Generate New Database failure

Hi
I am having an issue with Generate New Database. This is the first time after the installation.
We have a Siebel 8.0 installation on HP Itanium with an Oracle 10.2.0.3.0 database.
I get the followig errors:
[Sybase][ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Anywhere]Unable to start database server
SQL Message, 08001: [Siebel Database][ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Anywhere]Unable to start database server
Error creating SQL Anywhere database template file (UTLOdbcConnect DBA/siebelmobiledb).
Error in MainFunction (CreateDbTemplateFile)
(gennewdb.cpp (610) err=524292 sys=2) SBL-GDB-00004: Error in Main function.
Do we have to configure something? Can anyone help?

We experienced the same issue. Our DB is Oracle 10.2.0.1 and our App Servers and DB servers are HP-Itaniums... (Prior to Oracle 10.2.0.2 as the minimum.)
We were not able to resolve the issue as we switched to Linux before we completed. our initial deployment.
As the Template DB is a SQL anywhere DB, did you try logging into the the DB using odbcsql.. This should confirm if your DB template file is corrupted or not...
I'm interested in your findings as we did not resolve this before changing platforms...

    Hi,
    Make sure to set the ODBCINI environment variable. The variable must point to the path from the root directory to the system information file where your data source resides. The system information file can have any name, but the product is installed with a default file called odbc.ini in the product installation directory.
    For example, if you use an installation directory of /opt/odbc and the default system information file, from the Korn or Borne shell, you would enter:
    ODBCINI=/opt/odbc/odbc.ini; export ODBCINI
    From the C shell, you would enter:
    setenv ODBCINI /opt/odbc/odbc.ini

  • Regarding Generate New Database Job

    Dear All,
    I have a query regarding Generate New Database job while extracting Local DB to developers.
    I got a request from multiple developers to extract Local DB for them. Do I have to run the Generate Database Job multiple times or is it enought if I run it once and then continue with DB extract Job for all the users?
    Please help me out on this query?
    Regards,
    Abi

    Hi,
    As per oracle documentation -> http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B31104_02/books/RRAdm/RRAdmRM_RemoteConcpts12.html
    "The Generate New Database component creates the local database template for a given database schema version. The component reads the database schema definition from the Siebel repository, then creates Siebel tables and indexes in a database template file stored on the Siebel Remote server in the dbtempl subdirectory."
    Basically after any changes in schema you should run "Generate New Database" job again. That was the reason why I mentioned about generating it again.

  • Generate New Database job never ends

    Hi all,
    We are trying to generate a new template in our DEV environment, the job remains active but never ends. On every attempt , the process stops in a different table or process.
    The log file (level 5) simply stops in a certain point and nothing else happens. The dbeng9 processes consumes almost 90% CPU but the process siebsh does not appear between the top processes.
    We already tried reset all the servers, gateway, reassign the remote component group, recreating diccache.dat, but nothing worked.
    We use siebel loyalty 8.1.1.1 and oracle 11g 11.2 , on top of aix 5.3
    Meanwhile, the workaround was to generate new template in another siebel enterprise and copied the templates to the DEV environment and extracted the databases.
    Will be very thankful if anyone can help.
    Thanks in advance

    But the problem is that the process really stucked. The siebel.dbf , which should be created during the job , stop increasing the size around 30M while in the other environment, when the process finished , the file reached 80M.
    The log file also suddenly stopped to increase. It really seems that the process is waiting for something.
    We are not having resource problems like disk space , cpu or memory lacking.
    Guys, do you know what kind of consistency should be checked for GennewDB? If the repository table definitions have differences when compared with actual physical schema, suppose that we forget to apply some new table definitions, would it be the root cause? Do you know a way to compare the repository definitions against the physical schema? I think "apply all" is not an option..
    Thanks in advance

  • Create feature for generate new collection having separate content database by using custom coding with C#

    Hi all My self ArunDarly .Iam using share point 2010 ,I want below task solve by  using custom coding with

