Function module to get user AND usergroup

Hi Folks,
I need a function module which returns the user and the usergroup.
BAPI_USER_GETLIST won't work as it doesn't return the usergroup.
There are some other function modules but none of them can be called remotely.
I can't write a function module myself as we are working with validated systems.
The whole approval process would take months...
Does anybody know a function module which returns the user AND the usergroup AND can be called remotely?
Hope somebody can help me.

are you talking about usr02-CLASS values if yes
BAPI_USER_GET_DETAIL returns this in
export parameter LOGONDATA-class

I need a function module to get the attribute and its corresponding values set on the sales org stucture.The export parameter will be the Sales Org Id.

If it helps, we use FM RHGA_READ_ATTRIBUTES for that in version 4.

Function module for getting month and year of the previous month (say -6)

Hi,
Is there a function module that will get you the month and year of say, a month before, and as far as 11 months ago.
For example, say today is 6/2007. I want 7 months ago.
How do i get this value?
What function module or method is available?

lv_period gives the month and year which is two months earlier now as we have specified lv_months as -2.

I am asked to develop a custom report for inventory management. For range of materials it is required to display stock and value on particular date and GRs GIs for the range.

Function Module to get Date and Time out of Timestamp

Source system timestamp field CREATED_TS of Type DEC-15
BW PSA data in format 20.140.707.105.948
In DSO, I have created two target InfoObjects; one for Date and one for Time.
In transformation from PSA to DSO, in field level routine, I want to split timestamp into Date and Time.
There is a function module CACS_TIMESTAMP_GET_DATE in source system but it is not available in BW. Another function module ADDR_CONVERT_TIMESTAMP_TO_DATE which is available in BW but returns only Date.
Does anyone know a function module in BW which takes Timestamp (PSA data in format 20.140.707.105.948) and returns Date and Time.
Much better would be a FM which take timestamp and also Timezone and returns Date and Time.

Timestamp to date time conversion (with time zone) is built into ABAP. Why use a function module?
Read the ABAP help on CONVERT.

You are talking about on the OM side and obtain the perner via object P?
You can through a few method. One is using evaluation path. There is a function module called HR_STRUC_GET which allow you to pass evaluation path to get the result.
Using that, you could create a simple evaluation path from position (object s) to person (object p). The object ID of object P is your pernr.
Unless you have central person functionality, that might no longer be the case.

the explanation already given is correct and good. Small add-on:
All functions called during one LUW with addition IN UPDATE TASK are stored together with their actual parameters in a temporary memory area. The moment a COMMIT WORK is issued, the functions are released to be executed by a so-called update task which is running in the background. This explains why functions called in update task never return anything, no SY-SUBRC and no export or table parameters If a function called in update task raises an exception or runs into an error the calling user will get an express message informing about this. Also, all database updates done by this update process are rolled back to keep consistency.
This proceeding helps to keep database tables consistent and allows the user to keep on doing his work before all database updates are complete. You may have seen messages like "material will be changed" after saving. If you open the same material immediately, you'll get a message "object locked by...<yourself>". This means the update task is still running.
