  • I downloaded adobe pro xi, I installed it.  When starting it up for the first time, it asked for a language.  I hit English, but then proceeded to load up everything thereafter in French.  How do I fix this.  I already went back and modified under change

  • Unofficial Forum Rules and Guidelines

I realize there is an official Community Guidelines thread, but I feel it should cover more topics than it does.  So here is my attempt to have a thread I can point new users to, if they are unsure how forum etiquette works.
    Before Posting a Question
Many posts have been made on the forums over the years and many topics have been covered.  You are likely not the first person to attempt something, or having difficulty.  Search the forums first for the question you would like to ask.  NI's forum search works well but feel free to use Google to search the forums.  Try searching with alternate terms, like "System Tray" instead of "Icon Tray".
    Posting a Question
When posting a question you should first follow the guidelines linked earlier.  In addition to those points I'd like to mention a few more:
Not everyone on the forums speaks English.  If English is not your native language feel free to post questions in your first language, but be aware that there are several non-English speaking sub-forums.  If you post a non-English question in the English forum, you may or may not get people who speak your language.  Stick to forum for that language to ensure you get the help you need.
Post in the right sub-forum.  Language is the first sub-forum to consider, but topic is another.  If you are asking a question about LabVIEW exams, it is better to post in the Certification board, rather than the LabVIEW board.  If you posted in the wrong forum ask a moderator to move it to the appropriate section.
Have a useful title.  The title of your question should never be "labview" for "fpga".  Your title should also not be a paragraph.  It should be a quick summary of the topics your post is going to discuss.
Do not use caps lock unless you are really yelling.  It would be rude for me to ask a question by yelling and the same goes for the forums.  This goes for the title and the post.
Do not beg for help using words like URGENT, or LIFE AND DEATH.  This is again rude, we are largely volunteers that like to help, but not when we are being yelled at.
Use words not letters "NEED hlp Plz R U labview xpert?"  Use full English sentences.  If you have trouble with this please refer back to speaking in your native language, or go back and take English class.
There is rarely a need to change the font size, color or style from the default settings.  You are wasting your time, and likely making your post harder to read.  Stick with the default font styles.
Try giving as much information about the conditions of your question.  Things like: What version of LabVIEW are you using? What operating system are you using?  What hardware are you using? and What sensors are you using? are a few common ones.
If you want to ask the same question on another LabVIEW board like LAVA, feel free to do so.  One thing that helps collaborate efforts is to provide a link in your post back to the other place where the question was asked.  This way someone on the NI forums can see what has already been said on another forum.
When posting code post the actual code not a screenshot.  You wouldn't take a screenshot of a text file and post it on a text language forum.  Upload the actual VI, or zip several files and upload the zip.  The exception to this rule is when uploading a VI Snippet.  This is an image with the VI embedded in it, so the source is still intact.
When you don't get the help you want
If you posted a question and didn't get any response, or didn't understand the responses you got, do not make a new thread on the same topic.  Doing this will fragment the conversation and you will have two groups of people working on the same problem.
Don't simply BUMP a thread with a new post without more information.  This is a sign that you don't want to put in any effort and are simply nagging others to help you.  If a thread goes dry and you want more help, try getting more information on the subject, or try something and reply to the thread with this new information.  This shows you are willing to work towards your goal, and aren't just looking for others to do your work for you.
When you get the help you want
Volunteers put in effort to help you and they want to know they are appreciated.  The forums have several ways to say "Thank You" to those that have helped.  Here are the preferred methods.
    Kudos
You can thanks a person on the forum by giving them a Kudo.  A user on the forums can Kudo a post by another user once, but multiple users can Kudo the same post which can highlight posts that a collection of users find useful.
Here is a thread discussion when users choose to give Kudos.
    Marking Solutions
Any reply to a post can be marked as a solution to the post, if the sub-forum supports marking solutions.  This is helpful because the thread will get a green check mark showing a solution to the question has been found.  Threads can have multiple posts marked as a solution, but it is best to limit the number of posts that are the solution.  Mark the posts that answer the question, not just helpful posts.  A helpful post can be Kudo'd, but doesn't need to be marked as a solution.
    Things Not To Do
Do not send private messages to a user asking a question.  Forums exist so we can work to solve a problem as a group.  Contacting someone privately causes that to not work.
Do not post personal information.  This includes Email, or phone contact information.  Spam bots crawl forums like this looking for your information.  This also means don't make your user name an email address.
Do not have huge signatures.  They waste space on the forum and can clutter the conversation.  Signatures are okay, but large ones are discouraged.
Do not post homework assignments.  We are not going to do your homework for you.  You are welcome to ask specific questions about things you don't understand.  But don't post your homework and expect someone to do it for you.  You won't learn this way.
Do not resurrect old threads that have nothing to do with the new question.  A post from 2002 about how to setup a DAQ task will likely not be related to your question about reading a serial port.  Make a new thread asking your new question.
    Looking For Free Training
Many times new users of NI hardware or software just don't know where to start.  They will ask a question but without knowing the terms, or the intended purpose, they will not be able to form a proper question.  Here are some free training tools primarily focused on LabVIEW and NI hardware.

