Fstab accidentally altered - does this now look acceptable?

Hi,
my /etc/fstab was inadvertently altered and I had to recreate most of it from memory.  I am able to boot into my system so this "works" but I do not believe it was identical to my prior version or if someone has any suggestions for improvements to the options.  I am sure all of the partitions are correctly linked to the entry (I had a list of it from my install):
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0
shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid 0 0
/dev/sda5 /boot ext3 defaults,noatime 0 1
/dev/sda10 swap swap defaults,noatime 0 0
/dev/sda3 / ext3 defaults,noatime 0 1
/dev/sda8 /home ext3 defaults,noatime 0 1
/dev/sda9 /usr ext3 defaults,noatime 0 1
/dev/sda7 /tmp ext3 defaults,noatime 0 1
/dev/sda6 /var reiserfs defaults,noatime 0 1
Thank you a lot!

Thanks for the help and I will add UUID soon.  As far as /var is concerned, is it possible to switch the filesystem since I have already made it reiserfs?
Also, what does barrier=flush do for reiserfs (can't find much from google search).  Here is an updated version:
# /etc/fstab: static file system information
# <file system> <dir> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
devpts /dev/pts devpts defaults 0 0
shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid 0 0
/dev/sda5 /boot ext3 defaults,noatime 0 2
/dev/sda10 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/sda3 / ext3 defaults,noatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1
/dev/sda8 /home ext3 defaults,noatime,nosuid,nodev,errors=remount-ro 0 2
/dev/sda9 /usr ext3 defaults,noatime,nodev,errors=remount-ro 0 2
/dev/sda7 /tmp ext3 defaults,noatime,nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 2
/dev/sda6 /var reiserfs defaults,noatime,nodev,nosuid,noexec,barrier=flush 0 2
EDIT: I added persistent labelling. I removed all of the /dev/sda* and replaced with UUID=[alphanumeric code] to match output of "sudo blkid"

  • I was able to look at my pictures taken without having to comlpete an action. Now when I want to look at my pictures taken it is asking complete action using Gallery or Photos. Why is it doing this now?

    Just got this phone and trying to understand everything. Verizon does not have a very good instruction manual for this phone.

    MollyOlly wrote:

    That is because Verizon does not make the phone and therefore does not make the manual for the phone.
    You weren't asked to choose an app to look at the photos when you took them because you were already using an app, the camera, and didn't need to open an app in order to look at the photos.
    Normally when you look at photos, you will use "Gallery" or "Photos" however there are other apps you can install in order to look at them. If you are already in an app which has the capability to open photos, you would not be prompted to choose another app to open in order to view them.
    Since you are simply trying to look at your photos and not simply reviewing them after taking them, you don't already have an app open with photo viewing capability. Your phone, therefore, is asking you which app you would like to view the photos with. Try both, use the one you prefer.

  • Why is it doing this now?

         The download speed was perfectly fine for like 3 days, and now it just horrible again and the file size and things of that nature are the same. I have been using the same preset for all the downloads, and I just don't know why it is taking longer. The upload speed is quick as usual. Can anyone help this is really starting to get annoying.