    Hey Arun,
    I have done the same job. Hope this code will help you.
    using (SPSite siteCollectionOuter = new SPSite("Any SC url in which u want to create site."))
    SPWebApplication webApp = siteCollectionOuter.WebApplication;
    SPSiteCollection siteCollection = webApp.Sites;
    SPContentDatabase contentDatabase =
    siteCollection.WebApplication.ContentDatabases.Add(ServerName, New Database Name, Admin Name,
    "Admin Password",25,50, 0);
    //Above line will create new content DB
    contentDatabase.Update();
    siteCollection.WebApplication.Update();
    SPSite newSite = contentDatabase.Sites.Add("New SC Url", "SC Title", SC Desctipyion, 1033,
    15, "STS#0", "SC Admin", "Admin", "admin password",
    "User 2", "User NAme", "Password");
    //Ablove line will create new SC in to the Content DB
    //add the upper limit for the site collection
    SPQuota quota;
    quota = new SPQuota {StorageMaximumLevel = 2510220};
    newSite.Quota = quota;
    // And update the site collection and the content database
    newSite.RootWeb.Update();
    contentDatabase.Update();

  • Creating a new database containing part of an existing database,same server

    Hi All Experts,
    I have a problem. I am trying to create a new database on a server which already has a database (named qadb10g) running on it. I want the new database to contain only a few tablspaces of the "qadb10g" database. I tried this approach.
    1. Take an RMAN backup of the desired tablespaces from the source database (qadb10g), including system and undo tablespaces as well.
    2. Use "SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE ..." RMAN commands to restore all the data files in the new disk location on the same server.
    3. Run "ALTER DATABASE BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE" command in the "qadb10g" database to generate a "create controlfile...." script.
    4. Edit the resulting file (from step 3) to change file locations and database name, instance name, etc.
    5. Create a new init.ora file for the new database.
    6. From an sql*plus session, with "ORACLE_SID" already set to new database name, run the "create controlfile ..." script which we generated and changed above.
    I performed steps 1-5 successfully, But when I ran the step 6 command, I got an error saying "Datafile Header contains database name 'qadb10g' which is not maching the <newdb name> .....".
    This means, the database datafiles which were backed up and restored from the 'qadb10g' database still contain the same db name in their header and this is preventing new control file from being created. So, the new datbase cannot be created. Can anbody help me how to resolve this problem???
    Any urgent help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    At Step 4, did you use the SET <newdbname> in the create controlfile script ?
    At Step 5, did you change the db_name in the pfile ?
    nid is the new and easier way to change the database name.

  • TNS Protocol error in 11g when creating a new database

    Hi,
    I have installed 11g R2 64 Bit on Solaris 10 64 Bit. The installation happened successfully. Now when I use DBCA to create a new database it says ORA-12560 TNS:Protocol Adapter Error. I am accessing the server console and performing all operations there itself, I can't understand this issue.

  • Exception while creating a new database

    Greetings,
    I was using dbca (Database Configuration Assistant) on Linux to create a new database. Everything was going ok until it was 85% done, at which point it waited a long time and then said it had failed and gave the path to a log file. Below is [what I think to be] the relavant part of that log file (emConfig.log). I sure could use some help on this, thanks.

    This may be a clue. In the file emdctl.trc there are many WARN lines (Connection refused) and two ERROR lines (timezones do not match) right at the time when dbca was 85% done. I am speculating that the timezone errors might be relevant to this problem. Below is just a snippet. Yesterday and this morning we tried to run $ORA_HOME/bin/emctl start dbconsole on this database and we get the timezone errors only. If timezone mismatch is the problem, how do you fix it?

  • Problem in Creating a new database in Oracle 9i

    I have installed Oracle 9i for Windows successfully. Now when I try to create a new database either using the Database Configuration Assistant or using the script generated by the Assistant, I get an error message that DATABASE NOT OPEN. So the database will not be created. Please help in this regard, so that I can create a database and I can start working on Oracle 9i.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kiran

    Hi DENIS,
    I have executed the following commands (which are in a script file),
    1. sqlplus /nolog
    2. connect sys/change_on_install as sysdba
    3. create database ...
    4. ...
    When I execute the 3rd command, I get an error message as "ORACLE TERMINATED FORCED" and it will end the session. So when the next set of commands in the script are executed, I got the error saying "DATABASE NOT OPEN".
    How to rectify this problem.
    Thanks in advance,

    i am using oracle 11gR2 database in windows server 2003. database is running in ARCHIVE LOG mode.
    i have taken an online backup of all datafile,controlfile and spfile.Then i crated folders in all the locations as required for new database.
    then i registerd the service of new database named as 'newdb' by
    oradim -NEW -SID newdb
    then i created a password file manually in 'oracle_home\database' location.
    i created a new contolfile named as controlfile_01.ctl. the content of controlfile as follows
    STARTUP NOMOUNT
    CREATE CONTROLFILE SET DATABASE "NEWDB" NORESETLOGS ARCHIVELOG
    MAXLOGFILES 16
    MAXLOGMEMBERS 3

    Hi;
    Error: ORA 205

    file and try again.
    When using mirrored control files, that is, more than one control file
    is referenced in the initialization parameter file, remove the control

  • How to Create new database from cold backup files.

