Gnome toolbar icons disappearing

Hi everyone, I run Arch with Gnome. In the toolbar, under places and system, most of the icons are missing. I haven't done anything, as usual. What's up?
This is what it looks like:
Any ideas?
Thanks!

  • CS5 Fireworks - Main Toolbar Icons Disappear

I had a hard disk crash and once the HD was replaced I reinstalled Fireworks.  Ever since the main toolbar icons disappear whenever I try to use the main toolbar... very frustrating!  When I grab the toolbar and move it around I can see the icons but as soon as I drop it the icons disappear.  Any ideas on how to fix this?  I have downloaded installed the latest upgrades.

You can just drag things out of the dock and they will disappear. Those are only aliases or shortcuts, anyway, and very easy to replace. Just open your applications folder and drag the Word program's icon into the dock to create a new shortcut, then do the same thing with the Skype icon.
EDIT Be sure not not stop enroute to the dock, or you will just move the program to wherever you let go of the mouse button.

Quark 8.5.1 toolbar and pallette icons disappear in OS 10.7.3. Is there a fix? Thanks in advance.

A massive thanks from me too after discovering the problem when I started work this morning at 2.30am - not something you need that time of day!  Did exactly as written and bingo,  missing tool icons appeared BUT, and there's always a but...
I have THE SAME problem in Quark with some of the static areas in the measurement (F9) bar. Can anyone suggest what might fix this? I have restarted just ONCE after turning on Extension Manager at start-up.
    Hardware:
Apple Macintosh MacPro 2x2GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    RAM: 6Gb (667MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM)
    HDD's (internal): 1x160Gb / 1x500Gb / 2x1500Gb

  • Regarding the fix for Quark 8.5.1, toolbar icons disappearing in OS 10.7.3...

Had this problem and sorted it out fine thanks (massive thanks) to this forum.
HOWEVER... a number of other palettes are suffering the same problem in Quark 8.5 - the core measurement bar, usage window (when checking checking fonts, pics etc). The restart hasn't fixed these other bits, anyone got any ideas???

There may be a (sort of) solution  for this problem for Quark 9.2 described by Alf Rosland here (about 14 messages down):
http://forums.quark.com/t/27664.aspx?PageIndex=7 that could conceivably work for Quark 8 too. It references a Capture One problem and solution here: http://forum.phaseone.com/En/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=11852 which is supposed to also work for Quark. Since I'm still using Snow Leopard, I can't say if this works, let alone if it works for Quark 8.5 too, or what the side-affects are, but since Quark has made clear that any solutions coming from Quark for this problem will only address Quark 9 (read up in the first link for Quark's position on what's supported), Capture One's fix may be as good as it gets. However, use at your own risk.
Since it deals with OpenCl support in video cards and Capture One's fix disables the Mac drivers for it, perhaps finding and recovering OS 10.7.2 drivers from a Time Machine backup might work too but that's something for the experts to work on...

  • CS4 and 3rd party plugins - icons disappear

I'm having problems with CS4 on Vista 64bit with 3rd party plugins. I'm aware that 64bit issues exist but even on the 32bit CS4 Photoshop's toolbar icons disappear once Nik, OnOne etc are installed. I've left CS2 installed as well on the same system and this works fine.
This could be a problem with for the 3rd party developers of course but obviously CS4 has changed something.
I have Vista 64bit with 8gb RAM. Disabling the GPU functions doesn't help nor does running CS4 in XP compatibility mode. Removing the plug ins is the only way to resolve the problem.
Just wondering if anyone else has hit this problem and even better found a solution to it.

I think I can recall the behavior being confirmed for Nik and they are working on a fix/ update. The situation may be the same for other tools/ vendors, so you'll probably have to live with it for a moment or resort to using older versions of PS...

  • When I select Toolbar-Customize and the options box opens, the Navigation Bar icons disappear.

Two questions: 1) When I select Toolbar, then Customize, the box with the toolbar options opens, but my Navigation bar icons disappear, so I can't add the spaces, bars, etc. to it. How do I fix that? 2) I can reposition the icons in the Navigation bar without being in Customize, with the exception of the Search Address box. How do I reposition the Search Address box? Thanks.

Opening in the Sidebar is the default action for bookmarks that are created via a "Bookmark this Page" link or button on a website. Make sure you use the many "Bookmark this Page" methods that are in Firefox instead.
Right-click those bookmarks and select '''Properties''', then un-check the preference for '''Load this bookmark in the sidebar''', and then click Save.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • I moved the "stop load" X icon to the left along with the refresh and home icons, after which the X icon disappeared even though the other stayed ok.

