Get an enumeration value (not a description) of Simple type

Hi,all
How can I get an enumeration value (not a description) of Simple type that I have created?
Regards,
Michael

Michael-
Here is how you do it:
1. Create an attribute of the Simple Type you have created in your controller context.
2. Insert a DropDownByKey in your view.
3. Create a data binding between the attribute and the selectedKey property of the drop down list.
4. To get the key of the selected value use the following code in your controller:
String key = wdContext.currentContextElement().get_AttributeName_();
Where AttributeName is the name of the attribute you have created in step 1.

  • How do I get enumeration description from simple type?

    Hello!
    I want to display the value of a simple type in a table and display the description in a tool tip for the cell, how do I do that?
    I'm using Web dynpro for java 7.0 ehp1.
    I'm using an enumeration with 5 possible values with corresponding descriptions.
    If I use a (read only) dropdownByKey the description is shown in the drop down, but I only want to show it as a tooltip since it takes up some screen space.
    I would like to use a textview, is there a simple way to get the description as a tooltip? I thought about doing a calculated attribute that gets the description but I'm not sure about how to do it or if its the easiest way.
    Thank you for any help!

    Hi Richard,
    for getting the description of the simple type attribute ( Ex.X) create a context attribute of type string (Ex. Y) and bind it to the tooltip property of table cell editor.
    Set the read only and calculated property of the attribute Y to true.
    Put this code in the automatic generated method for calculated attribute :-
    String value1 = nodeElement.getX;
    IWDAttributeInfo attInfo = wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute("X");
    ISimpleValueSet valueset = attInfo.getModifiableSimpleType().getSVServices().getValues();
    if(valueset.containsKey(value1)){
    String value2 = valueset.getText(value1);
    wdContext.node<NodeName>.setY(value2);
    By this way you can set the description of the simple type as tooltip but by using dropdown by key and index you cannot  show the valueof the simple type in the UI.
    So another way is bind the simple type attribute to a inputfield uielement in the table column.  Your simple type enumeration data will come as a F4 help in the UI and after selection you will be able to see value in inputt field and description as a tooltip.

  • Peoplecode to get dropdownlist box value and its description

    Hi,
    I have assigned a value and its description to dropdownlist box. when try to get the value and description in somewhere, i didn't get the description. i got only the value of the current row in a rowset. but i want to fetch the description which i assigned to the dropdownlist for the corresponding value. Is there any way to get the description?

    Since it is not a XLAT bound to the field, you cannot use the field class properties.
    What is the source of the dropdownlist?
    If it comes from a database record, you could fetch the description from the database using the &Field.Value as input.
    But this would cause a lot of database roundtrips.
    You could store the value and description in a two dimensional component array variable and load this array with the values and descriptions at PostBuild Event.
    This will only fires ones during the component build.
    Suppose the values are "hardcoded", something like this
    /* Create component 2-dim array */
    Component array of array of string &DropdownArray;
    &DropdownArray = CreateArrayRept("", 0);
    &DropdownArray.Push(CreateArray("value1", "descr1");
    &DropdownArray.Push(CreateArray("value2", "descr2");
    &DropdownArray.Push(CreateArray("value3", "descr3");
    After this populate the dropdownlist with values and descriptions from the array.
    For &i = 1 To &DropdownArray.Len
      &Field.AddDropDownItem(&DropdownArray[&i][1], &DropdownArray[&i][2]);
    End-For;
    Whenever you need to fetch the description of the dropdownlist value, first find the value by &Field.Value and then search within the array for the description.
    /*Get value from dropdown */
    &Value = &Field.Value;
    /*Find index for value*/
    &Ind = &DropdownArray.Find(&Value);
    /*Get description (second index in subarray)*/
    &Descr = &DropdownArray [&Ind][2];
    I am writing the code without an environment, so typos could exist
    Hope this helps.

    I am using 0itm_cat object in my query. I have assigned a variable to it. In the variable screen when i do a F4 to search for values i can only see the keys but not the text.
    What could be the reason for this?
    I have tried changing the propeties like look into master data table / from the info provisder etc in the query but still was not able to display the text.

  • Cash Discount Days (ZBD1T) gets an automatic value, not wanted

    Hi,
    When i use LSMW to post an open customer item the ZBD1T field will sometimes have an automatic entry, probably based on the HKONT (Reconcilliation account) that is used. This is unwanted because i need the ZBD1T field to be empty (it is skipped in the input file).
    Is there a transaction which defines any automatic entries in this field based on values like the reconciliation account used?

    Hi Casper,
    The field ZBD1T is usually populated based on Payment Terms ZTERM. The ZTERM is defaulted in the line item during the posting for a customer based on the Payment Term ZTERM given in customer master data KNA1/KNB1. You have an option to change the payment terms during posting or it is defaulted.
    Hope this clarifies.
    Rgds.

