Frm-30457

FRM-30457: Warning: Maximum Length ignored for character-datatype subordinate mirror item DATA.FIELD2.
This has really been bugging me. If you try to have a field use synchronize it is very very picky about it.
Suppose you want to have char field2 be a copy of char field1. Then it seems like this has to be true:
field1 has to have 'data length semantics' null and can have some non zero length.
field2 has to have 'data length semantics' null and the maximum field length 0. What you can't have in particular
is have both of them byte semantics and/or both some length say 5.
forms 11.1.1.4

Hi
Pls note that this warning is generated when a non-zero value is specified for the Maximum Length property for a subordinate mirror item.
Regards,
Amatu Allah.

  • FRM-30457: Maximum Length ignored for character-datatype

    Hi,
    I have a oracle form. When i use Compile Module (Ctrl + T) I am getting the following error:
    FRM-30457: Warning: Maximum Length ignored for character-datatype subordinate mirror item MAIN_CONTROLS.DATA1.
    Can anyone help to resolve this warning message?

    Hi,
    Check the data type of MAIN_CONTROLS.DATA1, i think, it must be a number.
    Or you might have not added the maximum length for MAIN_CONTROLS.DATA1.
    I found the below when I surfed.
    Error Message: FRM-30457: Warning: Maximum Length ignored for character-datatype subordinate mirror item %s.%s.
    Error Cause:
    A non-zero value was specified for the Maximum Length property in a subordinate mirror item whose Data Type is CHAR, ALPHA, or LONG. The Maximum Length property for such an item will be obtained from the master mirror item (the item specified by the Synchronize with Item property).
    Action:
    Specify the Maximum Length property in the master mirror item.

  • Form problem:30457

    I am getting form:-30457. It says maximum length ignored for character-datatype
    subordinate mirror item patprt.mrun2. Plz give me some feedback to solve the problem. Thanks.

    Symptom(s)
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    1. Getting FRM-30457 Maximum length ignored for character-datatype suborindate
    mirror item.
    Change(s)
    ~~~~~~~~~~
    1. Migrating 6i FORMS to 9i FORMS.
    Cause
    ~~~~~~~
    The behavior of synchronized items (mirror items) has changed. The warning
    indicates that though the subordinate item has a maximum value assigned, this
    value will be ignored and taken from the master item.
    Fix
    ~~~~
    1.Specify the Maximum Length property in the master mirror item.
    2. In the mirrored item inherit the maximum length property by pressing
    the "Inherit" button on the property palette toolbar.

  • FRM-30442?

    I have upgraded some forms from Forms 4.5 to Forms 9. I get some compilation errors.
    FRM-30442: Warning: Required property ignored for subordinate mirror item MET.SO_IDENT.
    In the Property Palette I changed the Required column from YES to NO, and then the error disappears. Can someone tell me why I don't get the error message when the Required column is set to NO?? In this form it is required that this column is set to YES.
    I also get this error:
    FRM-30457: Warning: Maximum Length ignored for character- datatype subordinate mirror item CO_ANALYS. I would really appreciate if someone can tell me why this error appears and what I can do to prevent this warning.
    Regards
    Roar

    Looks like some of your items are defined as a "mirror item",That's correct, there are items defined as mirror item. If they inherit some properties from the synchronized one, why do I get the compilation error? What can I do to prevent that this errors occur?

  • PO Form problem

    I am new to the EBS though I have worked on forms before. We have Apps 12.1.1 and I am working on Forms 10.1.2
    I have some custom changes to be made in PO form (POXPOEPO). So I grabbed the FMB and opened it. Without any changes, I tried to re-compile. But it threw errors FRM-30458, FRM-30438, FRM-30457 for mirror items in blocks of PO_LINES, PO_SHIPMENTS and PO_DISTRIBUTIONS. So I deleted WVI triggers attached to these fields. Also changed few properties like Maximum Length => 0, Database Item => No, Query/Insert/Update Allowed => No. Recompilled and put the FMX back on the apps server. Now if I open the form, it remains in enter-query mode. In original functionality, it executes the query after navigating to the form. What wrong I did ?
    Second issue is : I can query the records and can create new records. But when I check in database, there are no records in PO_HEADERS_V, PO_LINES_V, PO_LINE_LOCATIONS_V, PO_DISTRIBUTIONS_V. Thses are all database dada blocks. So I am wondering where are these records coming from and where is it storing.
    Can anyone help me please.

