Frame number controlled by location

I have a movie that I want to play the frame number based on
the y location of an object gotoAndStop(slider._y);
the y direction can move the same number as there are frames
of the movie. it is a movie on a frame that I am trying to control,
so I was thinking it would have to look like:
_root.movies.gotoAndPlay(slider._y);
I want it to move the frame number when the object moves, so
not on(release)
any help would be great

When you say you have a movie, I take it you mean movie clip.
In the movie clip:
Make a layer for actionscript that extends throughout the
whole movie clip.
in actionscript type
stop();
on the stage:
you want to put an instance of the movie clip you created
onto the stage & give it an instance name
create a movie clip for your slider object.
//you get to figure out the listener objects & how to do
that
when the slider object is moved, call
[ your movie ].gotoAndStop(frame:Object)

  • Output Module preset "Use Comp Frame Number" won't save setting

    I have an Output Module Template for my DPX sequences.  I have the "Use Comp Frame Number" box checked, but upon restart of AE, the setting resets itself to Unchecked.  If I re-check it in the template settings, it works until I restart AE.  I have tried deleting the Template and rebuilding it but no luck.
    I am using the most recent AE 2014 build on Windows 7.  Ideas?  Thank you!

    Is your Output Module Template the first template in the list (alphabetically)? There is a known issue where the Use Comp Frame Number control is not correctly remembered in this case. To work around this, rename the template so it is not the first in the list. ex., Put it at the bottom of the list or put another template (maybe a dummy template?) above it.

  • How can I include the Frame Number  when using "Export Frame"?

    Im using the button at the bottom right of the Playback Control Panel called "Export Frame".  This does exactly what I need but I have a lot of frames that need single frame exporting. How can I get the file name to automaticly include the frame number at the end of the file name?
    For example, instead of it displaying "Sequence 01.Still001"  by default.  I would like for it to display "Sequence 01_0001"   Letting me know that is frame 0001.
    This is possible, correct?

    Well what about in the export option using CTRL + M?  I saw a coworker using this method in an older version of Premiere, but we can't enable it on CS5.5.  Being able to export a single frame as a bmp that has the frame number at the end of the file name.
    Example:
    Output Name: Sequence 01_0001.bmp
    Under Video Basic Setting is:
    Export As Sequence UNCHECKED
    Field Type: Progressive
    Frame number still doesn't show at end of file name.  What are we missing?

  • QTKit frame number (PLEASE HELP!)

    Hi,
    I would like to get the number of frame in a video using QTKit, how could I do this? I looked through the framework and there is no apparent way to refer to the frame number, what I would like to do is be able to refer to the frame number in order to insert frames from another video into the current video.
    If anyone has any suggestions of any sort (code is also very strongly appreciated) please help.
    Thanks
    Antoine

    All HP replacement part numbers end in -001, the replacement part number is normally located by the end user accessible memory slot on the bottom of the laptop.  I believe this is your machine:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01311536.pdf
    I looked at the system boards, there are 5 part numbers, but if you don't live in Germany, that gets rid of two, if it is not a AMD processor that gets rid of one, now you just need to find out the size of the video RAM 256 or 512 and you'll have narrowed it down.  Hope this helps, if it does, kindly give me some Kudos!

  • How to get the frame number of a label in a different scene.

    I am completely stumped on this.
    I have my project setup as the gameplay in one scene, and another scene for the outcome.
    The outcome scene, say called, GameDone, has 2 frames. The first frame for win, labeled it WON, the second frame for lost, labeled LOST.
    I could do the very simple thing and just gotoAndStop("GameDone", 1); but thats a bad practice, I believe.
    Ive gone through google and found the closest thing needing a MovieClip. I could not figure out what to give it? A random MovieClip? a new one? one from the next scene? one from the current scene?
    import flash.display.Scene;
    for (var i:uint = 0; i < mc1.scenes.length; i++) {
         var scene:Scene = mc1.scenes[i];
         trace("scene " + scene.name + ": " + scene.numFrames + " frames");
    That was an adobe sample.
    So how could I, in the gameplay scene, the frame number for either WON or LOST in the "GameDone" scene?
    Thanks.

    Try doing the simple thing that you think is a bad practice.  I don't know why you think it is.  The only problem with it is that you appear to have it backwards for AS3... in AS3 it is gotoAndStop(frame,scene);
    Why don't you use the frame labels instead of frame numbers?  gotoAndStop("Won", "GameDone");

  • How to stop animation sequence at a frame number?