    Dear Experts,
    I have an oracle 10g databae on windows 2003 server.
    The database is in Archive log mode and backup strategy is Taking cold backup ever night.
    Backup steps:
    shut down database.
    copy data files, control files, redo logs, archive logs and parameter files to safe location.
    Startup.
    I have taken a backup at Tuesdaay 1AM and I have archive logs also.
    On Wednesday, I want to Create a new database on another server with the available cold backup files and archive logs. I want to recover the database upto 4PM Wednesday. How can I do this.
    I am not using control file auto backup or control file backup to trace.
    Please help me how can I do this. I am new to oracle database Administration.
    --Thanks

    The steps :
    shut down database.
    copy data files, control files, redo logs, archive logs and parameter files to safe location -- you mean the alternate location for the new databaseare correct (except that I would say "alternate location for the new database").
    If you do not have controlfile backups, you cannot either OPEN the database or RECOVER the database until and unless you CREATE the Controlfiles. You have to generate a CREATE CONTROLFILE script using a BACKUP CONTROLFILE TO TRACE from the Production serer and create the controlfile on the new server.
    BEFORE the Startup, I would use
    RECOVER DATABASE USING BACKUP CONTROLFILE UNTIL CANCEL;The "using backup controlfile" tells Oracle to continue attempting Recovery -- ie doing a RollForward -- till the last archivelog made available to it.
    For the Recover command, you then keep applying the ArchiveLogs from the Tuesday 1am ColdBackup upto Wednesday 4pm.
    Once you have applied the last ArchiveLog, you do an
    ALTER DATABASE OPEN RESETLOGS;Here are my notes of doing a RollForward "Recovery" from a Cold Backup :
    http://hemantoracledba.blogspot.com/2007/05/rollforward-from-cold-backup.html
    If you are attempting all these steps on a different server from your current Production database, you should be safe.
    Once you OPEN the database, you can use CREATE CONTROLFILE or the NID utility to rename the database.
    If you are attempting to create the new database on the same server there are many other precautions you have to take and unless you have experience with cloning databases, I would advice you against doing so (only the RMAN DUPLICATE DATABASE command has a safer method of cloning a database).

  • Trouble using asm instance for new database

    I have an asm instance and am trying to create a new database that will use the asm storage. I'm using dbca to create the new database. This is a test system on windows so I'm using the asmtool -create flatfiles for disks with the asmallow_only_raw_disks parameter set to false.
    If I have #SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS) commented out in my sqlnet.ora, then I can't get into asmcmd:
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges (DBD ERROR: OCISessionBegin)
    and dbca won't create the new database that uses asm because the dbca gets the same 01031 error when trying to create the control files for that database.
    If I have SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NTS) NOT commented out, the I can get into asmcmd, but I can't startup the databases using sys, even though I am sitting at the server,
    AND, dbca won't create the new database that uses asm becuase the dbca can't start the instance
    credential retrieval failure.
    I'm in a catch 22. Something is not right with my system but I just can't seem to figure out what it is.
    The asm instance does have a password file.

    I let the dbca create scripts and am currently walking through the scripts. I think it's my asm database that is actually creating the problem. I did the orapwd and oradim manually and can startup nomount the instance just fine. The create database statement fails on creating the controlfile but it's saying it already exists. I suspected the dbca form wasn't giving me all the errors like it should.
    Thanks for your suggestion on the password file.

  • How to restore backup files to a new database?

