for many things, but in doing that they did not include the ability to use a space which took away the ability to capitalize the word "I".
Maybe they will consider that in the future. If you know anyone who could suggest that please forward this to them.

  • I have a acrobat reader, can I import text delimited data format to a PDF Form so that it can auto fill into forms that was created? If not, what about FDF and XML data

I have a acrobat reader, can I import text delimited data format to a PDF Form so that it can auto fill into forms that was created? If not, what about FDF and XML data

Yes, you can do all of that via Tools - Forms - More Form Options - Import Data, if you have Acrobat.
If you only have the free Reader then you can still do it, but it requires a script.

  • How do I change the color of font in a fillable form in Adobe Reader? How can I check if the writer of the document has given permission to edit color and not just add text?

How do I change the color of font in a fillable form in Adobe Reader? How can I check if the writer of the document has given permission to edit color and not just add text? Please help! I'm technologically challenged.

Most forms (99% or more) are created for simple text input, where you cannot change anything.
The creator of the form could allow Rich Text input (which allows you to change font, text size, color, etc.), but frankly I have never seen such a form, and I wouldn't know how they look.  But I'm sure they would show some kind of controls to alter the text appearance.

I have a user on Adobe Reader X.  whenever they open a .pdf file, the form fields do not auto-fill until you click in the box.  Is there a setting that can be changed to make the form open properly?

Sounds like the form fields were filled in on a Mac using Mac Preview. This cannot be fixed in Reader only Acrobat. Ask the person who filled in the form to redo their work in Adobe Reader.

  • Maximum font size for auto-sized form text

You need to let the user select a maximum font size for automatically sized text. If most of your fields are set at 10pt type, but you have one field for which you want the text to resize automatically, it looks stupid if that cell contains a small amount of text that’s set at 16pt or whatever. If you could set the maximum font size to 10pt for that field, then the text would be consistent with the text in the other fields unless there is so much text that it needs to scale down.

    Can anyone please advise?
    Cheers

  • How do you remove or change auto generated text in returned form e-mails?

    Hello,
I am currently using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional (Version 8.1.3) to create a form that will be sent to a group of people.  When testing it, I've noticed that when the end user presses the "SUBMIT FORM" button and a new e-mail opens with the completed form attached, the following text is automatically added to the body of the e-mail:
    Form Returned: XXXXXXX.pdf
Instructions to add this form to a data set:
    1. Double-click the attachment.
    2. Acrobat will prompt you to select a data set.
What I need to know is whether or not there is a way to either prevent this auto generated text from appearing or revise it so it gives a custom message instead.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Jeff

It sounds like you are getting a basic message that is telling you submitting the PDF is unnecessary and asking if you want to submit the data instead. I have not seen this one before, but that is my guess. If you are using the form fields created in Acrobat (not Designer), then just select FDF or XML for the data type to be submitted, not the form.

    Hello,
When I try to save a form as “Reader Extended PDF” in Acrobat Pro, I get an error message “This document could not be reader enabled”.
The steps I’m following are described below:
    1.    Insert electronic signatures
    - In Tasks, click on “Add New Field -> Digital Signature”.
    - Move the square to the place where you want to put the signature and click.
    - Fill in the “field name” with the name of the person who has to sign here.
    - When it is done, click anywhere on the screen.
    - In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
    - Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
    - Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.
    2.    Save the Form
    - In Tasks, click on “Close Form editing”.
    - Go to menu “File -> Save as -> Reader Extended PDF ->Enable additional features”, click on “Save now”.
    - Fill in the file name and click on “Save”.
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.0.0 on a W7 workstation
Here's a screenshot of the problem.
    Thanks a lot.

    Heya Waleed,
I use spry to create an autocomplete form that works great across browsers that have javascript enabled. You can store info in a database and parse the info to xml for a dynamic approach. Take a look at the filter examples in spry.

  • How to create a pdf form allowing Reader user to insert picture - NOT from their local hard drive - but from photos I want them to choose from?

Is there a way to create a PDF form where a Reader user can insert an image - that's NOT on their local hard drive?
I have 4 photos available - the users of my form will choose one of them and insert it in the pdf form. The users will NOT have the photos saved on their local hard drives so ideally, they will see thumbnails or a preview of the available photos and then select and insert the photo they want to use.
Is this possible? If so, how do I go about this? Right now, all I can find are ways to insert a photo located on the users local hard drive.
Hopefully someone can answer my question.

George, I'm not sure where the photos would go or how to include them. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to making pdf forms so i'm not sure if it's even possible.
I'm planning to make a flier. I want the end user to be able to choose the photo displayed on the flier - the photos would be ones that I choose and supply. I know I could just make four different fliers, but I thought it would be more efficient if I had one flier and gave the Reader user the ability to select the photo they like.
Does this sound possible to you?

I have not deleted ANY texts since i got my phone 10 weeks ago.   Nor have I syched.  How can I go back to earlier texts in a thread to see them again?

I've found that the easiest way to view old texts is by archiving them to my computer using a program such as PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac or PC). I generally save important threads to a .pdf for future reference.
