Glogin.sql and number fields

Oracle 11.2.0.3
I can go
col <column name> format 999,999,999,999
Is there a way to do this for all number fields with 1 command? sqlplus has a numwidth field. I have a rather long glogin.sql script. This is just personal preference. I like seeing commands in the numbers fields.
This is  more for convenience. I have a long list of these in my glogin.sql scripts and I am hoping to find 1 command.
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14357/ch6.htm
Hunted through the sqlplus commands, but I can't figure out how to do it.

Like this?
SQL> set numformat 999,999,999,999
SQL> SQL> select 123456789 from dual;
       123456789
     123,456,789

  • Form Letter Report - How To Format Date and Number Hidden Fields

    Hi
    Is it possible to format date and number fields in a form letter report. This case were Paper Design shows fields as $<hire_date>. The examples in reference book only print character values which do not require formatting. I cannot determine how to achieve this. Cannot select fields from Paper Design view as per other report styles where can apply formatting. Do I have to perform formatting in the query to return date as string in format I wish for? This is not case for other report styles.
    Thanks

    you could add a field, set the source of the field to hire_date (assuming hire_date is a column in the data model), and put a format mask of whatever format you want. then set visible to No.
    then instead of &<hire_date> you can instead type &<name of your new field>.

  • DBUA ora-01034 and the glogin.sql

    I am writing this note in hopes of saving another poor soul the trouble of getting their knickers in a knot over upgrading their database using the dbua utility.
    In my case I was upgrading from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.3, but I expect it doesn't matter what you are upgrading to or from, nor on which platform.
    If you have a glogin.sql in the $ORACLE_HOME/sqlplus/admin directory, the contents of that file may be causing the dbua scripts to fail, throwing an error message saying that Oracle is not connected.
    Rename the glogin.sql and see if dbua can carry on successfully, which in my case it did.
    Good luck!
    Wayne Linton

    The readme does state that 1.6 Update 3 is the minimum, so I would assume that the error is probably based on HP's naming convention.
    However, to me the ORA-1034/ORA-27101 errors say that the connection details are correct, SQL Developer is finding the listener on the DB server, but the DB is not running. It sounds like you have sqlplus on the same machine as SQL Developer, so have you tried a TNS based connection?

  • Date and number display format

    Hello all,
    I am new to Adobe Form, and I am quite unimpressed with how difficult it is to do the most simple things.
    I have managed one way or another to solve all my problems until now, but this one got me stuck.
    I have date and number fields in my form, and here is what I want to do but cannot:
    - I need these fields to be displayed using the defaults date and number settings of the SAP user who is generating the form. This one is really hard for me to figure out.
    - I need some other fields to be displayed in a specific format depending on a variable in the context of my form. I imagine this could be done using scripting, but how to change the display format of a field via scripting?
    Anyone has an idea of how that can be achieved?
    Thank you.

    Hi Thomas,
    For these kind of issues you will get many answers if you search the forum.
    If your requirement is to display the current date in the form, just drag and drop the "Current date" UI element from the Library palette -> Custom.
    If it is to get the date from SAP and display, pass date to the context node and just drag and drop the field into the form from the data view.

    Use an 'if' condition, check the value and based on the value you can make the field hide/visible in the form.
    Hope this will help.

  • Number fields filter in ADF

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 and ADF-BC in my project.
    I have an query on how adf filter works for wild card characters '*' and '_' number fields and string fields.[Typically 'Number' and 'Varchar2' fields in DB].
    For Number fields, for example if my table has data 9.99 say for column price, when I give filter criteria as 9 , the query gets executed as select * from table where pricing = v_bind_1 [ v_bind_1 = 9]
    and does not fetch any data as per query.When I give filter criteria as 9*,then the query gets executed as select * from table where pricing LIKE v_bind_1 [v_bind_1 = 9%].
    But for string fields when I give filter criteria as N say for example EmpName column, then the query gets executed as select * from emp where EmpName LIKE v_bind_1 [v_bind_1 = N%].
    It behaves differently for string and number fields.
    Is this the standard behavior in ADF ??
    Also please point me to some docs which gives an insight on how filter is performed for different field types.
    Regards,
    Praveen

    Just a thought, for numbers filtering with operators like =,>,< makes more sense rather than using wildcards * or %. This might be the reason why the filtering differs for strings and numbers.

