How to choose between XSLT & JAVA Mapping.
HI
Usually Java mapping is preferred when the target structure is relatively complex and the transformation cannot be accomplished by simple graphical mapping.
When to use Java mapping
1) Java mapping are used when graphical mapping cannot help you.
Advantages of Java Mapping.
1)you can use Java APIs and Classes in it.
2) file look up or a DB lookup is possible
3) DOM is easier to use with lots of classes to help you create nodes and elements.
Java mapping can be used when you have complex mapping structures.

Step u2013 By u2013 Step Simple Approach for XSLT Mapping
Step By Step Simple Approach for XSLT Mapping
Advantages of using XSLT mapping
XSLT program itself defines its own target structure.
XSLT programs can be imported into SAP XI. Message mapping step can be avoided. One can directly go for interface mapping once message interfaces are created and mapping is imported.
XSLT can be used in combination with graphical mapping.
Multi-mapping is also possible using xslt.
XSLT can be used with ABAP and JAVA Extensions.
Disadvantages of using XSLT mapping
Resultant XML payload can not be viewed in SXMB_MONI if not in XML format (for service packs < SP14).
Interface mapping testing does not show proper error description. So errors in XSLT programs are difficult to trace in XI but can be easily identified outside XI using browser.
XSLT mapping requires more memory than mapping classes generated in Java.
It all depends upon the required Scenario and the requirement , which mapping has to be used.

Call ABAP FM from XI Java mapping
Can you please provide me some documentation on how to make a call to ABAP function module from Java mapping.
Basically this would be a RFC lookup from Java mapping.
Any recomendations on which one is a standard approach among ABAP Mapping vs JAVA mapping within XI.
Your responses are appreciated.
TNVHi TNV,
<i>I am more looking into using RFC call from java mapping.</i>
The article by Michal can be used to make the RFC lookup not only from an User Defined Function but also from a java mapping.
You can write any piece of java code inside the EXECUTE() method of your Java Mapping including the RFC Lookup API code in michal's article.

Activation / Supending of Trial for ABAP on HANA and BW 7.4 time out
Hi altogether,
until today, the CLOUD solution ABAP on HANA and Netweaver BW 7.4 on HANA worked perfectly.
But today (22/01/2015) I get either Time-out Problems when activating or supsending.
Currently one instance is active and is not suspending. Error message: Suspending did not complete in 1200s. Could you please invest the reason?
Regards,
JürgenHi Juergen,
According to Error Codes - Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud the description of IncorrectInstanceState is:
The instance is in an incorrect state, so the requested action can't be completed. For example, some instance attributes, such as user data, can only be modified if the instance is in a 'stopped' state.
If you are associating an Elastic IP address with a network interface, ensure that the instance that the interface is attached to is not in the 'pending' state.
Could you check for errors in the AWS management Console or contact Amazon?
Best regards,

Hi,
Windows Media Player 12 is compatible with Windows 7, other editions will be not compatible, so where did you download this WMP?
In addition to the solutions provided by Balaji Kundalam, you can also try this,
If you have any other 3 rd party music player installed, I suggest you uninstall them first, cause some 3 badly code program can cause the corruption of WMP, then go to Control Panel\Programs and features\Turn Windows Feature on or off, scroll down
to Media Feature, untick it, restart your PC, then go to the same place, re-tick this option, restart PC.
If for some reason the re-installation of WMP is not clean, once uninstalled, try go to %ProgramFiles% (and %ProgramFiles(x86)% for 64-bit OS) folder, and delete the Windows Media Player folder.

Should we avoid Graphical mapping and stick with Java mapping?
After developing mappings in XI for a month, I just don't see any good reasons to use Graphical mappings over Java mappings. Maybe some experienced users here can give me some valid reasons why we should choose Graphical mappings. Here is what I think:
Disadvantages of Graphical mappings:
1. No way to perform automated unit testings. This is probably the biggest reason I hate it. You can do some tests manually when you work in Integration Builder. But there is no way you can write some unit testing utilities to automate the task.
2. Complexity. Even for some simple requirements, your Graphical mappings can become complicated and hard to understand. A lot of times, I find myself staring at several dozens of graphical nodes and try to understand what it does.
3. Impossible to reuse. This is totally against the DRY (Don't repeat yourself) principle. For example, to generate messages for JDBC adapter, it is common to have two identical fields for primary keys: one in the access node and another in the key node. If you change the mapping logic in one, you have to remember to change the other.
Advantage with Java mappings:
1. Fully automated unit testing. You can create JUnit tests along with your Java mapping classes and use Maven or other build tools to perform automated unit testing.
2. Your choice of XML parsing and binding. With Java mapping, you can choose any open source framework for XML parsing and binding. For example, with XMLBeans, I can convert XML input message to a Java object, transform to another Java object and write to output message. And each Java object is generated from its corresponding XML schema.
3. Highly reusable. We can use fundamental object-oriented designs to create highly reusable mapping components.
4. Better version control. Since the mappings are just Java classes, we can use CVS or SVN to track code changes.
5. Better build tools. We can fully utilize build tools like Ant and Maven to automate the build, unit tests, or even generate documents and mapping web sites.
So do you guys agree? Maybe I am still new to XI or I am missing some important things. But at this point, I just don't see why I should use Graphical mappings. Is there anyone developing XI interfaces completely with Java mappings?
Thanks in advance for any comments!
Kenny CheangHi Suraj,
> Since its graphical the blocks will take space, but
> there is always an adavntage of processing time.
> Ebven though it may appear bigger, it will take less

