  • Error when generating create table script

    Hi,

this is my bad, i should have updated this thread when we originally troubleshot this issue...
that error you're getting on htmldb.oracle.com when you try to generate ddl for tables and such is a manifestation of a database bug (#3372908) that's recently been filed. checking the worklog for that bug suggests that those guys are still working out the issue. unfortunately, there's no current work-around on htmldb.oracle.com at the moment. if you want to generate ddl for your objects, you'd have to query the appropriate data dictionary views to get the info you need.
...i'll update the htmldb.oracle.com interface in a bit to prevent other users from hitting this issue. so you know, this is only an issue on db versions 9.2.0.3 and 9.2.0.4 running on some platforms and only (as far as i know) those using the AL32UTF8 characterset ...which does include our hosted site for now.
    hope this helps,
    raj

  • Generate create table script?

If I have a table called "customer" in my oracle database and I want to create the same table on another server. There are any way to generate Create table script to create this table?
    Thank you for your help.
    Regards,
    Kevin

The documentation for the GET_DDL method in the DBMS_METADATA package is here
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96612/d_metad2.htm#1024701
    Basically, you'll want something like
    DECLARE
      l_clob CLOB;
    BEGIN
      l_clob := dbms_metadata.get_ddl( 'TABLE', '<<table name>>');
      <<Do something with the DDL>>
    END;Justin

