Getting data from SQL database

Hi
I am stil trying to get some basic information stored in a database table on my SQL Server.
I can do this by embedding an Applescript do carry out the shell command 'curl' as below:
myFullScriptString = "do shell script \"curl -0  localhost/asset.php?asset_id="+assetID+"\"";
myForceError = app.doScript(myFullScriptString, ScriptLanguage.APPLESCRIPT_LANGUAGE);
return(myForceError);
but I dont want to be limited to OSX.
Is there a way this can be put into a native socket comment using a structure as below?
reply = "";
conn = new Socket();
conn.open("192.168.91.184:8888");
conn.write(" GET /myfile.php?" + variousVariable + " HTTP/1.0\n\n");
reply = conn.read(999999);
conn.close;
Cheers
Roy

Sigh...
I'm sorry, Roy, I really thought that the example in the JS Tools Guide told you how to seperate the actual response from the server's headers. But it doesn't!
Anyhow, RFC2616 tells us:
6 Response
   After receiving and interpreting a request message, a server responds
   with an HTTP response message.
       Response      = Status-Line               ; Section 6.1
                       *(( general-header        ; Section 4.5
                        | response-header        ; Section 6.2
                        | entity-header ) CRLF)  ; Section 7.1
                       CRLF
                       [ message-body ]          ; Section 7.2
So, that means the message body is seperated by two CRLF pairs. Except that because of API magic each CRLF turns into a single \n. So you want to look for \n\n.
So, you should be able to seperate it like this:
body = reply.substr(reply.indexOf("\n\n")+2);

  • Single query to get data from different databases

    i need to capture certain fields from certain tables in database 1 and certain fields from certain tables in database 2 into one file using a single SQL statement.
    i tried searching on the net
    i found that dblinks can help
    but iam not sure if ill be able to create dblinks in my situation which is:
    i need to get data from oracle to be copied to mysql
    this is not a replication acitivity, but i need certain fields from one database and certain from the other
    so what iwas thinking is, if i use an sql query to get all the fields (i need around 40) from the different oracle databases and create a singlefile with one insert per select, i can then read that file into mysql
    instead of creating multiple sql queries for each table and creating separate files and eventually separate tables in mysql.
    can anyone help me here?
    or maybe suggest another approach.
    thanks

    Hi,
    I think dblink is the only option available to get data from different databases. It will work for your case too.
    CREATE DATABASE LINK db_link CONNECT TO user_name IDENTIFIED BY  password USING 'instance_name'you must have the system privilege 'create database link' to create db links. This way you can get the required data and put it in a table in oracle. But i dont know how to put this data from oracle table to Mysql.

  • How can i  get data from anather database system  ????????

    Hi every body..
    I 've a problem .....
    I've an old program work on "DOS" and it's content database which content all Data that i need for that program
    The data file extension with ".FD" , ".VW" , ".LSS" & "SLP"
    I want to kow:-
    1) what is that database system
    2)What program could open or can get data from that database tables.
    3)can i do that with oracle...
    please describe every thing in details...
    ... Please replay quickly... urgently
    ...waiting your answer....

    You're probably better off consulting the documentation for the DOS program you're trying to deal with than hoping someone here will be able to guess what program you're using, identify the structure of the files, and tell you how to extract the data into something Oracle can import.

  • Get data from two databases?

    Hello all,
    Do anyone know if it's posible to get data from two databases while I'm running SBO in one of them? I need this because our client wants to be able to print reports with all the information stored in both companies. I searched this forum trying to find if this is possible but I did't find any information about this.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks and regards,
    Mariana Mazzero

    Hi Mariana,
    What you can do is use two company objects to retrieve the data. As far as I know you're not restricted to one company connection.
    You can also just use a standard read only connection (like ADO/ODBC) to retrieve the data for the reports.
    Hope it helps,
    Adele

  • Getting data from several database

    I have more that one DB in different locations, but all of them have a same structure. now i want to get data from all of the DBs in a unique time and simultaneously. how i can do it?

