FPM call as a popup

Hi Experts,
I need to open Standard Billing Editor FPM in popup.
like if we go to WDC FPM_GAF_COMPONENT-> Web dynpro Application-> PRS_GAF_APP-> PRS_GAF_APP_CONF and test it it will open it in explorer window.
I need to open it when we click on button in web dynpro as a popup not as a external window.
How can i achieve this???

To show a custom UI component as pop up you need to do the following
a. Runtime Repostory
Create a new component usage.
b. Controller Class
Create an new attribute in the controller class
lr_popup type ref to IF_BSP_WD_POPUP.
In the event handler or when the popup need to be invoked

Hi ,
how to call the windows popup on SRM portal.
For example when I hit "Check" on the shoppoing cart screen I get a popup saying that "Shopping cart Test has no errors and can be orderd".
I am looking to thorw a popup which has got "yes" and "no" options ( like function module POPUP_TO_CONFIRM in GUI ) and based on the users choice the logic follows through.

Passing data from calling page to popup window

Hi All,
We are developing a BSP application for business card.I need to provide a preview button .
when the user clicks this button a
poopup window should open with the preview of business card.
My problem is how to pass the values like name , designation etc from the main page to popup window.

I was doing something similar...created a controller and a view , was calling the controller from window.open method with all other parameters for sizing etc.
How to pass a structure conatining data,from controller to the view...

Call controller from popup

Hi all !
I have a form where I have a button that opens a popup window.
Instead of that popup get its page directly from a JSP ( window.open(<MY_JSP>,...) ),
I want to call a method in a controller that will return the JSP to use in the popup.
Anyone knows how this can be done ?

Do you mean, dynamically choosing which JSP to load in that new window?
If thats the case, just call the controller from the window.open("controller servlet", ...) and in the servlet, just forward (dispatch) to the apporiate jsp.

[Integration] Web Dynpro ABAP calling Flex in Popup (without Flash Islands)

Hi,
We do not intend to install Enhancement Package 1 in a near future.
Nevertheless, we do have requirements where Flex should be integrated with Web Dynpro ABAP (Flex components embedded or 'attached' to Web Dynpro ABAP applications).
I would like to open a popup showing a Flex component. Then, the user validates and the Web DYnpro ABAP application is resumed. All this integrated within EP 7.0.
What, according to you, would be the most effective combination :
- Suspend / Resume plug
- Server-side cookies
- iFrame (although it is deprecated)
Given what I have read so far, it seems encapsulating the .swf within a BSP application would be the best shot. Could it be possible to get rid of this 'additional layer' ?

Hi Armin,
If you want to call data loss popup, you can do it in two ways.
1. Set is_dirty flag
use if_fpm_work_protection interface and use the method set_dirty () to set the is_dirty flag. Once you set this, by default FPM will call the data loss popup. also it is your responsibility to clear the is)dirty flag after the commit in your application.
2. Reimplement needs_confirmation method
if you are connected to FPM, you would have used if_fpm_ui_building_block. In this interface, you have a method needs_confirmation to call the data loss popup. use below code snippet.

Need to dynamically include an image file when calling a popup window

I am working on a web dynpro Java app which uses a button to call a popup window/view. Within the popup, I want to dynamically choose an image to show (from mime types) based on a criteria...there will be multiple buttons on the initial view that all call the same popup, but the popup will have content specific to which button called it (specifically the image embedded in the view).
My question is, what is the proper/best way to do this?
Here are some possible ways I can think of...
1. Pass a parameter from each button during the call of the event, but how does that get sent to the implementation of the second view for use in determining which image? And, how do I modify the source property of the image element based on that parameter?
2. Create multiple pages and views for each button to call...but this seems decidedly un-DRY.
3. Saw one posting on how to dynamically create a cached image...I could use different event handlers in the initial view, then load individual images from the mime library at that point...cache it into a hard-coded image name...then just call the identical view every time. Not sure this is even possible...input?
I don't know specifically how to implement any of these options, or know if there are other/better ways. Any help would be appreciated.

Just create a context attribute "imageFileName" in the component controller or a custom controller, map this attribute from both views (the one that contains the buttons and the one in the popup window that displays the image).
Now you can have an separate action for each button or one common action. In the first case just set the "imageFileName" inside the action handler for the specific button. In the second case use an action parameter "buttonId" and a parameter mapping
button.mappingOfOnAction().setParameter("buttonId", button.getId());
to determine which button triggered the action. After having checked which button was pressed, set the "imageFileName" accordingly.

Popup not INSERTing into table and not refreshing called page ...