  • Issue with Generate Create Script in new ODT 11.1.0.5.10 beta

So I'm trying to determine if there's an issue with the Generate Create Script option in the new ODT 11.1.0.5.10 beta (when you right click on a table in Server Explorer).
The SQL create script that it generates lacks the slash between lines. For example I generated the create script for my User table and this is what was generated:
    CREATE TABLE "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ("RID" NUMBER(10,0),"USER_NAME" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"APPLICATION_RID" NUMBER(10,0),"FIRST_NAME" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"LAST_NAME" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"PW" VARCHAR2(128 CHAR),"PW_FORMAT" NUMBER,"PW_SALT" VARCHAR2(128 CHAR),"LAST_ACTIVITY_DT" DATE,"EXPIRATION_DT" DATE,"EMAIL" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"PW_QUESTION" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"PW_ANSWER" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"APPROVED_FLG" NUMBER(1,0),"LOCKED_OUT_FLG" NUMBER(1,0),"LAST_LOGIN_DT" DATE,"LAST_PW_CHANGED_DT" DATE,"LAST_LOCKOUT_DT" DATE,"FAILED_PW_ATTEMPT_CNT" NUMBER(6,0),"FAILED_PW_ATTEMPT_WINSTART" DATE,"FAILED_PW_ANSW_ATTEMPT_CNT" NUMBER(8,0),"FAILED_PW_ANSW_ATTEMPT_WINSTRT" DATE,"CREATED_BY_RID" NUMBER(10,0),"CREATED_DT" DATE,"MODIFIED_BY_RID" NUMBER(10,0),"MODIFIED_DT" DATE) TABLESPACE "USERS" PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 1 MAXTRANS 255 STORAGE ( INITIAL 131072 MAXEXTENTS 2147483645 MINEXTENTS 1 )
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "DEV"."XPKSTAFF" ON "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ("RID" ) TABLESPACE "USERS"
ALTER TABLE "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ADD ( CONSTRAINT "SYS_C0033033" PRIMARY KEY ("RID") USING INDEX "DEV"."XPKSTAFF" ENABLE VALIDATE )
ALTER TABLE "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ADD ( CONSTRAINT "SYS_C0033032" CHECK ("RID" IS NOT NULL) ENABLE VALIDATE )
    CREATE TRIGGER "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TRG1"
    BEFORE
    INSERT
    ON "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB"
    FOR EACH ROW
    begin
         select SYSTEM_USER_SEQ.nextval into :new.RID from dual;
    end;
In my new Oracle Database Project, if I right click on the script and select "Run" or "Run On", the script fails saying:
    Connected.
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "DEV"."XPKSTAFF" ON "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ("RID" ) TABLESPACE "USERS"
    ERROR at line 2:
    ORA-00922: missing or invalid option
If I then add, a slash between lines, the script runs successfully and creates the table/trigger and whatever else just fine. For example, I changed the above generated code to look as follows:
    CREATE TABLE "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ("RID" NUMBER(10,0),"USER_NAME" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"APPLICATION_RID" NUMBER(10,0),"FIRST_NAME" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"LAST_NAME" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"PW" VARCHAR2(128 CHAR),"PW_FORMAT" NUMBER,"PW_SALT" VARCHAR2(128 CHAR),"LAST_ACTIVITY_DT" DATE,"EXPIRATION_DT" DATE,"EMAIL" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"PW_QUESTION" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"PW_ANSWER" VARCHAR2(256 CHAR),"APPROVED_FLG" NUMBER(1,0),"LOCKED_OUT_FLG" NUMBER(1,0),"LAST_LOGIN_DT" DATE,"LAST_PW_CHANGED_DT" DATE,"LAST_LOCKOUT_DT" DATE,"FAILED_PW_ATTEMPT_CNT" NUMBER(6,0),"FAILED_PW_ATTEMPT_WINSTART" DATE,"FAILED_PW_ANSW_ATTEMPT_CNT" NUMBER(8,0),"FAILED_PW_ANSW_ATTEMPT_WINSTRT" DATE,"CREATED_BY_RID" NUMBER(10,0),"CREATED_DT" DATE,"MODIFIED_BY_RID" NUMBER(10,0),"MODIFIED_DT" DATE) TABLESPACE "USERS" PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 1 MAXTRANS 255 STORAGE ( INITIAL 131072 MAXEXTENTS 2147483645 MINEXTENTS 1 )
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "DEV"."XPKSTAFF" ON "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ("RID" ) TABLESPACE "USERS"
ALTER TABLE "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ADD ( CONSTRAINT "SYS_C0033033" PRIMARY KEY ("RID") USING INDEX "DEV"."XPKSTAFF" ENABLE VALIDATE )
ALTER TABLE "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB" ADD ( CONSTRAINT "SYS_C0033032" CHECK ("RID" IS NOT NULL) ENABLE VALIDATE )
    CREATE TRIGGER "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TRG1"
    BEFORE
    INSERT
    ON "DEV"."SYSTEM_USER_TB"
    FOR EACH ROW
    begin
         select SYSTEM_USER_SEQ.nextval into :new.RID from dual;
    end;
So, does anyone know if this is a bug? Could I be missing an option to add in the slashes to the generated code? Is there an option to not require the slashes? Could there be another way to execute these scripts?
Seriously, I think I'm having deja vu from the last release of the Dev Tools: Generate Create Script creates scripts that won't run: ORA-00922: missing..
...except this time the documentation says I should be able to use the "Run" and "Run On" commands in the Oracle Database Project (see page 8): http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/dotnet/pdf/ODT11_whatsnew.pdf
    null

There are 2 issues in the generated script :
    1. Missing semicolons at the end of the create stmts
    2. Missing slashes
Both of these fixes will be available in the ODT 11.1 release.

  • Generate Create Script creates scripts that won't run: ORA-00922: missing..

I'm having trouble running a script that I created by using the Generate Create Script tool in Oracle Explorer. I created the following script by running the Generate Create Script on a table called, "ASPNET_APPLICATIONS":
    CREATE TABLE "DEV"."ASPNET_APPLICATIONS" ("APPLICATIONID" NUMBER,"APPLICATIONNAME" VARCHAR2(256 BYTE),"DESCRIPTION" VARCHAR2(256 BYTE)) TABLESPACE "USERS" PCTFREE 10 INITRANS 1 MAXTRANS 255 STORAGE ( INITIAL 65536 MAXEXTENTS 2147483645 MINEXTENTS 1 )
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "DEV"."PK_APPS" ON "DEV"."ASPNET_APPLICATIONS" ("APPLICATIONID" ) TABLESPACE "USERS"
CREATE UNIQUE INDEX "DEV"."IDX_APPS_APPNAME" ON "DEV"."ASPNET_APPLICATIONS" (LOWER(TRIM("APPLICATIONNAME")) ) TABLESPACE "USERS"
ALTER TABLE "DEV"."ASPNET_APPLICATIONS" ADD ( CONSTRAINT "SYS_C004598" CHECK ("APPLICATIONNAME" IS NOT NULL) ENABLE VALIDATE )
ALTER TABLE "DEV"."ASPNET_APPLICATIONS" ADD ( CONSTRAINT "SYS_C004597" CHECK ("APPLICATIONID" IS NOT NULL) ENABLE VALIDATE )
I then deleted the table in my Oracle 10g database and ran the above script to recreate the table. The result is that I get an error the following error, ORA-00922: missing or invalid option. Does anyone know how to resolve this?
Is anyone aware of any bugs in the Generate Create Script option of Oracle Explorer?