    Hello all,
    Our database has stopped working because many config files and some control files were deleted or changed! You can see the full discussion here: ORA-01034 - Oracle not availabe
    We are using Oracle 11g. We got some comprehensive backup files and some incremental ones before this failure.
    Do these backup files contain config and control files too? or just contains data?
    And how I can recover the database using them?
    Thanks for your help

    Thank you so much for your attention.
    Yes exactly, I installed oracle on my laptop and copped its control files into the database and they didn't work
    1- Many backup files of level 0 and level 1. They've been created using these rman commands:
    echo database backup, level 1
    echo %DATE%
    echo %TIME%
    set datetimef=%date:~-4%_%date:~4,2%_%date:~7,2%_%time:~0,2%_%time:~3,2%_%time:~6,2%
    echo %datetimef%
    rman target / @F:\backup1.txt LOG F:\database-backup\rman-logs\%datetimef%.txt
    copy F:\database-backup\rman-logs\%datetimef%.txt F:\database-backup\rman-logs\current-log.txt
    and
    echo database backup, level 0
    echo %DATE%
    echo %TIME%
    set datetimef=%date:~-4%_%date:~4,2%_%date:~7,2%_%time:~0,2%_%time:~3,2%_%time:~6,2%
    echo %datetimef%
    rman target / @F:\backup0.txt LOG F:\database-backup\rman-logs\%datetimef%.txt
    copy F:\database-backup\rman-logs\%datetimef%.txt F:\database-backup\rman-logs\current-log.txt
    What have you done before getting "Oracle not available" message?
    One of group members tried to create a new database using Oracle Database Configuration Assistant and then she couldn't work with the new database (I guess she got some errors when she decided to connect to it using sqldeveloper) and then she deleted the new database using Oracle Database Configuration Assistant, and in the last part it asked her Do you want to delete everything related to the new database and she answered yes.
    What have you done after getting "Oracle not available" message?
    After that we get Oracle Not Available. When I tried to connect to the Oracle via SQLPlus (startup command) it told me that init file does not exist and I recreate that file and put in the right place, then checked some files located in the D:\app\Administrator\admin\iwatchdb\scripts and D:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\dbhome_5\NETWORK\ADMIN. Almost in all of that SID and addresses were changed and pointed to the new database, I just alter them and replaced the Yelp (the name of the new database) with iwatchdb (our main database). So the first error solved, and when I tried to start the database up it told me that control files do not exist! and I checked the address that sqlplus showd in the error and it was right! the control files were deleted from: D:\app\Administrator\oradata\iwatchdb (CONTROL01.CTL) and D:\app\Administrator\flash_recovery_area\iwatchdb (CONTROL02.CTL)
    - What is the latest error you get in the alert.log file?
    do you mean this file? D:\app\Administrator\diag\rdbms\iwatchdb\iwatchdb\alert\log.xml

  • ISE's Internal Root CA. How to generate new one in distributed deployment?

    Hello,
    I have two ISE nodes in distributed deployment. I would like to generate new Internal Root CA certificate. I was able to do that from primary node, but only FOR primary node. How can I achieve this for the other node?
    Best Regards,
    Marek

    Hi Marek-
    All of the certificate management is performed from the Admin Node which becomes the Root CA for the ISE PKI. You generate Subordinate CA certificates to your Policy Nodes from the Primary Admin node. Check this link for more info:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/1-3/admin_guide/b_ise_admin_guide_13/b_ise_admin_guide_sample_chapter_01000.html#task_FF93B4C51BAC4CA196A48B607DAA595D
    Also, since the primary node is the Root CA, you should export the certificate and the private key and import it to your secondary Admin node. This will enable the secondary node to be promoted to a Root CA in case of a failure of the primary admin node:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/security/ise/1-3/admin_guide/b_ise_admin_guide_13/b_ise_admin_guide_sample_chapter_01000.html#concept_435C4E3FF56949B1B4D5A0C73671AB22
    I hope this helps!

  • New database create script using DBCA

    Hi,
    I'm trying to generate a database create script using DBCA. I have another database running on the same physical server(HP-UX and oracle 10g R2). When I run the DBCA, it is creating scripts to Clone DB and Clone RMAN restore. Why it is not generating to create a new database instead of cloning the DB.
    Thanks

    ThanksWhen you launch dbca, you need to select to create a 'custom' database, not one of the pre-canned templates. The templates will all result in a script that does an rman restore from a backup that comes with the product. Selecting 'custom' database will result in scripts built around the CREATE DATABASE sql statement.
