Gallery Layout

I have been trying to create a Gallery that would look something like the bing news app, where the first page / section would be a full screen image, then the next page would be a grid of articles. So essentially different elements would be on different
gallery sections. All the elements would need to be read dynamically from a REST data source. I was hoping to create a swipe and slide navigation as opposed to a button press.
I have tried different combinations of if statements and filters but I am beginning to think it is not possible in this release. Does anyone have any ideas.
If not do we know if this kind of functionality is scheduled for the next release.
Thanks
Ronan

It supports Refresh function that allows you to dynamically refresh a data source.

  • Lightbox Gallery Layout Problems

    I'm still struggling with layout methods. Recently moving from tables, and trying now to move from over-using absolute positioning, I'm now having major issues with float and clear methods.
    I have a site with a lightbox gallery, which works great in a previous site. http://home.comcast.net/~steven.kay/event/uplighting.html
    Another client wants a similar gallery, but when I copy it from the other site and paste it into the content div, I get a real mess. It seems to be inheriting some extra padding or margins or something.  http://home.comcast.net/~steven.kay/showtime/event_lighting.html
    I realize my layout isn't done properly (I'm working on it), but if anyone can at least help me get this gallery working, I'd be very grateful.
    Steve

    I think that the padding in this rule:
    #main_content li
    Is screwing your gallery.
    It's because that will apply to all <li> elements withing your #main_content div and your gallery of course, is constructed with using an unordered list.  One way around it is to give the other lists an id and target them directly in your CSS.

  • Constructing CSS photo gallery layout

    Hi,
    I'm on DW CS4 with an intel Mac. I am one (1) table away from having my site be purely CSS without tables.
    I have painstakingly placed each thumbnail manually and resized all the heights etc.  My Gallery actually looks good in IE 6, much to my surprise.
    But in Safari and Firefox, it looks like it's out of the container (Content div) - but I've got this gallery class Div in the editable area of my template in the Content Div, so I don't know what I've done wrong.
    http://www.frankbright.com/index1.htm
    It would be really great if I could get this past me. I hope I've given enough information. Many Thanks for any assistance,
    Frank B.

    Firstly I would make all your thumbnails the same dimensions 135px x 108px. This will allow you to wrap all the images in one ul tag and center them on the page. If you use multiple ul tags then you will have to assign each one a different class and give each one a specific width to get it to center the images.
    Example of css where the images are all wrapped in one ul tag.
    <style type="text/css">
    <!--
    #mainContent, #navcontainer {
    overflow: hidden;
    .gallery {
    list-style: none;
    width: 725px;
    margin: 0 auto;
    padding: 0 0 0 10px;
    .gallery li {
    float: left;
    width: 140px;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    .gallery li a {
    float: left;
    display: block;
    margin: 10px 10px 0 0;
    -->
    </style>
    html showing images wrapped in one ul tag, add the others to the sequence.
    <div id="mainContent">
    <ul class="gallery">
    <li><a href="pages/photoname.htm"><img src="thumbnail.jpg" alt="image description" width="135" height="108" border="0" /></a></li>
    <li><a href="pages/photoname2.htm"><img  src="thumbnail2.jpg" alt="image description" width="135" height="108"  border="0" /></a></li>
    <li><a href="pages/photoname3.htm"><img  src="thumbnail3.jpg" alt="image description" width="135" height="108"  border="0" /></a></li>
    <li><a href="pages/photoname4.htm"><img src="thumbnail4.jpg" alt="image description" width="135" height="108" border="0" /></a></li>
    <li><a href="pages/photoname5.htm"><img  src="thumbnail5.jpg" alt="image description" width="135" height="108"  border="0" /></a></li>
    <li><a href="pages/photoname6.htm"><img  src="thumbnail6.jpg" alt="image description" width="135" height="108"  border="0" /></a></li>
    </ul>

  • HTML and CSS Gallery Layout

    I have an idea for a gallery that I want to produce. There are three small images at the top of the page. Each of these represent one gallery of images.
    Below is a large area that will display the selected gallery.
    So if you click on the small Gallery one thumb, the whole of Gallery One starts displaying in the large space below the thumbnails. If you click on Gallery Two thumb, Gallery One is replaced by Gallery Two and that starts displaying its images.
    Is this possible? If so how would I go about setting this up?
    Any help or tips would be much appreciated.

    Yes it's possible but as Ken says it would take your page forever to load all those images.
    Look at jAlbum.  It creates the HTML pages and JavaScript code for you from your collections of images.

  • How can I create a link to an external site in my aperture web gallery?

    Very keen to add a link to my main home page so people can go from my web gallery at www.smartstreets.eu back to my home page at www.smartstreets.co.uk
    Anyone know a way to do this?
    Also wondered if I can change the font, size, format (eg bold etc) in the theme I have chosen .. this seems to be set and cannot be changed.
    Any ideas? Any places I can try for great third party web gallery themes? Thank you!