Could you explain more why the graphical mapping has better performance? I thought the graphical mapping is compiled into a Java class in the runtime anyway.
> Yes thats there, but same goes with Java mapping too
> right (if you haven't mentioned it as constants)
I mainly think about inheritance. If I have to build 10 interfaces and they all have some common behavior, I can create a base interface class to encapsulate the common logic. But with graphical mapping, you have to duplicate them in each interface.
> Disadvantages of Java mapping:
> 1. Performance
Same as above. I just don't see why Java has worse performance. I actually think Java should have better performance. You can optimize the code anyway you want. In some cases, you have to use queue functions in graphical mapping but it's not necessary in Java.
> 2. All might not be well versed with Java Code(though
> everyone may know basic java) .
I am not asking everyone to abandon graphical mapping. I am just wondering which one is better when you have skills for both.
> 3. Lot of standard functions are available in GM
> which you can choose, but you have to remember the
> exact code for those in Java mapping.
You can create functions in Java too. All you have to do is to remember the function name.

Is it possible to call XSLT from Java Mapping Class?
Hi,
does someone have experience with this? Or any ideas?
And, if yes, how can be this XSLT called? Is it necessary to specify special path? Or it is the XSLT file placed in the same directory?
Thanx in advance, Peter
Message was edited by: Peter JarsunekHi SUdhir,
Thanx 4 your answer. I have seen this link before, but there is only Java->Java or XSLT->Java calling.. I need Java->XSLT.. When I create Java mapping, I want to use stored XSLT stylesheet to convert the message. Because, my problem is,that my primary message contains characters which I want to be changed. For this reason I need java class - to replace the characters. And then I want to do transformation with the XSLT stylesheet. Can you post some example?
Thanx, Peter -

Switch framework for Abap development (Program and FM)
Hello All, I have requirement to deliver some code (in a custom Add-on) which is using some program /FMs based upon a particular country/industry specific software particularly EA-DFPS. I am planning to create a switch for this code's package(from tcode SFW1/2/3) and by default disable this switch (in SFW5). I am not sure if this is the right way; can anybody confirm if this will work on a system where i don't have software component EA-DFPS.
Thanks in advance
Maniany answer to this?
Mani -
this advice came from someone in a solved part of the forum, who had a long list of computer solutions.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
See:
* [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
* [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") -

Handling Multi hierarchial Structure using XSLT or Java Mapping in XI
Hello Experts,
I have an requirement wherein i have sender as IDOC and File as Receiver.My target File structure is multi hierarchial with parent level and many child sub level node.
I tried to generate flat structure using graphical mapping by creating an intermediate structure and then mapping it to flat structure but that seems to be very complex for my scenario as there are many sub level at target structure..
Is there any simple way of handlng these????
ThanksHi ,
I tried to implement your solution ..I am able to convert my idoc to XMLusing XLST but i have a question that how to convert that XMP to flat file as XI Receiver File adapter understand only 1st level of hierarchy..It doesnt understand nested level of hierarchy which is in my case...
Below is the xslt code which i have written:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">

</xsl:for-each>
</E1WBB02>

Any idea how do i convert these XML to falt file USing XSLT or File Receiver adapter in XI???

Message Mapping ... ABAP ,XSLT and JAVA
HI Friends
I have a general question ... but it will confuse me a lot ....
my question is we have four types of message mappings
1) GUI ( and UDFs)
2) ABAP
3)XSLT
4) JAVA
when we have plenty of options in GUI (and User defined functions also) to define sender 2 receiver message mapping
then what is need of JAVA,ABAP and XSLT Message Mapping and when we use these message mappings( exactly in which situation) and difference b/w them
Thanks in Advance
MaheshGreen = recommended
Yellow = Acceptable
Red = not recommended
In my experience.
XSLT mapping: is confotable to convert to another format different to xml(when we do not have a complex logic)
Java Mapping: is to implement complex logics(but the maintainbilityis not good...you need a external tool)
ABAP mapping: I think is the best option when the you have the skills on that technology but take account that is not portable neither good for usability.
