Gif files not moving
Aloha all, can anyone tell me what program I need to make animated gif files animate? When I download any animated gif files they don't move. When I open in Preview all pics are there, they just don't play. Any advice on how to make them move like they should? mahalo for any tips info. JB
Apart from Safari there are many free viewers which do show animated gifs.
CocoviewX is just one of them.

Animated gif is not moving in the FireFox 3.6.3 ?
why animated gif is not moving in FireFox 3.6.3 ?
== This happened ==
Every time Firefox openedSame problem in save mode. An animated gif will not start. No offending plugins or themes are installed.
But if I right-click on the animation and then on "Grafik-Info anzeigen" (maybe "show grafic info") then as soon as the info window starts the animation, it is also started in the browser!
And this error does not happen on all machines. My Win7 64bit does it right. My XP 32bit (freshly updated) freezes the animation. Weird world. -

How to reload/recognize GIF files after moving AE project
I just moved some AE projects to a new computer. Naturally as I now load the AEP's it says all files not found. The file paths have changed. Just about everything in the folder of all projects is GIF files and a few WAVS.
RIght now if I right click on the item and choose REPLACE FOOTAGE, then try to choose a GIF file, AE says it can't parse the file, since AE does not recognize a GIF file as "footage".
Can anyone tell me how to choose an entire set of files in a project and point AE to the right directory so it can find the new file paths?
thanks
JohnHmmm. I did both procedures. Collect files. Move the newly created folders over to the other computer. Install the current free version of quicktime 7. Then I booted the AEP, but the GIFs are still proxies and once again AE tells me it can't parse the GIF files. Is it possible that AE 5.5 is not recognizing the new quicktime install?
thanks

How to to read/write GIf files (not animated)
Hi,
Is there a labview vi(s) that will read a gif file and display it and also that will wirte it? I am interested in non animated gifs.
LouisBen wrote:
Well before Mike got carried away in this thread the answer to those questions was "NO".
But if you check that thread you will see that Mike has already done half of the work (reading a gif).
There is limited functionality for writing a GIFin LabVIEW, look in vi.lib\picture\gif.llb\Write GIF File.vi

GIF files not being cached for toolbar (WEB Forms)
I realized that the GIF files we are using
in our toolbars are not being cached by the
browser. I analyzed the file XLF.LOG and
the files always have access code "200"
(not cached). The file REGISTRY.DAT has
the same problem. Only the JAR file has
access code "304" (cached). Although these
GIF files are small (~900 bytes), it takes
many seconds to open each form when someone
executes our application using a low speed
line (many of our forms have toolbars
with more than 30 icons). Is there any
special configuration I have to do or this
will be corrected in future versions?

Jpg and gif files not showing up on recipient's email
When I attach photos on an email sent from whichever email address through my Mail Application (the one that comes with all Mac OS), sometimes people using AOL or other mail servers don't even see the files. Usually, I think all the problems are with jpg, pdf, and gif files and not .doc files or any text files. they seem to see the text files without any problems. So then Im forced to go to my gmail through safari and attach one by one. Honestly, I find the click and drag en masse of the files I want as attachments much easier, but I want to know how and what is the reason that some servers continuously cannot see my files. Sometimes they see the files as I attach them, meaning as photos on the actual email. And they get confused and don't know how to download them because they say that on the email application they use (gmail for example) there is nowhere where it says download attachments. What is going on and what can I do on my mail application to change this. its really frustrating because my work makes me email lots of photos and sometimes this problem is extremely cumbersome and annoying
Some email readers have trouble with enclosures (particularly graphics) from within an email that is formatted as Rich Text. If you format your mail as Plain Text (see the Format menu) then I expect they will see the enclosures.

OS command working but file not moved
HI All,
I am facing an issue with receiver File adapter OS command.
OS command will move file from folder A to B and after remove
It was working previously fine.But now it is not moving file.
In CC logs it is showing as successfull ececution of OS command.
I have checked the folder authorisations and they have not changed....
Any inputs regarding this issue??
Regards.Hi kiran,
although you ave checke authorization, I gues it has something to to with this.
Is the user in communication channel still autorized?
Try to logOn with an FTP-Client an this user an PW on the relevant folders.
Or could it be that a file with the same filename already extist an the folder is not allowed to overwrite?

.gif files not displaying right
For some reason when I import my .gif files they have ragged
edges, even if the files themselves have smooth edges. I'm not
really sure why it is doing this because the files look fine in
other applications. Does anyone have any idea why it does this or
how I can fix it?It could be that you need to save the gif with a Matt the
same color as the background of the flash file. But you might as
well use PNG format. It works really well with flash. -
GIF files not loading from jar in Netscape
Hi,
I have a jar file that contains my applet code(class files) and a bunch of gif files. I load the image using the URL returned from getCodeBase() method. The images load fine in Explorer but they do not show up in Netscape. The class files and gif files are not in separate directories and getCodeBase is returning the correct URL of my server(Example: http://www.myserver.com). Does anyone know how to fix this? I also noticed that download time did not improve on either browser when I bundled all the gif file in the jar rather than place them outside the jar file. Isn't bundling them in the jar supposed to save multiple requests back to the server to get the gifs and thus reduce download time? Thanks in advance.There the sample from Netscape: http://developer.netscape.com/docs/technote/java/getresource/getresource.html#classloader