Greetings
Environment: APEX 3.1.1.00.09 on AIX 5.3 in 10gR2
I have read many of the threads concerning my issue and I feel I am getting close to the answer but somehow have combined too many of the suggestions and am tripping over my own code.
Please look at my sample application on apex.oracle.com:
Workspace: galway
User: gwicke
Password: gwicke
Please start with Page3, select any Agency and then click 'Add New Contract'.
There is currently a <strong>BOLD </strong>label 'Add New Builder' that is a link that should open a popup window. Type any name into the field and click 'Create Builder'. This should INSERT the row into the builder table, close the popup, assign the new builder name to the calling page item 'Builder Name' and populate the screen item.
In it's current state, the application will open the popup window, allow entry and close upon clicking the 'Create Builder' button. However the new builder is NOT inserted into the table and the calling page item is not populated.
By looking at the Page Items and Session State I can see the correct values assigned to the 'Pn_BULDER_NAME' items on both the popup page (4) and the calling page (2) but the value does not appear on the screen.
I've read where there's really two parallel universes, no sorry, two versions of the screen items, one in Session State and one that is displayed in the browser and there are steps to take to be sure the one displayed is updated from Session State as I would like in this case.
I've entered Javascript code in the Page4 - header to define the 'passBack2()' function and code in the 'Optional URL Redirect' section of the 'Add Builder' button to hopefully execute the ARP for the INSERT, assign the Page2 items and close the popup. It doesn't quite get all that done.
Any helpp is greatly appreciated. Thanks to Denes for most of the code suggestions I've followed.

I think that there's a very simple solution to this - didn't really spot it last night.
Firstly, yes, you could use a "button" to handle the call for the popup - just make sure that the button is a URL type "button" that is actually an A tag with the call in the URL target setting. Alternatively, you could take you existing A tag and use the same class attribute for one of your buttons as this should make it look like a button.
More importantly, though, I think that we could do it as:
1 - On your page 2 popup call, clear that cache for page 4 (the popup page) - I have already done this in your app by updating the url
2 - On the popup page, allow the user to enter in their desired P4_BUILDER_NAME value (not sure if you want to do something to make this unique?)
3 - Let the user click the Create button on the popup. This will submit the page, which will get your P4_BUILDER_RANK (the pk) value and insert a new record into the table (you could consider creating a sequence and a trigger to handle the creation of a new PK value?).
4 - Assuming the P4_BUILDER_RANK then exists (it wouldn't if there was an error somewhere), then conditionally display a region that had a piece of javascript that submits page 2 and then closes itself - we don't need to pass anything back to page 2 (see below)
5 - As the P4_BUILDER_NAME and P4_BUILDER_RANK exist in the session, when page 2 is being reloaded, (A) the select list would be updated with the new Builder (still not sure why all my entries appeared at the bottom instead of in alpha order??) and (B) both P2_BUILDER_NAME and P2_BUILDER_RANK can have Post Calculation Computations set (NVL(:P4_BUILDER_NAME,:P2_BUILDER_NAME) and NVL(:P4_BUILDER_RANK, :P2_BUILDER_RANK) respectively) - the effect of this is, if there are values stored in the P4 page items, we use them, otherwise we use whatever values were in the P2 page items
6 - Finally, to stop (5) happening in all page 2 loads, you would need to clear the cache for page 4 in as many places as possible - eg, branches to page 2 or buttons on page 2
The reason we can't pass values back to page 2 is that one of the items is a select list. The value we want to select won't appear on the select list until the page has been submitted. So, we can't set the value and submit because the value isn't there. We can't submit and set the value because javascript wouldn't know when the page has been updated (or, at least, you would have to put some independant mechanism in place to identify this, which may become complicated).
So, simply put, as long as we know that if the values are in the session, we can use Post Calculation Computations to set our fields to these values. The only thing to bear in mind is that we need to ensure that these session values only exist when we need them - hence clearing the cache. This principle should work for any type of field - but, as you have no doubt seen, simple text fields can be updated by the popup directly as the field should accept any value we give it.
My only other recommendation would be to completely remove the MRU processes from the page as these are not required (they just confuse the issue) and you could make your PK fetch and record insert into a single process - just to keep things neat and tidy, you understand!
When I finished with your app last night, I did leave it so that javascript would create a new option on the select list and then set the value. But the above methodology seems to be a lot simpler.

Return listener not called for popup invoked from RichCommandToolbarButton

I have a popup dialog which is shown via the adf framework by specifying <run-as-dialog> on the <task-flow-call>.
This popup is shown in two different contexts: In one it is shown via RichCommandMenuItem, in the other it is shown via RichCommandToolbarButton. For both I do .setReturnListener via the same function pointing to the same MethodExpression.
Subsequently in the bean for the popup I do .returnFromDialog.
However, when the popup is invoked via the menu item, the return listener handler is called. But, when the popup is invoked via the toolbar button the return listener handler is not called.
Can anyone suggest any reasons why a return listener from a RichCommandToolbarButton might not be called?

Popup (minimized) out of focus - external ws call

Hi All,
I have a popup and a dialog (Ok, Cancel). On this popup I have exposed a java wrapper for calling an external web service as a data control button, say "Search Employee" button.
When I make a call on this popup by clicking the "Search Employee" button, the pop up stays for few seconds, and then loses focus (basically, I lose it). However, on re-clicking the button it is back in focus with the search results.
How can I have the popup stay up (in focus) until I click dialog buttons either Ok, or Cancel?
I have set type property on af:dialog to "okCancel", and did not see any difference.

