Forum: Application Express  is too slow

The following link "Back to Thread List" takes seconds if not minutes to complete.
The new forum offers more informations but i must say that the performance is not satisfactory.

Hi Adrian,
There seems to be a number of issues since after the last Forum software upgrade: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumID=587
Hopefully, the Oracle guys are looking into this

  • Logic Express "disk too slow or system overload"

    Hello,
I'm brand new to all this and have just started going through the tutorials that come on the DVD with the Mark Sitter book for Logic Pro and Express. i have a brand new MacBook Pro and can't seem to get beyond the first ten seconds of the demo song without it bogging down with an error message that reads "Core Audio: Disc is too slow or system overloaded. (-010010)". The funny thing is that the CPU meter is barely registering any activity. Any words on this for a rookie?
    Thanks.

I found some Hard Drives that seem to be super small and FW800 with a rotational speed of 7200. They're made by a company called GTech. i think it's called the Mini. Has anyone had any experience with these for my application? I have a Lacie but was hoping to keep the system a bit more concise.
    Thanks,

  • Launching application first time too slow

    Hi
I installed 32bit Arch on my Acer Travelmate 5744Z laptop few days ago. Before I used Arch Linux on my desktop PC for years. There everything works fine, but on laptop after the boot launching applications first time is really slow for example chromium needs more than 5 sec. Boot process is fast, I have no problem with it. I read this and hdparm gives more than 40 MB/s. After first launch they works fine. I tried to use preload but no changes. I have a problem with MOC player too... I really like this player but starting play is slow too and needs a few second. I use it with autonext and shuffle and after starting song change is without any problem. But if I stop it play starts very slow again....
Any idea what should I do?
    Thanks in advance

  • Application response too slow- How to resolve (webLogic)

Hi All, Can you please let me know what are all the main areas that i need to concentrate in the weblogic application server if i get the complaint from the clients saying "application performance is too slow".
    Edited by: user11361691 on Apr 21, 2010 12:18 AM

you need to check the following:
1: Check the server log files to find any errors at the time when the Client is complaining about the server performance.
2: You can enable the GC logs in the server log and can check whether the there is any issues with the memory usage of the server. From the GC logs you can that whether the time has been taken to to the GC and hence you can try allocating higher memory or you can try changing the GC algorithm according to the analysis.
For details refer the following link:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs100/perform/topten.html
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs100/perform/JVMTuning.html
3: Finally you can collect the thread dumps snap shots and can see whether there are any stuck threads or deadlock situation in the server at the time of slow performance.

  • Insert too slow

    Hi DB Gurus,
Our application is inserting 60-70K records in a table in each transaction. When multiple sessions are open on this table user face performance issues like application response is too slow.
    Regarding this table:
    1.Size = 56424 Mbytes!
    2.Count = 188,858,094 rows!
    3.Years of data stored = 4 years
4.Average growth = 10 million records per month, 120 million each year! (has grown 60 million since end of June 2007)
    5.Storage params = 110 extents, Initial=40960, Next=524288000, Min Extents=1, Max Extents=505
6.There are 14 indexes on this table all of which are in use.
    7. Data is inserted through bulk insert
    8. DB: Oracle 10g
Sheer size of this table (56G) and its rate of growth may be the culprits behind performance issue. But to ascertain that, we need to dig out more facts so that we can decide conclusively how to mail this issue.
    So my questions are:
    1. What other facts can be collected to find out the root cause of bad performance?
    2. Looking at given statistics, is there a way to resolve the performance issue - by using table partition or archiving or some other better way is there?
We've already though of dropping some indexes but it looks difficult since they are used in reports based on this table (along with other tables)
    3. Any guess what else can be causing this issue?
    4. How many records per session can be inserted in a table? Is there any limitation?
    Thanks in advance!!

When my application running, some of CPU have IDLE state = 0 and hold the CPU while another CPU have IDLE state 100. I think this is my bottleneck but I cannot find any solution for solve that.

    @ O.P.,
You cross-posted this to at least two other forum web sites:
    http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/solaris-opensolaris-20/application-running-too-slow-on-sun-sparc-t5440-but-run-normal-on-sun-m3000-4175411155/
    http://www.unix.com/solaris/189945-application-running-too-slow-sun-sparc-t5440-but-run-normal-sun-m3000.html
... and didn't think that was important enough to simply mention the fact.
Timestamps suggest that OTN was the last place you posted to.
    Poor forum etiquette.
Why would anyone spend the time to try to give help that you have already received elsewhere? That's a waste of their time.
(Yes, you already received the suggestion to use Dtrace in one of those other sites.)

I dont understand the reason. Could you please help me out.
    Thank you,
    Deepika Gohil.