    Hi all
    I've just recently started learning Flash (I have CS4) and I
    have a small simple animated sequence at the start which then leads
    to the main home page.
    now the animation part works fine but when I test it it just
    runs right through - it doesn't stop at my main page which then the
    viewer will click a button to go to a different part of the site
    etc.
    I've tried adding a stop actionscript but I'm sure I'm not
    doing it right! how do I refer the stop to the animation... do I
    have to enter the frame number I want it stopped at etc?
    if anyone can make any suggestions or point me in the
    direction of a tutorial (or the correct wording for me to do a
    search myself) then I would be very grateful!
    Thank you for your time :-)

    Thanks.. I manage to miss off the semi-colon and put the
    double dotted one (I've just gone blank on it's name) *sigh*
    I always manage to miss something 'small' off and then takes
    forever to spot it!
    thanks for your help.

  • How to get the footage's current frame number in expression?

    There are 2 layers.One is text layer,one is sequence layer.
    Footage has begun from the 20th frame.
    Therefore, the number of composition's current frame number and footage's frame number has shifted.
    I want to show footage's frame number in text layer . not composition's frame number.
    How to get the footage's current frame number in expression?
    Tatsuya

    >Footage has begun from the 20th frame.
    Do you mean that the footage layer has been trimmed (so that the start of the footage lines up with the start of the comp, but the first 19 frames are not visible), or moved to the left (so that frame 20 lines up with the comp's frame 0), or that the sequence actually begins with the 20th frame (at frame 0 of the comp), or something else?
    Are the frame rates of the comp and the footage the same?

  • Force start frame number in image sequence render

    I have a 900 frame comp rendered to a numbered image sequence.
    After applying a revision to frames 250-300, I would like to render
    only those frames, overwriting the originals.
    I have tried:
    Under >Render Settings, "Work Area Only", with "Skip existing files" off.
    This renders the correct frames as designated by the Work Area Bar,
    but the frame numbering begins at 1 instead of 250.
    Under >Render Settings, "Custom", with "Skip existing files" off.
    In the Custom fields, I specify frames 250-300.
    This renders the correct frames as designated by the Custom setting,
    but the frame numbering still begins at 1 instead of 250.
    Using both of the above settings, I have also tried to "force" a start frame
    in the Output Module by manually entering "filename_[00250]".
    The result is a new 51 frame sequence starting with "filename_[00250]_00001".
    How can I get a partial render to overwrite the correctly
    numbered original frames in an image sequence?

    I have figured out what I was doing wrong.
    I turns out that you can indeed force a start frame
    number in the Output Module, but I was using it incorrectly.
    Instead of having "Use Comp Frame Number" checked,
    I had specified a starting frame number (1 - the first frame of comp).
    The result is that regardless of what specified segment I rendered,
    the output frames always were numbered starting with frame 1.
    After checking "Use Comp Frame Number", problem solved.
    Thanks for the input in helping me track down my error.

  • Find the frame number of a label?

    Is it possible to find out the first frame of a label without going there then put it in a variable in AS2 or AS3?
    Thanks for the help,

    I actually had the same question. I've worked out a way of doing it in AS3.
    So first you can get all the frame labels on the MovieClip in question by using the currentLabels property (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/display/MovieClip.html). Then going through the array you can find your label as a FrameLabel object which has a frame property that will tell you the frame number (http://livedocs.adobe.com/flash/9.0/ActionScriptLangRefV3/flash/display/FrameLabel.html).
    Hope that helps

  • Modify Frame Number Label In Timeline

    Hello! Can the frame number be changed in PS? By default it starts at Frame 1, but I'd like to start at Frame 0. I ask because I am animating for games, and for sprite sheets I count frames in the programming fashion starting at Frame 0. If I could have PS start at Frame 0 rather than Frame 1 it would be very helpful for me. Even though it's a simple change it helps not to have to constantly rethink what frame is what.
    Thank you for reading!

    Like this?
    You have Show Duplicate Frames selected on in the timeline Sequence Settings, FCP is showing you that you used that footage elsewhere in your sequence.
    In FCP go to the menu Help > Final Cut Pro Help, and when that opens search for "Show Duplicate Frames".

  • Change frame rate while preserving frame number

    Hi -- I have PAL stock footage that I want to change to 29.97 -- but without adding new frames. I do not need to preserve running time, just frame number and motion quality. Is there a "preserve number of frames" option somewhere in QTPro I can't find? -- Thanks!

    It occurs to me: export from video to image sequence and then re-import ... a bit labor intensive! Any better methods? -- PH