    How to execute a string formula and assign the result to a number field
    Hi,
    we have a function that returns a string like this:
    '(45+22)*78/23'
    After we should calculate this string and assign the value to a numeric block field
    Example:
    k number(16,3);
    k:=fun1('(45+22)*78/23'); where fun1 execute and translate to number the string.
    Does exist a function like fun1 ??
    How can we do ?
    Regards

    Hello,
    this is the code that does the job:
    SQL> set serveroutput on
    SQL> DECLARE
    2 ch VARCHAR2(20) :='22+10' ;
    3 i NUMBER ;
    4 BEGIN
    5 EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'select ' || ch || ' from dual' INTO i;
    6 dbms_output.put_line ('i = ' || TO_CHAR(i));
    7 END ;
    8 /
    i = 32
    Procédure PL/SQL terminée avec succès.

    just you have to do is to create a small stored function that take the string to calculate and return the number result

                     in MIGO the Serial number field and Structure are GOSERIAL-SERIALNO.but i was not able to find the Actucal Field name and table where i can get the values based on PO and Asset Number's?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    I'm looking at the same problem here. I found the table SER03 in which you can enter the the material document. This returns 1 line in this table and from this one you need the OBKNR element
    You can copy this data and paste it into table OBJK element OBKNR and this returns all serialnumbers for the relevant material document.
    My problem is that i can't get these items on the sapscript. (WESCHEINVERS 1,2 or 3)

    Hi Raghu,
    Check table SER01(Document Header for Serial Numbers for Delivery).
    OBJK is the object table and you will have SERNR as serial number in this table.
    check table EQUI
                          EQUI -SERGE
                          EQUI-GERNR.
    EQUI-SERGE is Manufacturer serial number.chk if this is the one u r looking for.
    MARC-SERNP.
    key in plant and material in this table to fetch the Serial number profile of the material.
    Check in IKPF AND ISEG Tables... ( inventory )

    Hi All,
    What is the relationship b/w the PO number field in the SO creation screen(va01) and the sales order .
    Can we maintain a specific number range for the PO Number??
    If yes where do we maintain the setting?
    Cheerzz..
    Subbz..

    Hello,
    This is nothing to do with a SAP purchase order, and you can't maintain any number range for the same as it is not a system proposed one.
    Imagine, the customer is sending a purchase order to you, and you are creating a sales order. We can give a reference to the customers PO number in this filed. It doesn't have any effect.
    It is widely used in reporting.

  • BI UDI data load conflict using MS SQL Server and date fields

    Hi BW Experts!
    We have found some unexpected problems when we are trying to perform a data extraction process from an SQL database (non-SAP application).
    We are using the BI UDI tool (JDBC Driver/Connector).    The basic data extraction works properly, however we have some specific problems to work with SQL Server fields defined as “Date Time”.
    The JDBC driver automatically intermediate the communication and translate these fields splitting the original SQL date time field into two separated fields with suffix “_D” (for date) and “_T” (for time).
    It works perfect for extraction, but it doesn’t work well when we try to restrict the data selection based on these fields.
    When we put a date selection into the infopackage data selection area (we already have tried several date formats), the system simply ignores these selection parameters and send a SQL statement without “WHERE” clause to DBMS.
    Please, anybody has experienced anything like this or know somethings that could help us?
    This is a standard limitation from SAP BI UDI?
    Thanks in advance and best regards,

    Hi Matt and Thomas
    Many thanks for your replies.
    Yes I have to do the join. Even worse I have to write an Aggregate query like this!
    Select o.F1,o.F2, m.F1,m.F2, count(*)
    from
    table@oracleServer o,
    table@microsoftSQLServer m
    where o.F1=m.F1
    group by o.F1,o.F2, m.F1,m.F2;
    These are 2 different systems (hardware & software) which actually do the same job, they produce transactions for a common business entity. Kind of, both sell tickets for the same ABC ferry company.
    I can not put them side by side on the dashboard, as I need to aggregate the data and present it maybe in a Oracle BI Report for Accounting and Financial reconciliation purposes.
    The truth is, as it is. I can't change it, is too late.
    I have to device a way to harvest both systems as they are. I don't want to move around data. I thought looking at Oracle BI I could write SQL against multiple Data Sources. I am struggling to find a way. As it seems that it can "SQL query" 1 data source at a time.
    I have been hinted on another forum (OracleTURK) to use Oracle Transparent Gateways and Generic Connectivity. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14232/toc.htm
    Shame, I have to pay licenses for OWB and Oracle Transparent Gateways. I thought DB vendors can do better. Why do I have to pay to access the other 50% of the market.
    I can understand the performance implications this might have. Because of it I might even be forced at the end to move data (ETL) into a separate database, slice it into partitions and manage it that way. Pitty because currenlty I only need one report out of these systems but seems like will be dear to get.
    Thank you for all your help.

  • Declaring a Number field with specific number of digits and without

    Hai Everybody.
    I have a small doubt. At the time of creating a Table with column as Number data type, if i do not specify the length of digits, what it will take by default. What are the advantages and disadvantages of declaring the number field without specifying the length.
    For example:
    Create Table temp1 (col1 number);
    Create Table temp1 (col1 number(6));
    What is the difference between both the above statements. With the First Statement, what is the maximum number the table will accept.
    Which one is better in terms of resource optimisation like alloting the memory space or processing speed or any other resources.
    Pl clerify me.

    NUMBER (6) means an integer, with no more than 6 digits. If you INSERT 12.345, it will automatically get rounded to 12. If you try to INSERT 1234567, it will raise an error.
    The default value is NULL in both cases, unless you specify otherwise.

    As in so many things, you get what you pay for. If you want the ability to handle larger or more precise NUMBERs, you pay for it in more storage space and less speed.