Gif file not found in JAR from Java Application
Hello Forumers,
Could some one please explain how to create a JAR file from where I can get a GIF file. I have tried a number of different ways but it allways fails. (I have tried to add the GIF files using the jar command and I have tried to add it using WinZip after the jar is created).
To isolate the problem I created this very simple program, the program works very well when the gif file resides on the directory from where I run the Application, but when I remove it from the directory it fails. I have tried to put the GIF file in the JAR in a number of different ways but it allways fails. (I have also tried with and without slash before the name of the GIF). I guess the problem is the way I create the JAR file
import java.io.*;
public class GifTest
{ public static void main(String args[])
{ InputStream in = GifTest.class.getResourceAsStream("/open.gif");
if (in==null)
System.out.println("Null returned");
else
System.out.println("OK");
Any Hints appreciated
/KjellHi,
here is a small application using my own class GetImageIcon.
Normally I have this "help-class" in a utility-package to use it from all my projects without copying. For this example I copied the code in the test application. Feel free to use the code of the class like you want. For me it works fine.
Do the following:
1. Create a folder called /meta-inf under the folder where the class-files are. Use a text-editor and create a file saved as "manifest.mf".
manifest.mf tells the jar-file which is the main-class from where the application will start when double-clicked.
It only has to contain one line:
Main-Class: GifTest
2. Compile and create the jar file. I made a bat-file containing:
javac -verbose GifTest.java
%pause
REM Create Jar-File
jar cmf meta-inf/manifest.mf GifTest.jar *.class *.gif
REM Show Table of Content of the Jar-File
jar tf GifTest.jar
%pause
So you can see what's in the jar-file.
3. When you double-click on the jar-file the application is executed. So it is easier to use for the users. They don't have to type in anything on the command-line. You can deploy this jar-file to any client and run it. The only thing you have to do, is to install the JRE on the clients.
I develop with JDK 1.3.1 and JRE 1.3.1 is installed on the clients of the company I work for.

Animated gif files not working in FF5 ok in every other browser
Hi .
I am having problems getting animated gifs to play in firefox 5 i am using a photo gallery script to show these files it works in every other browser i have access to (most of them on Linux and windows Xp and win7 ) if i use FF5 as a file manager and navigate to the files they run but not from a web page this is only with firefox 4 and 5 not got previous to 4 to test .Right . this looks like it may be a problem with the way FF5 is handling various methods of viewing images i use the following code .
<pre><nowiki><a class="thumbnail" href="#thumb"><img src="photos/IMG_7039 EOS-1D Mark III copy.jpg" width="100px" height="75px" border="0"><span><img src="photos/Animations/IMG_7039 EOS-1D Mark III copy.gif"></span></a></nowiki></pre>
along with css .
<pre><nowiki>(
.gallerycontainer{
position: relative;
/*Add a height attribute and set to largest image's height to prevent overlaying*/
.thumbnail img{
border: 1px solid blue;
margin: 0 5px 5px 0;
.thumbnail:hover{
background-color: transparent;
.thumbnail:hover img{
border: 1px solid blue;
.thumbnail span{ /*CSS for enlarged image*/
position: fixed;
background-color: lightyellow;
padding: 5px;
left: -600px;
border: 1px dashed gray;
visibility: hidden;
color: black;
text-decoration: none;
.thumbnail span img{ /*CSS for enlarged image displays the large image*/
border-width: 4;
padding: 12px;
.thumbnail:hover span{ /*CSS for enlarged image*/
visibility: visible;
top: 0;
left: 230px; /*position where enlarged image should offset horizontally */
z-index: 50;
)</nowiki></pre>
to create the gallery now if i navigate directly to the dir with the gif images in they work ok but if i use the gallery method they fail .
Tried safe mode no addons no change .. -
I have searched the fourm and there are a couple of responses to similar questions, but I I can't seen to find how to move the XMP files when I drag a folder of photos from one external drive to another external drive.
I drag the folder with 500 photos over the photos go but I get a message saying the following files did not transfer and its all my XMP files for the images I transfered. How can I get the folders and the edits to transfer from a 500gb to a 4TB external hard drive
Thank you in advanced
Joe CosentinoLr creates XMP-files only for Raw images - although the box in >catalog Settings >Metadata tab speaks of " ... write changes to XMP>.
But true XMP-files in the sense of side-car files, i.e a separate little file that sites next to its image file are only created in the case of Raw images. In the case of JPGs, TIFFs, PSDs the changes are written into the header of the file (but not in the image pixels!) and a separate xmp-file is not created.
Lr saves changes to XMP (i.e. writes the changes into the header of JPGs, TIFFs, PSDs and creates separate "true" xmp-files for Raw images) only if you do this either manually (by pressing Ctrl / Cmd + S / or doing >Metadata >Save Metadata to file) or by checking the box <Automatically write changes to XMP> in >Catalog Settings >Metadata tab.
I you do neither of these, Lr will not save to XMP and will not create xmp side-car files for Raw images.
My remark about <Show hidden files> was not meant for Lr. What I meant was that you move the files in your OS (Mac Finder / Win Explorer); and in Win Explorer is an option to <Show Hidden Files> under >Tools >Folder Options >View tab.
If you move images in your OS Lr will show the old folder with a question mark and will show images as "missing". You then have to re-link Lr to the new location of the images.
See here on how to do that: http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_find_folder/find-folder.htm
Since it seems to work now, better stay with moving images from within Lr - until you understand the issues involved in moving images in your OS. -
GIF files not shown ? how to find duplicates ?
I have Photoshop Album Starter Edition (PSASE 3.0)
1) PSE is not showing GIF images, it shows only JPG
It only searches for images in MyPictures, but I have images in many other folders also.
2) I would like to find dupes, how do I proceed ?PSASE detects duplicates automatically when you are importing images. The images that are already imported and are present in the catalog are reported as duplicates and are not imported again.
Also, PSASE plays files of most common video formats. Please let us know the filename extensions of the video files you are trying to play.