The "stop load" X icon disappeared from my navigation toolbar and I don't see it in the available icons in the customize window to add it back.

Did you also look at all of your toolbars while in customize?
You could use the keyboard shortcuts and avoid the problem altogether.

  • Export PDF icon disappears on IR runtime version in Workspace

    Hello,
We have implemented Hyperion BI+ 9.3.1. We are faced with a peculiar issue in Production and I am hoping that someone can shed some light.
We have developed a bqy document that has dashboards. This document when published in it's original format (uncompacted) in Workspace, displays the Export PDF icon on the report toolbar; however, if we create a runtime version of this document (using Dashboard Studio) and publish the runtime version in Workspace, the Export PDF icon disappears.
We have been trying to see if we can enable this icon on the toolbar using Javascripts in the Dashboard's Script section and have been unsuccessful.
Have any of you encountered this or does anyone know if we are attempting to enable a feature that just cannot be enabled in the runtime version?
Any help or insight is much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rajesh

We found a solution to this issue. When creating a runtime version of the bqy using Dashboard Studio, Step 7 (Properties) has several Toolbars properties (LAN Client and Plug-in) that are by default set to False. When we set these Toobar properties (especially LAN Client) to True, the Export PDF icon displays on the runtime version in Workspace.
The documentation (IR Volume 5) was misleading. It described Plug-in to be Web Browser/Thin Client and LAN Client as the Client environment leading us to initially believe that the LAN Client settings will have no effect in Workspace.
I am posting this in case someone else runs into this issue.
    Thanks
    Rajesh

  • Gnome battery icon and 'Could not change DPMS mode'

    Hello,
I run my Arch with latest Gnome (3.2.1) and lately, my battery icon disappeared. Then, after some reboot it showed again (without changes to configuration, packages etc), and now its gone again, for good it seems.

Ok, I reinstalled gdm, added my user to the video group and so far it seems to be working properly, so thank you very much.
Now I just need to see if it will stick that way, since it seems to come and go somewhat randomly.
And btw, I use the presentation mode shell extension, but disabling it did not have any effect.
    EDIT:
Ok, it seems the source of the problem was this little addon to /etc/gdm/Init/Default, that I used to launch synergy in GDM:
    /usr/bin/killall synergyc
    while [ $(pgrep -x synergyc) ]; do sleep 0.1; done
    /usr/bin/synergyc 192.168.0.2
Since synergy controls the display power state, it would add up.

  • My graphics toolbar has disappeared (FrameMaker 11 on Windows 7).

My graphics toolbar has disappeared (FrameMaker 11 on Windows 7).
In View > Toolbars, the Graphics Toolbar item is checked.
Clicking Graphics > Tools does nothing whatsoever.
HELP!  I need to get the graphics toolbar back.

Matt, Thanks for responding.  I finally found the graphics toolbar. It was docked--and hidden--in the row at the top with all the other shortcut icons. It was so far on the right that it was out of sight. It was revealed only after I (accidentally) stretched the FrameMaker window way out to the right and into my second monitor.  I apparently docked the toolbar there without realizing I'd done it.

  • My firefox toolbar has disappeared and a stupid Yahoo one is there now

I went on Firefox tonight and my toolbar has disappeared and been replaced by a Yahoo one. There are no icons at the top, no Firefox icon, and my bookmarks are gone. I didn't do anything! Help!

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: command+Shift+F).<br />
If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.<br />
You can click the Maximize button at the top right to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key to make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • Toolbar images disappearing

I'm trying to understand if this issue is something to do
with the viewer or if it's something to do with how the developers
hooked up the help. When the online help is opened from the help
folder or from the software menu, the Hide/Show, Options, and
custom button icons appear just fine. When the online Help is
opened from dialog boxes that developers have just created (in
.net), the button icons disappear. In other words, in some cases
the icons show up and in others they don't.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks a mil.

    Hi, ecoulyn,
This is compiled HTML Help (.chm), based on your previous
    posts to this forum?
In that case, yes, there are some circumstances in which
context help calls can result in the button images disappearing
from the toolbar of the help window. For example, I think this will
happen when you use the DHTML showHelp method (which I don't
suppose would be true in your case).
I think the solution to your problem probably lies in the
hands of your developers, so you may want to refer them to the
following resources on using HTML Help with .NET applications:
    Standard .NET methods (HelpProviders):