In the popup Property Inspector under "Other" options there is a property called "AutoCancel" default value is "enabled" change it to "disabled" and this should fix popup being out of focus issue. There is excellent documentation for it here:

Popup is called too late

Dear collegues,
I call a WD popup method create_popup_to_confirm( ) from the
if_wd_window_manager. I have copied coding from NetWeaver Examples
in WD component WDR_TEST_POPUPS_RT_00.
Problem: the popup comes not after it was called by method open( ) but
much later in the screen flow process. Because it comes too late, I can
not handle the event "YES", "NO", "CANCEL".
Is there any kind of "flush" that forces the popup to come immediately?

I think you are doing everything inside your one method "SAVE" which is not the correct way to go about.Instead you can go as under:
Suppose in you view ,say "XYZ1", you have an event handler which will be called when user clicks on another tab,now inside this event handler you create an instance of window manager and call the CREATE_WINDOW method.
For this method there is a parameter called WINDOW_NAME to which you must be passing the name name of window(additional window apart from main one) and to this window you must have embedded some view.
As soon as you call the <b>open( )</b> method of window the control calls the WDDOINIT method of the embeded view(here you must subscribe to the events as per the buttons defined in your window).
For 3 different actions create 3 event handlers and suppose user clicks on YES button then in corresponding event handler,save the data to database and then close the window and navigate to the next tab.
Please check if you are missing something among these steps,otherwise everthing should work fine.

How to open a message popup and keep the sequence running ?

I have some steps in my sequence to initialize communication ports that takes a few seconds. As i have the trace off i want to display a message popup to tell the user that the sequence is doing the init. After the init steps are done i want to close the popup out of the sequence without pressing any button.
Is there a possibility in TestStand to do this ?
The normal Message popup stays until a key is pressed and even pauses the sequence while active.

You could call your message popup in a subsequence as new execution and terminate this execution programmatically after your init steps have finished.
In order to do this you have to specify (module) the sequence call step that calls your subsequence:
-Multithreading and Remote Execution = Run in a New Execution
-Settings: Initally Hidden and Tracing disable, Restartable, Close Window when done, Wait for Execution to complete: Do not wait, Process Model Option: Do not use a Process Model
-Store an Object Reference to the New Execution in: e.g. Locals.ExecutionRef
After your Init steps you insert a ActvieX/COM Action Step that terminates the new execution:
-Object Reference: Locals.ExecutionRef
-Automation Server: NI TestStand API 3.1
-Object Class: Execution
-Call Method or Access Property: Call Method
-Method: Terminate
This will terminate your new execution showing the message popup.

How to handle the "cancel" button and "close" icon of a popup ?

I have a popup with "cancel button" and "close icon"(on the top right corner of the popup), I want the same operations to be performed on clicking of any of these two components.
Is there a way to handle such situation ?
I read about 2 cases to look into this but they didn't work too well for me.
1. I read about the "popcancellistener" but that listener is called whenever the popup closes, so suppose I have an "ok button" on the popup to create a record, after the record is created, the popup closes and goes into the "popcancellistener", now the question is "how do we know if it came there because of the 'ok button' or 'some other event'".
2. I even checked the "DialogListener", now I'm able to distinguish between the 'OK' and 'CANCEL' button in the dialoglistener using the "Dialog.Outcome.ok/cancel", but when a user clicks on the close icon, we do not enter the "DialogListener" at all, so in this case "how do we handle the close icon click event"
Do let me know if you need any more information from my side.

In MVC, do i need a View or Page with flow logic for POPUP window

I have the below scenario using the MVC pattern.
I have a main view with 3 trays, each tray has two buttons, for example first tray has Create Order button. When I click on this button, I need a popup window to come with a tableview and a button(Create), where I select some rows and click on the button Create to create order.
But as per the MVC pattern I canu2019t call the view (popup) from another view(main view). So should I create a VIEW or PAGE WITH FLOW LOGIC for the popup? .
I need 6 popup to be called from the main view and once the function is done close the popup.
Please suggest me the flow for this scenario.

1. You can call the view in pop-up because you will be calling the controller using open.window.

Option2:
Ofcourse you can't bind the model in page becos those are 2 different things. But all you need to do is access the model to get some value. To know how to access the model from Page w/flow logic look at [this link|Passing model reference to a page in a Popup].

Calling custom dialog screen from Standard Transaction(user Exit)

But when I click 'continue/cancel' in the custom screen, control is going back to main cutom screen rather go back to standard transaction. So the command SET SCREEN 0. LEAVE SCREEN. should "place" the program just after the calling of the popup so here:
FUNCTION z_call_screen.
* Call the Pop up screen
    CALL SCREEN 9000 STARTING AT 35 05.
"<------------------------- The program should be here after going back from popup 9000
ENDFUNCTION.