    I was not sure of what you were doing based on the description you gave of your situation at the onset of your original thread that I cited in post #1 in this thread.
    But, I asked questions and the answers that I thought I got from you made me think that we were in sync regarding your references to uploading and downloading, rather importing and exporting.
    So best we go back, compare notes, and get a firmer details base. Let us refer to your post #2 in this thread.
    1. Are you saying that you are in Premiere Elements 11 Windows? Have imported your media (whatever it may be) using Add Media to get it into Project Assets and from there you drag it to the Timeline for edit. OK, so far?
    2. Are you saying that you then take that Timeline and go to Publish+Share/Computer/AVCHD and use Presets = YouTube Widescreen HD (maybe make some changes of export settings under the Advanced Button/Video and Audio Tabs of the preset), and then hit Save to export that Timeline to a AVCHD.mp4 file on the hard drive.
    3. Here is the critical question if I am on track so far. Are you questioning the amount of time that it takes for that particular AVCHD.mp4 export to go to completion, 30 minutes time versus 5 hours time?
    It is your use of the terms download coupled with upload that is making me wonder about the whole question. I am not a stickler for terminology just as long as I know we are talking about the same thing.
    But, assuming that you agree with my posted understanding, the important matter is why the difference in export times. Obviously answer seems to be: it has got to be in the computer or the media on the Timeline.
    a. To rule out the media which you think are all the same...do you have the project saved that gave you the 30 export time. If so, open that project and see if you can still get that Timeline exported in 30 minutes. Then confirm that the present project is still giving you the 5 hours export time.
    b. Rethink the Timeline content to make sure you are not overlooking something different you have done in terms of the complexity of the Timeline. Check your Advanced Button/Video and Audio Tabs export settings to determine if you have unknowingly changed a setting...or are you using the same customized export setting each time? What are we talking about in terms of duration of the Timeline that is heading to become an AVCHD.mp4 (is this AVCHD 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720)...do all your exports have the same frame size and variable bitrate settings? Apparently you are ruling out the application of effects from this matter.
    c. Go over your computer to make sure it is still optimized...from the point of view of Premiere Elements.... pile ups of previews and conformed audio and video files. Check the Scratch Disks (Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks to make sure that they are still directed to a location that has enough free hard drive space to accept them.
    Please review and do not hesitate to let me know if I am still out of sync with what you are doing and asking.
    Thanks for the follow up and asking for clarification on the communications. Very important.
    Thanks.

  • How does this PSU look?

    http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=17-148-009&catalog=23&manufactory=BROWSE
    hard to see but looks like the AMPS are as follows -30 32 35
    right now im running 18a on the 12v rail, too low for me (system is stable but i want more, im upgrading and dont like the idea of running out of power)

    I got  this Power supply(blue version)from Newegg about 3 weeks ago,and it is great addition to my system.The label reads--+3.3V=30A,+5V=32A,+12V=35A.It has 3 fans that are controlled by knob on back,also thermal speed control as load rises.I have knob set in the middle and it has reduced my case temps about 3 degrees.Also it is very quiet,unless you turn it all the way up.My system is very stable.
     Also unlike the photos, all the wires are UV sleeved ,and it comes with thumb screws to mount it.It has a quality look and feel to it.

  • Does this server look like it'll work?

    I coded this pretty quickly, and after a number of attempts to code a client that works, I still don't have any luck. I'm starting to wonder whether it's the server or the client that's the problem.
    I was wondering if someone could take a quick look and tell me if there's anything specific that sticks out.

  • Why does this text look a little different in Firefox?

    Look at the difference between Firefox's text and Konquerors. (Firefox is on top, Konq on bottom)  Firefox's is rather... ugly; konquerors is how the site is supposed to look.  Why is that, and how can I fix it?  Firefox looks fine on pretty much every other site except that one, but I go there often and the text looking like that is bothersome haha.  It's not a huge deal, but it would be nice to fix if I can but I don't even know where to start.

    Firstly, I too think, that Firefox displays the page in a better way. Tahoma is amongst my favourite fonts.
    ConnorBehan wrote:Why is the (5656 viewing) part only in the Firefox screenshot?
    Easy explanation. He displayed both pages shortly each after, this is why under Konqueror there is one more posting. He is using Firefox as his primary browser I guess, therefore Konqueror has him not marked as logged in. Only logged in users have the information displayed, how many users are viewing some particular subforum.

  • Does this software look legit or is it a pirate copy?

    Hi guys,
    I stumbled across this the other day and was wondering if it's legit?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Adobe-CS5-5-Production-Premium-2x-Volume-License-Includes-After-Ef fects-CS5-5-/231153861901?
    I've messaged him and he has told me it's legit. I'm guessing I could buy and then send the serials to adobe to check but then again if they're not I imagine I'll struggle to get my money back.
    Thanks for any help

    First, "2x Volume License" and "(you can install on up to 2 machines)" seems odd... the STANDARD license allows 2 installs
    Second "Software and installation code will be delivered on a 16GB USB2.0 Flash Drive" is a BIG red flag to me... this MAY be real, but with no DVD install media, the seller downloaded the software from "somewhere" - which MAY be Adobe
    Looking at his eBay feedback there are several buyers who are happy with the same/similar product... so this MAY be a good buy... I just really can't say for sure

    Dont think it is but asking anyway.
    Yeah, he pm'd me about it. I said that I doubt it could be why and just ask on the forum and if no resolve contact the moderators to see why.
    I believe the second hop is the gateway? I'm thinking faulty hardware or miss-configured but that is just a shot in the dark.
    I believe he is also having problems with speed, also on a pathping it would just stop at hop 2 and not continue which I've never seen either.