    I don't know how to accomplish this when using Aperture's built-in web gallery feature. My suggestion may help until you find out how to do that. I suggest buying iLife '08 and using iWeb to create your web galleries. The iWeb media browser shows your Aperture library and albums so there's no need to export-import. You do need to generate previews for photos to use in iPhoto. iWeb is much more powerful than Aperture's gallery layout tools, plus there are many themes available. Think of iWeb as an export plugin for Aperture.

  • Bridge gallery and iWeb questions, newbie....

    Hi All....
    I have made myselve a page in iWeb but I´m not happy with the gallery-layout with thumpnails and small sized pictures, I would like my galleries to be scroll down type, OR just one picture at the time and nothing else, except "Next/previous" and a "Menu" sign, either in a good (>>>big pictures) size....
    I have this morning realized that I can do that in Bridge, so I have made myselve a testgallery and uploaded to my site via Bridge, and I can see in Filezilla that it is there, but I can´t see it on my page, off course because there´s no link between the two of them, the question is, how do I make my page show the gallery....???
    I haven´t been able to locate the testgallery on the web, as mentioned I can see in Filezilla that it is there somewhere, but how to find it out there I don´t know....
    My homepage is called www.easerfoto.dk and the gallery I have oploaded is called Bridgegallerytest, if it has any relevance....
    If anyone have a page that is made in Bridge and care to share how´s, then please step forward, I´m on zero here, any tip is appreciated....;-)
    Maybe I should mention that I am an complete NOOB on all this (managed to have Filezilla working first time last week), but want to learn....

    When you created your gallery did you publish the file to a folder?  And was one of the files in that folder named index.htm or html?  Make sure the gallery works correctly by opening the index.html file with your browser from the gallery copy on your hard drive.
    Then upload to the root directory of your account on the server.  The url would be something like this:  http://www.easerfoto.dk/Folder_name/index.html.
    Put that URL in the iFrame code below in an HTML snippet. The iFrame code in the snippet would look like this:
    <iframe height="XXXpx" allowTransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" style="width:XXXpx;border:none" src=" http://www.easerfoto.dk/Folder_name/index.html"></iframe>
    Adjust the height and width dimensions to fit the size of the gallery you want on the page.
    Also for what it's worth there are other gallery types of presentations, some from iPhoto with a free plugin, that might be of interest to you:

  • Web Gallery and Client Feedback

    Hello,
      I'm using the Web Gallery in Bridge to quickly upload images to my clients and have them choose which ones they want.  The problem I'm having is that they view the image, then have to write the numbers/names down for each, then either write it down again in an email or call me.  It would be much easier to have a solution where the client highlights each image they want,(or write comments/questions) and then presses a button (in the gallery) that would either send me an email or something telling me what they want, thus automating the process.
    Is there a way to do this, or has it already been done?  I'm searching with no luck so far.  Thanks!

    Victoria,
    I would argue that a relatively high percentage of professional photographers would like to have this feature to be able to get feedback from clients. I don't agree that it would be generally considered bloat. Among commercial photographers, photo-journalists, and probably wedding photographers I would argue that the ability to create a web gallery that facilitates feedback from a client, or an editor's desk, has a greater level of value than does having 20 different gallery layouts with various transitions between slides, and cozy color palettes. I do see the value of that variety, but I'd like to see a little more utility also.
    Even Photoshop, up to version CS3, had the ability to make a gallery with feedback option. Each image in the gallery had a text box that essentially acted like a Submit button. All comments a viewer made were compiled in an email and the comments were tagged with the image number/name. The gallery was cramped and ugly, but the feature was very useful.
    While the TTG Client Response Gallery plug-in looks like it fits the bill, it also requires more of a learning curve than I would like. It also requires making sure my ISP has the correct version of PHP and the correct type of Apache server – certainly more than a basic HTML solution.

  • Help sry light box gallery doesn't insert in dreamweaver cs5.5?

    I just upgraded to dreamweaver cs5.5  and the spry lightbox gallery widget doesn't load properly ? I drag and drop in design view. All my other adobe programmes are still cs3 flash photoshop etc is this why or what am I doing wrong as all i get on the page is a set of images vertically from the gallery template and no gallery layout? Can anyone help?

    Not sure that Spry has a lightbox gallery. I assume that you mean the jQuery LightBox Gallery Widget.
    If the assumption is correct, then make sure that you have the following files in the correct folder/directory.
    <script type='text/javascript' src='scripts/jquery.js'></script>
    <script type='text/javascript' src='scripts/lightbox.js'></script>
    <link type='text/css' href='css/lightbox.css' rel='stylesheet'/>
    <link type='text/css' href='css/sample_lightbox_layout.css' rel='stylesheet'/>
    It is wise to supply a link to your site so that we do not have to make assumptions

  • Html web Gallery: Cell Number Size

    I need to determine how to alter the size of the Cell Numbers in the :standard" Lightroom Web Gallery layout.
    The numbering is  too large to be clearly seen in the upper left hand corner of the cell i;e the thumbnails cover a portion of the numerals.
    I'm fairly certain that my client is not going to appreciate this "feature".
    How does one change the font size...either in the Lightroom Web Gallery Mode or using HTML...in Dreamweaver or otherwise?
    I' will appreciate any help on this.
    Thank you

    I don't know of a way to influence the size of the cell numbers from within LR.
    From outside LR, you have two options:
    1) If you want to change the number for a specific web gallery you exported:
    Open file [your_webgallery]\resources\css\master.css with a text editor
    Find the section ".itemNumber" and change the value of "font-size:" from 40px to something smaller
    2) If you want to make the change valid for new HTML web galleries you create:
    Open file "\Shared\webengines\default_html.lrwebengine\resources\css\master.css" under your LR installation directory (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3.2 for WinXP)
    Do the same edit as above
    Note that option 2 has to be repeated after every installation of (new versions) of LR.