Okay, I think I found my problem.
I was trying to run the script created by Oracle Explorer directly from a Database project I added to my Solution in Visual Studio. Visual Studio is probably using some SQL Server specific tool when I select the Run or Run On option on the script.
When running the same script directly in the Oracle 10g Home Page (Home > SQL > SQL Scripts), I had no problem. Everything executes correctly.
Is anyone aware of another way to run Oracle scripts directly from Visual Studio? Do I have my project setup incorrectly? This is the first project I've used .NET and Oracle together, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate the help.
    Thanks,
    Mycole

  • Generate Script to Project doesn't  generate CREATE OR REPLACE objects

    Hi,
I am using VS2008 SP1 with ODT. If I go to ServerExplorer to connected database and run Generate Script to Project the object (Package, package body , function ...) is always
created to the project as CREATE function myfunction.
I need to have it in this way CREATE OR REPLACE ... to run it against database.
Is there any way to configure it somehow ?
    Thanks in advance
    Jörg

Hi there is currently no way to automatically generate CREATE or REPLACE instead of just CREATE. You'll need to manually modify the file to add the "or REPLACE" to the stmt or add a DROP line just before the CREATE stmt.

  • E-rec   How to create or generate the index category????? SOS!!!!!

    Hi guys,
How to create or generate the index category?.
From the posts of this forum I have read more things but anything works:
    reports:
    -RSRETT02
    -RCF_INITIALIZE_KPRO
    -RSTIRIDX_INDXCAT_RETRIEVE
Can anyone show me the way?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
If you haveat least Version 7.10.18 then KPro configurations are no longer required. Did you activate Business Function HCM_ERC_SES_1 as this is required for SES? The scenario to choose will depened on whether you are making a new implementation, upgrading without use of SES before or upgrading after using SES with earlier versions. Scenario 1 is for when you have activated HCM_ERC_CI_3 after using earlier versions with HCM_ERC_SES_1 already activated. Scenario 2 is for those who have upgrade and activated HCM_ERC_CI_3 but where using search without SES in their earlier version. Last scenario is when you are making a new e-Recruiting implementation (not upgrading). Also check notes 1426757 and 817145.
When you try to search are you getting an error? Can you check in SLG1 transaction after trying to search and post the error messages. Also can you execute report RCF_CHECK_SEARCH_SETTINGS as it will point you to the missing configurations points if any based on your version.

  • Create INDEX batch Script

    Hello there,
When I ran the datamover script to create the PeopleSoft EPM database, I excluded CREATE INDEX (SET NO INDEX) so as to make it fast.
Can someone please tell me how to create this indices as they are many. Some form of a batch script that create all this indices.
Its Win XP, PT8.49.24, EPM 9, WebLogic 9.2, Tuxedo 9.1
    Thanks

Well, I thought it was clear.
1st question : are you familiar with Peoplesoft and AppDesigner ?
2nd question : why are you thinking you'll save time to avoid the index load during the db creation ? See, you already spend time to find a way to create them later on. Whithout saying the indexes need to be created any way, and it takes time.
Once you are done with db creation (and all the post-requisites), connect to AppDesigner with your admin user (i.e. VP1), insert into a project all the record, then build it, check indexes checkbox and a sql script will be produced. You could eventually run this script against your database with a back end tool (i.e. SQL*Plus).