If 10 out of 10 experts in any field say something is bad, you should probably take their opinion seriously.

    When attaching code:
Include all subVIs, typedefs, and global variables, etc.
Remove all passwords from password protected VIs.
Do NOT include anything from vi.lib or that is part of a standard LabVIEW installation.
Do NOT include libraries from commercial third party drivers unless you suspect them to be the cause of the problem.
If it is an entire project, zip everything up. (A "*.lvproj" file does NOT contain anything useful. All code referenced in the project needs to be included).
If you attach more than one VI, tell us the name of the toplevel VI.
Set all controls to typical values, then make them default before saving. Do not set indicators to new default values, especially e.g. graphs containing huge amounst of data.
Ideally, all we should need to do is open and run the VI to see the problem.
The default data should be typical and not biased in any way. If an input is a matrix, don't make it square or symmetric unless that is guranteed to always be the case.
Tell us how to demonstrate the bug (e.g. Run A, set control B to X, Indicator C is now Y while I expect it to be be Z instead, etc.). Include these instruction as diagram comment on the toplevel VI.
If the problems is with reading a file, include a sample file that demonstrates the problem.
If you run the newest LabVIEW version, you might want to downconvert to a lower version before attaching (file...save for previous...). This way there are more people that can potentially help. (Of course if the suspected bug depends on the version, you should attach the version that demonstrates the bug.)
If you make claims about speed or benchmarking:
Tell us what you consider fast or slow. "Seconds" could be fast for one problem while "microseconds" could be considered slow for another.
    Include your benchmarking code.
Make sure the speed test is sound and not polluted by debugging settings. Keep the front panels of subVIs closed, watch for code running in parallel, and avoid front panel updates.
Make a distinction between slow code and slugginsh FP responsiveness.

  • A KISS language?

This not a flame but an effort clarifying what was said in "General Programming Forum" regarding languages what Arch consider as KISS (keep it simple). Not only as KISS but some languages are "evil". Not evil as its written but the way devs feel a language doesn't do or... I don't exactly know what they refer. It causes a confusion between devs (educated in programming) and eudevs (end user developers who learn on their own).
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?t=13572
In the said topic, PERL is evil and not KISS. Most likely BASH is also evil because its similar to PERL. Also PHP (not the OOP PHP).
OOP based languages are considered as KISS, if I have understood correctly. Languages such as C and Python.
My question here, what is the KISS in a language? In general OOP languages require a proper study and best if learned in a school. BASH and other similar languages any person with a logical mind, can understand  and do simple coding with no pre-educated knowledge. Lean the basic and there you go.

I'd vote for number of statements required. Note that I didn't say 'number of lines of code' -- many PERL and Python 'one liners' can be very powerful, and also very hard to read.
Second on my list is number of tokens per statement. Adding modifiers like 'public, private, static, const, TypeOfClass, def, etc should not be necessary. Adding extra brackets, braces, parenthesis, semi-colons, and other punctuation should not be necessary.
Using indentation as a language feature is a Good Thing. It takes fewer characters to type than placing stuff inside {} (the C/C++/Java/Perl way), or having explicit 'end' statements (Ruby, Basic). The fewer redundant lines of code, the better.
I guess when you add all this up, the simplest language is the one that allows you to program a task in the fewest number of characters and the shortest amount of time. A good language allows you to have a program that is both very readable and very writable.
I would vote for Python here again. I've been reading up on Ruby and I don't like the way it looks. I suspect that both Python and Ruby are 'simple' languages, just as both slack and Arch are simple distros. However, in my personal opinion, just as Arch is a more elegant distro than slackware, Python is a more elegant language than Ruby.
No languages, however, are evil, and I strongly resent any statement that they are.

  • Change additional display language

    Phone: Curve 8520
    Device software: 5.0.0.681
    Desktop software: 6.0.1.18
    Carrier: QTEL Qatar
I installed the Dutch language with the application loader.
Than I went to "Languages" on the Blackberry, but I can only change the input language to Dutch.
Should the installation add Dutch display aswell or does that depend on the carrier?

