Getting Extra classes while creating Data Control in ADF
I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0.
I was trying to create a Data Control from a Java class (containing event handling code) right click on the java class -> Create data Control.
I can see many data controls were created in my work space when the operation was completed
Example: java.io.InputStream.xml, java.net.URI.xml and many more.
Anybody please suggest is it a problem in Jdeveloper tool or I need to perform any additional step to remove all these files.
Regards,
Rajesh
Hello TimoHahn,
I can see only the Data controls are getting generated (not the class files).
Please find the code snippet for my class for which I generated data controls:
public class ContexEvent {
public ContexEvent() {
super();
public void handleEvent(ActionEvent payload){
UIComponent component = payload.getComponent();
Map<String, Object> attrMap = component.getAttributes();
FacesContext context = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
ELContext elContext = context.getELContext();
Application application = context.getApplication();
ExpressionFactory factory = application.getExpressionFactory();
ValueExpression valueExpr = factory.createValueExpression(elContext, "#{backingBeanScope.NameBean}", Object.class);
NameBean nb=(NameBean)valueExpr.getValue(elContext);
//String newVal = (String)payload.getNewValue();
nb.setFirstName("Rajesh");
AdfFacesContext adfContext= AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
adfContext.addPartialTarget(nb.getNameLabel());

Exception while creating Data Control
Good day house,
I have been doing some research on using business components design in other IDEs with Oracle ADF faces within JDeveloper 11g.
I went through the following steps
create a Java EE web application - a model and viewcontroller project
imported my EJB project jar file - but I could not get an icon to show me the beans within my jar, so I imported the source instead
On importing the source, I right click on my bean classes and chose create Data control but it comes with an exception

Hence, I have two question
1. Can I create my data control from the bean interfaces instead of the bean?
2. Why the exception? Is it a problem with my JDeveloper installation?
3. Is it also possible to create a data control from any plain java object/interface.
thanks in advanceDid you create the weblogic domain with the Oracle Webcenter Spaces option selected? This should install the relevant libraries into the domain that you will need to deploy your application. My experience is based off WC 11.1.1.0. If you haven't, you can extend your domain by re-running the Domain Config Wizard again (WLS_HOME/common/bin/config.sh)

Issue while creating data control in webcenter .
Hi Alll ,
We are developing some application in web center and deploying it into the wc_custom .
We are able to deploy and test it throughly .
So far we are not using any data control in our application .
For integrating Content server , i am creating content sever connection and exposing it as a data control .
After creating this DC whenever i am triying to deploy the apps getting following exceptions .

Create data control from java class, not see "ADF Parameter Forms" option
Hi,
I have created a Fusion Web Application (ADF) in jdev 11g. In the application model project, I created a java class. Inside the java class, I have a public method as below
public Asset [] searchAsset3(SearchTerm s) // SearchTerm is a java bean. It implements java.io.Serializable.
I created data control from my java class. After that, I see an xml file generated under the same folder of my java class. Here is the xml content.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<JavaBean xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/beanmodel" version="11.1.1.53.62"
id="AIAAsset" Package="oracle.apps.aia.oer.model"
BeanClass="oracle.apps.aia.oer.model.AIAAsset" isJavaBased="true">
<MethodAccessor IsCollection="true"
Type="com.flashline.registry.openapi.entity.Asset"
BeanClass="com.flashline.registry.openapi.entity.Asset"
id="searchAsset" ReturnNodeName="Asset"
CollectionBeanClass="UpdateableCollection">
<ParameterInfo id="name" Type="java.lang.String" isStructured="false"/>
<ParameterInfo id="version" Type="java.lang.String" isStructured="false"/>
<ParameterInfo id="description" Type="java.lang.String"
isStructured="false"/>
</MethodAccessor>
<MethodAccessor IsCollection="true"
Type="com.flashline.registry.openapi.entity.AssetSummary"
BeanClass="com.flashline.registry.openapi.entity.AssetSummary"
id="searchAssetSummary" ReturnNodeName="AssetSummary"
CollectionBeanClass="UpdateableCollection">
<ParameterInfo id="name" Type="java.lang.String" isStructured="false"/>
<ParameterInfo id="version" Type="java.lang.String" isStructured="false"/>
<ParameterInfo id="description" Type="java.lang.String"
isStructured="false"/>
<ParameterInfo id="type" Type="java.lang.String" isStructured="false"/>
</MethodAccessor>
<MethodAccessor IsCollection="true"
Type="com.flashline.registry.openapi.entity.Asset"
BeanClass="com.flashline.registry.openapi.entity.Asset"
id="searchAsset3" ReturnNodeName="Asset"
CollectionBeanClass="UpdateableCollection">
<ParameterInfo id="s" Type="com.flashline.registry.openapi.query.SearchTerm"
isStructured="true"/>
</MethodAccessor>
<ConstructorMethod IsCollection="true"
Type="oracle.apps.aia.oer.model.AIAAsset"
BeanClass="oracle.apps.aia.oer.model.AIAAsset"
id="AIAAsset"/>
</JavaBean>
Then, in application user interface project, I created a JSPX page. From the data controls palette, I want to drag and drop the searchAsset3 onto my page. However, I don't see an option for me to choose "Create -> Parameters -> ADF Parameter Form". I only see "Create -> Methods". Unlike other public methods (e.g.searchAssetSummary and searchAsset) which have simple data type as input, I can see the "Create -> Parameters -> ADF Parameter Form" option when I drag and drop to my jspx page. Is that something I missed while creating data controls?
Thanks.
Arnold.Then, my other question is how do you do the bindings? I drag and drop the attributes from SearchTerm bean. Now the pagedef file has the AttributeValues added but my method is actually expecting one input parameter of type SearchTerm. How do you bind the attributes to the input of the method? Thanks.
See below of my pagedef xml file.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

