Getting HTTP 403/500 errors when accessing SharePoint 2010 pages

Hi,
I'm getting intermittent HTTP 403/500 errors when accessing SharePoint Foundation 2010 pages.
When it happens, any SharePoint pages I access I get a HTTP 403 error (example: /sites/test/default.aspx) . If I don't specify a page, I get a HTTP 500 error (example: /sites/test/). What's odd is that I have non-SharePoint .NET applications running on the
same server under the "_layouts" directory and those still work just fine.
After recycling the IIS application pool, it starts to work again, but sometime won't stay up very long.
Does anyone encounter this problem before?
TIA
Also, I'm hoping to understand what the "Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.GetFileAndMetaInfo" method does to help me track down this issue. If you have any info on what the above method is doing, I really appreciated.

  • Getting a "403 Forbidden" error when I login ..

Hi all ... Well yesterday I did a new installation of Oracle Express Edition 11g DB, which installed fine ... I then installed OC4J, and then finally installed APEX Listener 4.1 ...
Now, when I opened 127.0.0.1:8888/apex/listenerAdmin for the very first time .. I saw a page where I was to configure the connection .. At that point I was unable to get the 'Basic' connection working (I think the error was that the Listener was unable at connect to the database), and so I closed down that page ..
Now, one day later, when I open 127.0.0.1:8888/apex/listenerAdmin, I am asked for some login details ... I don't know what to put here to login .. In fact I have not successfully logged in here even once ..
However, some clues are as follows: Before installing APEX Listener, I defined some new roles and users from the OC4J web interface ... If I try logging in through any of these, I get the '403 Forbidden' error ... Otherwise, if I enter any other random login details, the same login box keeps popping up ..
So anyone know whats the problem here ? ... I suspect that no connect between APEX Listener and the Oracle DB is yet defined, which is why these problems are occuring ...
I tried 'undeploying' APEX listener from the OC4J web interface, and then again 'deploying' it, but the exact same thing is happening ..
Can anyone help me out here ?
    EDIT:
I assume maybe I'm supposed to use the APEX_PUBLIC_USER account, which I configured in oracle before installing APEX (as per intructions in Oracle installation guides), but even when I try logging in through APEX_PUBLIC_USER, my login details are not accepted ... Also, I AM able to login into Oracle Database using APEX_PUBLIC_USER, but not in APEX Listener ... And since unlike what I described above, when I enter my APEX_PUBLIC_USER login details, the same login prompt keeps reappearing, meaning the login is not recognised at all ...

    Hi,
Now, when I opened 127.0.0.1:8888/apex/listenerAdmin for the very first time .. I saw a page where I was to configure the connection .. At that point I was unable to get the 'Basic' connection working (I think the error was that the >Listener was unable at connect to the database), and so I closed down that page ..I think the page you actually opened was http://127.0.0.1:8888/apex/listenerConfigure . At least, this is the page for the initial configuration. You can call it again until you've configured the database successful for the first time.
Now, one day later, when I open 127.0.0.1:8888/apex/listenerAdmin, I am asked for some login details ... I don't know what to put here to login .. In fact I have not successfully logged in here even once ..The admin page needs the credentials you've configured on your OC4J.
However, some clues are as follows: Before installing APEX Listener, I defined some new roles and users from the OC4J web interface ... If I try logging in through any of these, I get the '403 Forbidden' error ...... which you seem to have done, but probably you've some typo in there. Please note that you have to use the exact role names as described in the installation manual. A common problem is that users don't care about case sensitivity... This would fit to the symptom: You have a correct username/password combination, so the basic authentication is done, but the user is not authorized to call listenerAdmin because he doesn't have the appropriate role.

