Getting started...........a small project(URGENT)

my question is like ths:
Writen an applet to Resistor.java to calculate the set of resistor value based on different range of voltages.you may required to use loop statement in this applet.
You should use layout manager,graphical components.you should also call a method calResistor() to calculate the resistor value of simple circuit
GUI
Enter Current value textfield
Enter first voltage value textfield
Enter final voltage value textfield
Enter uncremental voltage value textfield
Compute(button)
Voltage resistor
20 .67
60 2
100 4

This wouldn't happen to be a school assignment, by any chance?

  • Shortest path to get started with JSF project

    Hello,
    I am looking for a path of least resistance (or effort) to get started with JSF. This is really an add to the "JSP due diligence" thread that I started but with a specific question. At this time, I am primarily interested in implementing an MVC framework. The components of JSF seem interesting and I think will be valuable to us, but it would be too much to bite off at this time. So, could I implement JSF with my JSP pages (with code to use the backing beans but my own html components) and then later add JSF components as the next step? Perhaps this is non sensical but appreciate you saying that so I know how much effort is involved.
    Thanks!
    Priya

    Trying to use JSF without the JSF components sounds like it would be harder. Much of the benefit of JSF is the binding of bean properties to component values.

  • Starting a small project - need DB layer advice - Toplink?  Others?

    I'm about to undertake a small personal development project to build a web application primarily to expose data and make it searchable (I can add functionality to add new records via the web later and simply use MySQL to do my data maintenance for the time being).
    I used to build enterprise web apps for a living and I'm familiar with the Struts framework for the MVC and the Toplink APIs (from several releases ago) for the data layer and OR mapping. I figured I'd use Struts for my project becase it's what I know. My main question centers around the choice of a data layer interface, and one that can do OR mapping and generate the requisite backend code. I don't feel like writing the code from scratch as I'm sure there are may utilities like TopLink that will make it easy for me. Maybe even EJBs are the way to go. I've been away from Java for awhile and just don't know what my options are. I really just want to retrieve data and at some point be able to add new data and edit existing data via the web as well. It's quite straightforward really.
    As for the database (MySQL), it's not too complex. It's several tables which are pretty much all related via foreign keys. I do have some intersection tables (the type that are n to n) - I'm sure my terminology is incorrect. The queries I hope to run would involve multiple joins so a mapping tool which can handle such joins with simplicity and grace is much desired.
    Please give me any suggestions as to current technology, best practices, etc, etc. and I'll start scouring the web to learn more about your recommendations. Thanks in advance.

  • Starting New Project, Need to Cleanly get rid of old project.

    I am about to finish up a project today, that I've been working on. I want to clear out my computer of any data/file/etc. so that when I start my new project, I will be starting fresh. What can I do to make sure this happens without trashing anything I'm not supposed to? Avoid fragmenting? Basically want to ensure I am starting with a clean slate for my upcoming project. Any insight would be appreciated!!!
    My configuration is as follows:
    I edit in HDV on a PowerMac G5 dual 2.7, 2G RAM (about to install 2 more G's), 2x250 GB internal hard drives. One hard drive store OS & Apps, the other is my scratch disk. If you need further info, I will be more than happy to give it. Thank you so much in advance!

    Most of the time when you 'erase' a file or a disk, it simply changes the first few charactors in the heading without doing anything to the rest of the information. The file system does not recognize the file/directory anymore but most of the information is still there. This is what file recovery software relies on to pull your files back from the grave.
    "Zeroing" a drive is to write an unrelenting sequence of zeros - which in effect - completely erases everything on the drive. However, there is some magnetic residue left that bad bad people can use to discover all the 'adult' sites you have been visiting and storing material from should they get their hands on your drive. Writing 7 or 32 sequences of zeros is one way to totally erase a disk beyond reclamation.
    In the case of acceptable use, a simple erase is all you need. Do you have something to hide? lol

  • Download a Project file for Visual Studio regarding the Kinect for Windows v2? Getting Started with Kinect Development in Visual Studio

