Sending MIME information while doing FTP in OSB

Hi All,
I'm trying to FTP a file to webmethods through an OSB process.
If FTP is done from a command prompt or FileZilla to the location using MIME type like below, it works
"ABC;application:x-wmflatfile" where "ABC" is the file name and "application:x-wmflatfile" is the MIME type.
Now, inside the OSB, I have specified a file name in a transport header, and added the MIME type along with it as ABC;application:x-wmflatfile.
Also, I have specified two additional transport headers
1. HTTP Content-Type to 'application:x-wmflatfile'
2. HTTP-Accept to 'application:x-wmflatfile'
But the file is not going to the webmethods end and giving an error
Error occured for the service endpoint: com.bea.wli.sb.transports.TransportException: File could not be renamed from: ABC;application:x-wmflatfile.a to ABC;application:x-wmflatfile.
Is there anything else I need to do to get this one working.

I would guess the error happens at this line:
} while(!(Character.isDigit(reply.charAt(0)) && ...
because apparently reply.length() is 0 at the point of failure, so charAt(0) is beyond the end of the string. You need to check the length first.

FTP Adapter on OSB - how to specify logical directory path

I am using the ftp adapter on osb 11g (Oracle Service Bus Version: [Oracle Service Bus Server Side Dependencies 11.1 Thu Aug 19 02:10:08 PDT 2010 ] Oracle Weblogic Server Version: [WebLogic Server 10.3.4.0 Fri Dec 17 20:47:33 PST 2010 1384255 ])
I defined the ftp adapter using jdev and imported the jca artifacts into osb.
I created a business service using jca adapter to put the file to the ftp server.
The problem is the write directory on the ftp server is different for each environment - DEV, QA, PROD.
I used a physical directory specification when defining the adapter in JDEV because it wasn't clear from the help how i would override a logical directory during deployment to osb (it is clear if deploying to soa suite).
Is there a way to override this dynamically override this directory at runtime. Or even better a way to override during deployment time?

Import the SBConfig jar into the sbconsole and change the value in the JCA file

FTP Transport in OSB 10gR3

I've just created a Business Service in OSB to send a message using the FTP transport. Although OSB connects with the FTP server but gets a 500 code response from it and the PUT command fails. This is the console output:

I belive that this response from the FTP server means that a reconnection to a higher port is required. Anyone knows if this functionality is managed by the FTP transport implementation used by OSB10gR3?

So you would like to set the filename that is contained the JMS message custom headers?. While creating your JMS Proxy you have to follow these steps
1) While creating JMS Proxy in Transport Configuration page select Get All Headers =Yes
2) If file name is set as user defined property in JMS message then use $Header in you pipeline/message flow. This variable will hold your user defined properties. If the user defined property is part of JMS message then use $body.

Specifying the filename for outbound FTP transport in OSB

I want an OSB based service that will send via FTP a file with a specific name to a remote ftp location.
It appears OSB can't do this because the FTP transport on a business service only allows you to specify the prefix and suffix and then generates a big long file name for the midlle parts.
Does someone know how to override this and specify the name that you want teh remote file name to be called?

Getting remote file using FTP Server Issue in OSB

Hi Guys,
I have configured a FTP server on my local system and I created a proxy service to get file from ftp location to some other location but it fails . I used ftp protocol for getting file
and my ftp location is D:\host\ftp and it has another folder called osb . I used ftp as protocol and EndPointURI is ftp://localhost/. It fails to get files and shows error message like

I used service account for both proxy,BS to connect . osb is username and same as password.
Can Any one please suggest me How to solve this issue?

Can we do the pooling directly using FTP protocol like JMS protocol in OSB with out using FTP JCA Adapter.I did in such a way but it fails. For pooling files the mentioned endpoint uri is as ftp://localhost/ and it actual path is D:\host\ftp and ftp has another folder called osb here i have to get the files from this osb Can any one suggest me if there is any problem with the ftp protocol end point.

How to provide specific filename on FTP PUT in OSB

I'm trying to use an OSB dataflow to FTP PUT a file. The filename is to be derived based on the file's contents, according to a naming convention required by the client. I have a proxy service with a Routing action that has a Transport Header on its Request Action flow; on the Outbound Request, I specify a JCA header of jca.ftp.FileName and provide a variable where the derived filename has been stored, and Pass All Headers is checked. The resulting $outbound variable contains exactly what I expected:

... But then the FTP PUT ignores the filename and writes one of those long generated alphanumeric ones instead.
I can't find anything definite in any documentation, but it seems like jca.ftp.FileName might only be used for FTP GET, not FTP PUT ( ? ).
There has to be a straightforward way to specify the name you want on an FTP PUT. I'm new at OSB. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing? :-)

Colleague suggested not using JCA:jca.ftp.FileName as the transport header, but ftp:fileName instead. Works.

I have been trying to create an ftp business service to transfer files to a remote machine. I select that the service should support any XML document (since I am only sending XML). Then, I specify the remote server directory like so:
ftp://hostname:port/directory
I take the rest of the default settings. However, when I use the business ftp service by testing it in the console, it just hangs. I can successfully ftp to the server and send files from the OSB server command line to the remote server in question. So, it isn't a problem with our network or a misconfiguration of ftp. Has anyone successfully used the ftp business service in OSB? If so, how do I configure it properly? Thanks much

Have you checked server logs? Enable message tracing in operational settings and check the logs to find out where it is getting stuck.

