GIFT question import - word wrap

I've created an excel macro spreadsheet to export all of my questions to the GIFT text format.  Some of the answers are single sentence, maybe 100 characters max, some are single words, etc.
The problem is when I import the question file, the answer text fields are not adjusting height to accommodate the text length. Is there a way to have Captivate 7 handle word wrapping question text without having to manually adjust the height of each answer text field?

Did you get an answer to this question? I have the same question.

    When in mobile browser, how do I get to word wrap.  If zoom out the words are too small, if zoom in have to scroll horizontally to read full sentences. Very annoying.  Thanks

  • RH8 error:  Can't import word document or PDf

    I just upgraded from RH7 to RH8.  I am running Win7 64bit.   I also opened RH HTML, which is what I used in RH7.  I have a relative small project and I am trying to import a new word document into the current project.  I am now trying to upload a word document.  When I first open the current project, RH8 asked me to convert to new format and I clicked yes.  Here are my steps to upload a word document:
    click on file
    Click on Import Word Doc (I've tried Microsoft Word 2010, Microsoft Word 2007, Adobe PDF 9)
    The Content Setting popup comes up; I've clicked Next.
    Then clicked Finished.
    Then an error comes with Word:
    If I do a pdf:  I get this error:
    Thank you for any help you can give.

    Hey,
          Sorry for the delay in response. We would like you to kindly verify a few things:
    Are you facing the issue consistently with any word doc you try to import?
    Is this browser specific? Please try the same with any browser other than the one you have already tried with. If so kindly report the browser and its version info
    Is this system specific? If yes please include the information of the OS and it's version.Have you tried the same from a different machine.
    The flash player version you are currently using?
    Hope these  n questions don't seem overwhelming but this would be really helpful for us in isolating the issue. Thanks for the patience.
    Regarding your other question: All the following documents are free form documents as of now , with no special formatting:
    Logline
    Character-bio
    Pitch
    Research
    Summary
    Synopsis
    Other document
    Do you suggest some standard formatting for these?
    Your suggestions are welcome. They aid us in getting better

  • Force word wrap in JTextPane (using HTMLEditorKit)

    Hi!
    I have a JTextPane on a JScrollPane inside a JPanel. My text pane is using HTMLEditorKit.
    I set the scrolling policies of my JScrollPane to: JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_AS_NEEDED & JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_NEVER.
    I did not find in JTextPanes API any relevant property I can control word-wrapping with (similar to JTextAreas setLineWrap) and I have tried a few things to force word-wrapping but nothing worked...
    What happens is my text is NOT being wrapped (even though there is no horizontal scrolling) and typed characters (it is an enabled editable text componenet) are being added to the same long line
    Id like to force word-wrapping (always) using the vertical scroll bar whenever the texts extends for more then one (wrapped) line.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!!

    Your suggestion of using the example only holds if it fits the requirements of the featureDid your questions state anywhere what your requirement was?
    You first questions said you had a problem, so I gave you a solution
    You next posting stated what your where currently doing, but it didn't say it was a requirement to do it that way. So again I suggested you change your code to match the working example.
    Finally on your third posting you state you have some server related issues causing the requirement which I did not know about in my first two postings.
    State your problem and special requirments up front so we don't waste time quessing.
    I've used code like this and it wraps fine:
    JTextPane textPane = new JTextPane();
    textPane.setContentType( "text/html" );
    HTMLEditorKit editorKit = (HTMLEditorKit)textPane.getEditorKit();
    HTMLDocument doc = (HTMLDocument)textPane.getDocument();
    textPane.setText( "<html><body>some long text ...</body></html>" );
    JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane( textPane );If you need further help then you need to create a [url http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html]Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE) that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour, because I can't guess exactly what you are doing based on the information provided.
    And don't forget to use the [url http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting]Code Formatting Tags so the code retains its original formatting.

  • JOptionPane.showMessageDialog() - word wrapping exceptions?!

    Hey ppl,
    Probably a silly question...
    I'm currently working with JDBC, and SQLexceptions can be very long! Currently displaying them in a JOptionPane.showMessageDialog() (as i guess most people do?), but being so long they cause it to span the whole screen & then some!
    I looked through the JOptionPane API, but didn't spot anything that might help. Is there a way to get this exception to dispaly on multiple lines, kinda like word wrap in notepad?
    Cheers for any suggestions.
    Jim

    I can't speak for other developers..But as for myself, I rarely if ever print error messages to the JOptionPane. Almost always, I print my error messages and the stack if necessary, to the ouput. This is either a command line window, console, log file, or output screen in an ide depending upon how you program. My code looks something like this.
    catch(Exception e)
        System.out.println(e.getMessage());  // Will print only the message property of the exception
        e.printStackTrace();  // Will print the stack for more information
    }Sorry I couldn't answer your question directly. Maybe someone else can. Hope I was helpful anyway.