    I am currently trying to make an application for Kinect for Windows v2 but I am entirely new to Visual Studio and Kinect development and could use some help getting started. I honestly have no idea where or how to start and I figured the easiest thing would
    be to obtain a simple project file and examine how it works myself, but I have been unable to find one. The easiest thing would be if I could obtain a project file for Visual Studio that is an application which overlays the Skeletal model over people in real
    time, though similar project files would also be appreciated. The app I am making largely involves things similar to overlaying the skeletal model on bodies so this would get me off to a great start and show me how the code is laid out within visual studio
    simultaneously. (I would prefer the code to be in C# if that is possible but other languages also work).
    I have checked out some of the guides for kinect development but they all assume you know how visual studio works so I cannot get very far in them. Thus if you know of a good guide to get me started with visual stuido AND the Kinect then I would be glad
    to here that as well.
    Alternatively, and I know this is not the right place for this, I have Matlab, which I know works for the Kinect v1 but can't find support for it regarding the v2, so if you could point me in the right direction on how to get it to work with the Kinect v2
    THAT would also work incredibly well as I am much more familiar with Matlab.
    I already have Visual Studio Ultimate 2013 installed, as well as the Kinect SDKv2.0, the physical Kinect for Windows v2, and my laptop meets all of the requirements for development so those are not issues.
    Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!

    Thank you for posting in MSND forum.
    Since this forum is discuss: Visual Studio WPF/SL Designer, Visual Studio Guidance Automation Toolkit, Developer Documentation and Help System, and Visual Studio Editor. About your issue, I think that it is
    more related to the Kinect for Windows v2, so I suggest you can post this issue directly to Kinect for Windows v2 SDK forum:https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=kinectv2sdk
    ,maybe you will get better support.
    In addition, I find a similar thread about your issue, maybe you will get some useful message.

  • Getting started with cloud as a small business

    I am a small business and will have approximately 5 people using different part of CS6 cloud - I have just read through your info but am still a bit confused.  Am I able to purchase the monthly subscription and have all 5 people start using or are there other official channels to be followed.  I suppose I want to know how difficult is it to get started.

    Thanks John.
    Each person is required to have their own Individual subscription or one Seat on a Team subscription.
    The Team subscription allows an Administrator to handle all payment and then give out paid Seats. If a person leave the company just remove their seat and their account reverts to a Free subscription.
    If you use Individual subscriptions then each person handles their own payment, however that is done at your company.

  • SEEKING IDEAS FOR A SMALL PROJECT

    I am planning to do a small project in JAVA programming this winter to hone my JAVA skills but I can't seem to set my eyes on anything.
    please recommend a few good projects along with their descriptions.
    It should also have some practical aspect.

    Or a solitaire, you know, that balls-in-holes thing.:) What kind of solitaire have you been playing?? :D
    @OP:
    A small project I sugest is something you can learn much on some technology out there. At the end you need to know these technologies to get (a better) job.
    Some cool technologies I have seen out there at the moment are Hibernate, Struts, Spring, etc. But trying to learn these technolgies does not mean you have to make somethng that makes sense in the end of the day, but just something to learn how thing work ... in short something to play with.
    Further and cooler technologies out there (not hard to say) involve no codeing at all. Take Ant, Cruise Control, Maivem, etc. This are all technologies that will teach you how to set up a project, and believe me you could be needing those when coming to work somwhere.
    Also very intristing to play with there are JUnit, JMeter (NFR Testing). I Guess you heared about the first one, the other one I only got to know recently, and believe me it is very noce to know how to work.
    In short my above comments mean do not just start doing a project right forward unless you still do not know anything on J2SE, in which case again I would sugest for you to create your own set of example on IO, Sockets, RMI, Swing, etc. But learn technologies. No one cares to see in your CV, "I did a personal project that does so and so" unless the so and so is something realted with NASA. But everyone is interested in having someone that say "I know this technology and the other"
    However, if you decide to ignore all the above of my comments and still want to do your own project, then my sugestion is at least read UML, and build a class diagram first. At least you would learn something on program design as well.

  • Some Help to get started needed for a newbie

    I am attempting to add some simple email functionality to a small utility
    program I am writing in Delphi for my school. We have used Groupwise for
    many years and I have programmed a bit in Delphi but mainly database work.
    Can anyone tell me where to find some documentation that will help me to
    get started in using the GW Tokens API with Delphi?
    How do I install it?
    Do I need a Type Library for it to use it effectively with Delphi?
    Is there some sort of basic skeleton code that I can refer to?
    I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone might offer here.

