GC on WLS6.1sp2 and WLS7sp2

Hi All,
Does any find that there is GC problem on WLS6.1sp2? I had an application(web
module) which deployed on both WLS6.1sp2 and WLS7sp2. Both server with same configuration
and initializing min and max heap size to 64m. The occupied memory in heap is
about 20Mb after full GC in both server before the test. When I perform a stress
test on them, I found that garbage collection behavior is different.
In WLS6.1sp2, after running my load test for a period of time, the occupied memory
is about 50Mb after full gabage collection. If I go on stress on the server, OutOfMemoryError
generated. Server has to be restarted. It seems that even full gc, it can't release
all unused objects.
In WLS7sp2, after running my load test for a period of time, the occupied memory
is still 23-25Mb after full gabare collection. There is no problem if I go on
to stress the server.
It seems that the performance of WLS6.1sp2 is not acceptable. It can't release
unused objects. Does any have the same experience on WLS6.1? How can I solve this
problem in WLS6.1? Otherwise, I have to migrate all my program to WLS7. Thx a
lot.
Karen

Karen,
You should try testing weblogic 6.1 with SP4. There are some fixes
related to memory leaks in Wl 6.1 SP3 and SP4.

              Sam,
              I was wondering if you were able to use the IMN Connector RAR file. I was able
              to deploy but that was teh extent of my effort.
              Appreciate you insight!

    Hi,
    I think the service pack is actually contained in the weblogic.jar file,
    so there's no need for a weblogic_sp.jar. The reference to
    weblogic_sp.jar in the start script is probably there for old time's
    sake :-)

  • (261680070) Q WWO-13 What are the difference between WLS6.1 and WLS7.0 web services?

    Q<WWO-13> What are the difference between WLS6.1 and WLS7.0 web services?
    A<WWO-13> The differences are huge, so different in fact that 6.1 web services cannot
    be deployed in 7.0. WLS7.0 and Workshop have much greater functionality than the
    limited stateless session (RPC-style) and JMS destination (MSG-style) approach of
    6.1. Workshop web services can interact with any type of EJB, any JMS destination
    as well as other web services and directly accessing databases. The framework for
    building the web service is better and more adaptable and Workshop provides a fully
    integrated develop, deploy, test and debug environment. Additionally, WLS7.0 have
    the capacity to be much better at performance since due to XML parser enhancements
    and the addition of XML maps.

    If you want to take existing WLS6.1 web services and convert them to WLS7.0 you can
    do so quite easily. The WLS7.0 Ant still supports wsgen so you do not need to even
    change your build.xml file. The generated web service however will be implemented
    is a manner compliant with the WLS7.0 environment. More details are at:

    No, that's not possible.
              All servers in a cluster must be using the same version of WLS as well as on

  • J2EE connector API in WLS6.1 and listening to CMP/CMR

              Hi,
              I am interested in knowing any of your experience using J2EE CONNECTOR architecture
              in WLS6.1, especially;
              [1] Using it to obtain transaction events on CMP /CMR on business objects (s.a
              EJBS) that employ webLogic CMP engine,
              [2] Whether the J2EE connector APIs in WebLogic allow third party plugins (like
              TopLink) to subscribe, s.t. other plugins (like the adapter which I may develon),
              would be able to "listen" to the transaction events from the third party adapters,
              [3] Any examples in WLS6.1 on using and configuring J2EE connector APIs,
              [4] Other possibilities exist in WLS for obtaining CMP events notifying modifications
              to application object state
              Thanks in advance,

    Hi. It is possible to package native code along with a RAR. Further, in J2EE 1.4, it is possible to write MDBs that implement arbitrary message listener types, return values, throw exceptions, etc.

    Hi,
    The only implication in using both SOAP 1.1 and SOAP 1.2 in your service is that you are making the generated WSDLs a little more complex to read, as they will have two bindings, one for each version.
    When you generate the proxy code for your service, you will have two clients generated, and it may be a little confusing for newcomers.
    Hope it helps,

    Here is the answer I received from a BEA Developer Relations Engineer

    "When you deploy the EAR file, it is deployed under one classloader. When
    you deploy the EAR file in the exploded format, then each EJB jar file is
    loaded in a separate classloader. As long as the dependent (helper) classes
    are in the classpath, you can always redeploy the EJB jar file, but if you
    want to make changes to the dependent class then you have to restart the

  • XA error XAER_RMERR with wls6.1 and weblogic XA driver

    This error develops quickly in our designed simple test with these settings:
    1) wlserver6.1 on Ultra 10 with Solaris 8;
    2) XA datasource on another Ultra 10 with Oracle 8i;
    3) Weblogic XA Oracle Driver;
    4) Simulated 50 clients from Windows 2000 IE using Microsoft Web Stress test
    suite;
    5) BMT session bean;
    6) Data base contains a simple table with two colomns, name and password.
    7) The test business logic is to get and return the password string, could
    not be simpler.
    The Processing logic(high level) is as follows:
    A) get UserTransaction, and begin transaction;
    B) loop(30 times):
    1) get connection
    2) create statement
    3) execute statement
    4) close result set
    5) close statement
    6) close connection
    C) commit/rollback the tx accordingly.
    Note that:
    1) the 50 simulated clients will generate repeated hits to stress the
    server.
    2) We changed to use "thin" driver, giving up the XA capability, and the
    tests run OK. However, XA is what we absolutely require of. So please help
    identify this problem. It needed, the complete sample code can be made
    available.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    What connection pool settings do you have? I assume you have enoughconnections
    for this test?

  • IPlanet 6.1sp2 and SOAP

    Hi,
    I am getting the following error when running on iPlanet 6.1sp2...this was working fine under iPlanet 6.0sp5.....
    HTTP transport error: javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Unable to internalize message
    Just wondering what went wrong.....are there any specific jar files / versions that need to be used with iPlanet 6.1sp2...
    Amit

    Is there an anticipated release date for 6.1? (I wasn't able to find anything on the product's web page.)

    Turn off the native IO first ... see if that makes a dif.
    Then turn off hotspot (or JIT) and see if that makes a dif.
    Then call HP (if it's the JIT) or BEA (if it's the native IO).
