Generating Parameter driven Reports
Hello Group,
I am working on a assignment to generate parameter driven reports. Here is the detailed description:
1. End user access Report A.
2. From Report A, the user selects a row from Report Aand passes the
deptno to Report B
3. Report B is then generated
Below is a diagram of the process.
User--(User Accesses Report A)--->Report A is generated with columns
deptno and deptname--(User selects Row X from Report A)--->Drop down
list of other reports (Report B and Report C) appears--(User selects
Report B)--->Report B is generated with columns empno and ename with the
Report A, Row X, deptno value as the parameter.
I need to display a static list of Report Names when a user clicks on DeptNo. Would like to know whether we can associate a Link to LOV or DropDown List.

Hi,
What u could do is create a FORM instead for REPORT "A". The form has a combo box with the values.
On selecting one of these values from the combo box ,you could write a stored procedure that would call the corresponding report with the value you just selected.

No there is no diagram driven report

You an have subview driven report. You need to create report configuration and then you can select objects in one or several subviews to appear in report even you can exclude some of them from report. And you'll get subview driven navigation at the beginning of report.

I am trying to generate a list of the programs on all channels for a specific day showing the channel number, supplier, package, program name, rating code, and show time. This will be similar to a program guide, only not package specific. This is a date-driven report, therefore it should only display programs for a single date specified.

Which gives me an undesired resulT containg rows that put names of all channels with each channel number and ends up outputting 3016 rows which there should be only 29.

We are unable to open pdf reports in Workspace with the following error. It was all working fine and doesn't work now for unknown reasons.

no : in front of the name, if you submit it via URL !
b) there are some issues with acrobat5 and IE but those are not
only caused by PDFs generated with oracle reports.

Hi,
I create a Oracle Report as a Portlet in Portal (create Report Definition File Access and check on the option "Publish As Portlet" in the on the last step). My report has an "Additional User Parameter" and I has let it "Visible to user".
When I put this portlet in my Portal page, I can see this parameter in the property/parameters of this page. However I cannot transfer my page parameter to this portlet parameter. Other portlets in this page (non-Oracle-Report portlets) are working fine with my page parameter.
Please advice.I want to make sure we are talking about the same thing:
After you add the portlet to the page, you go to the page properties, then the parameters tab, then there is a section at the bottom called "Portlet Parameter Values" where you can click and expand your portlet to see your portlet parameters.
Is it here where your parameters just don't show up?
If it is, try the following:
- Add the portlet to another page and see if it still behaves the same.
- Mark the parameters in the portlet as being non-public, re-generate portlet (on manage tab), then mark them as being public, re-generate and then try the above again (add to another page). -

The TYPE parameter suggests that it would determine the format and whilst the nline documentation in the code (desc DBMS_SQLTUNE) suggests that valid values are TEXT, HTML and XML, it seems that this is not yet implemented. Whilst valid values of TEXT, HTML and XML are validated, only a TEXT report is produced. -
Parameter-driven group sorting?

i have a report that is grouped by employee name. the report has 7 columns, displaying a summarized field in the group header. the summarized values are based on formulae that are evaluation in the Details section.i would like to be able to dynamically sort the group based on a parameter value. the parameter would allow the user to sort either on one of the week days or on the employee name.in the past, i have been successful sorting the Details section based on a parameter, but sorting a group is challenging. has anyone been able to do this?Post Author: Charliy

If you want to do Parameter driven grouping: You have a formula: IF {?GroupBy} = 1 THEN {table.EmployeeName} else IF {?GroupBy} = 2 THEN {table.SomethingElse}
You may have to use Totext or some other function to make them the same data type. Group on that formula. If one of the options is something like day of week, or a date or portion of a date (YYYYMM), then create another formula for display in the group header.
IF you're talking about sorting within a group - same formula, you just use the sort expert to put it after the grop field in the sort sequence -

My requirement is to generate two different reports from NI teststand. One for the Logging of error descriptions and the other report is by default generated by the Teststand. How can i generate a txt file that contains error descriptions other than that mentioned in the default report?

Go to Solution.Do you need to do that just for these two sequences but not for other sequences? I don't see a problem to use SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError. Create this callback in both sequence files and configure them to log into the same file. SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError callback is called after each step of the sequence file if it has runtime error. You can access the calling step error information via RunState.Caller.Step.Result.Error property. Take a look to attached example.
The "other way" is useful if you need to log errors not for every step of the sequence file, but for some of them. This is more complex, because you need to create a custom step types for these steps. For the custom step you can create substeps (post-step in your case) which will be executed every time after step of this type executed. Then, this is you job to determine if error happened in the step, acces to step's error information is via Step.Result.Error property.
Also, be aware that step's post-expression is not executed in case of error in the step.

Unable to generate ADDM snapshot reports as the error_count is 1
Hi,
my db is on 10.1.0.2 windows 2003 server.
errors while generating ADDM snapshots, was schedule for every 15 minutes,
the error_count is 1 from dba_hist_snap, these errors are continous and generates a trace file on m000_no

Good day,
I searched through the forum and cant find anything.
I have around 300 published reports on SSRS and we are busy migrating to a new system.
They have already setup their tables on the new system and I need to provide them with a list of table names and column names that are being used currently to generate the 300 reports on SSRS.
We use various tables and databases to generate these reports, and will take me forever to go through each query to get this info.
Is it at all possible to write a query in SQL 2008 that will give me all the table names and columns being used?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Andre.There's no straightforward method for that I guess. There are couple of things you can use to get these details
1. query the ReportServer.dbo.Catalog table
for getting details
you may use script below for that

2. Another method is to run the reports and run sql profiler trace on background to retrieve queries used.
But in some of these cases the report might be using a procedure and you will get only procedure. Then its upto you to get the other details from procedure like tables used, columns etc