Hello HelpdeskDB and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Language support is determined be each mobile network carrier.
That being said, you were able to install the Language package to your device so you should have the option to display the desired language as well as input.
When you go to Options>Language and Text Input, the first option in the list, Language, what are your available options?

  • How to do a SET using SNMP ?

    Hi,
I already ask in the forum Advanced Language Topics
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=4&thread=320674
but I din't receive any answer so I try here maybe some one could help me on this ... ;-)
I find a nice piece of code on Internet to do SNMP request
    http://membres.lycos.fr/ysoun/index.html
    http://membres.lycos.fr/ysoun/sck.zip
It works find to do some GET operations like doing a GET sysDescr (oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0).
But I would like to do a SET operation but I could'nt succeed.
First I do a get on an oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.4.0 (sysContact) and I get the value "hello" which is find and I would like to set this value to "good bye".
Well I have to say that I dont know very well the SNMP protocol and I couldnt figure out where to put the value in order to set "Good bye". Off course I have the right community to do that but I just can't figure out how can I do that ...
Any comment ... help ... ideas ... are more than welcome !!!! Or maybe some better SNMP package to do that???
    thanks,
    Emmanuel

Hello,i have been using 8830 for many years,in cdma network,it cannot show or send chinese sms,how to solve this problem?

    Hi mike_jeson,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Language support availability is determined by your wireless provider and is available for installation in your BlackBerry Device Software. You can download the most recent version of BlackBerry Device Software from your provider's download site in the following list. http://bbry.lv/ad7CII This article should help you install available language packs. http://bbry.lv/9IpPf9

  • How to Convert Pagemaker7 files in InDesign

    Hi...,
I was using Pagemaker 7, Can anybody will guide how can I convert all my pagemaker work in InDesign.
All my work is in Indian Unicode Language (Marathi). Pls Help !!
    Thanks

This comes up sometimes, but fewer people are asking as time goes by so you might want to search the forum to see what you can find. If I remember correctly, you want to have the PageMaker files saved in the latest version of PM7 (I don't remember the update number), so if you still have PageMaker on an operating system that will run it, you may (or may not) need to save-as before you convert. Also, any images should be checked for current links (best to link and not embed images before the conversion. Lastly, it may be that you need to take the files through a few versions of InDesign, rather than opening them directly in CC. That's just a guess, because I haven't touched PageMaker or it's files in many years, but older threads on the forum might confirm that.
As far as the language goes, you will want to hear from the forum's language experts on that, and I'm not one, so I can't help you there.

Roughly translated I did not actually resolve his issue but did resolve an issue with a friend and associate of theirs.
He had Illustrator installed on a laptop, it was not connected to a printer and there was no default printer selected.
I thought the problem or the default printer was solved with the OS updates for both Windows and Mac but apparently you can still encounter it.
If you do not have a default printer select in your system (on a Mac it is in the Print and Fax preference pane Illustrator will not launch.
Why I did not think of this I do not know.
in the previous post he has a link to another forum Spanish language and it looks like a good and helpful forum.
He makes not of an important omission in the install that does not warn or notify that the installation did not find a default printer.
I point out that a laptop might not be connected to a printer and my not have a default printer selected and IN Snow leopard Acrobat cannot be selected as a printer let alone a default printer. So you must connect a printer to the laptop and have the drivers installed and selected or use a postscript driver that is installed as a virtual printer or choose Adobe Postscript (which I am not certain can be done).
You can check out the link above and use google translation to aid you in understanding the postings.
I thank jluisDG for coming back to the forum and posting his findings. Very helpful and will probably aid many users. We should all keep it mind.
    Have a wonderful day luis.

  • Lenovo u330p problem mit bildschirm ausschalten/ problem with display timeout

    hallo!

hy! my problem is, that if the screen turns off because i didn´t do anything for 5 minutes (energy options) then i have to restart the system per pushing the "turn off/on" button long. normally it should start wenn i push any key, or when i close and open the ultrabook again. the malfunction is repeatable. i hope someone can help me, sorry for my bad english.

We all have the same problem. Please help us!
    Hallo liebe Community,
    google translation;
I also row me to the worried and perplexed owner of Lenovo U330p. I myself have already uninstalled the Energy Management Center of Lenovo and tried all power settings to fix the problem. But that did not help anything. The display remains dark after the laptop has gone into power-saving mode. Sometimes you can observe how the display is slightly lighter and darker again even - always in short intervals. Does not look healthy. I hope there is a solution very quickly.
