FPM and work protect

Hi,
I am modifying the ESS SP10's Leave application.
I am curious as to how FPM relates to Work Protect mode.
When I test out the application it is able to detect unsaved data, but where is the code that does this check? I have read about Work Protect Mode (http://tinyurl.com/2cbfk2) but when i searched the codes i could not find any references to the WDPortalWorkProtectMode class.
Does FPM call this class?
If FPM calls this class on my behalf, the question is how FPM knows I have unsaved data?
Does the isDirty method have anything to do with this?

Thanks for the link.
But does it work the same if my application uses the FPM framework and not just WD?
I thought that FPM should call the WDPortalWorkProtectMode class on my behalf, as I do not see any codes inside the standard ESS leave application that calls the WDPortalWorkProtectMode class directly. Yet when i try to navigate away from the ESS Leave Request page, it correctly warned me about unsaved data.
I am very curious how FPM accomplish this feat, in the hope that I can do the same as well.

  • FPM and Work Protect Mode

    Hi Gurus,
Need your help with an issue I am facing.
I need to implement Work Protection in a custom ESS appl. I read in the forum/ help that FPM itself manages WorkProtection/ Confirm Loss-of-Work for ESS applications.
However, It doesn't prompt for 'saving' data in my case. I am not able to figure out a way to incorporate it?
Any idea how to implement it? I did go through the FPMComponent in xsfpm dc. But, am not sure how to implement it in my application.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ayyapparaj, Thanks.
I am on NW04 SP 21. And Work Protect Mode works on the standard ESS applications.
I am not sure how to implement work protection in my application or how to trigger the Standard Work Protect confirmation dialog window.
I created a custom Confirmation window, but the client wants it to be consistent with the standard Work Protect Pop Up.
I did set the isDirty to true and turned on the "Prompt to save work" option on Portal. But, still doesnt work.
Could you please help me with this?

  • IAC and Work Protect Mode

    Hi,
I have created a Role in Portal which is calling an IAC (bbpsc02) from SRM box. The problem is that whenever user open this transaction and if he without doing anything navigate to other role, he is getting Work Protect Mode dialog
u201CYour Current page have unsaved data. Please take following actionu2026u201C
Although the user had not done anything on this page but he is still getting this message. The transaction on screen display some text and ask the user to select some options using links. No input field on screen.
Please provide some input on this peculiar problem.
    Regards,
    Anup Batra

    Hi,
If the user clicks a link to start a transaction, then he/she has to complete the transaction or abort that one.
To set the default behaviour for a transaction in the portal, the work protection  mode setting is available.
    Thanks

  • Work Protect mode and browser navigation?

Through testing we have noticed some behaviors with Work Protect that I did not expect. Can anyone help?
We are on EP6 SP18. When changing data (ie. setting the dirty flag) on applications (CRM PCUI for instance) and then clicking some other link, button, etc. anywhere within the browser content area, the Work Protect mode fires correctly and pops up a confirmation warning.
    However, in these cases:
    (1)user clicks forward/backward browser buttons
(2)user manually enters URL in address bar
    (3)user close browser
(4)user clicks mouse buttons for backward/foward navigation (such as 3rd or 4th mouse button programmed to do back/forward)
...Work Protect does NOT fire and catch those events.
Is this truly a limitation of Work Protect or should we investigate further? I can not find any definate wording of the above issues/limitations in any of the documentation (help.sap.com or on service.sap.com in notes).

I have the IPAD3 and have set up to receive both personal and work emails - I want to password protect both so children cannot access - is this possible ?

You can Password protect your iPad, but if you want your children to play games on your iPad, then one you unlock it, they have full access, there is not an option to password apps, such as the Mail app.

  • Work protect mode and wedynpro ABAP

    Hi,
Does anyone know how the work protect mode should work for webdynpro abap?
We are using webdynpro abap ivews for travel. When i click on the exit button within travel I get a pop up. If I navigate away i.e click on personal information I don't get a pop up.
When I navigate away form a webdynpro java iview to personal information I always get a pop up.
Shouldn't this happen  for webdynpro ABAP ivews as well?

iTunes is updated and works fine and I am able to log onto my account. When I go to purchase a song, I get the error message "Your Apple ID has been disabled". I've tried different methods: changing passwords, making a new account with another email address, and emailing itunes tech support. I am curious as to how many others have been experiencing the same issue. When I googled the error, it seemed like it was happening extremely often with many people.
We all love their products, but they always come with a lot of issues and horrible customer support.
My apple Id is [email protected]

