GB just bounces & doesn't open
Okay all... I know this has been mentioned before, but I have GB 3 and it does not open. I've deleted any .cs and .plist files associated w/GB, fixed the permissions and tried logging in as another user to no avail. Has anybody found a solution to this issue? I click on it and it and the icon just bounces for a few seconds and stops - and that's it... nothing else.

Ick! Those three steps are definitely the right ones (Good no you for doing your homework!), but the third implies that it is a "System Wide" problem (for lack of a better term)
At this point the next thing I would have to try is reinstalling GB from the original DVDs.
Had GarageBand ever worked for you?

Gosh, I don't know where to begin...
When I first downloaded the feedback version of FF about a month before it launched, lots of little details were malfunctioning. Minor, but annoying things like, my login bars were all prefilled with "enter name"...etc"here". I would have to double click it and erase it. FF stopped remembering my passwords....
I went back a version or two and things were just all screwed up. Downloaded FF4.0.1 today. When I click the icon to open FF, it just bounces endlessly and I have to Force quit.
So I erased everything. All FF files/dwnloads, moved it to trash, emptied... then downloaded again. Click the icon to open FF, it's just bouncing and I have to force quit.
PS: I am being forced to use chrome and I really miss FF.You should still have the older version of Firefox (the beta installs alongside the older version). Check under add/remove programs. If you do, just locate the .exe in program files under Mozilla, and create a shortcut.

Motion doesn't open - just bounces?
Hello - haven't used Motion in a few months, but whenever I click on the icon (dock) it just bounces, then stop - not even a startup screen. Any thoughts on what I can do? I trashed "apple.com.motion.plist", safe booted, but still does not open.

How do i get my mac book back to normal, i attempted a safe boot because my safari wasnt opening, when i choose it on the dock, it just bounces for a while then i get a error message. now when i turn it on it only goes halfway thru the load bar then shutdown?????
Hello, what OSX version?
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS. -
Safari icon bounces but doesn't open
Almost exactly a year ago, the Safari icon on my doc stopped opening. It bounces once or twice but I can't access Safari at all. The same has happened to the Mac Mail icon and a few others that were on the dock. I recall seeing something that looked like a little expoding cloud and hearing a "bang" and the app either disappeared from the dock completely or it just bounces but won't open. It happens so quickly that sometimes I don't know what I've lost. (Nothing appears in the trash, btw.)I checked the logs and here are just the first several lines of what is a very lengthy list of things in the log.
I hope someone might be able to decipher what went wrong and how to fix it.

When i double click itunes it doesn't open it just comes up with an error saying " The itunes library.itl file cannot be found or created. The default location for this file is in the 'itunes' folder in the 'music' folder. How can i fix this problem?
Anyone can help to advice how to solve this issue ?

I connected an external monitor to my MacBook Pro, but it doesn't open any programs. It Just sits there with a blank screen. How do I get it to open programs and act like a monitor?
Dear Jean:
It sounds like you are trying to get your external monitor to act as the primary viewing screen. For example it would have your Doc, Icons, Etc. In order to make the external monitor the primary screen you have to:
Open System Preferences.
Choose the Displays Icon
There will be several tabs to choose from pick Arrangement
Drag the toolbar to desired display

Just updates itunes and now it doesn't open at all, not even an error message
I just updated itunes and now it doesn't open, no error message comes up, it's like i never even clicked it, well for a second the 'in progress' circle spins
tried restarting the computer, that wasn't any help
cleaned up registry with ccleaner
even opened up programs and features and right clicked it instead of uninstalling it i clicked repair, no help either
please anyone have a solution?try with this one

Reboot it
Now download a fresh itunes from apple and try installing

When I try to click on a link to a document within a website, that document doesn't open like it should. For instance, if I go to the census website and click on a link to open an excel spreadsheet, Firefox doesn't do it. Save file - Firefox will save this file to your computer
Use - Firefox will give this file to the program to open it

I recently upgraded to 10.5.1 on my Powerbook G4, and since then, I have not been able to use iCal. It was working when I was at 10.5, but now when i try to open it from the dock or the finder, it bounces 15 times, then stops bouncing. I checked out console and it said:
11/22/07 9:44:22 AM com.apple.launchd[125] ([0x0-0x2c02c].com.apple.iCal[223]) Exited abnormally: Illegal instruction
I can post the whole thing from crash reporter if need be.
I tried moving the calendars from the library, all the plist files, i checked for that font, and it was missing from the list, but my font book said it was enabled.
I know there are a few articles about this, but I haven't read any about it not opening at all. It never becomes selectable...Just bounces in the dock.

i got macbook pro 13" i bought in 2011 but its now getting slow when i start up or when shutting down .and apps takes time to open like just bouncing????????

Please help - AppleWorks won't open. The icon just bounces in the Dock.
I have been writing and saving all day on Appleworks. Now when I want to open up an Appleworks file, it won't open up. I tried clicking it from an icon on my desktop, clicking a file from my Recent Items list, and getting one from my hard drive. Nothing opens up. I tried turning off my computer and restarting it and it still will not open any Appleworks file. The Appleworks icon at the bottom bar of my computer just bounces up and down, but nothing opens up. I am able to open my iWorks Pages files without any problem. The bad thing is that I need to get my saved Appleworks files and edit them. Please help... Thanks in advance, Teachermom99

Whenever I try to open an app on my Mac it just bounces on my dock and then settles. At first it bounced the disappeared, and then I had to reinstall it, but now it just bounces. Any help?
Try one or more of the following:
> Restart Your Computer
> Uninstall and Reinstall iTunes
> Reset iPod (nothing will get deleted)
> Look in My Computer (Windows 98, XP) OR Computer (Windows Vista or 7) and see if your iPod is in there.
In some cases (and this happened to me before) plug your iPod in and out your computer a few times. It should get it going. If not, then I strongly recommend starting your computer.