  • DataGrid, HTML Text, and WORD WRAPPING

    I have a datagrid, with 2 columns:
    - comment
    - date
    The dataprovider that feeds the datagrid is an array
    collection, with each object containing the following fields:
    - comment
    - date
    - viewed
    What I want to do is BOLD the comment cell if the comment has
    not yet been viewed. What I first tried doing was to just insert
    the <b></b> tags on the server and then feed them up to
    Flex. So here's the code that I had tried to do this with:
    <mx:DataGridColumn>
    <mx:itemRenderer>
    <mx:Component>
    <mx:HBox>
    <mx:Label htmlText="{data.comment}" />
    </mx:HBox>
    </mx:Component>
    </mx:itemRenderer>
    </mx:DataGridColumn>
    This works, but I lose the word wrapping for long comments (I
    have wordwrap="true" defined on my DataGrid).
    Then I tried changing my approach and doing something a
    little more simple to try and preserve the word wrapping, like
    this:
    <mx:DataGridColumn dataField="comment" width="100"
    wordWrap="true" fontWeight="{(data.viewed==0 ? 'bold' : 'normal')}"
    />
    Yet that doesn't seem to work either, it appears to just
    completely ignore everything... no bolding whatsoever.
    So my question is: what's the best to to control the BOLDING
    of a DataGrid cell while at the same time retaining the word wrap
    features?
    Thanks,
    Jacob

    <mx:DataGridColumn>
    <mx:itemRenderer>
    <mx:Component>
    <mx:HBox>
    <mx:Label htmlText="{data.comment}"
    wordWrap="true" height="100%"/>
    </mx:HBox>
    </mx:Component>
    </mx:itemRenderer>
    </mx:DataGridColumn>

  • Word Wrapping JLabel

    I'm having trouble getting JLabel's to word wrap. I've tried using html tags. Is there any way I ca do this? What I'm trying to do is read in from a file, get Questions and Answers, and display quesitons and answers to a JLabel using setText(). The dimensions are (400, 450) but even with html tags on the text I'm setting, it just runs right off the panel.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Below is my JTextArea. As you can see I have it set for 2 rows and 40 col. When I run the program, it's still just one line of text straight off my panel.
    Do you see anything I'm missing here?
                quesJTextArea = new JTextArea("",2,40);
                quesJTextArea.addMouseListener(this);
                quesJTextArea.setLineWrap(true);
                quesJTextArea.setWrapStyleWord(true);
                quesJTextArea.setEditable(false);
                quesJTextArea.setBackground(Color.gray);

  • Word wrapping incorrect inside JTextPane on MAC 0.5/10.4 and Linux OS

    Hello java-dev team,
    In my application, I am using JTextPane as a text editor to create RTF text. The problem I observed with the JTextPane on MAC OS and Linux OS flavors (I tested on Ubuntu 8.04) is: whenever I am changing any of the text property (font color, font name, font style like bold, italic or underline) and then enter the characters without providing space, the whole word gets wrapped to the next line from the point where exactly the property change starts i.e. the new formatted text is jumped to the next line from the starting point of formatting.
    My requirement is, as I am not adding any space character while changing the property, the characters should be entered in the sequence and should come to new line as per normal word-wrap rule.
    Can anybody help me out in this regards with some solution as it’s a very urgent requirement?
    Below I am also providing the sample code to check the behavior. There is no dynamic facility to change the property in the below code but I am providing the text with multiple formatting settings through code itself. To reproduce the above issue, just type the characters using keyboard in between characters with changed text properties and you can see the whole word jumping to new line.

I tested using jdk 6.0 on Ubuntu 8.04, and the problem is easily reproducible. I placed a query in the respective OS forums also but did not receive any replies. I also searched the sun’s bug database, but could not find any bug addressing the mentioned problem correctly. I also logged issue at bugs.sun.com and was assigned internal review ID of 1480019 for this problem.

  • Word wrap in JList

    I was wondering if I can do a word wrap with JLists.
    I have this so far.
    JList pizza;
    DefaultListModel listPizza;
    JScrollPane scrollPizza;
    listPizza = new DefaultListModel();
    pizza = new JList(listPizza);
    scrollPizza = new JScrollPane(pizza);
    This will let me scroll horizontally if the text becomes longer than the screen, but I want it to wrap around the screen. I only want to it to scroll vertically.

    In the future, swing questions should be posted in the swing forum.
    If I recall correctly, you can do this by making a custom CellRenderer for your JList which uses a JTextArea to do the rendering. Search the swing forum or look at the sun java tutorial for custom renderers.