    If all the databases are Oracle then open your DBA Administration manual to Part VII Distributed Database Management.
    These chapters will tell you how to create database links and how to design and manage remote and distributed transactions.
    Also see the CREATE DATABASE LINK command in the SQL manual.
    Once you have reviewed this material you can post back with specific questions or error messages you encounter while configuring the feature.
    Basically you just need a tnsnames.ora entry on the database server for the remote database and then define a database link that references the tnsnames.ora entry. The documentation will show you the steps.

  • Database Toolkit: Reading data from SQL database

    Hello,
    I have been working on a automated test system storing data into a SQL server database.  Once you get your head wrapped around the toolkit and walk through some of the examples it is not too bad.  Writing to the database was very straight forward.  I simply put all of my data including the primary keys into a cluster and inserted the cluster into the specified table.  As I learned the hard way,  it is very important for all of your types to match up.  I saved double type from labview as decimal type in the SQL database, and long integer in labview as integer in the SQL database.
    For the the read VI, this is where my questions lie. After establishing a connection reference I used the "DB Tools Create Parameterized Query" VI combined with a SQL statement to find the recordset that I was looking for.  I used a standard SQL statement using the primary keys such as, "Select * From TableName Where Measurements = "%Measurements%" ".  This VI creates a command reference which I then passed to multiple "DB Tools Get Parameter Value" VIs.  I could not get this to work with the command reference.
    I then switched over to the "DB Tools Execute Query" inputting the same SQL statement I had used before.  THis VI passed a recordset reference, which I then passed to a "DB Tools Get Properties" VI to check if the database was empty or not.  I then passed the recordset reference to multiple "DB Tools Fetch Element Data"  VI's to read the data from the SQL database.  THis worked very well.
    therefore I am wondering:
    What is the difference between a command reference and a recordset reference in the Database connectivity toolkit?
    Why would one work and not the other?
    Is there ever a case when you would want to use one method over the other?
    I have asked my app guys and Labview training instructor different database type questions, and I not received a decent answer to date.
    Thanks,
    Jackson

    Hello,
    Can you pass the command reference to a single "DB Tools Get Parameter Value" VI?  What exactly do you mean when you say you couldn't get this to work with command references... can you post an error message or the results?  The documented difference is that they are different flavors of ADOs (activeX data objects), one is a command and the other is a recordset reference.  I know this does not draw a precise distinction, but I'd like to understand this problem fully so we can find one!
    Please repost with anything more you can give!

  • Getting data from SQL Server on a different server

    Before I dive into this, I want to make sure it's possible
    and relatively painless :)
    My Flex web app is hosted on one server (call it server01)
    which is the web server, and I have a SQL Server 2000 database on
    another server (server05), which is not a web server. In the Flex
    app, I'd like to populate a ComboBox using data from a table in SQL
    Server. Is this possible even though they are on different servers
    and server05 doesn't has web access? Thanks.

    I'm not using anything as of yet to accomplish this. It seems
    that using web services is the recommended method. Could you
    provide any information on setting up a web service, or resources?
    Thanks.

  • Getting Data From MySQL Database using Dreamweaver CS4 Built In Functions

    Hi,
    I am really in need of some help if you don't mind.
    I basically have a website with user regsitration system etc and so on.
    I basically connected to my Data Base in Dreamweaver CS4 and now want to use the tools in Dremweaver CS4 to display Data from database.
    Problem is i see the tools but not really sure how i use them. I see on Data bar all the tools to view, update delete records etc.
    I basically created a page where i want to display all the records in the DB. I done this using dynamic data selecting what fields to display etc and 15 records per page.
    When i view the page in localhost thou it is only showing 1 record althou i have like 5 users in my test db.
    So if anyone can really tell me how i go about displaying data from db that be great. When i learn how to do that i probably will understand and learn how to update records etc.
    Thanks

    To display all records, you need to apply a repeat region to the paragraph, div, or table row that contains the dynamic text objects for the database results. You might also find it helpful to follow the dynamic application tutorial in the Adobe Developer Connection.