  • Dtd-is-prohibited-error-when-accessing-sharepoint-2013-office365-list-but-not

I need to update some items in a list and previously done it through a console app and using the sharepoint.client.dll but for some reason it no longer works.
When I call the clientContext.ExecuteQuery() it throws this error:-
"For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the DtdProcessing property on XmlReaderSettings to Parse and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method."
I have googled this and seen others have had similar problems but changing DNS has not resolved this which did in their case.
I can probably create a sharepoint-hosted app to do it but just takes longer for such a simple update.
I have checked fiddler and can see it is requesting the FPUrl.xml and returning a 302 response.
    GET http://msoid.thesportsoffice.com/FPUrl.xml HTTP/1.1

Any ideas why this is starting to happen?
    Karl Diggle

    Hi D00gle,
DTD means document type declaration. Using DTD entity expansion, it is easy to make a very small XML data stream fully expand into a very large document.
It will run parser without source limit, so the system will tell you the data has a security issue.
To fix the issue, you can set like below in your code:
    XmlReaderSettings settings = new XmlReaderSettings();
    settings.ProhibitDtd = false;
Here is a thread about this issue for your reference:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13854068/dtd-prohibited-in-xml-document-exception

  • SOLVED: Getting an Input/Output error when accessing certain files

My system started failing a few days ago because of sudden Input/Output errors when trying to access certain files. It was running fine until various applications started crashing like for example Pidgin (in retrospect probably because of DBus crashing). I decided to reboot and now can't login anymore because the DBus module fails to load which in turn means that HAL doesn't load either and so I can't use my keyboard to login.
The error message I get from DBus is that it can't access the file /etc/dbus-1/system.d/org.freedesktop.PolicyKit.conf because of an Input/Output error. I tried to fix/see what was wrong using the arch livecd. Because I thought my problem had to do with a pacman update that had failed before I'd rebooted, I updated my system and I noticed that when pacman tried to access other files it came back with the same error message. The files seemed pretty random, one of them was fakeroot.conf and then several library files like libfaad (sorry this is kind of vague but I'm away from home right now and can't go online very often so I'm writing this from memory).
I'm guessing its a hard drive problem because checking the filesystem for errors came back with nothing. I was just wondering whether anyone had any other ideas before I go and reinstall. I'm going back home tomorrow so I'll be able to follow any advice/reinstall then.

    UPDATE
It seems to be fixed! The second run of e2fsck fixed some more issues and the files that were causing the problems earlier seemed to have bad inodes. Boots fine now and I can get into my system. I checked and I still have a reasonable amount of free space so I don't think that was the reason ... I have no idea how the filesystem got so corrupted out of nowhere.
A few things are different, for example, it asked me to unlock the keyring and I couldn't mount my external encrypted drive anymore and had to do it manually with cryptsetup. e2fsck made quite a few changes so I imagine it's due to that. Shouldn't be to hard to fix though.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Farm Account gets Access Denied error when accessing SharePoint Subsites after Account was deleted and recreated in Active Directory .

A SharePoint Domain Account(farm admin account) was deleted and recreated with the same absolute credentials in AD due to this i cannot navigate to certain sites, not even able to edit web parts and cant view site actions menu.
The account has full permissions across the site and is a site admin.
I have tried to import the old login to the new login
    stsadm -o migrateuser-oldlogin <domain\name>-newlogin <domain\name> [-ignoresidhistory]
But this did not help as it didnt resolve  the SID's issues.
I couldn't restore the deleted object(AD acc) too.
Is there a way that i can use to get this account to work again?
There option of creating a new domain accout and give it full permissions is not recommened by the client.
So i must find a to get this account to work again.
    Thank you in Advance.
    Calvin

    Hi,
I would have a look in Active Directory first. Because a new account can't have same IDs that an old one, your new account can't be used instead of the old one, even if login, password and group memberships seems to be set all the same.
If your forest functionnal level is 2008R2 or more, and if Active Directory Recycle bin has been enabled, you can probably restore the deleted account.
you can find the way to restore a deleted account here :
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd379509%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
If your forest is set to a previous functionnal level or the recycle bin is not enabled, you could give a chance to authoritative restore, as described here :
    https://technet.microsoft.com/fr-fr/library/cc816878(v=ws.10).aspx
    hope it helps