  • LR web gallery w/ client feedback function?

    Probably been asked before, but I can't find it in the search feature, so sorry in advance if this bugs you.
    I'm a 20 year user of Photoshop but new to LR. I shot a project for which I am using LR to do my selects and basic adjustments. I need to put my adjusted images in front of my clients with a web gallery that would allow them to make their selects, tag the files with ranking, and leave text comments if they wish. There are about 2000 images in this project.
    Photoshop used to have a (barely usable) automated web gallery that allowed for client feedback in text. Is there something like this in LR? Is there a light box function in a web gallery?
    Is it built in, our do I have to spend more money to get something that should have been in the product in the first place? (sorry for the mini-rant)

  • Can't change location of mobile me gallery albums

    I like to have my albums in ascending order, but now every time I create a new gallery album, it goes to the top and will not let me move it to the bottom like before. Any idea how to fix this?

    You can log into http://www.me.com and click the flower icon at the top to see your gallery layout then re-order them there.

  • Access to gallery item dimensions?

    I know we can't use something like {{item.dimensions}} in a custom gallery layout, but does anybody know of a way to access image dimensions without having to resize them algorithmically?

    I need the dimensions for use with  data-size="" and data-med-size="" as per the use case below. The application works acceptably with the small and large versions of the images pre-defined programmatically, but it'd be far better to use the normal image sizes, especially because this current setup doesn't exactly sit well with portraits!
    <div class="collection-gallery" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/ImageGallery">
        {% for item in items %}
        <a class="gallery-item" href="{{item.link}}?Action=thumbnail&amp;Width=1200&amp;Height=772&algorithm=fill_proport ional"
          data-size="1200x772"
          data-med="{{item.link}}?Action=thumbnail&amp;Width=1024&amp;Height=641&algorithm=fill_pro portional"
          data-med-size="1024x641"
          data-author="" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/ImageObject">
              <img src="{{item.thumbnailLink}}" alt="" itemprop="thumbnail" />
              <figure itemprop="caption description">{{item.description}}</figure>
          </a>
        {% endfor %}

  • Books - no full-screen view of page?

    I would find it useful to be able to see a page of an Aperture Book I'm working on in full-screen mode. I don't find a way to do it. Full-screen mode works on an image from the Browser strip below the book-edit Viewer, or an image from the page, but not on the page itself. I just want to see a single page at 100% (or slightly more) with a black background, so as to check composition and detail in the same view.
    Before I put this in as a feature request, though, I thought I should ask if I'm just missing it somewhere.

    Perhaps full-screen mode would give you more of
    what
    you want?
    Well, yes, that's what I'm asking for.
    Sorry Charles - I mis-interpreted what you said as a request for having the book or light-table open full-screen on the second monitor.
    If an image on the page is selected in the
    book-editor viewer, pressing F brings the image into
    full-screen mode. If you deselect the image (select
    the whole page, or nothing, in the viewer), pressing
    F yields a full-screen mode which is completely black.
    I saw there was a Bagelturf article on laying out books and full-screen mode, but it was only to adjust one image.
    But yes, the ability to have a full-screen book or light table or web-gallery layout (on either monitor) would be very good).
    I was excited myself as I thought full-screen mode would work, and was going to rush home to try it, but alas it's not to be.

  • Batch/Actions Like Option In Dreamweaver?

    I have a very standard photo gallery layout. The user clicks on a thumbnail and it send them to a page that has a large version of the image that is the format of my webpage with a header, footer and Discus box.
    I use a template that I made for each of the large images so each one is a separate page. Normally I just go in click on the editable section I have set up for each picture and load the file for the image that I want go rename the file to be the next number up and save it then repeat.
    It was tedious but was fine when I didn’t have as much content coming in as I do now.
    Now I sometimes have upwards of a 100+ photos to do at a time and it takes forever.
    Is there anyway that Dreamweaver CS6 (Windows) can do a “batch process like” action such as in Photoshop such that I tell it the folder that has all my images and it runs through the folder creating a separate file for each page it creates in ascending order?
    If not what are my options? I could just make a basic photo album page using Dreamweaver but then I loose all my style for the pages and the Discus option. I also use stylized thumbnails so the lightbox option isn’t all that appealing to me either.

    DW doesn't have anything like this with the clickity-click functionality that Photoshop's batch image processor has. You could probably write something in PHP that would go off of batch created thumbnails and "large" images though. Nancy O has a nice little php script that works with Fancy Box and pulls in images from folders into a gallery...
    http://alt-web.com/GALLERY/GalleryTest.php
    But that's not quite the same as what you're doing.
