Generationg .jar in WebSphere 4.0

Hi,
Can anybody let me know whether the following files:
"ibm-ejb-jar-bnd.xmi" and "ibm-ejb-jar-ext.xmi" are automatically generated or developer has to write these in the META-INF directory for some EJB Module before packaging in the .jar file.

If you are talking about WSAD, it does it for you.

  • Xpath expression not working with xmlparserv2 10.x jar in websphere application server 8

    Hi,
    I am using xmlparserv2 10.x  jar in websphere application server to transform xml. Due to some unknown reason we are seeing inconsistent result for the xpath expression we used inside the xslt.
    .|following-sibling::* This is the xpath expression we use.
    the meaning of the expression is to union the current node and the following siblings of the current node. But while rendering the page( a servlet) for first two times it gives the expected result. From the third time, it is giving unexpected results. It is missing the first node in the following-sibling::* So it just results in current node and misses the next node and then combine the nodes following the next node.
    For example when executing the above expression on the node A , it should result A B C D. It is returing correctly for first 3 times. From the 4th time it just results  A C D and misses B.
    <root>
         <A />
         <B />
         <C />
         <D />
    </root>
    But it giving results consistently when using xmlparserv2 9.x jar. But it is not 1.5 compliant.
    Pleas help!..
    Thanks,
    SP.

    If you are new to JSF, then I'd try and simplify the environment in which you are working as the first step to achieving a successful outcome.
    JSF 1.2 is a certified and well tested component of WLS, so we know it works. I'm not sure of the effect of all those additional modules you are adding in there -- it appears as if you have gotten a Faces implementation instantiated, but there could be some form of version difference/conflict since it can't find a method its looking for.
    Using Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/oepe/oepe_11115.html) you can build yourself out a pretty simple JSF application to get started from and deploy it to a WLS server. This would remove all the additional libraries you currently have, provide you with a bundled applicaton to deploy and give you a pretty good environment from which you can learn and experiment with JSF.

  • Websphere standalone client invocation

    Hello,
    We are in the process of migrating an EJB application from weblogic(6.1) to webshpere (5.0). We have created the EJB jar for websphere and it is successfully deployed. Since we can not test it connecting from the front end (iPlanet) due to unavailability, we have stand alone client that calls one of the EJB methods. It gets compiled successfully and in runtime we get the following exception.

    I realize this is a very old topic, but the I have followed the same instructions and the errors still are occurring. The jar mentioned as the solution does not have the class inside it.
    I am doing something very similar. Using a POJO to call an EJB/DataSource, but it is not having any luck finding the classes is nneeds. I am running the code on WSAD 5.1.1 and the server is WAS 5.0.

  • Why can't I get an initial context in websphere!?!

    I am using WebSphere App Dev v.4.0, and I have written a client application which should call methods from an EJB. But I don't seem to be able to get an initial context no matter what I do. Here is a snippet of the app code and the exception it throws: I will be most grateful if someone could help me out. Thanks Ben.

    Hi Ben,
    As the gurus told in the earlier replies, it is the problem with Class loading.
    Make Sure that following jar files are in CLASSPATH. (Assuming C:\Websphere is your websphere installation directory)
    J2EE.jar - C:/Websphere/AppServer/lib/J2ee.jar
    Websphere.jar - C:/Websphere/AppServer/lib/websphere.jar
    Ibmorb.jar - C:/Websphere/AppServer/java/jre/lib/ext/ibmorb.jar
    Once you have all these in your CLASSPATH, try running your client application. If you are using Sun JDK you will encounter an error message in the runtime which says like "Service Unavaible.. XXXX Service not found".
    When you encounter this problem make sure that your service named XXXX is running and you are calling it appropriately. To find whether a service with name XXXX is running type
    >>>>dumpnamespace
    at the command prompt. If your service name is listed by dumpnamespace.. your service is running. So there is something wrong with the client code. Proceed to the next step.
    In this tep you can use IBM JDK to fix the error. But that might not be the most suitable solution.
    Here is how you can run Websphere EJB client programs without IBM JDK.
    http://www7b.software.ibm.com/wsdd/downloads/pluggableclient.html
    Follow this link and download the Websphere Pluggable application client and follow the instructions given in Readme to install the pluggable application client.
    Once you finish installing the pluggable application client, you should be able to run with no problems.
    For dwildcat92
    I was also under the impression that we SHOULD use IBM JDK to make the client run. But our integration process demanded that the clients be called from Apache Tomcat. Thats how I was forced to find this link
    http://www7b.software.ibm.com/wsdd/downloads/pluggableclient.html
    Thanks for making me learn guys,
    Ravi.

  • Add Custom Login Class in Websphere environment

    Hi experts,
    We created a Custom Login class of EPM 11.1.2.2, as we use Weblogic added the JAR in 2 directories:
    1) "<MW_HOME>\EPMSystem11R1\common\jlib\11.1.2.0"
    2) "<MW_HOME>\user_projects\domains\EPMSystem\lib"
    Now we need test this "Custom Login" in Websphere 7.0, but in Websphere environment does not has the second directory.
    Somebody know where we add the jar in Websphere environment?
    Thanks

    Hyperion11.1.2.2. Workspace API
    I am very new to Hyperion11.1.2.2. After studying few APIs, I
    found Workspace API can be used to automate some task, using
    custom java program. I am able to use login.java (sample) and
    login to the server. Can someone please redirect me to API
    documentation, so I can understand each class, function and
    interface of the API and use them in a java program.
    ths Regards

    I did notice that it was using the JRE System LIbrary [WebSphere v5.1 JRE] and I changed it to the WebSphere v5.1 EE JRE like I think it should have been...

