Get or set security credentials for XML web service client authentication

Dear,
I wrote a custom asp.net web service that acts as a wrapper for the taxonomyclientservice.asmx in sharepoint 2010.
ON my local machine, the following code works:
  using (Taxonomy.Taxonomywebservice TaxonomyClient = new COSMOS_Taxonomy.Taxonomywebservice())
TaxonomyClient.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "pass", "domain");
TaxonomyClient.PreAuthenticate = true;
etc..
The authentication works when i provide the user credentials.
the problem is when i deploy the webservice to my production env. I dont know the owner of the metadata term store and its out of the question to get the username and password.
when i try to run this code on my local machine:
TaxonomyClient.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
i get this error:
System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall)
at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters)
at COSMOS_TermSet.COSMOS_Taxonomy.Taxonomywebservice.GetTermSets(String sharedServiceIds, String termSetIds, Int32 lcid, String clientTimeStamps, String clientVersions, String& serverTermSetTimeStampXml)
at COSMOS_TermSet.CustomWebService.GetCountryTermSet()
How can i fix this.
Many thanks in advance

Hi Roni,
Based on your description, the error occurred when using the DefaultCredential in the code.
I recommend to check if the “<identity impersonate="true"></identity>” is included in web.config file.
If not, add it to web.config file to see if the issue still occurs.
Best regards.
Thanks

  • Problem using WSDL from SAP in IBM's RAD for generating web service client

    When importing a WSDL from the ABAP stack on a SAP 6.40 system into IBM's RAD tool for generating a web service client there are errors with the soap fault classes that get generated.  The WSDL declares the types for the faults with WebServiceName.RfcException and these have elements of name, text, and message.  When the tools see this in the WSDL they generate classes that extend the Java exeception class and this causes an error because the "message" name conflicts with the standard java exception message.  Has anyone else ran into this problem?  It seems like a basic problem many java tools for generating web service client proxies would have because the soap faults get turned into java exceptions.  This name conflict of the java exception with the WSDL fault definition means that code always needs to be adjusted and cannot simply use the classes that are generated from the WSDL.  Anyone run across this or a similar problem in the java environment using the SAP WSDL?

  • Security-role for java web services developed using j-developer 10.1.2.1

    I have developed a java web service using j-developer 10.1.2.1, I have deployed this web service to oracle 10g (10.1.2.1) application server successfully. Now I want to add security-role to my web service deployment descriptor so that only a group of users that belong to a group can access my web service.
    How can I do this? Can any one please let me know.
    Thanks,
    SC.

    Hi.
    I suspect you have a proxy server between your localhost and the
    drive-app1.drivesoftwaresolutions.com
    Probably in Jdev that proxy is setup nicely in Tools->Preferences->Web Browser and Proxy
    But maybe your OC4J container running BPEL on localhost does not have that proxy setup.
    You need to add startup parameters to the JVM. In 10.1.3 you can do this via the "AS Control" administration pages (there is a link on the SOA suite welcome page). Go to JVM, click on the container and switch to the "Administration" tab.
    The properties are proxySet, proxyHost, proxyPort and nonProxyHosts
    When deploying from JDev, the compilation in JDev works fine (uses the proxy). But when the JAR is transferred to the server, it is compiled again. This fails because the proxy is not used on the server side and it cannot read the wsdl.

  • Web service client authentication problem

    I applied security role to deployed web services. When I use clientgen to generate client stub or using java client to get WSDL, I got authentication error asking for username and password.
    This only happens when I use import in my WSDL file to import other schema files. I think the authentication process happened when retrieving wsdl file, but not import schema files.
    Is this some kind of BEA bugs or known issue?
    Any advice is appreciated.

    Yes, this is a problem. It should be fixed in upcoming release. The work around is embeding the schema to WSDL or run clientgen against a local copy.