Check your web server's access logs to see how many requests web start is sending for each jar. After you've loaded the application the first time, for each subsequent launch, if you've got everything configured right, you should only see requests for the JNLP file and maybe some gifs because web start should load everything else out of the cache (if you're using the version-based download protocol). Or if you're using the basic download protocol, then you might see requests for each jar file, but even in this case, if your web server is prepared to evaluate the last-updated attribute for each jar request and for jars that have not changed, respond with no actual payload and a header value of Not-Modified, then that should run almost as fast.
You might also want to consider changing the "check" attribute of the "update" element from "always" to "background" for a couple of reasons. It should allow your app to start sooner (but this means that you might have to launch once or twice after an update is applied to the web server before the update shows up on the workstation). Also, my impression is that "always" is broken and prevents web start from ever checking to see if your jnlp file has been updated if you launch your app from a web start shortcut - launching from a browser is less likely to have this problem, depending on how often your browser is configured to check for updated resources.

  • Built In application "YouTube" Is Way too slow!

Hey guys, I'm new here btw, so hi to all.
When i watch videos on youtube built in app IT TAKES FOREVER! to buffer the videos, I'm using WI-FI and my net connection is 20mb, I would love to use it but it just takes toooooo long to buffer it would take me 4-5 minute to watch a one minute clip, Any help you'll be my new idol!
The strange this is though, on my computer they load in literally seconds if not instantly are are completely buffered in under 5 seconds for almost any video, yet i could hardly watch a 2 minute youtube video, it buffers then 20 seconds later it stops and it won't supering buffer, i press play nothing happens, it just like it either WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too slow or it stops buffering completely, all i know is with youtube being such a big feature, it is almost useless by the terrible coding, or what ever the problem is to make it soo slow, i hear so much people talking about youtube and there iphone but mine is just too painfully slow to watch(and no 100% not my connection)

Is there any youtube settings??? Can any setting be changed which relate to youtube? And is it possible to watch youtube through safari and not through the standard application?
NO, there are no settings. Flash will not play in Safari yet, but there is a workaround using VideoHamster.
Here are a couple of Flash YouTube videos on my server that I converted to QT with CosmoPod. How do they load for you? I have a 1M up cable connection. They should start loading and playing after a few seconds. YouTube videos start playing after about 5 seconds on mine.

    Hi ...
Checked to see how much free space there is on the startup disk lately?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.

If disk space is not the issue, booting in Safe Mode deletes system caches that may help.
A Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient.
Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen.
From the drop down menu click Restart.
See if that makes a difference ...

  • I just installed Lion and the newest version of Logic express 9 (9.1.5) and every time i playback audio I get this error message:  [Disk is too slow or System Overload. (-10010) . Never had any issues before now...

I just installed OSX Lion (10.7.2) and updated to the newest version of Logic express (9.1.5) on a macbook and every time I playback audio I get this error message:  [Disk is too slow or System Overload. (-10010) The Sudden Motion Sensor may have parked the hard drive head, or the disk performance is not sufficient to read or write all audio tracks, or the system was not able to process all data in time]
Never had any issues before now... any ideas?

Have a look into the Preferences folder (YourUserFolder/Libraries/Preferences/) and trash all Logic preferences.
You'll have to setup the program again.
    cheers

  • Slow changing dimensions in application express GUI

I need some kind of slow changing dimensions for application express GUI in order to be able
    1) simply allow users to edit 1 row for 1 object in APEX GUI
    2) widely use historical data in reporting.
    I.E.:
Client's Last name (address, etc) was changed. I need to show in reports two points: before change and after:
    ID Name Order_date Amount
    12 Clark 1/1/10 500
    12 Johnson 5/1/10 200
    Are there common solutions?

There are probably a few approaches you can take:
    1) Fine Grained Auditing (FGA) - very extensive and can be completely customized.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/network.102/b14266/cfgaudit.htm#sthref1766
    2) Triggers - if you have basic needs on a few tables/columns, it may be easier to just roll your own trigger. You can compare the :old to the :new value, and if they differ, write both to your own auditing table.

  • Logic Express says "Disk is too slow or system overload (-10010)"

I have a brand spankin new white MacBook. It has Intel Core Duo 2.1 processors, with 2gigs of RAM, and Leopard 10.5.6 OS. I am using Logic Express 8 and every now and then I will get an error message "Disk is too slow or system overload (-10010)
I checked the requirements for Logic Express 8 and I exceed them. Could I still need more than 2 gigs of RAM?

I got the same problem when I was recording 10 tracks while using SW monitoring. For a short while it went OK but then twice in a row I got this message about the disk being too slow. The result was that I got a real loud noise on the headphone. But after that the recording just proceeded. I had to stop because otherwise I think the musicians would have gone deaf. However I had to continue with recording for some more hours so I tried to solve it. The following worked for me. I turned off 24 bit recording because I had the impression there was too much data being written. I also made the buffer as low as possible (32). After that I did not have a problem anymore and recorded for about 7 to 8 hours in a row.
So I suspect that the HD is indeed too slow or has not enough cache. As far as I can see my HD has 8 MB RAM and runs at 5400 rpm. I wll ask Aple support if this could be an issue when recording large amounts of data. Note that I have 4 GB RAM and still got the problem so that is not the cause of this issue here.