It was working fine until I rebooted my computer (it installed a Windows Update), I strongly suspect, based on some testing I've done, it is caused by http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2964358
When the *clientContext.ExecuteQuery()* statement is reached in *GetDocumentLibrary()*, the
    following exception is thrown.
*An unhandled exception of type 'System.Xml.XmlException' occurred in System.Xml.dll
Additional information: For security reasons DTD is prohibited in this XML document. To enable DTD processing set the DtdProcessing property on XmlReaderSettings to Parse and pass the settings into XmlReader.Create method.*
I'm wondering how I can work around this, as I'm not consciously using System.XML, it's a background function or process when the ExecuteQuery runs.
Can I pass some additional XMLReader info to this or clientContext (I'm assuming not), so I'm not sure how to execute this query to prevent the DTD error. I have also tried accessing the list in a different manner, by using this code... (from Microsoft's MSDN
    pages)
    List list = clientContext.Web.Lists.GetByTitle(libraryName);CamlQuery camlQuery = new CamlQuery();            camlQuery.ViewXml = "<View/>";ListItemCollection listItems = list.GetItems(camlQuery);clientContext.Load(list); clientContext.Load(listItems);clientContext.ExecuteQuery();
This works on a computer without the KB above, however on my PC it doesn't (I get the same exception as my other code) , obviously uninstalling the KB will make things work in the short term, but its no good in the longer term. Any advice on how to avoid
this error would be greatly appreciated.  I can only assume there will be a "preferred" way from Microsoft for accessing lists now this KB is implemented, but I'm clueless as to what it is.
    Thanks
    Dougie

I've found that the issue is related to certain ISP's providing a "search assistance" page when a request returns an error due to no DNS entry matching that URL.  For example, if you use Verizon in the USA, and go to www.somenonexistanturl.com, it will
"helpfully" respond to you with a search results page of possible options to match the URL you requested.
Because this is not the expected XML that the SP Client Context library was looking for (i.e., it does not have the DTD that it validates), the exception is thrown.  The offending request that I have seen in my case is to the following URL: http://msoid.[my
    office 365 acct name].onmicrosoft.com/FPUrl.xml
A simple resolution is to change your network connection adapter settings to use a DNS server IP other than the one auto-retrieved from your ISP, such as Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). It's not a long term fix, since you'd breaking the ability to resolve
internal resources from a private or corporate network (unless the private network is also setup with Google's IP for the DNS gateway).
While you may have not changed any of your code, I would bet that you changed how/where you access the internet from when it was working to when it stopped working.
What I am not entirely sure of is why did this start happening all of a sudden - was it a change from MSFT that broke the URL, or did the ISP(s) decide to become extra helpful with bad URLs?

You do not need to install Tomcat. SJSAS contains a web container. The error you are seeing could be caused by a few reasons. There are many previous threads on this issue, perhaps you could search the forum. I used the following search term, "Unable to compile class for JSP" ,and got many hits.

  • SP 2010 - Getting "An unexpected error has occurred. " message when accessing Sharepoint site after windows update - Windows 7 Home Premium

    Hi,
I am new to SP 2010. I have installed Share point 2010 server (trial version) on my Windows 7 Home Premium Laptop by following the below link.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869%28office.14%29.aspx
Everything went fine and was able to see the new sharepoint site after completing configuration wizard. SP2010 Central Admin also worked fine.
However, after windows update, sharepoint site is not working. I was able to see the site working for more than a day before windows update. SP2010 Central Admin is still working. Executed "PSCONFIG" after
    update but still no good.
I saw a warning "The Security Token Service is not available" in Central Admin and did some research to fix the issue but nothing worked.
    Hotfix
I believe I have all hotfixes mentioned in the forums. Here is the list.

I even tried to uninstall Sharepoint and re-install the same. It worked even second time until it went thro' windows update. App pools are running and Websites are up and running in IIS.
Can anyone please help me to fix this issue?