    Much appreciated your replies Srini, Hussein.
    I am using test instance and we have backup copies of all seeded forms. But this is very good suggestion of creating new custom form.
    I am working on my machine which is XP. The app is on oracle enterprise linux 5, 64 bit. I copied the FMB on linux box and dba generated it with command frmcmp_batch.sh module=/TEST/apps/au/12.0.0/resource/US/forms/POXPOEPO.fmb with userid, output_file, module_type, compile_all parameters.
    I believe this is what you need to generate the form.Yes this is the correct method - did the form compile successfully ?

    Yeah MOAC is a functional security element I understand now. It secures the data contexts across organizations through oracle responsibilities - However, I'm not convinced about how that might affect you seeing data in tables / views.If you are using SQL*Plus (or similar tool) to query the multi-org "_V" views, you have no choice but to set application context, else queries will not return any data.

    Hi,
    your package " app_special" does a call to "execute_trigger('SPECIAL20');" ,
    but there is no trigger with this name in your form. ( perhaps an Menu-item exists with this name.)
    Lock for "execute_trigger" in:
    app_special.instantiate('SPECIAL20', 'View Order Report');

  • FRM-92101 error while running report from a button or menu

    Hi All,
    I am getting the error FRM-92101 while running report without parameter from a button or menu. I am using Developer Suit 10g. I get the error as it shows there has some configuration problem in my form. Will you please help me anyone how can i solve the problem. My previous forms running very well both with parameter and without parameter.
    Arif

    Hello Sir,
    Thanks for your cooperation. I have solved my problem by myself. The fact was that, when i tried with the following code which made my report---
    SELECT br.bid, br.bname, br.branchtxnstatus, dif.difference
    FROM branch br,
    (SELECT gladbrid branchid,
    SUM
    (CASE
    WHEN ga.gl_acc_categry IN ('L', 'I')
    THEN gd.gladbalance
    ELSE -1 * gd.gladbalance
    END
    ) AS difference
    FROM glaccount ga, glaccountdetail gd
    WHERE ga.glid = gd.gladglid
    GROUP BY gladbrid) dif
    WHERE dif.branchid = br.bid AND br.branchtxnstatus = :Br_Status
    and dif.difference!=0
    ORDER BY br.bid;
    and the code against the button or menu item is---
    DECLARE
    repid REPORT_OBJECT;
    v_rep VARCHAR2(100);
    rep_status VARCHAR2(20);
    BEGIN
    repid := FIND_REPORT_OBJECT('ASSET');
    v_rep := RUN_REPORT_OBJECT(repid);
    rep_status := REPORT_OBJECT_STATUS(v_rep);
    WHILE rep_status in ('RUNNING','OPENING_REPORT','ENQUEUED')
    LOOP
    rep_status := report_object_status(v_rep);
    END LOOP;
    IF rep_status = 'FINISHED' THEN
    /*Display report in the browser*/
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT('http://192.168.0.21:8889/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'||
    substr(v_rep,instr(v_rep,'_',-1)+1)||'?'||'server=repserver90','_blank');
    ELSE
    message('Error when running report');
    END IF;
    Clear_message;
    END;
    Clear_message;
    which has shown the error FRM-92101 and didn't run the report.
    In that case I have changed the query to run the report. first of all i create a view following the query and build the report using a simple select query. that's etc. my report running fine now.
    It is mentioned that there had no error on my codes.

    Hi ayadsufyan,
    As it looks Andreas assumption of internal status change was correct. So taking into account this fact I would assume you are doing some data manipulation on the row you are unable to delete.
    What I would suggest to do is to put the following code in your KEY-DELREC trigger :
    clear_message;
    message(:system.record_status);pause;Now when you delete the record you should get the INSERT status of the record. If so it definitely means you are doing some manipulation on the record you are trying to delete. From this point on you will have to pinpoint the offending code.
    Best regards.