  • Need to get data from multiple database instances in a single query

    Hi,
    I need a small favour from you guys. The prob is as follows:
    I need to get name, row_id from table A from schema 1 and gbu_name, name from table B from schema 2 where a.name = b.name. I wrote the query in the following manner:
    SELECT a.name, a.row_id, b.gbu_name
    FROM Schema1.A as a, Schema2.B as b
    Where a.name = b.name
    But this query is not working and the error is like " The table does not exists".
    Please update me how to avoid the error and get the right sort of result.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Debabrata

    Ah, youre actually asking different things.
    In your topic title, you say youre running separate instances
    In your body text, you say you are under different user/schema
    So tell me, do you have more than one database or not? How many entries in your TNS file?
    I would say, for "multiple database instances"
    SELECT
      a.id, b.id
    FROM
      tableA a
      INNER JOIN
      tableB@OTHER_DATABASE_LINK_NAME b  <--NOTE!
      USING(id)And of course you will have to look up CREATE PUBLIC DATABASE LINK sql..

  • Retrieve data from SQL database and put into a table

    Hi all, i encountered this error while trying to create a table in 1 of my panels:

    private static ResultSetTable model = new ResultSetTable();
    I understand that " cannot find symbol class ResultSetTable means that i need to import something which has this ResultSetTable. I suppose my imports are sufficient and i think the error is with the package that i included.
    This package was taken from an example in a book named java database programming bible, so i assumed it is reliable and i use it for my insert statement, which had a DataInserter.

  • Retreive External data from SQL making connection to SQL server take a long time

    I have an Excel pivottable based on a view from SQL server. The view gets data from 2 databases on the sames server. I have the sames login for both databases and also the same rights (datareader, datawriter and owner). When running the view from within
    the SQL Server management tool it goes quick. In Excel once the connection is made everything goes fast. Only making the connection takes a very long time. When I use a view with data from a single database then everything is fine and goes fast.
    Example of the situation: I use the example view below in an excel pivot. This gives as result that the connection takes very long.
    SQLServer A
    View CustomerInfo which contains the following query.
    Select * FROM databaseA.dbo.Customers as Customers
    CROSS APPLY
    SELECT *
    FROM databaseB.dbo.Contacts as Contacts
    Where Customers.Number = Contacts.CustomerNumber
    ) AS Contactdata
    When I remove the CROSS APPLY part, the connection is made directly
    We login to SQL with normal logon  (not windows security) The user has the same rights on both databases.
    I hope the problem is clear. Does anyone have an idea of how I can solve this problem?

    -1* ( prior dataid ) = parentid
    is it multiplying -1 times the prior dataid ?that's exactly what it's doing
    you need:
    prior dataid = ABS(parentid);
    not knowing you're data, and therefore assuming that dataid is always positive (since it doesn't have an ABS), and that parentid can be positive or negative, your criteria becomes
    parentid = prior dataid (handles both are positive)
    or parentid = negative of prior dataid (handles parentid is neg, dataid is pos)
    since the "prior" must be right next to the column (dataid), I put parens around the whole thing, and then mult by -1

    There is no other (supported) way to get data from Oracle Databases as SQL. No matter what third-party tool you use to access Oracle Databases, they all will use (embedded) SQL.
    In very rare cases, one must use tools to read from datafiles directly because the database got damaged and a proper recovery is impossible. That is an emergency solution and by no means a replacement for SQL access.
    In short: No :-)

    If that's so, you cannot do it by purely using EJBs, as an entity bean maps to a Table row in the database, which is not quite straight forward in terms of R/3.
    The only way to get data from R/3 is to use
    1)Java + SAP JCO
    2)or a Netweaver technology like Webdynpro + Adaptive RFC
    3)Portal Component + SAP JCO.
    Again, assuming you're dealing with a WebAS server, coming to EJBs, its no different to any other application server. So, you need an RDBMS to use Entity Beans.
    Please let me know if you've got more doubts.
    Regards,
    Rajit
