FSG output in excel

hello all,
Is there any way to publish FSG report in excel? I remember we had one report to generate FSG in excel in 11i but that report I can not see in R12. Is there any patch that I need to apply?

Hi:
You can try this.
1. Set the output type of FSG report as XML.
2. Run the FSG report
3. Run XML publisher and select the request id of FSG report run earlier and FSG template (excel, pdf).
4. You can see the desired output.

Hi All,
I would like to publish my FSG reports in Excel format. I know XML Publisher can do this and have been trying various things, but the output is always PDF.
Firstly;
I am using the Concurrent Request Program: Publish Basic FSG. I have defined a Data Definition and template and associated them together. I have also updated the Concurrent Request Program in System Administration with the template that I want to be the default. However when I try and submit the request Program: Publish Basic FSG and select Format Excel in the Layout option, the report always publishes and opens as a PDF. I also tried changing this to HTML to ensure excel wasnt an incorrect option, yet it still comes out in PDF.
Please Help?
Secondly;
What is the reason for the layout template option does not defaulting in, if the Concurrent Request Program: Publish Basic FSG is set to Text instead of XML?

You're on a late enough version I think. Log a TAR and ensure its routed to XMLP as the product. IT will get to our support team and on our radar. As much info as possible will be helpful ... screen shots, etc.

Hi All,
I have one question. Are You All Able to get the Output In EXCEL Format?? I am working on Oracle Apllication 11.5.10.2 and my XML builder is 5.0.1. Problem which i m facing is this...... Whenever i am submitting a concurrent program with format type different from PDF i could not able to view the ouput in desired format. When i am pressing view output it gives me a file in XML and when i save that file with extention 'xls' or 'rtf' then i could able to see the saved file in desired format.
Can anyone tell me where is the problem??? Is it a bug?
I am using microsoft world 2000 sp-3.
Please give your valuable comments. May be your comments can solve my problem..

When I change Format to EXCEL from
Submit request>> Option>> Format = EXCEL
In window I am getting something HTML code and
when I try to copy it to Browser from Tools>> Copy File in to Browser I am getting following message

Down Loading ALV Output to Excel Sheet

Hi All,
I am working on Vendor Line Items Report which have both Header details as well as line item details.
So i developed Heirarical ALV to display the output and it is working fine.But my problem is Downloading output to Excel sheet functionality is not working.
In output screen LIST->EXPORT->SPREADSHEET functionality is not working.
Please give me suggestions regarding the same or is there any another way to do the same by using ALV List Display.

XML Publisher report default output in Excel format.

We have defined one concurrent program whose output format is text, this concurrent program executable is PL/SQL and in this PL/SQL program we are generating XML data and displaying XML using below fnd_request.

Sending report output to Excel

Dear buddies
I'm using OLE Object in my report to send its output to excel. I find this way from an example at the same forum. But I feel that this example is for very small sized reports which have to send a few cells to excel because in this method we've to map each boiler plate and data field to excel like this.

Is there anyway that OLE Object should automatically detect all my Report Labels and fields or some other solution in yours minds???

2) The directory where to put the report file is specifiend in a file named
<serverName>.conf
in the sourceDire property
<property name="sourceDir" value="/directory/dove/mettere/i/report"/>
that you can find under ORACLE_HOME/reports/conf
3) The URL is
http://<server IAS address>:<port number>/<jsp file path>/<repName>.jsp?server=<report server name>&userid=<user>/<pwd>@<DB conn string>[&<param>=<valore>[&...]]
5) In IE you have only to set the previous URL in the address bar.

in your case, you might want to make the following :
a) use DESFORMAT=HTML
b) use MIMETYPE=application/vnd.msexcell (or whatever mimetype your excel application is bound to)
i am nor sure if excel will understeand our HTMLCSS (which is actually HTML4.0 using layers for best possible rendering of the paper page in the browser).

Is it possible to display a date as (DD-MON-YYYY) in excel output using excel template in xml publisher where date should be displayed as date only not string.

I've tried to use hierarchy node variables, but it seems like you can't specify a attribute of the hierarchy such as level. So with the WBS hierarchy, if you create a hierarchy node variable, you specify the WBS value to select (If I understand this correctly). I wish I could instead specify "give me all the WBS nodes that happen to have the value of the level attribute greater or equal to 3. If I understand Juergens post, he is saying make security access so that only certain WBS levels can be returned in the query. I suppose we can try that, but that would then preclude getting the level 1 and 2 in the future if the authorization is global.

I am working on a similar format for a report and if possible can you please give me some guidelines. I have initially created reports using XML Publisher, but for those , the output preview format was PDF. So, if I select the preview format as EXCEL will it give me output in Excel and for this to happen, how do I define the rtf template. I believe the working will be same as for PDF, create a rdf report, get output in XML and apply the template to get the data in Excel or there is something different to this.

Output in Excel Format Issue

I am not able to view the output in EXCEL format after registered the RTF file in the XML Publisher Administrator to run as a concurrent program.

Hi,
I am stuck in an issue and need some guidance.
I have developed a paper report in 10g. I modified the web source and added a frame to display the report in web browser.
I updated the web source as below to display the output in excel format.

I tried to set
desformat = SPREADSHEET and delimited both.
I can see the report in web browser; however I am not able to display it as EXCEL format.

application/vnd.ms-excel is the MIME type for a binary (proprietary) format that MS uses as default up to version Excel 2000. desformat = SPREADSHEET does not create a binary file, but a representation of the data in a tabular format.
I am not able to display it as EXCEL formatOracle Reports cannot generate any format defined by Microsoft. For options how to generate "Excel" files see {message:id=9360007}.

XML Publisher with output type EXCEL is taking time to finish than for PDF

Hi Guru's,
I got a strange problem.
When i submit a report by choosing output format type as EXCEL, it is taking much time to complete. The same report if i choose PDF finishing in half of the time of EXCEL report. Also when we go with "view output" it is taking 4 mins to show the output. Total number of records existed are 6000 only.
Please suggest me the solutions or alternatives if any.

Whilst I know nothing about XML Publisher I do know that putting any sort of output into Excel format takes a long time. It's because it has to be done on a cell-by-cell basis. It's much faster to blat stuff out row-by-row.

Problem to display a negative number in XML Publisher output in excel

Hi All,
I am facing problem in displaying a negative number in XML Publisher output in excel.
My requirement is that I have to display a negative number in brackets when the output is taken in excel format. Eg: If the value is -123 then i have to display it as (123).
I have put these brackets using a formula column in the RDF, but it is the default functionality of excel that whenever there is a number in brackets then it automatically displays that as a negative value.
Can anyone please help me how I can display this negative number within brackets and not as a negative digit. Is there any special tag or is there any formula which can be used to convert this into text and written in the Help text of RTF template.

Want to convert RDF output in Excel & Pdf Format.

I want that when i run my report with showing the output report builder also convert that file or ask me an option in parameter that in which view you want to see the output of the report in Report Builder, In Excel, or In Pdf. when i choose Excel it open the excel and show the output in Excel, if select Pdf it open Acrobat Reader and open the output in Pdf.

secondly i apply the same line in my button press as i show you my code before and you said add only the code line which you send i do it but no result same in Report builder the report output is not showing in PDF i am using Report Builder 6i

I also change in the System parameter DESFORMAT , Initial Value as a PDF