Error while creating data warehouse tables.
Hi,
I am getting an error while creating data warehouse tables.
I am using OBIA 7.9.5.
The contents of the generate_clt log are as below.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Schema will be created from the following containers:
Oracle 11.5.10
Universal
Conflict(s) between containers:
Table Name : W_BOM_ITEM_FS
Column Name: INTEGRATION_ID.
The column properties that are different :[keyTypeCode]
Success!
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
There are two rows in the DAC repository schema for the column and the table.
The w_etl_table_col.KEY_TYPE_CD value for DW application is UNKNOWN and for the ORA_11i application it is NULL.
Could this be the cause of the issue? If yes, why could the values be different and how to resolve this?
If not, then what could be the problem?
Any responses will be appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Manoj.Strange. The OBIA 7.9.5 Installation and Configuration Guide says the following:
4.3.4.3 Create ODBC Database Connections
Note: You must use the Oracle Merant ODBC driver to create the ODBC connections. The Oracle Merant ODBC driver is installed by the Oracle Business Intelligence Applications installer. Therefore, you will need to create the ODBC connections after you have run the Oracle Business Intelligence Applications installer and have installed the DAC Client.
Several other users are getting the same message creating DW tables. -
Getting ORA-32700 while creating database
I am getting following error when creating the database :
ORA-32700 error occurred in DIAG Group Service
The error description is as follows :
Cause: An unexpected error occurred while performing a DIAG Group Service operation.
Action: Verify that the DIAG process is still active. Also, check the Oracle DIAG trace files for errors.
The setup is as follows :
Database : Oracle 9i Rel 2.
OS : IBM AIX 4.3.3
We are trying to create the database from sqlplus/dbca. It seems that in the database creation process it is throwing the error while it is trying to create the control files.

LISTENER_TSEDMDB2 =

We have IBM HACMP Cluster setup on 3 machines. This machine (prcsmbk1) on which I am getting the error while creating the database is part of that HACMP cluster. While installing the Oracle database software also it gave me a list of the 3 machines which are in HACMP cluster. We are not planning to setup RAC, but still it seems like while creating the database control files Oracle is trying to perform some group service operation.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.Thanks a lot for all your responses. We found the issue. The issue was that when we installed 9i we selected Enterprise option which installed RAC also. And after that when we were trying to create database Oracle was thinking that we are trying to create database in RAC env. and most likely it was trying to create/sync the control files on all the machines in the cluster.
The sequence of events were as below :
1. We have 8i installed on this machine
2. We installed 9i (9.2.0.1.0) using the same ORACLE_BASE but different ORACLE_HOME. We didn't select "Custom Install". We selected "Enterprise install" option
3. We installed new installer (2.2.0.18.0 ) and then 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0)
4. While creating the database (manually & through DBCA) we were getting ORA-32700
5. We tried to uninstall (using OUI 2.2.0.18.0) 9i (including the patch) completely but it never succeeded. We noticed that when we started uninstall it did show progress for about 20 minutes and after that it didn't show any progress. It was not taking any CPU cycles and It was not writing to the log file either. Basically we were never able to cleanly uninstall 9i. We tried almost 2 to 3 times.
6. Then we installed 9i using a new ORACLE_BASE and this time we selected "Custom Install" and we did not install RAC. This is successful
7. Then we installed new installer (2.2.0.18.0 ) and we tried to install the 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0) using this new installer but it never succeeded. Then we tried to install the 9i patch (9.2.0.4.0) using the old installer version (2.2.0.11.0) and it was also successful.
8. Then we tried to create database using DBCA and it was successful and then we dropped the database which was created using DBCA and then we created it manually through SQLPLUS and this was fine too.
So basically what we learned from this exercise is that if we are installing 9i on a machine which is part of a cluster and if we don't plan to setup RAC then we shouldn't install RAC and we should do a custom install. I wish there was a option in create database stmt to tell Oracle that though we are creating database on a machine which is part of a cluster environment but we don't intend to setup RAC.
And other thing which is still a mystery is that why does the uninstall never completes successfully. One question on this : We were using the installer version 2.2.0.18.0 to uninstall the 9i software. Do we need to use the older version (2.2.0.11.0) of the OUI? -
Is it possible to create data control from wsdl when complextype is used
Getting DCA-40015 error when trying to create a data control from WSDL file.
The error clearly says complextype is not supported . just trying to see if there are any workarounds . because creating data control will save time in developing user interface by dragging and dropping the the data control in jsf page. jdeveloper webservice tester is able to create user interface for me based on wsdl when i run it , trying to develop the user interface using jsf pages
oracle.adf.model.adapter.AdapterException: DCA-40015: Failed to create the structure for schema element "result". The complex type definition of the element is not supported.Hi,
I could reproduce what I did:
- created WebService from custom Pojo Model
- Made sure all entities implemented serializable
- In the WebServices Wizard, I created XML representations for my entities
- tested with OC4J WebServices tester
- Built ADF data control from WSDL file of deployed WebService
- Created dependency t project containing the POJO entities
- Selected result.xml of each method exposed in the WebService project
- In the structure window, selected "item" (result-->item)
- changed Bean class to my entity class name (absolute name)
This showed my entity in the DC palette