  • Getting started with Robohelp

    Hi everyone,
    I'm brand new to Robohelp.
    We've got several pieces of software that are used for
    interacting with different models of standalone data recorders.
    We've developed a communications package for the newest model and
    it now needs online documentation. Our older recorder has a rather
    nice .hlp file system, and since the software packages are quite
    similar, it seems that adapting this .HLP file to the new software
    should be the easiest way to maintain continuity in the software.
    Unfortunately most of the windows are slightly different from one
    another, and in many cases there are features that are supported in
    one system but not the other.
    After viewing the project, and seeing three hundred pages of
    help topics in the existing file, plus a hundred or so graphics,
    not to mention all the hot spots that one can click upon, I feel
    like I'm standing at the base of mount Everest, looking at the
    pinnacle with no rope in hand!
    Where should I start, and is there a tutorial with a smaller
    project which could help me at least get the basics of how to
    create the requisite buttons, topics, books, etcetera ?
    I've got the 30 day evaluation version going but I'm approved
    to buy the upgrade to Robohelp 6. We've used Robohelp here in the
    office before, I think it's Robohelp Office purchased circa 1998.

    Hi Dan and welcome to our community!
    I'm not sure about RoboHelp 6, but it would surprise me if it
    didn't have what I'm about to suggest. I recall trying to come to
    terms with RoboHelp HTML and I found that between the forums here
    and the Tutorials that ship with RoboHelp (Help > Video
    Tutorials or Help > Tutorial) I was up and running in no time at
    all.
    When you have spare moments, check out fellow Adobe Community
    Expert Peter Grainge's site (

    own site (

    a wealth of other tips and whatnot.
    Give us a shout when you get stuck with anything. We are
    always happy to help if we can.

  • Advice:  Getting started in the digital editing

    What advice would you give someone with very limited experience, who wants to get started as an (paid) editor? (Other than don't do it.)
    My budget is $14K.
    What equipment?
    Groups?

    Go crazy searching the internet for tutorials, advice, sample videos, etc. You can find tons of free stuff. Look at websites dedicated to DV editors, and see what it's about.
    Find someone you know who is a DV editor, or search for one through your contacts. Ask them about what they do and if they think it's right for you. They may be wrong, but it's a good start to see what people think.
    Also, start editing some video with what you have. Work a little in iMovie for now, even though it's nothing like the "real thing," it's a great place to start toying around.
    I would definitely start with Final Cut Express. You can't do almost everything you will need to do for a long time using just that, especially if you're testing the waters. Do you really want to spend 14K and found out that you don't really like doing it? It's worth spending the cash on FCE right now, even if you end up moving up to Final Cut Studio. Why? Cause it could save you over $13,000 of wasted money if you aren't sure you want to do it!
    Do you have a camera? If not, find a good MiniDV cam (avoid hard drives, and DVD camcorders are a joke). I recommend the Canon HV20 for an amateur who wants decent quality. What's your computer like? Buying a Mac Pro can be expensive, but for starts you should be able to do the majority of all necessary editing on an iMac, unless you're a true "professional." I imagine by that time, you'll have earned some spare cash to buy a Mac Pro, and then you have the luxury of using two computers. You can have your Mac Pro chugging away at rendering while you do other things on your iMac, like edit smaller projects. Imagine how nice it'd be to be able to leave your big machine going on a serious project, and then work on small projects for friends/family on your iMac.
    Also, decide what you're looking for in terms of a job. Getting a position as a professional working for a company isn't easy, because every employer wants the same thing: highly skilled, proof of training (education), lots of experience on the job, etc. How the heck do you get that experience without first being hired, when everyone who hires wants you to have the experience first? Yeah, that's a big complaint for people getting out of college looking for jobs. Basically, you gotta do stuff for free or next-to-nothing for people to get a foot in the door. You can also do private jobs, like weddings, graduations, parties, etc.
    Speaking of which, is that what you'd like? Your own private videography company? If so, you have to know a lot about running a business, including people skills. Slow starts are the norm, and years of "is this really worth it?" are not unusual. Also, lots of family/friends asking for favors. "Can you do my wedding, we can pay you the $10 for the tapes, and then give you $50 for your time." Your family and friends won't realize how expensive and exhausting video work is! One camera alone can easily cost over $2000, and they think that their $50 or $100 is worth it for you? That's how you start, but you can't survive doing that.
    BTW, expect the problem that many encounter: after doing free work for a while, you'll be called on again and again by those people to do another free or nearly-free job. You'll have to just be firm (and polite) about the fact that you've stepped up a level, and now because of your experience and professional quality, you rightfully deserve much more for your services. If they can't understand that, ask them to perform their job for you for free, and then tell them that you have to encounter that several times a month, devouring hours of time that would have been paid jobs.
    Video work is kind of like acting: a lot of people get into it because they want to be like the big guys, but they never make it. Lots of years at acting schools and lots of auditions later, many wannabe-actors and actresses are working as waitresses and department store clerks because it just didn't work out. Also, a lot of video editing jobs are pretty gosh-darn-boring. Honestly, my friend who graduated with an degree in broadcast communication ended up interning at a popular company that was well-known in his circle, and although he made money, and there was nothing horrible about it, he said it was just plain "blah." He spent most of his time just trimming up and cleaning up clips for use in documentaries, educational material, and advertising. The complete lack of any sense of connection with the material made it a very labor-intensive task. At least working privately, you are using your own footage and feel a sense of connection with the events you taped.
    Consider it well before investing a lot of money. My advice: grab a Canon HV20 and purchase Final Cut Express, and use primarily the web, a good book, and maybe a few tutorial DVDs to teach yourself for a couple months. Make some videos between 10-30 minutes long, and if you love it, start diving in deeper. Take some classes, get Final Cut Studio, and explore more of your options.

