Getting parameters from a frame (JSP)
Hi all,
I am trying to retrieve the url in the adress bar, from within a frame.
Lets say I have three JSP files, FRAME.JSP includes TOP.JSP and MAIN.JSP. if I call the method request.getParameter('toto'); from within MAIN.JSP I am only looking in the URL of MAIN.JSP and not in what I want, being the URL of FRAME.JSP.
Does any of you have an idea on how I could get the url or a parameter of the FRAME.JSP page?
Thanx in advance,
Marc
Could You maybe show some code, especially from FRAME.JSP?

<%@ page import="java.io.FileWriter,java.io.IOException" %>
<%
.//upload the file
String email = request.getParameter("signinName").trim(); //this line is bringing me an NullPointerException
%>Thanks in advance for any suggestion!!
All the best!You cannot use the HttpServletRequest object to retrieve parameters from a multipart form. You'll have to use a package that can parse such a form. I suggest Apache commons FileUpload.
http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/fileupload/
Using this package you can get both the file upload and any other parameters. -
How to set the HOME link from two frame jsp page to no frame main page?
Hi all,
i have one main jsp page named as main.jsp.
From the main.jsp, i can click the button and link to the twoFrame.jsp.
This twoFrame.jsp have another two different jsp inside the frame called Aframe.jsp and Bframe.jsp.
i try to put HOME in the Aframe.jsp(one of the page inside twoFrame.jsp) but only the Aframe.jsp manage to link to main.jsp but the Bframe still there.
My question is: How to set the HOME link button from this twoFrame.jsp to the main.jsp? what i want is from twoFrame.jsp(two frame) to main.jsp(no frame).
rgds,
Bryan523No offense, but this is basic HTML. You shuold look into learning HTML before getting too deep into JSP. Try this: http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp
But as a more specific answer, you have to set a target for the link to the _parent of your frame:
<a href="main.jsp" target="_parent">Home</a> -
How do i pass parameters from j2me to jsp?plz help
hi everyone...

String url="http://localhost:8080/example/test.jsp?name=abc";
i need this info urgently as i am not able to proceed with my project... plz help
any suggestions or references would be appreciated...
thank u...

RinziJHD
hi.
you have written in URL i sperfectly right but if this is also not complete one.
i.e url = "http://localhost:8080/dir/xxx.jsp?userName=jasmit&password=vala"
now when u establishing connection i.e
HttpConnection con = (HttpConnection) Connector.open(url,3);
this will work as an declaration but if u want to send that parameter for that you have to get response from the server and that time only original connection is going to establish i.e
when u r writting
int responseCode = con.getResponseCode();
if(reponseCode == 200)
then ur parameter were passed to jsp page.
in jsp page u have to get parameter using request class
String userName = request.getParameter("userName").toString();
String password = request.getParameter("password").toString();
i hope this might solve ur problem.

Jasmit vala

Getting parameters from multipart request
I'm using org.apache.tomcat.utils.fileupload to parse uploaded files from a multipart form, but unfortunately I can't seem to get normal parameters from such a form with request.getParameter(). Is there a way to use both together?
You might already have solved your problem, but you may find this MultipartFilter useful too: http://balusc.blogspot.com/2007/11/multipartfilter.html
It automatically detects multipart/form-data requests and sets the plain vanilla form parameters back in the ParameterMap of the HttpServletRequest and sets the files as attributes of the HttpServletRequest. This way there is no need to worry about the form encoding type inside the servlet. -
Passing parameters from a frame to another frame
Hello All,
I have a BSP page with 2 frames : header.htm and planning.htm
<frameset rows="150,*" frameborder="0" border="0">
<htmlb:documentBody >
<frame style="border-right-style:solid;border-color:#333333;border-width:1px" src="header.htm" id="header" name="header" scrolling="no" noresize frameborder="no">
<frameset frameborder="0">
<frame style="border-right-style:solid;border-color:#A5B1BF;border-width:1px" src="planning.htm" id="planning" name="planning" scrolling ="yes">
</frameset>
</htmlb:documentBody>
</frameset>
1. I want to send parameters from header.htm to planning.htm when a button CREATE in header.htm is pushed.
2. I also want to execute the code in OnInputProcessing of planning.htm at the same time (when the button in header.htm is push).
Can someone help me please? I read many pots but i wasn't able to find a solution to my problem. I also have a look to HTMLB_SAMPLES, and SBSPEXT_HTMLB, but i didn't understand well.
Thank youHi,
if I were you I´d better work with views and controller classes instead of pages with logic. In this way you don´t have to send parameters from page 1 to page 2 and you don´t have to trigger an event so that page 2 is called and method OnInputProcessing is executed.
Change the type of your pages to views, create the controllers for each and the controller class(es) behind it. If your development is very complex I´d create a model class, so that variables and common method are available to all controller classes and pages.
You have the advantage that you don´t have to hang parameters into the URL, which then must be read by page 2 when somebody presses button X in page 1. This method could be insecure, because it is easy to ready parameters from the URL by a hacker. Additionally, how do you expect to trigger an event in page 2 when the event really happens in page 1 ?? -
How to run a project which gets parameters from a batch file
Hello all,
I use to run a program, which gets parameters only by interactive mode, using a batch file as you can see below:
# myprogram < batchfile.txt
Now, I'm updating its code by SunStudioExpress IDE and I'd like to run it from the batchfile. I have noticed that the project properties window has the option run -> arguments, however this program doesn't accept arguments this way and for changing it, I'd have a hard job.
Does someone know how to run this project and to get its parameters from batchfile?
Regards,
GlauberAh, it appears that when you run the project, "<" is passed as one of the arguments and is not treated as input redirection.
Sorry, it looks like it is not possible to do the redirection; and it looks like a bug to me. Could you please file it through bugs.sun.com? It shouldn't take long as the problem is evident now. -
How to pass GET parameters from BPEL to webservice?
Hi,
How can I pass GET parameters to webservice from BPEL. For example if a webservice expects to get 2 parameters as GET parameters like the following URL:
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/some-web-service?parama=abc¶mb=123
How can I pass parama and paramb to the webservice call?
Thanks,
RonenHello Ronen,
Im assuming that you're using SOA Suite 11g. The developer guide describes the following: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E29505_01/dev.1111/e10224/sca_bindingcomps.htm#CHDEEGDC
And the following blogpost explains in detail how to implement https://blogs.oracle.com/reynolds/entry/oracle_http_adapter
Good luck!