Please Help!
Thanks n regards,
Kapoorchand.Hi,
well that problem is a long time back -. I only have in mind that the date I had to transfer to the quesry was in a "strange" format. Have a lock into the documentation for the date field - your date field is not recognised as a date field from the quesry engine and so this fails - but unfortunately I have no idea at the moment how I fixed it last time - how I converted my date field......
Sorry, thast I can not give you the real point - but I will have a lock into the old code - hopefully I find it soon.

Video Furnace: Failed while creating player controls...
I need some help figuring out how to get Video Furnace to work on my computer. It had run very easily before; I was on campus, and I clicked on the icon, it came up, and played smoothly, but I can't get it to work any longer. It keeps saying: The Audio device is unavailable or busy. Playback will continue without audio. After that message, Another error message pops up saying: Error, Failed while creating player controls. Then the Instream quits.
I used my roommate's computer to access the video I was supposed to watch and ir worked fine on hers; she has the same exact computer as me, and I was in the same room, only a couple of feet away. I was thinking maybe I messed up my audio settings or soemthing? I don't know what to do. Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.Kumar
Instead of creating a player and a processor from one datasource you can use javax.media.control.FrameGrabbingControl to grab frames from the video stream. To do this you need the following code
* grabs a frame's buffer from the web cam / device
* @returns A frames buffer
public Buffer grabFrameBuffer ( )
if ( player != null )
FrameGrabbingControl fgc = (FrameGrabbingControl)player.getControl ( "javax.media.control.FrameGrabbingControl" );
if ( fgc != null )
return ( fgc.grabFrame() );
else
System.err.println ("Error : FrameGrabbingControl is null");
return ( null );
else
System.err.println ("Error : Player is null");
return ( null );
* grabs a frame's buffer, as an image, from the web cam / device
* @returns A frames buffer as an image
public Image grabFrameImage ( )
Buffer buffer = grabFrameBuffer();
if ( buffer != null )
// Convert it to an image
BufferToImage btoi = new BufferToImage ( (VideoFormat)buffer.getFormat() );
if ( btoi != null )
Image image = btoi.createImage ( buffer );
if ( image != null )
return ( image );
else
System.err.println ("Error : BufferToImage cannot convert buffer");
return ( null );
else
System.err.println ("Error : cannot create BufferToImage instance");
return ( null );
else
System.out.println ("Error : Buffer grabbed is null");
return ( null );
The first method takes frame grabbing control of your player which you have already created from the datasource of the camera and it grabs a frame, returns it as a buffer, then calls the second methos which converts the buffer to an image.
It is very straight forward and I was kicking myself when I figured you could do it this way - I had been weeks playing around with the player and processor from one datasource.
hope this helps! -
Hi all,
I'm using ADF + Toplink + Session EJB in jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.4 . After creating POJO files
(A little time ago, I have getting the error in thread : Null Pointer exception in ToplinkDataControlProvider but I have passed this error message) I tried to create xml file descriptions for POJO files. To do this, I have chosen "create data control" option but gotten the below error message in message window :
What can be the problem. I have controlled mapping file, there is no problem in mapping status also make and rebuild the model package there is no error message.

Create Data Control not showing in EJB Session Bean context menu
Hi All,
I've been studying the new Oracle Application Development Framework Tutorial for 10g Release 3 (10.1.3). When I get to page 2-16 (page 31 of the PDF doc) it says to create ADF Data Control. Specifically is says " In the Applications Navigator, right-click the SRPublicFacadeBean.java node and choose Create Data Control from the context menu."
But my context menu doesnt have the Create Data Control option. I double checked that I didn't miss a step in the tutorial. I'm sure it's something simple. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Is there another way to create the Data Control for an EJB Session Bean?
Thanks,
CaryI downloaded "jdevstudio1013.zip " and I still don't have this context menu?
What are the steps to correct this?
Thanks,
--Todd
Figured it out. I was having an extension issue and I had to turn off all of my extensions. Thus, turned on the ADF extension (duh!) and all was well.