  • Where can I find a beginners' step-by-step to help me get started?

    I've tried reading through the entire manual... it won't help me.
    Ergh.. I'm more of a visual learner, and I'd like just a small project to do to make me more familiar with final cut express 2.

    As others have said above, Tom Wolsky's book is by far the best, however FCE for Dummies is a very good book for just getting started. Even after several years of using FCE I still refer to my Dummies book for a quick how-to and then to Tom's book for a more in-depth how-to, why, and even better way.
    There are on-line tutorials but they will cost as much or more than the book.

  • Super Mario Clone ... Getting Started

    Hi
    I am new to java.
    That is I had 3 lessons so far.
    - I know what Swing is and can make swing windows, ...
    - I have a big C# background
    For a schoolproject I will make a Super Mario game clone.
    I do not have the time to use special classes like Direct Draw, OpenGL, ... The project needs to be finished within about 2-3 weeks
    I have not started yet and I am allready stuck with 4 questions.
    My vision:
    I need a level: small images in a kind of table.?!
    and
    I need a player class:
    public class Player extends ?...? {
       public Player(){
          ...loadimages in array;
       left {
          ...change the position in the frame that contains this object;
          ... change image;
          ... change it back;
      right{
       jump{
       crough{
    }Note that the Player visual object needs to move on top of the level ...
    So here are my 4 questions:
    (1) What class should I extend with my Player class. Should I extend the JPanel class?
    (2) What is the best way to load my images. (depends on the answer of question 1 I guess)
    (3) How do I change the position of a class in the containing class.
    (4) What about my level images ... is there a kind of table class in Swing ?
    Can anybody give me a clear answer on my questions ?
    (please do not post codelistings of more than 50 lines ^^.)
    Thank you in advance

  • Is there a way of working collaboratively on a flex project with a small project group?

    Is there a way of working collaboratively on a flex project with a small project group?
    I am part of a small group of developers who wish to work on a single flex project together. Is there a way to set up flex so that the project can be developed by multiple people at the same time. I have seen one thread out on the internet about working locally and then uploading to SVn but this is not an option in this case.
    Any ideas.
    Many thanks in advance
    Dave

    I would say that rushing into development without a source-control system will cost you more in the long-run. If your organisation is serious about developing software it then it needs to invest in the necesary infrastructure, so you should get that process kicked-off as soon as possible.
    In the interim you could set-up a source control server on one developer's machine or commandeer a spare machine to use as a temporary source control server. Just make sure you have it backed-up regularly. Or you could use one of the online source control services; many will support private repositories for a small fee.

    I spent time at the Open ESB booth at JavaOne 2007 talking with the Sun representatives and engineers about Open ESB.
    I'm glad I did, but I'm having a heck of a time getting started.
    I have all of the requirements set-up running on Solaris 10 development server.
    I've used the Service Oriented Architectures using BPEL from Java BluePrints, which really helped, but I feel I don't know enough yet to apply it towards real world projects yet.
    What other resources are recommened to learn more about SOA, BPEL on the JBI Framework?
    Thanks,

    Pinstriped_Dude: That's a very good point which I totally overlooked, thanks.
    I've been tasked to learn (not really tasked - I'm always happy to learn) about ESB, SOA and JBI - so far I'm taking baby steps and making progress.
    Thanks again,