  • Programming project: does this code look clean enough to turn in?

    Hi, i was just wanting to know people's opinion on the format of my classes below, i haven't done much java programming and I just want to make sure that this program is easily understood. I will not be able to respond, because I have to wake up in 3 hours for school. So thanks in advance, I will be reading this tomorrow, to see your suggestions, thank you.
    here is the scholar class, it is the class that i made to create a scholar(student object) that will be applying for a scholarship and the grades are entered in the ScholarTester class.
    I could've done things differently and easier but the professor strictly called for it to be exactly as he stated. I came up with a better, less tedious way, but i couldn't use it. My way was to create a method to randomly generate grades and values to determine the major, but my prof. saw it and made me implement everything in ScholarTester. Also neither of the students will receive the scholarship, that will be determined in project 2 my professor said.

    On comments: don't include a comment that just repeats syntax:
    // constructor for a Scholar object
    public Scholar(String myFullName, ...Anyone knowing Java syntax doesn't need that comment and gains nothing
    from its presence, and anyone not knowing Java syntax shouldn't be reading
    a listing.
    On parameter names: a isn't very imaginative or prescriptive. (See next code.)
    On setters returning the argument:
    public int setCreditHours(int creditHours ){
        this.creditHours = creditHours ;
        return creditHours;
    }1. Most people keep it simple and use a void return type.
    2, The next most common convention is to return this:
    public Scholar setCreditHours(int creditHours){
        this.creditHours = creditHours ;
        return this;
    }Then you can chain calls, which is occasionally useful:
    scholar.setCreditHours(4).setEssayScore(2);3. If you insist on returning the argument, note that this is a one-liner:
    public in setCreditHours(int creditHours){
        return this.creditHours = creditHours ;
    }

  • Does this site look awful to everyone using Google Chrome or just me?

  • Does this code look right

    <?php
    $name=$_POST['name'];
    $email=$_POST['email'];
    $location=$_POST['location'];
    mysql_connect("your.hostaddress.com", "username", "password") or die(mysql_error());
    mysql_select_db("Database_Name") or die(mysql_error());
    mysql_query("INSERT INTO `data` VALUES ('$name', '$email', '$location')");
    Print "Your information has been successfully added to the database.";
    ?>

    What colors? You mean in code view?
    Actually your last line should be this -
    print ("Your information has been successfully added to the database.");
    Other than that, the code and its coloring are correct as far as I can tell.

  • New PC - does this look suitable?

    I'm looking to replace an old PC with a custom build:
    - i7-3770 3.4GHz
    - H77 chipset
    - 16GB DDR-1600 RAM
    - 3TB HDD
    - 256GB SSD
    - DVD Writer
    - On board graphics only
    - RaidMax Super Hurricane case
    - 500W PSU
    - Win8 or 7 64 bit
    - Card Reader
    I will continue to use a 30" (2560*1600) monitor.
    Does this spec look suitable for Lightroom / PSE and some basic video editing in Premiere Elements with plenty of headroom (I assume LR5 will gobble even more resources than LR4!!)?