  • How to create Listening Channel for XML/web services repsonse

    Hi , I am new to B2B 11g, wish to ask tht,
    I followed the B2B tutorial by using Generic File and it working fine. However,
    if I wish to receive XML from trading partner thought web server, how should i configure the listening channel, which protocol should I use.
    And may any1 kindly reference me to any link or info?
    Thanks you.

    however..if remote partner going to send me thought web services and not thought folder, should I do anything on my B2B? did i need to specific any extra listening channel?No. No additional configuration is required for receiving files over HTTP. Just ask your TP to post files over one of the below URL's -
    http://hostname:soa_server_port/b2b/httpReceiver or http://hostname:soa_server_port/b2b/transportServlet
    If you just want to test your B2B whether it is properly configured then best way is to have another B2B setup (may be a new domain) which will mock your TP setup. From that B2B setup send message to your B2B over HTTP (on any of above URL's) and see if gets processed successfully.
    If you just want to test whether your B2B is ready to accept messages over HTTP, then access the above URL's through browser and make sure that you see below message -
    "B2B Server is ready to accept HTTP messages from the Trading Partner"

  • How to forward security credentials from one web service to another

    Here is what I am trying to do... I have a standalone client that invokes a message-level secured web service (WEBSERVICE A) on a Weblogic 9.1 server (SERVER A) with a username and a password, and this web service (WEBSERVICE A) uses the same username and password from the client, and invokes another message-level secured web service (WEBSERVICE B) deployed on a different WebLogic 9.1 server (SERVER B).
    Does WebLogic 9.X automatically asserts the same client credentials when the WEBSERVICE A invokes WEBSERVICE B on a different server? If it doesn't, what is the best way to do that? Thanks.

    You can save the site (spweb) as a template, and then use the template to create a new site in another web application.
    When you save the site, it's saved to the solutions gallery. You can download the saved site from the solutions gallery, and then use it to create the new site collection.
    If the site is a publishing site, you'll need to de-activate the publishing features first.
    You can save the site as a template via the sites settings page, or via SharePoint designer.
    Have a look here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-designer-help/save-a-sharepoint-site-as-a-template-HA101782501.aspx

  • Web-service client for legacy web service

    I currently access a legacy server (Lotus Domino 7) via CORBA. I thought a web service (my second) would be faster, but a whole day's research has uncovered only obsolete or trivial examples.
    The WSDL generated by the server is rpc/encoded so wsimport cannot generate the necessary "artifacts" for a web service client.
    The web service is simple: it accepts two java.lang.Strings, and returns a java.lang.String of XML. The "dynamic proxy" approach from 1.4.2 seems to have disappeared; I was hoping that approach would let me just hand-code a single "artifact" - an SEI based on the method information in the WSDL.
    1) What classes in JAX-WS will let my web service client communicate with rpc?
    2) With such a simple signature, do I need any other "artifacts" beyond an SEI?
    Thanks for any help!

    In case anyone's search leads them here, I've posted the solution at:
    *[http://www.pby.com/general.nsf/webarticles/dominowebservice01]*
    It is an exhaustive article (not "Hello World"!) that goes through several versions of the web service and client - hopefully explaining all* pieces of the puzzle:
    ~ web service code,
    ~ WSDLs
    ~ schema
    ~ thoroughly-documented clients that do and do not use JAXB
    ~ ... that use generated artifacts
    ~ ... that customize existing POJOs
    ~ the SOAP messages generated in each direction
    ~ the necessary JAXB annotations
    ~ explanations of how the code works
    ~ explanations of how namespaces affect the code
    ~ on and on and on...
    My constant goal was to write an uncomplicated solution that uses as few artifacts (two) and annotations as possible. The end result is a small, fast JAX-WS 2.0 client that uses JAXB to invoke and consume a secured Domino 7 (1.4.2 JVM + AXIS) web service, using RPC/literal SOAP messages.

  • Pros & Cons for consuming web services in ABAP using ABAP PROXY

    Hi,
    Other then performence  is there any other disadvantages like security,etc for consuming web services in ABAP using ABAP proxy?
    I really appreciate if some one provide the more details(Pros & Cons ) regarding cosuming web services and I also want to know is there any other way to consume web services in ABAP.
    Thanks.