  • Forbidden/403 error when accessing OIF after install

    Hi,
I just installed OID+OVD+OIF on a Windows 2003 server. The Oracle database is on a separate machine.
For the OID+OVD+OIF installation, I installed WebLogic 10.3.3, then ran the OID+OVD+OIF installer, and was able to do that successfully.
I then rebooted (seems to be necessary), then ran startNodemanager.cmd, and then accessed the WL Console, and saw "wls_ods1" and "wls_oif1" servers.
I started both of those servers successfully.
When I go to http://<host>:7005/odsm, I get the ODS console.
    But, when I go to http://<host>:7499/fed, I get a 403/Forbidden error.
I've checked both the Adminserver log file and the wls_oif1 log file, and there are no errors there. Also, the access log file for the wls_oif1 server shows no accesses.
Is there some additional step I need to do to enable the OIF server?
    Thanks,
    Jim

You are using a wrong URL. Please use this:
    http://<fed_idp_host>:7499/fed/idp/initiatesso
    and / or
    http://<fed_sp_host>:7499/fed/sp/initiatesso
If you want to administer the OIF, then you have to use the em enterprise manager. USing the em, you can start the OIF, and use the above url.
    http://<fed_idp_host>:7001/em
    http://<fed_sp_host>:7001/em
The port 7001 is the default; if you hv selected anything else during the install, then use that port. The login is (default) weblogic and the password is whatever you gave during install.
Hope this helps. Let us know.

  • Exchange 2013 OWA HTTP 500 error when opening another mailbox

We have an Windows Server 2012 Exchange 2013 server with OWA.
All users can login fine, but when I open another mailbox with my Admin account, having enabled access to that user's mailbox, the URL redirects to /owa/auth/errorfe.aspx?httpCode=500 and shows:
    something went wrong
Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk
Google won't help me in this instance. Where in the eventlog are OWA events logged?

    Hello,
I am joining to the thread opener, however, we do not use exchange server. we are using the Cloud services through Microsoft and as far as I know, the version is 2013 wave 15 (again, through Microsoft's cloud).
when I open the outlook, I can see the shared mailbox just fine.
when I open the office web access, and I search the mailbox through the 'add another mailbox..' It finds it however when I press the add button I get the HTTP 500 error.
when I tried to open a different mailbox (another shared mailbox I gave myself permissions for), it opens just fine.
it seems (from what I can tell) it is this specific shared mailbox that I cannot open through OWA while others I can.
when I try to open the mailbox in question through a different internet browser (Chrome) I get this Error:
NegotiateSecurityContext failed with for host 'db3pr04mb138.eurprd04.prod.outlook.com' with status'LogonDenied'
the error seems to be persistent on this specific mailbox only regardless to what browser I am trying to access with.
I can only assume that the solutions you (Winnie) offered isn't relevant in my case.
thanks in advance for any attempt to help me with this issue.

  • Getting 500 Error when calling XI from Siebel

    Hi,
We have generated a WSDL file from XI and gave it to Siebel team. They are getting a 500 Error when they try to call us using that WSDL file. Below is the error message they are getting.
"[1] Error Invoking service 'MI_SIEBEL_WS_ORDER_TOXI_OUT', method 'MI_SIEBEL_WS_ORDER_TOXI_OUT' at step 'Call Web Service'. (SBL-BPR-00162).

    Hi,
Are you sure your Sender SOAP adapter is configured properly. Also ensure that the SIEBEL team is using the right URL to communicate to the SOAP adapter.
First try using SOAP Client and see if the scenario is working fine. If so then the problem lies in SIEBEL.
Check this link for confiuring SOAP sender

I keep getting script errors when accessing Amazon Seller merchant pages. I get the following A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete. Script: chrome://spautofill/content/spOverlay.js:150, I also get js210 as well. I have cleared all cookies and history and unistalled Firefaox and reinstalled. Been thru my AVS and set the site as trusted in every possible place. Still get the problem. Do not get it with IE on same PC.
== URL of affected sites ==
    https://sellercentral.amazon.co.uk

Same problem but with a different vendor site:
    https://www.webvitamins.com/myfavorites.aspx
Not only does the page hang, but the other tabs also hang.
I contacted the vendor and their reply was "we were told that this looks like a script that is used by "Sticky Password", third-party software that must have been installed on your browser. However, our website did not install it and does not have anything to do with it." As far as I can tell, "Sticky Password" is not installed on my Firefox.
Same problem as above occurs, but with IE 8.0.6001.18702. Therefore, it is not unique to Firefox.
CAUSE DETERMINED: Have determined that this problem only occurs when Kaspersky Password Manager is installed. In Firefox, if the "Password Manager Autofill Engine" add-on is disabled, the problem goes away.