    I would look seriously at a Xeon Quad processor instead of the i7 even if the Xeon had only 2.8 Ghz or 3 Ghz.
    Processor speed is not everything; you also need to look at workload, i.e. throughput.
    Don't be taken in for a "gamer's PC" - a gamer needs speed above all but the games have a relatively "thin" data stream.
    16 GB of RAM seems almost overkill; I have 12 GB and run Lr and Photoshop (+ a bunch of other programs) at the same time with no problems.
    I would replace the 3 TB drive with 3 drives @ 500 GB each. Keep in mind that with Lr that constantly reads and writes to and from the HD, the read-and write cycles build up. If you have only one internal HD it has to do all the read-and-write cycles and that can slow down your system, i.e. your RAM and processor have to wait for the drive to spin and do its reading and writing.
    But if you have 3 internal drives you are able to distribute the read-and-write cycles on 3 drives simultaneously.
    I'm not sure about your onboard graphics. When I looked into the specs of my new computer (now about 9 months old) I found that onboard graphics alone would not be optimal.
    Again, i think it's good enough for browsing the web and gaming. But photo editing, particularly if you have a camera with a full-frame sensor, i.e. large Raw-files, it's a different matter.
    I would not go with onboard graphics alone - my personal opinion. But then again, you can try it out, and - if there's a slot for it - get a graphics card later.

  • Help me...does this look good?!?!?

    Hey all,
    I want a G4 to use in my music studio, have found one on ebay, does this look good to you...
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8792713494&rd=1&sspagename= STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1
    If you can't access that, basically it's this...
    Computer is in excellent condition, has been well loved and well upgraded:- 200GB hard disk (5400rpm) Dual 867 MHz, 1MB L3 cache per processor 1.25GB DDR SDRAM 16x DVD+/- RW (Superdrive) 4x DVD+ RW (original Superdrive) 4x USB 2.0 ports 2x USB 1.0 ports 2x Firewire ports Airport Card (WiFi) Ethernet Card 56kbps Modem Digital in/out for audio Again it is in excellent condition, well loved.
    Oh and there is still 2 slots left for memory upgrade and 4 other slots for your other upgrades, i.e. more firewire, usb, graphics card, music adaptors etc. I used the machine mostly for video editing and graphic design and it handles everything I throw at it. It is a beast of a computer but sadly by job entails I have a laptop now I will also include all the software that comes with it.
    Think it sounds good? What price do you reckon???
    Thank you!
    Olivia x
    G4 I hope

    If you do decide to bid I'd keep in mind that it's the base model MDD G4 with a 133MHz system bus (the others had 167MHz). It's also one of the original models that got the nickname of wind tunnel as they could be fairly noisy, so much so that Apple under went a power supply replacement program using quieter fans, which may be an issue if it's intended for audio use. I'm not sure whether it's had the power supply replaced, but Verax also offered a noise reduction kit, which may give some indication of how noisy it can be.
    I'm not trying to put you off though, but I'd keep the above in mind if you do intend to place a bid.

  • Why does my project look like this?

    Hello to all. I am in the process of setting right my media...reorganizing my projects and events, deleting duplicates, deleting render files etc. I was puzzled to come across this appearance of one of the projects. FYI, I am using event manager to ensure that not more than one or two events/projects are presented to FCPX at any point of time. Here is this screenshot:
    Usually if there is some problem with events not being available [the project looks red in color and some warning is given] I am accustomed to the warning icon at the starting place of the project. Clicking upon that icon brings up the inspector window and clicking the modify event references button at the bottom usually settles the issue.
    When I ran the skimmer over the project, I was able to view the video and even hear the audio of this 'closed looking' project.
    Right now I have done this: click upon relink project files. I was able to locate all the files and have pressed the relink button and the process of relinking is going ahead.
    I dont know or understand what I am doing, but would like to know how this project has donned such an appearance as this one? Knowing this will help me to be more careful in future. Had I failed to locate the files, it could be that I would have lost the project.

    Upon rebooting and opening the application, I got this:
    The closed and blue colored appearance of the clipsremained unchanged. Placing the cursor upon the clip opens up that segment and the corresponding part of the project turns up in the viewer. Sound is also audible while skimming over the project.
    The project plays in the project library:
    While so playing, both audio is heard and the video is seen in the viewer, in a normal fashion. While the video is playing, that 'clip' is open in the project as seen at the cursor location in the shot above. But, when the video is stopped, the 'clip' in the project closes down and only the red skimmer is visible:
    The project opens in the timeline and also plays normally as well:
    Tom, I do not understand what all these 'abnormal' things mean. May I ask this : what is meant by consolidation of project media and can I click upon this option?