My Iphone 4 is telling me the same thing and I believe I figured out what the problem is.  I had some fraudulent charges on my itunes account, so I call my bank and disputed the charges.  Right after I did that, I started getting the message "Your apple ID has been disabled."  I just realized today that the charges are not fraudulent, they are "in app purchases."  One of my daughters downloaded the game Top Girl which is FREE, but in the game Top Girl you use money in the game to purchase things.  It just so happens that the money you use to purchase things is real money MY Money!!!.  My daughter thought she was using play money in the game and had no idea she was using real money.  She spent $106.00 buying stuff.  Now I have to call the bank and tell them to release the hold and pay Itunes.  I'm hoping this solves the problem.  Here is the link to learn how to disable "in app purchase" on your iphone or ipad.

  • Change text in WD ABAP work protect mode pop up

    Hi All,
We have implemented MSS Appraisals, In appraisal document (WD ABAP application --- HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT) in review phase, when user selects "Save and Exit " radio button and click on continue button, a pop up comes with message -
"This application contains unsaved data which may be lost.
Do you want to continue without saving the changes"
    How to change this text?
I think its using FPM message manager (FPM_MESSAGE_MANAGER) application but I couldn't find above message anywhere to customize the text (its not there in T100 table).
    Any ideas? Please help.
    Thanks,
    Pradeep

    Hi Kai,
    Thank you for the response...
I am not sure of the location of the text you suggested, but I found that
text is maintained in CL_FPM_CONFIRMATION_REQUEST abap class. this text is divided in to two text 1) This application contains unsaved data which may be lost. and 2) Do you want to continue without saving the changes? And append this is the class constructor.
We can change the text here... But thought changing the text is not a solution for my issue, so I need to address the root cause....
I contacted SAP (raised an OSS message) and working with them on this, as of now we modified our logic in Value Determination BADI and it is working fine 90%
Update: modified Value determination BAdi and V_T77SP_2 table entry to solve this issue!
    Thanks,
    Pradeep

What is the complete list of ports and IP addresses to be open/permited in our enterprise firewall in order to let internal PCs download and work with creative cloud applications?

Our firewall only supports IP configuration (not URL). Do you have IP list?

  • How do i personalize it and password protect it?

My internet works, I was trying to set up my new airport extreme and my computer froze in the process and now it works but the light blinks amber and its an open network connection that anyone can connect to.  I tried a factory reset, but it won't go back to the easy setup process like the first time.  It just opens and my computer connects.  Any thoughts for how to rename the network and password protect it?

To rename the Network Name: AirPort Utility > Select the AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless tab > Wireless Network Name
To enable wireless security: AirPort Utility > Select the AEBS > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless tab > Wireless Security. I would recommend using "WPA2 Personal" for the security type.

  • Is there actually any computer cleaning software for Mac that is safe and works?

Is there actually any cleaning software for IMac that issafe and works. Have an early 2008 iMac, have up-graded RAM to 6GB.