    This error is caused by $(node.name) variables in the application server descriptors of the nodes not being replaced with the node name.
    Simply open the server.xml file for each node and replace $(node.name) with the specific node name of each node. This can also be done at the dmgr level for each application server so that it syncs in the future.
    See this topic for a similar error involving security.xml:

  • Eclipse as a development environment with Jakarta Tomcat

    Hello:
    I am setting up the new development environment for my application (project). Below are the components involved::

         myEclipse - EnterpriseWorkbenchInstaller_4.0GA_E3.1
         jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28 (Application Server)
         Sysdeo Eclipse Tomcat Launcher plugin - tomcatPluginV31beta
         SDK 1.4.2_08
         Microsoft XP sp2 operating system
    I have no issue with creation of project structure in eclipse IDE, compilation, and deployment, but there are some exception upon running the application.
    My project folder structure as follows:
    MyApplication/
    src/
    Conf/
    Web/
    classes
    taglib
    lib
    web.xml
         my application has few dependent projects, therefore I copied all the dependent projects final compiled classes (jars) to lib folder.
         I set all necessary classpath according to tomcat documentation.
         I created MyApplication.xml file under D:\jakarta-tomcat-5.0.28\conf\Catalina\localhost\ folder with the below context

    I overcame the above issue by changing index.html to index.jsp, but now i am facing another issue as shown below:
    On top of the above change i too included j2ee.jar (from websphere) in the classpath to overcome the below issue, but even then i am getting the same error.

    Your LD_LIBRARY_PATH is wrong, libraries are in $ORACLE_HOME/lib, not $ORACLE_HOME itself. The same for $TNS_ADMIN, normally net configuration files are in $ORACLE_HOME/network/admin.
    export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/nba/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/lib

    Do you have any suggestions
    Regards,
    Sunil

    Hi Peter,
    You are right. Child is being inserted even before parent got inserted (actually "committed") into the DB.we would need to look at your code where are you doing all these creates (may be ejbCreate). Most probably ur error should get fixed by changing the transactional attributes in the DD files. Try using <delay-database-inserts-until> element.
    More details available at:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs70/faq/ejb.html#257426
    If it doesn't help, open up a case with BEA Support.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks
    -Rais

    Christian --
    Your information is not sufficient to determine the cause of the problem (some system or spawnvp call returns the error code EINVAL).
    - If you just say sqlj, do you also see the problem?
    - Do you see the problem if you say sqlj -n ?
    - As a workaround, you can give the -n argument to sqlj to see an alternative command line that you could issue directly without going through the SQLJ wrapper executable.
    - I can also give you the source to sqlj.exe, so you can try to get to the bottom of this problem in your environment (mail to [email protected])
    Thanks!

  • Exception creating InitialContext

    Can anyone help me figure out why I get an exception creating a default initial context?
    I have a class that contains a method that contains the following line:
    // Get naming context.
    initial = new InitialContext();
    This class is used by a Java application and works fine. I have a simple C++ application that uses the
    JNI Invocation API to load a JVM and then calls the same method in the same class. In this case, the same line of code throws an exception (below). Here's the relevant C++ code.
    vm1_1_args.version = JNI_VERSION_1_1;
    JNI_GetDefaultJavaVMInitArgs(&vm1_1_args);
    sprintf(classpath, "%s;%s", vm1_1_args.classpath, "E:\\WebSphere\\wsappdevie51\\DocuRouter\\SourceAppAPI\\bin\\jar\\DocuRouterSourceAPI.jar;C:\\j2sdkee1.3.1\\lib\\j2ee.jar;C:\\j2sdkee1.3.1\\lib\\j2ee-ri-svc.jar;E:\\WebSphere\\wsappdevie51\\DocuRouter\\J2EEApp\\J2EEAppClient.jar");
    vm1_1_args.classpath = classpath;
    res = JNI_CreateJavaVM(&jvm, (void**)&env, &vm1_1_args);
    cls = env->FindClass("com/softlinx/docurouter/DocuRouterSourceAppAPI");
    urlcls = env->FindClass("java/net/URL");
    mid = env->GetMethodID(cls, "initialize", "(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/net/URL;)V");
    // Get the constructor for the class
    constructormid = env->GetMethodID(cls, "<init>", "()V");
    // Get the constructor for the class
    urlconstructormid = env->GetMethodID(urlcls, "<init>", "(Ljava/lang/String;)V");
    // Construct java object.
    obj = env->NewObject(cls, constructormid);
    // Create app name string
    appname = env->NewStringUTF("AscentCapture");
    // Create URL string
    urlstring = env->NewStringUTF("http://qa-89.softlinx.com:10590");
    // Construct URL object
    urlobj = env->NewObject(urlcls, urlconstructormid, urlstring);
    env->CallVoidMethod(obj, mid, appname, urlobj);
    Here's the exception when the following line is called: initial = new InitialContext();
