Global Variable Update for URL Link

Hello
I cant seem to find the article anymore and not sure if I was imagining this.
Within OBIEE when editing a dashboard we can add dashboard objects including a link
For this link, we can have any web URL we want to redirect to another web page.
For this URL, is there anyway to declare a static variable for this so we can go to one central location to update the URL?
Recently I had to go into each dashboard and update the URL manually one by one. Rather avoid this exercise if I can just make one global variable change
Any ideas?

So I finally found what I was looking for and it was right in front of my nose
In the catalog manager there is an option for "XML Search and Replace"
To update all the URL's across all my dashboards I just needed to use this function

Remember after updating to refresh, or exit and log back into your catalog manager to see the newly updated changes

Global variable updating

Problem:
If you have a book with ten chapters and use a variable as the issue number in the footer of each page, this results in a long and manual process to update it.
It would save me a lot of time if I could update a variable across all files in a book at the same time.
Proposed solution:
At the moment, variables are only managed in individual .fm files, not in the .book file. You could have a Global Variable Update option in the book window which brings up a dialog allowing you to select any open .fm file (much like the Import Formats window). Then you can select a variable from this .fm file and type a new value for it. The variable will then be updated for all .fm files in the book (or created if no such variable exists).

There is a way to update your single variable definition across your entire book. I'm assuming you want the variable value to be the same in all or in all your selected files as well.
Requirement: The variable you are updating must be named the same in all your files.
Potential Pitfall: If you have Running h/f variables defined differently from file to file, the definitions will be overwritten to what the file you are importing from has defined.
Ok, assuming your variable "issue number" is named the same in all your chapters, make a copy of one of your chapters by saving it out as "importvar.fm" (or whatever).
Now edit the definition of that user variable to what it needs to be. Do not close the variable palette.
In the list of user variables, delete all other user variables, but leave "Issue Number" as the only user defined variable in the palette.
Close the variable palette and save the file.
Select the files in your book that you want to import to. File>Import>Formats (Alt FIO) and select ONLY "Variable Definitions". Select "Import".
Done. In addition to your request for an update to the program, I would like the ability to deselect the system variables from a "Variable Definitions" Import.

How to remove bullets and spacing for url links in the Related Links iview?

I tried to look for a property that I can edit the look-n-feel of the url links in the Related Link iView using "Theme Editor".
All I need is to remove the bullets and increase some vertical spacing between the links.
Currently, it looks like this:
URL iView A
URL Iview B
I go through the whole section of Related Links properties, none of them seems to do what I want.
Here are the list of properties in Related Link section (of Navigation Panel):
Link Color
Text Decoration of Link
Hover Color
Text Decoration of Hovered Link
Initially, I thought "Text Decoration of Link" should be the right property I should look at. But there are a drop-down with 5 options: None, Underline, Blinking, Overline and Line-Through, which really can't achieve what I want.

Hi, Kai.
I checked the Related iView properties (URL Template), I don't see what layoutset it is really using. I am not sure, is that a layout set apply to the Related Link Iview?
For the regular KM iView, I will see what Layout Set I want to apply, then I can go and change the properties (of layout coontroller, collection renderer & resource renderer)you mentioned. But for this Related Link iView, I really don't know. I guess it may be in the code itself.
If there is a layout set for Related Link iView (or the place to apply layout set to it), can you point to me which one is that? (I did a search through the layout set names, I only find the AppQuicklinkExplorer (I used this for Dynamic Nav. Link iView before), if I can aply this layout set to Related Link iView, my problem will be solved.)

Not all non-global zones updated for DST

We have one server with Solaris 10 and four non-global zones. I installed patch 122032-03 to the global zone and it installed successfull, according to the log. With the DST change on 3/11, TWO of the non-global zones and the global zone updated correctly to daylight time, but the other TWO non-global zone DID NOT. Does anyone know what would cause this?
I have also tried to manually change the time on the two non-global zones and have not been able to; as root I get the message "not owner"

Fortunately, these were just test zones. They were set up by a previous admin to be used for pgpftp, so I'm wondering if there are some special configurations for security that is preventing the time change.

I rebooted from the global zone. All the zones have the same uptime as the global zone, except one that was rebooted more recently.
Quick question - how do I tell if it's a sparse zone or full zone?

I am not sure if I understood your question correctly. Do you want to change the sun logo in the welcome page of web server instance?. If yes, then go to the <install_webserver_dir>/https-<config-name>/docs and edit the index.html.