  • JLabel Word Wrap

    I'm building a simple chat application to work on my network programming skills. I ran into an issue that I can't quite find a solution to.
    I Have a JPanel inside of a JScrollPane, and inside of it JLabels with the messages received are added as they come. I would like the JLabels to wrap the text after it reaches a certain width. Here's the testing code I'm using for this:
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    class ChatBody {
         public static Container createChatBody() {
              JPanel body = new JPanel(new GridBagLayout());
              GridBagConstraints c = new GridBagConstraints();
              c.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH;
              c.weightx = 1.0;
              c.weighty = 1.0;
              JPanel messages = new JPanel();
              JScrollPane messagesPane = new JScrollPane(messages);
              messagesPane.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(608, 478));
              messagesPane.setBorder(BorderFactory.createLineBorder(Color.black));
              messagesPane.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
              JLabel messageOne = new JLabel("This is a label that I'm going to make really long to test the wrapping abilities of a JLabel/JPanel/JScrollPane. This needs to be really long so it will reach the end of the scroll pane and *hopefully* wrap on it's own, so I won't have to do any work =D");
              messages.add(messageOne);
              c.gridx = 0;
              c.gridy = 0;
              body.add(messagesPane, c);
              return body;
    }Please note I took some irrelevant code out.
    Is there a method or something to make JLabels word wrap? Or will I have to be creative and make something up?
    Edit: I don't know if this is relevant, but this is the class with the main() method:
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    class JavaChat {
         public static void createChatWindow() {
              JFrame frame = new JFrame("Java Chat");
              frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
              frame.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(800, 600));
              //frame.setJMenuBar();
              frame.getContentPane().add(ChatBody.createChatBody());
              frame.pack();
              frame.setVisible(true);
         public static void main(String args[]) {
              SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable() {
                   public void run() {
                        createChatWindow();
    }That's needed for anyone that needs to compile my code for some reason.

    Wrapping is not support in a JLabel.
    Most people would use either a JTextArea or JTextPane which do support wrapping.

  • Word wrap with JScrollPane

    Quick question. Trying to get word wrap in a JTextField
    using JSrollPane. Below is a small snippet of code
    from my program...
    displayArea = new JTextArea ( );
    JScrollPane scroll = new JScrollPane ( displayArea,
       JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS,
       JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_NEVER); Doesn't using JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_NEVER automatically
    introduce word wrap? I'm not getting it in my program. Somebody please correct me. Thanks!

    displayArea.setLineWrap (true);
    displayArea.setWrapStyleWord (true);I thought it wasn't added automatic.

  • Dynamically word wrap in a JLabel

    I have several JLabels in a complex layout that has a JSplitter and is in a resizeable window.
    I would like it if there isn't enough room for the text of the JLabel to fit on one line, but there is enough vertical room (there almost always is), for the JLabel to automatically word wrap, and become 2 or three line, as needed. (There are usually only 2 or three words in these JLabels.
    I haven't found a way to do this. I know about putting HTML in the JLabel lets you put <BR>s in, but I would like the JLabel to be only one line if possible, going to two line if there isn't enough room to fit all the text on one line.
    I searched this forum, and found a suggestion to use a JTextArea made up to look like a JLabel ( http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=57&thread=399180 second reply from bottom ), but this has it's own problems. The JTextAreas, try to take up as much vertical space as possible instead of only as much space a necessary (as a JLable does) in the layout that I'm using.
    Is there any way of doing this?

    JLabel label = new JLabel();
    label.setLayout new BorderLayout() ;
    JTextPane pane = new JTextPane();
    pane.setBackground(label.getBackground());
    // or try making it opaque
    pane.setText("long text here");
    label.add(pane,BorderLayout.CENTER);The above still has the problem of wanting its preferred size to be calculated from the text layed out in one line. I was digged around in my Java2D folder and found some old code I wrote, based on something by J. Knudsen:

  • Stylesheets and applying to imported Word docs. (RHx5)