    <i> is there any other way to consume web services in ABAP</i>
    you can use cl_http_client class to make your program to act as http client and post the soap message too webservice. This way you dont need to generate proxy, but you should know the soap message format.

  • SAAJ (Web Service Client) and Integrated windows Authentication

    Hello
    I have build a web service client using SAAJ, the Web services is deployed on MS IIS. Every thing seems to work fine, The problem appears when I apply directory security on the Web Service Directory. When I apply Basic authentication SAAJ manages to send the user name and password and it goes fine, but when I apply Integrated Windows Authentication, I always get a response Access is Denied.
    I know we can authenticate the user credentials from NTLM from JAAS but here I am using a web services client.
    My Question is How can we pass the user credentials through a web service client to the IIS when the directory security is Windows Integrated Authentication?
    Any work around or the solution will be appreciated.
    Thanks :-)
    Syed Saulat

    Hi Gilles,
    Thank you very much for your answer. Actually, I think the problem is a little bit different. The kerberos server is not delivering a "grant" ticket to the client for the service provided by the VIP, because the CSS didn't register to the Active Directory, as a normal W2K web server would. The first thing the client does when he wants to access a web server behind the CSS is to ask the kerberos server for a "gtanting" ticket for that service. So the problem arise before the client sends any packet to the CSS (therefore I think it is more a Microsoft problem rather than a CSS problem).
    But for sure, other people have this environment I suppose...
    What is your opinion on this ?

  • Web service client timeout

    Hi,
    I'm trying to set a timeout on my web service client. But its not working. Your tutorials do not seem to address this.
    I am using weblogic 10.3.2, with Java 1.6.
    ============
    Properties propSys = System.getProperties();
    propSys.put( "weblogic.webservice.UseWebLogicURLStreamHandler", "true" );
    Stub stub = (Stub)portObject;
    BindingInfo bindingInfo = (weblogic.webservice.binding.BindingInfo)stub._getProperty("weblogic.webservice.bindinginfo");
    bindingInfo.setTimeout(1);
    Iterator itr = stub._getPropertyNames();
    while (itr.hasNext()){
    Object element = itr.next();
    log("\n properties that can be set: "+element);
    stub._setProperty("weblogic.webservice.rpc.timeoutsecs","1");
    ===========
    I've also tried setting the transaction-timeout and the remove-client-timeout in the weblogic-ear-jar.xml.
    ===========
    <weblogic-ejb-jar>
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    <ejb-name>ExternalEntryEJB</ejb-name>
    <transaction-descriptor>
    <trans-timeout-seconds>1</trans-timeout-seconds>
    </transaction-descriptor>
    <enable-call-by-reference>True</enable-call-by-reference>
    <jndi-name>ExternalEntry</jndi-name>
    <remote-client-timeout>1</remote-client-timeout>
    </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    <ejb-name>InternalEJB</ejb-name>
    <local-jndi-name>Internal</local-jndi-name>
    <enable-call-by-reference>True</enable-call-by-reference>
    <remote-client-timeout>1</remote-client-timeout>
    <transaction-descriptor>
    <trans-timeout-seconds>1</trans-timeout-seconds>
    </transaction-descriptor>
    </weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    </weblogic-ejb-jar>
    ===========
    in case it matters, I am using weblogic.ant.taskdefs.webservices.clientgen.ClientGenTask as the clientgen task in my build.xml
    ============
    <clientgen autotype="False" ear="${dist}/${app.earname}" warName="${servlet.warname}" packageName="MyPackage.webservices.client"
    keepgenerated="False" useServerTypes="True" clientJar="${dist}/MyAppClient.jar">
    <classpath refid="build.classpath.builddir"/>
    </clientgen>
    ============
    I am testing by putting a Thread.sleep(75000) in the method which is called in the internal EJB. But the method runs to completion and returns the reply object after 90 seconds or so (it normally takes about 12 seconds), but does not timeout.
    I've been told that because it is a web services client, the remote-client-timeout will be ineffective. I've also been told that because the EJBs run in the same JVM, the transaction-timeout will be ineffective. Is this so?
    Thanks,
    Walter

    Can you change the clientgen task to weblogic.wsee.tools.anttasks.ClientGenTask this is for jax-rpc 1.1.
    <taskdef name="clientgen"
    classname="weblogic.wsee.tools.anttasks.ClientGenTask" />
    ((Stub)port)._setProperty(weblogic.wsee.transport.connection.timeout,2);
    ((Stub)port)._setProperty(weblogic.wsee.transport.read.timeoutt,2);
    Hope that helps.