  • Get string value from enumerated value on AE user interface

    Hello.
    I'm trying to get the string value from a enumerated value on a layer's property.
    When I get the value via script, I have  1D value. However, I need the string value.
    In this example, the value I would get is 1. Is there any way I can get "Horizontal and Vertical".
    I'm looking for a generic way (any property value defined this way), not for this case only.
    Thanks for the help.
    cheers.

    You get the selected value via the value property of the component.

  • VALUES not getting passed in t.code 'FMY3' VIA call transaction 'FMY3'

    hi guru's,
    i have created a ALV report for funds precommitment,when i click the document number,the respective document is not opening
    i have coded like this
    IF selfield-value IS NOT INITIAL.
            READ TABLE final INDEX selfield-tabindex.
            SET PARAMETER ID: 'KBL' FIELD final-belnr,
                              'KBP' FIELD final-blpos.
            CALL TRANSACTION 'FMY3' AND SKIP FIRST SCREEN.
          ENDIF.
    the transaction is called,but with empty value in the field and the document is not opening....please help me with this regard...
        thanks in advance,
    regards,
    Balaji.S

    Hello Venkat.O,
    i have a similar problem with the overwrite of the memory ID, when calling transaction FMY3. In the code block you mentioned, the system gets the right value from the memory ID, that i've set before calling the transaction. But i found that after that the system runs in the include LFMFRO01, the code
    MODULE init_suppress OUTPUT.
      IF status2 = st2_app.                "/Genehmigen/Ablehnen
    Lesen aus Memory: wird in WF-Methode 'APPROVE' gefüllt
        IMPORT wfdata TO g_f_wfdata FROM MEMORY ID con_memid_wf.
        IF NOT g_f_wfdata-belnr IS INITIAL.
          IF g_f_wfdata-blpos = space.
            g_f_wfdata-blpos = con_initial_blpos.
          ENDIF.
          kbld-belnr = g_f_wfdata-belnr.
    and here the system gets the memory of the last document created and overwrites the selecion-screen field KBLD-BELNR with that value. And the value i had stored in the parameter ID 'MRV', and that the system gets it right in the code you show, is overwritten..
    This seems like a bug from SAP, don't you think?
    This way the system will always show the last doc. when calling transaction, after setting a parameter ID..

    The message in simple English just means that "You are doing something really bad" !!! It is absolutely not the communication problem, but understanding problem.
    Though you may be executing the same function using SE37 or in the webshop application through JCo, the runtime context is different and without knowing what exactly your Z rfc is doing, it is very difficult to help. To start with, the userid - that is who is running the RFC is different in both situations. In SE37, it is the logon user and in the web, depending upon whether the connection is stateless or stateful, it could be the anonymous ICSS user or the logged in user. Here again, if you have used UME, it is the user id and if you have used ALIAS user, then it is the alias user id. This is just an example. Your runtime context can be different due to many other reasons too.
    So, to make this simpler - what is that you are trying to do?
    BTW, try not to create multiple threads for the same issue..

    Hi,
    As you do the inner join it will not retrieve the null rows.
    See the below illustration:
    SQL> select * from a;
    ID
    12
    12
    10
    11
    13
    7 rows selected.
    SQL> select * from b;
    ID
    12
    13
    45
    25
    36
    9 rows selected.
    ********* no null rows retrieved for inner join below ******************
    SQL> select a.id from a inner join b on a.id=b.id;
    ID
    12
    12
    13
    ********* null rows retrieved for outer join below **************
    SQL> select a.id from a left outer join b on a.id=b.id;
    ID
    12
    12
    13
    10
    11
    7 rows selected.

  • Not able to get the profile value set at Responsibility level

    Hi,
    I had set the value of a custom profile at Responsibility level and in CO i used the
    following code,
    String rLocation = pageContext.getProfile("XXTMG_PR_SCP_LOCATION");
    The above call returns NULL. But if i set the value of the profile at Site Level then the above code returns the correct value of the profile. I bounced the apache after the profile option was changed but no avail.
    I even tried using getOADBTransaction().getSpecificProfile() in the AM (which was
    called from CO) as below but could not get the value of the profile,
    Number lRespID = new Number(getOADBTransaction().getResponsibilityId());
    String retLoc1 = getOADBTransaction().getSpecificProfile("XXTMG_PR_SCP_LOCATION","","",
    lRespID.toString());
    Could any of you please let me know whether i have missed something in the code which results in not getting the correct value for the profile at the Responsibility level.
    Thanks, Suresh.

    Instead of passing null for the other parameters in call to getSpecificProfile, can you please set these params and try ?
    Also, please note that if a value is defined at site level, then even if a value is present at the resp level, the value at site will be returned when you use getProfile method.
    Thanks
    Tapash