    I've been reading a comments about style sheets, importing Word docs and formatting issues (in regards to importing Word docs and pre-determined styles/bullets/numbering).  I also saw that someone was trying to create a css outside of RH and was having issues.  This leads me to a couple of questions.
    1.  When importing Word docs, does RH create a separate css for each doc, or is there an option to not have this occur when performing the import process?
    2.  If I am understanding css', you should only have one per project, if you want all of html pages to appear identical, correct?
    3.  What do you do if you've made the mistake of having several different css' out there, making everything appear funky?  Can you create a new project and import the documents without the css and apply a new css (created in the new project) to all of the html files?  Will this assist in correcting a lot of the spacing, bullet and numbering problems?
    4.  Can I view the default css and edit it?
    I think I have a big problem on my hands.  I was trying to make things easier for SMEs who were designated to write procedures in Word by creating the pre-defined formats.  After reading PG's pages, I sunk into my chair.  I was having the problems he mentioned.  I tried to edit some of the pages in the html editor and appear to have made them worse.  I was trying to simplify the code a little (with what knowledge I currently have with html, which is minimal).  I am fortunate that I only have about 200 documents that could be impacted.  Any comments/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    That's the way it is, no option.
    2.  If I am understanding css', you should only have one per project, if you want all of html pages to appear identical, correct?
    With the "if you want them identical" proviso, you would only have one CSS but you don't have to have them all identical. That is your call.

    It's not a mistake but if you want to get out of that situation, you need to do some cleaning up. The first step will be to create a CSS that contains all your existing style names, note I say names. Each of your CSS files will have a variety of styles but let's make it easy for this explanation. One has H1, H2, P and P.Note (a class) while another has One has H1, H2, P and P.Warning (a class). Now let's say you have just two topics, one has CSS_1 and one has CSS_2. The H1, H2 and P styles may be the same or different but assuming they are different, you now want them to be the same so what you want is a CSS with H1, H2, P, P.Note and P.Warning. You could then apply that to both topics and all the content would be displayed as defined in CSS_3. Obviously the real task is bigger but the principals are the same.
    The way I would tackle it is to create a new CSS and copy in the styles from the biggest of your existing CSS files. Then I would look at the others and copy in any styles that are not already in. That gives you all the style names, albeit with the wrong appearance. Then you start working through the styles to get them right. It is not as bad as it sounds. I recommend using Top Style from http://www.bradsoft.com. There's a free version that only opens one CSS at a time but you can see what you are doing with it. The others can be open in Notepad.
    4.  Can I view the default css and edit it?
    Yes.
    Next time you need input from the SMEs, output to one Word template from RH so that they all have the same appearance. Their job is provide content so the styles are irrelevant to them.
    Yes you've got some work but it isn't too massive. Hope this helps.

  • Word wrap on scrolling textPane

    Hi,
    How do I turn the word wrap off on a textPane so I can have a scrollable continuous string?
    Thanks
    Andy

    Having read different posts on this forum I have determined that there are two ways to turn line wrapping off:
    1) add the JTextPane to the center of a JPanel using the BorderLayout
    2) override the getScrollableTracksViewportWidth() method ot JTextPane. (after testing I determined it was sometimes necessary to also override the setSize() method as well. )
    Here is my sample program showing the two approaches.
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.text.*;
    public class TestNoWrap extends JFrame
         JTextPane textPane;
         JScrollPane scrollPane;
         public TestNoWrap()
              JPanel panel = new JPanel();
              panel.setLayout( new BorderLayout() );
              setContentPane( panel );
              // no wrap by adding a text pane to a panel first
              textPane = new JTextPane();
              textPane.setText("1234567890 1234567890 1234567890");
              JPanel noWrapPanel = new JPanel();
              noWrapPanel.setLayout( new BorderLayout() );
              noWrapPanel.add( textPane );
              scrollPane = new JScrollPane( noWrapPanel );
              scrollPane.setPreferredSize( new Dimension( 200, 100 ) );
              panel.add( scrollPane, BorderLayout.NORTH );
              // no wrap by overriding text pane methods
              textPane = new JTextPane()
                   public void setSize(Dimension d)
                        if (d.width < getParent().getSize().width)
                             d.width = getParent().getSize().width;
                        super.setSize(d);
                   public boolean getScrollableTracksViewportWidth()
                        return false;
              textPane.setText("1234567890 1234567890 1234567890");
              scrollPane = new JScrollPane( textPane );
              scrollPane.setPreferredSize( new Dimension( 200, 100 ) );
              panel.add( scrollPane );
         public static void main(String[] args)
              TestNoWrap frame = new TestNoWrap();
              frame.setDefaultCloseOperation( EXIT_ON_CLOSE );
              frame.pack();
              frame.setVisible(true);

  • Importing word-xml into wd officecontrol

    hi all,
    i've tried some things with the officecontrol. Importing Word docs ist quite easy with binding the datasource
    to a word-doc content with mime type "doc" ,"application/msword".
    Unfortunately i have to import xml content. The client application is Word 2007. I don't know how to handle
    that. The activex only shows the raw xml-content, but when i opened the xml-file with word 2007 directly
    the content is shown as a real word document.
    kind regards
    thomas

    Since you created the form in LiveCycle Designer, you should post the question in its forum here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_es/livecycle_designer_es