  • Web Service Client - SOAP/jms: Specific response queue (not default queue)?

    Hi @ll
    I try to define a specific jms response queue for a web service client that communicates SOAP/jms, running on a WLS 9.2. The web service itself runs also on a WLS 9.2 where also the request and response queues are located. By default the client receives the responses from a temporary response queue. Is there a way to define a specific response queue e.g. setting the JMSReplyTo property in the request on the client side?
    /cheers&greetz
    Dani

    WLS do not have a light SOAP client with callbacks yet. It is
    not a planed feature for 7.0, but we will considering this for
    post 7.0.

    Hi, guys:
    I have a system : client written in Java/Swing, HTTPS authentication,
    and then subscribes to a WLS 61. SP2 based JMS Topic and also has the
    ability to send message to a Queue, since I can not bring down the size of
    the client side WLS JMS dependency lib, I am thinking about using SOAP /
    web service as the communication tier between my client and server, so the
    question is: since the client need get the price updates in a real time
    mode, I need build a server side based PUSH for all the new price updates
    which come into the JMS Topic, and broadcast as SOAP messages to client,is
    this mean that I have to build the Call - Back for the Java Swing Client,so
    it can automatically get the new price updates as it's getting from JMS
    Topic now ? Any Idea on how to build server side PUSH based SOAP message
    center as web service ?? Thanks a lot.
    regards,
    mark
    FYI:
    I need the same PUSH service for my .NET based client as well.

  • Problem creating web service client using WSM Policies

    Hello everyone,
    I'm trying to make a simple java client to a Web Service secured using a WSM 11gR1 policy (from Soa Suite 11.1.1.2.0). The policy on the server side is oracle/wss11_x509_token_with_message_protection_service_policy which I attached via the Weblogic Admin Console. To implement the client I'm trying to follow the instructions from this documentation: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/e13713/owsm_appendix.htm#WSSOV386 section "Policy Configuration Overrides for the Web Service Client" and also I'm using OEPE 11.1.1.3.0 (Eclipse 3.5.0) to develop the client. The only weblogic jar I've added to the build path is the weblogic.jar . Unfortunately, the oracle.wsm.security.util.SecurityConstants.ClientConstants interface (used in the example A-6) is not included in this jar and I have no idea what other libraries should I include in order to follow the example. I tried manualy adding other jars but without success. In fact I found one jar which includes this interface, the wsm-secpol.jar but it does not have the properties described in the documentation, so I guess it's not the right jar, and also I don't think this is the right procedure since there might be another dependent jars. So I would like to know what libraries exactly I should add to the build path (or some other procedure if you noticed I'm doing anything wrong)
    Thank you !

    Hi
    I am having the same problem almost where i wrote a client to comsume a JWS server in https. Where the server is setup to require a certificate to connect to.
    My code:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    try {
    DataBaseSyncServerImpl port = new DataBaseSyncServerImplService().getDataBaseSyncServerImplPort();
    int number1 = 20;
    int number2 = 10;
    System.out.printf("Invoking divide method(%d, %d)\n", number1, number2);
    double result = port.divide(number1, number2);
    System.out.printf("The result of dividing %d and %d is %f.\n\n", number1, number2, result);
    when run this code throw
    run:
    [java] Invoking divide method(20, 10)
    [java] Exception in thread "main" javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: HTTP transport error: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshak
    eException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCert
    PathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target
    Does any one know how can I solve this problem or how can I make the client be able to use self signed certificates. Any help is greatly apprecited. Thanks