How to get variable from javascript to jsp
Hi,
I put a JSP page but in one frame it has a JAVAScript running. The Javascript is a viewer that user can input bounding coordinate and see updated results. Once user input the bounding coordinate in the javascript, I would like to make
that variable available to the entire JSP, so I can submit all query (include the parameter user input in the JSP form) from jsp at a time. How to do this?
Thanks
KennyHi,
Okey here is the code. There are three frames.
1. KennyFrame.htm
2. MapFrame.htm
3. kenny.jsp
Once you run the "KennyFrame.htm" it will show a page
with two top-bottom frames. The top is
"MapFrame.htm".
The bottom is "kenny.jsp"
Once user input something on MapFrame.htm, it will do
a process in Javascript then update the "new answer".
I will need to put that "new answer" into the "What's
mapFrame Input? " Text box. Therefore, when user click
on submit on kenny.jsp frame. The "new answer" will be
submitted.
Code:
MapFrame.htm (the main page)
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" text="#000000">
Newmapframe
<center>
<form name=form>
<input type=text name=box value="type in here!">
<input type=button value="Convert"
onClick="javascript:changeCase(this.form.box)">
</form>
</center>
</body>
</html>
MapFrame.htm (the code with javascript on top frame)
<html>
<head>
<title>Map Frame Document</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
charset=iso-8859-1">
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
<!-- Begin
function changeCase(frmObj) {
var tmpStr;
tmpStr = "Some answer!";
frmObj.value = tmpStr;
// End -->
</script>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#FFFFFF" text="#000000">
Newmapframe
<center>
<form name=form>
<input type=text name=box value="type in here!">
<input type=button value="Convert"
onClick="javascript:changeCase(this.form.box)">
</form>
</center>
</body>
</html>
kenny.jsp (jsp on bottom frame for final submit)
<html>
<head><title>Number Test</title></head>
<body bgcolor="white">
<font size=4>
<form method=get>
What's mapFrame Input? <input type=text name=guess>
<input type=submit value="Submit">
</form>
</font>
</body>
</html>
let us the say the name of the frame in which kenny.jsp is placed be 'kennyframe' and u change the javascript function 'changeCase()' in MapFrame.htm to below:
function changeCase(frmObj)
var tmpStr;
tmpStr = "Some answer!";
frmObj.value = tmpStr;
parent.frames["kennyframe"].document.form.guess.value = frmObj.value; -
Getting parameters from URL: use of Special Chars
I'm unable to retrieve the Special Chars from URL parameters. Does someone have an idea where to look for?
Examples where no Special Chars is retrieved :
...App?param=Aménagement
...App?param=Am<é>nagement
...App?param=Am%E9nagement
I'm using this code :
IWDProtocolAdapter protocolAdapter =
WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter();
IWDRequest request = protocolAdapter.getRequestObject();
String param = request.getParameter("param");
Thanks!okay, So if I use :
...App?param=Am%E9+nagement
How would you then integrate URLDecoder.decode in the following code?
IWDProtocolAdapter protocolAdapter =
WDProtocolAdapter.getProtocolAdapter();
IWDRequest request = protocolAdapter.getRequestObject();
String param = request.getParameter("param"); -

All the best!You can get the parameter value directly. You can do the following to get the parameter name.
Directly take the request's input stream and parse the header and findout the value for text field.
Or you can use apache's file upload utilities and do the following
DiskFileItemFactory factory = new DiskFileItemFactory();
ServletFileUpload upload = new ServletFileUpload(factory);
List fileItems = upload.parseRequest(request);
Iterator iter = fileItems.iterator();
while (iter.hasNext()) {
FileItem item = (FileItem) iter.next();
if (item.isFormField()) {
//Form data fields will be displayed here out.println(item.getFieldName());
out.println(item.getString());
All the best.. -