    How to maintain a Mac
    1. Make redundant backups, keeping at least one off site at all times. One backup is not enough. Don’t back up your backups; all should be made directly from the original data. Don’t rely completely on any single backup method, such as Time Machine. If you get an indication that a backup has failed, don't ignore it.
    2. Keep your software up to date. In the App Store or Software Update preference pane (depending on the OS version), you can configure automatic notifications of updates to OS X and other Mac App Store products. Some third-party applications from other sources have a similar feature, if you don’t mind letting them phone home. Otherwise you have to check yourself on a regular basis.
Keeping up to date is especially important for complex software that modifies the operating system, such as device drivers. Before installing any Apple update, you must check that all such modifications that you use are compatible. Incompatibility with third-party software is by far the most common cause of trouble with system updates.
    3. Don't install crapware, such as “themes,” "haxies," “add-ons,” “toolbars,” “enhancers," “optimizers,” “accelerators,” "boosters," “extenders,” “cleaners,” "doctors," "tune-ups," “defragmenters,” “firewalls,” "barriers," “guardians,” “defenders,” “protectors,” most “plugins,” commercial "virus scanners,” "disk tools," or "utilities." With very few exceptions, such stuff is useless or worse than useless. Above all, avoid any software that purports to change the look and feel of the user interface.
It's not much of an exaggeration to say that the whole "utility" software industry for the Mac is a fraud on consumers. The most extreme examples are the "CleanMyMac" and “MacKeeper” scams.
As a rule, the only software you should install is that which directly enables you to do the things you use a computer for, and doesn't change the way other software works.
Safari extensions, and perhaps the equivalent for other web browsers, are a partial exception to the above rule. Most are safe, and they're easy to get rid of if they don't work. Some may cause the browser to crash or otherwise malfunction.  Some are malicious. Use with caution, and install only well-known extensions from relatively trustworthy sources, such as the Safari Extensions Gallery.
Never install any third-party software unless you know how to uninstall it. Otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
    4. Don't install bad, conflicting, or unnecessary fonts. Whenever you install new fonts, use the validation feature of the built-in Font Book application to make sure the fonts aren't defective and don't conflict with each other or with others that you already have. See the built-in help and this support article for instructions. Deactivate or remove fonts that you don't really need to speed up application launching.
    5. Beware of malware. Malware is malicious software that circulates on the Internet. This kind of attack on OS X used to be so rare that it was hardly a concern, but it's now increasingly common, and increasingly dangerous.
There is some built-in protection against downloading malware, but you can’t rely on it — the attackers are always at least one day ahead of the defense. You can’t rely on third-party protection either. What you can rely on is common-sense awareness — not paranoia, which only makes you more vulnerable.
Never install software from an untrustworthy or unknown source. If in doubt, do some research. Any website that prompts you to install a “codec” or “plugin” that comes from the same site, or an unknown site, is untrustworthy. Software with a corporate brand, such as Adobe Flash Player, must come directly from the developer's website. No intermediary is acceptable, and don’t trust links unless you know how to parse them. Any file that is automatically downloaded from the web, without your having requested it, should go straight into the Trash. A web page that tells you that your computer has a “virus,” or that anything else is wrong with it, is a scam.
In OS X 10.7.5 or later, downloaded applications and Installer packages that have not been digitally signed by a developer registered with Apple are blocked from loading by default. The block can be overridden, but think carefully before you do so.
Because of recurring security issues in Java, it’s best to disable it in your web browsers, if it’s installed. Few websites have Java content nowadays, so you won’t be missing much. This action is mandatory if you’re running any version of OS X older than 10.6.8 with the latest Java update. Note: Java has nothing to do with JavaScript, despite the similar names. Don't install Java unless you're sure you need it. Most people don't.
    6. Don't fill up your boot volume. A common mistake is adding more and more large files to your home folder until you start to get warnings that you're out of space, which may be followed in short order by a boot failure. This is more prone to happen on the newer Macs that come with an internal SSD instead of the traditional hard drive. The drive can be very nearly full before you become aware of the problem.
While it's not true that you should or must keep any particular percentage of space free, you should monitor your storage use and make sure you're not in immediate danger of using it up. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the startup volume for normal operation.
If storage space is running low, use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the most space. Move seldom-used large files to secondary storage.
    7. Relax, don’t do it. Besides the above, no routine maintenance is necessary or beneficial for the vast majority of users; specifically not “cleaning caches,” “zapping the PRAM,” "resetting the SMC," “rebuilding the directory,” "defragmenting the drive," “running periodic scripts,” “dumping logs,” "deleting temp files," “scanning for viruses,” "purging memory," "checking for bad blocks," "testing the hardware," or “repairing permissions.” Such measures are either completely pointless or are useful only for solving problems, not for prevention.
To use a Mac effectively, you have to free yourself from the Windows mindset that every computer needs regular downtime maintenance such as "defragging" and "registry cleaning." Those concepts do not apply to the Mac platform. A computing device should not be a focus of your attention. It should be an almost invisible tool by means of which you communicate, work, and play. If you want a machine that is always whining for your attention like a neurotic dog, use a PC.
The very height of futility is running an expensive third-party application called “Disk Warrior” when nothing is wrong, or even when something is wrong and you have backups, which you must have. Disk Warrior is a data-salvage tool, not a maintenance tool, and you will never need it if your backups are adequate. Don’t waste money on it or anything like it.

  • Work protect - admin settings in Portal?

    Hi,
Is there any config for switching on work protect mode?
I have a 2 portals with ESS ERP2004 that behave differently.  eg under Personal Data > Address Data if I make a change and hit exit
    Portal 1
I get a pop up box asking if I want to continue and loose changes
    Portal 2
a new portal is kicked off leaving the edited address open in the orginial window.
I'm guessing this might be due to different setting in work protect mode but not sure where the setting is.
    TIA
    J