Request for URL Link in SmartForm

Hi Experts,
I am working on ECC5.0. I am developing PO smrtform and got a requirement to have HTML links in Smartform Layout.
Example Scenario: I have html link as follows for item number 1 details in PDF format. Whe I copy and paste the following link I am able to see PDF document.

If you need to create a static link only then specify in Jsp page
If the link is dynamic and also depends on some numbers It is always recommended to put the Link Or Url in the jsp dyn page or some java classess instead of jsp page.

Creating Ztable with fields for URL link and making available in ESS Portal

I have a requirement for maintaining URLs in a table, The URL can be unspecified length.
Table maintainance should also be provided.
I have searched SDN for this. But could not find the appropriate solution.
I have to pass these entries to ESS Portal through RFC.
Can I pass a string more than 255 chars. as an export parameter in an RFC.

you can have the field length what ever you want, but you can;t maintain them using Tablemaintenance. you can do one thing using some bdc or upload program update the table with the url what ever you have.
and also you can pass the parameter with more than 255 chars length using the function module.

Update to BlackBerry Link available for PCs, 1.0.1.11

Just inquired with Bell if there was a new update for BlackBerry Link -- may I pass on a reminder to BlackBerry to put the notice out there... perhaps I just missed it. Possibly this is the Outlook syncing feature people have been talking about...
I had to call Bell to figure out how to download the Update -- they told me to go to ca.blackberry.com/ and babysat me through it -- you have to go to that main page, then click on Software at the top, then go down the page to the section on BlackBerry Link for OS 10, and click on the line "learn more about BlackBerry Link" and when on that page, click the button for Download for PC or Download for Mac... mine went smoothly. My Z10 was on at the time, connected to cellular and to the resident house WiFi, not connected to the computer but just sitting on a table nearby, and some kind of communication between the two I believe took place, what I don't know, or perhaps it was over the clouds...
Hint to BlackBerry: Maybe a line on the Link software itself as to how and where to update it? And some kind of thing on the web such as "Check for latest update for Link software" "How to update your Link Software" -- maybe those two exercises could be combined.... but the latest version number should be publicized on the BlackBerry websites, folks.... also don't hide the procedure away so effectively!!

How to Read/Update GOS URL

Good day Gurus,
I created a program to create URL in GOS. My scenarios are these.
1. Check the contract in RE80 if URL Title "Testing" is already attached. If not, create the URL. Please help how to check if such URL title is already attached.
2. If its already attached, I need to update the URL link. I've check FM SO_OBJECT_UPDATE but it needs the Folder ID and Object ID. How will I get these parameters?

Moment global variable values

In ISF/Javascript, what are all the values for the Moment global variable?
For example, (Moment == "ordering") can be used to check if the current moment is Ordering moment. What are the values for all other moments, specifically Service Group Review and Service Group Authorization moments?

The values for Service Group Review moment is "streviews" and Service Group Authorization moment is "stauthorizations".
You are correct that these are not in the designer documentation. One way you can find them is through view page or frame HTML source when the service form is in that particular moment, and look for the word "Moment".

Target field in Text URL Link not working.

I'm working with CS6 creating a web-site for a client. The client has giving me a list of Publications to display on a particuter page, which is an overview of all the books that my cleint has published. The details for each book are on individual pages, which I've already created and have URL's for. The idea is to look at the overview page and if you desire, select a book title to view additional details about that particular book.
For this Overview page I've created a classic text block that contains several URL links.
Example: "This is information about book 1: URL LINK to BOOK 1 title. Great Press Book Publisher, 2010.
This is information about book 2: URL LINK to BOOK 2 Title . Great Press Book Publisher, 2011.
This is information about book 3: URL LINK to BOOK 3 Title. Great Press Book Publisher, 2012.
This is information about book 4: URL LINK to BOOK 4 title. Great Press Book Publisher, 2013."
I've placed the URL links for each respective book in the highlighetd text area for that book, represented by the BLUE text in the above example. The overview page as well as the individual book pages are publised and in my domain on-line.
Everything works fine with one exception. When I select a book link in the overview page, I want to have a New Browser window appear for that books individual page. Currently, the individual book page appears in the same browser window.
All, documentation I read says that I can set the "Target" field in Text properties to either NONE or _Blank to get a New Browser Window, but this does not seem to work.
Breaking up the text into small pieces is not an option, since Flash seems to shift text block positions when they are placed close to one another. I don't know why, it just happens. This makes the site unusable so the text block needs to remain a single text block for appearance reasons.
So, does anyone know if this is a bug in CS6?
Or does anyone know how I can get the "Target" setting to work for URL links within a block of text?