OSB error while generating business service for FTP adapter Sync Get File

Hi All
I am trying to generate a business service from SOA Suite JCA FTP adapter Sync Get File, but i am getting this exception for no reasons (Rest operations list file, get file and put file are working)
Invalid JCA transport endpoint configuration, exception: java.lang.NullPointerException     Unknown ALSB Conflict.
Is this a bug in eclipse, can any body help me. Thanks

bcoz of this issue, i had to code the entire interface in OSB console. It runs fine in OSB console (i was able to test it successfully).

FTP Adapter in OSB

Hi Guys,
I have used an FTP adapter in OSB and it is working fine. What I want to do is to override the Delete File setting for the adapter.
I don't want to delete(or archive) the file/s (scenario e.g. is that I have to send the same file over and over again).

Hi,
You can overide the Delete File setting by using a logical name instead of a physical path to the folder.
When you use logical names for the file read and archive locations, two properties are added to the service/reference binding with the name you have given them in the wizard.
The value between the tags can be overwritten. Initials they''re blank/empty.

These properties can be changed on deployment time with a configuration plan or on runtime via the EM in the settings page of the service binding.

Unable to poll for files in FTP server using Proxy Service (in OSB Project)

Here are the stepd followed for creating proxy service that should poll ftp server to retrieve files but polling is not happening and unable to see any errors in logs.
1. Created service account by selecting resource type as static and providing the ftp user and password details.
2. Created a New Proxy Service in eclipse
     Tab General - service type as Messaging Service
     Tab Messaging - Request Message Type as Text, Response message type as None
     Tab Transport - Protocol selected as "ftp"
          - Endpoint uri entered in the format - ftp://hostname:port/directory
FTP Transport -Selected "external user" as User Authentication
          - Selected the Service Account thats created in step1/
               - File mMask - *.*
               - Polling Interval 60
               - Read Limit 10
               - Post Read Action - Delete
               - Transfer mode - binary
               - Download Directory - "some local directoy"
               - Error Directory - "some local error directory"
Could any one please help here to trouble shoot the polling issue and correct me if this is wrong approach.

Did you configure the FTP adapter which is present in Weblogic server?I think he's using FTP transport in OSB and not the JCA adapter, if that's the case FtpAdapter configuration wouldn't help...
unable to see any errors in logsThat's odd, try to mess up the hostname and see if you get a connection refused on the logs...
It may be a permissions issue, the user you're connecting may not even "see" the files you place there... Try using the same user to create and to poll files...

I tried with DBadapter select it does not work ... For blob objects cant use select throws error as expected number got blob
can call a stored procedure to write the file to some directory but that file will not be created with the same name of the file as stored in DB .. need to hard code the filename in utl file or if we pass a variable to get the name of the attachment file we have to use select query in cursor which throws error like above in step 2
Can some body tell me how to get the blob attachment with the same name as it is stored in DB table

Also, i dont want ot append the conent from payload to the file. i wanted to sendthe file as is.

Passing file name dynamically in Synchronous read operation of FTP adapter in OSB

We are implementing the integration in OSB 11g and using FTP JCA adapters to check if the file exists in the FTP location or not. We are using Synchronous read operation of FTP adapters. We need to pass the file name dynamically at run time. In the JCA file we can hard code the file name. How that file name can be taken dynamically using OSB.

This is possible.
For creating filenames dynamically for your sender, you will have to crate a variable name ( eg: %VAR%) as you file name and then you will have to give the name of your file under variable substitution. Just check this link for more info,

In the case of receiver file adapaters, you have 5 options for file creation like,
1.Create
2.Append
3. Add time stamp
4.Add Counter

I have requirement to read a file from one file system and write it on another file system.I have implemented this using jca FTP adapter in OSB.
The read and write directory will be different across environments in which I need to deploy the project.
The read and write directory info is present in the jca file as given below.

Hi Prabu,
The directory name is not appearing in the configuration of the services.
I have specific reason for going with jca Adapter. Why writing the files to the destination if some failure happens ftp protocol may cause partially written files but I think JCA adapter will make sure either the file is completely transferred or not transferred at all.
If this cannot be done in OSB I think I need to go for BPEL implementation where the config plan supports the replacement of JCA properties.

How to write non-XML data to a file using an OSB FTP Routing?

Hi --
Situation ... I need to write non-XML data to a file using FTP. A proxy service retrieves XML and transforms it with XSLT to CSV format, then gives it to a Biz service to file it out, using FTP. Simple.
Problem ... OSB sends the contents of $body to any service it calls. Because $body is a SOAP document, it has to contain XML. So therefore I have to put my CSV data into an XML element, in order to put it into $body; and this inner element then gets written to the file, which I don’t want. But if I don't enclose my CSV content in a tag, I get "Unexpected CDATA encountered" trying to assign it to a variable.
There has to be away around this!

Solved. Steps:
-- Transform the XML to CSV using an XSL transform. Put the CSV data inside enclosing XML elements, and use a Replace action to put the XML element + CSV contents back into *$body*.
-- Define an MFL transform that only knows about the enclosing XML elements. Use a delimiter of "\n" (hard return).
-- Route from the proxy service to a Biz service that has Service Type = Messaging Service and Request Message Type = MFL; specify the MFL transform, which will receive the incoming *$body* variable, strip off the enclosing XML element within it, and pass the CSV contents to the FTP service.