I am using an XMLTYPE table

Thanks Marco and you caught me right..
    I am a microsoft user..
As you said I tried creating function based index(2 to 3) but when I run a query on that table and draw explain plan it shows full table access. I didnt understand what exactly the problem is and why it didnt use the index..
would be great if some one can help me out with this...
    I created index like this
Create INDEX Dataplace_Index1 on Dataplace e(e.existsnode('//syougou2')
the query goes like this(worst possible query)
    select extractvalue(value(x),'//syougou2'),extractvalue(value(x),'//company_code'),extractvalue(value(x),'//address') from company_details c, table(xmlsequence(extract(value(c),'/COMPANY_DETAILS/COMPANY'))) x where
    rownum < 250
    and
    (extractvalue(value(x),'//gyousyu_code') LIKE '%1%' OR extractvalue(value(x),'//gyousyu_code') LIKE '%2%' OR extractvalue( value(x),'//gyousyu_code') LIKE '%3%')
    and
    extractvalue(value(x),'//city_code') IN ('3501','3502','3503')
    and
    extractvalue(value(x),'//g_rieki5') NOT IN ('1')
    and
    extractvalue(value(x),'//jugyoin') > 1
    and
    extractvalue(value(x),'//g_uriage5') > 1
    and
    extractvalue(value(x),'//sihon') > 2
    and
    extractvalue(value(x),'//company_code') > '01-003541-9'
    order by extractvalue(value(x),'//company_code') , extractvalue(value(x),'//g_rieki5')
    and yet times a join..
My question is will functional index be helpful..
and if so is something wrong with the way I created a Fucntional Index..
why does the explain plan give Full table access
    thanks

  • Create a script that can create entire schema with data when run

    Hi,
I need to create a script that creates the entire schema on a database when the script is run. the need is that the script should be capable of creating all schema objects with grants and all, including the table data.
The same objective can be achived through export / import. But we don't want to deliver the dump files instead a script which will be executed on a database created with same database stucture of tablespaces etc.
I have serched the net but yet to achive the goal.
Is there any oracle utility / script file that can do this for me ?
Can Oracle import be used to create the same, the way it is used to create index File ?
    Please suggest !!
    Regards

You should look at the package dbms_metadata to be able to extract all ddl to recreate a schema. To load the data, you could write scripts that will generate insert statements and spool these to a file (sql generating sql), or you could write scripts that generates a delimited file and use sql loader to load the data into the target system. There are lots of little gotchas in either of these 2 solutions. The biggest 2 right away. 1 - picking a delimiter, 2 - dealing with carriage returns in text data. SQL Developer is able to do some extraction, so before you go writing this stuff yourself, I would check it out to see if it does what you are looking for before you reinvent the wheel.

It appears that the truncation of the class/field name used during automatic index name
generation has caused your problem. You can easily subclass DBDictionary
/ use IndexNameGenerator interface to build your own naming algorithm.
See documentation on index name generation:
    http://solarmetric.com/Software/Documentation/2.5.0/docs/ref_guide_conf_kodo.html#com.solarmetric.kodo.impl.jdbc.DictionaryProperties
In addition, you can easily use the sqlout option to generate a SQL script
for you to edit by hand.

  • H2 devide implicit and explicit created indexes by dictionary views?

For migrating amounts of data it is useful to drop and recreate indexes and referencing constaints. A implicit created index by defining a primary/unique key constraint will be dropped implicitly by dropping the before mentioned constraint. Creating such a constraint after creating an equivalent index with the constraint name will result in an other behaviour. The explicit created index will not be dropped by dropping the referencing primary/unique key constraint.
So far so good and well known. The question is: Which dictionary view columns will show me the difference between implicit and explict created indexes if I try to dynamically drop and recreate indexes and unique / primary key constraints?

Oracle Version is always helpful in answering questions, but for 9i you can find the system generated by:
    dba_indexes.generated = 'Y'
    or
'SYS_' naming convention for system generated indexes
    or
    dba_constraints.constraint_name = dba_constraints.index_name
    Hope this helps - JTommaney

  • Generate Insert Statement Script to Extract Data from Table in Oracle 7i

Hi all, I have an old Oracle legacy system that is running for over 15 years.Every now and then we need to extract data from this table@ ORacle 7i to be imported back to Oracle 10G.
My thoughts are to create a script of Insert statements in oracle 7 and that to be deployed back to Oracle 10G.

I get what you are saying,i really wanted to see the output of the codes, because the furtherst i could get from that code is