How are you assigning the links in the text? Normally if you assign a url to a textfield you can select one of four different targets, none of which is NONE (_blank, _parent, _top, _self)... so I am wondering why what you describe is different than what I'd expect.

Replacing 20 fixstatements by Global Variable - Problem 255 bytes length

Hello,
we have an issue in businessrules with setting the fix statement on 1 dimension:
we currently use Fix (@RELATIVE("CBU_ALL",0) ) - on level 0 are approx. 3000 members - on medium level are 20 CBUs Seat and 20 CBUs Door
we have approx. 20-30 similar businessrules - which either calculate on seat or door CBUs
the requirement is to either calculate with a rule the 20 CBUs for Seats or the 20 CBUs for Doors
as we currently do not fix properly on either Seat or Door CBUs, we calculate approx. 1500 empty members (empty, if fix in another dimension done correctly) - tests showed, that this doubles the time which would be needed.
I know we could easily set 20 fixes in each business rule:

(the fix above would then exclude the 1500 members, which are below:

unfortunately, the number of CBUs/Customers is frequently renamed or some are added, so I can not afford to built these 20 fixstatements into 20 different businessrules and maintain them all the time.
I thought of using UDAs or Attribute Values -
but it seems not to be possible in a fixstatment to combine a relative or Children fixstatement with UDAs, which are set on the upper member ?
I assume it works, if I classify all 3000 level 0 members with UDA or attribute SEATS or DOORS - but that's inefficient

generally, it seems not to be allowed to combine Children or descendant fixes with any other relations or conditions ?
@CHILDREN(@Match(CBU," Seat") ) (attempt to search for all children of all CBUs with Seat in its name)
So the idea is to define 2 global variables:
1 for Seats and 1 for Doors:
[SEAT] includes then then: @children("CBU_BMW_Seat") ... 20 more @children("CBU_Ford_Seat")
advantage would be, we can maintain the list of CBUs in 1 place
my problem is: length of global variable is limited to 255 bytes - I need 800 to 900 digits to define the 20 CBUs
having 8 global variables instead of 40 CBUs referenced in Fixstatements is not really an advantage
even if I would rename the CBUs to just S1,S2,S3,S4 D1,D2,D3 (S for Seat, D for Door) (and use aliases in Planning and Reporting with full name to have the right meaning for the users), it does not fit into 1 variable: @children("S1"), @Children("S2"), ..... is simply too long (still 400 digits)
also other attempts to make the statement shorter, failed:
@children(@list("CBU_BMW_Seat","CBU_Ford_Seat",.....)) is not allowed
is there any other idea of using global variables, makros, sequences ?
is there a workaround to extend global variable limit ? we have release 9.3.1 - is this solved in future releases ?
are there any other commands, which I can combine in clever way in fixstatements with
@relative
@children
@descendants
with things like @match @list ?
(Generation and Level are no approrate criteria for Separating Seat and Doors, as the hierarchy is the same)
please understand, that as we use this application for 5 years with a lot of historic data and it's a planning application with a lot of webforms and financial reports, and all the CBU members are stored members with calculated totals and access rights and setup data on upper members,
I can not simply re-group the whole cbu structure and separate Seats and Doors just for calculation performance
CBU dimension details is like this:

How hard would it be to insert 2 children under CBU_All? Name them CBU_Seats and CBU_Doors, then group all the Seats and Doors under them.
Then your calc could be @Relative(CBU_Doors, 0).
I know it's not always easy or feasible to effect change to a hierarchy, but I just had the thought.

How to declare global variables using another global variable in ODI

I am declaring a gloabal variable using another global variable.
say for example:
I have a global variable empid.
I am decalaring another global variable empname in refreshing tab of global variables and the select statment is
select empname from emp where empno = #GLOBAL.empid -------if i write like this i am getting error as invalid character.
select empname from emp where empno = '#GLOBAL.empid'-------if i write like this i am getting error as invalid number.
I have kept the datatype as numeric and action as non persistent
Please help

Hi,
You cant test/refresh empname standalone.
You need to create a new package drag and drop both variables and make them as refresh variable and execute that package and test.

Maintaining Global Variables in a Web Service

I want to write some webservices which manages global variables. For example i need to maintain a list of users who use this service (When the users first request comes his name is added to a data structure such as arraylist)s o that when his next request comes the service can idntify this user. I tried this using a static variable (only a blind guess) but it didnt work well.
And i need this service to be accessible from any platform (Java, .net, c++ etc...)
Can anyone help me with this.
