Graphs in Discoverer 4i Desktop... URGENT !

I am working with Discoverer4i Desktop edition and want to create Dual-Y Charts.
But I don't find any such option. The documentation of Discoverer4i Desktop also doesn't state if any such facility is available while the documentation of Discoverer4i Plus states many other graph features including Dual-Y charts.
Does Discoverer 4i Desktop graph have less features then Discoverer 4i Plus edition ?

I've seen this question asked many times and never seen it answered. (or to be more accurate, I never see any question on graphs answered.) seems eveyrone has trouble with the graphs but I never see an answer.

  • Newbie Question - Distribution Graphs in Discoverer

    Hi there,
I don't seem to be able to produce simple population distribution graphs in Discoverer (10g) Desktop or Plus. I'm trying to graph something as simple as #Students over Age from a simple corresponding table.
Discoverer is not presenting me with options to select the source of Y axis and X axis values with (for example) a Fit to Curve graph type. All Discoverer does is assume that each of your columns are seperate series' which it will graph on the same page.
Any advice is most welcome - I'm sure there's something simple that I'm not doing right...
    Thanks
    Dennis

Hi. Did you ever resolve this issue? I have not used this version before and cannot fathom why you cannot amend x or Y axis sources. For example, we have added the percentages to a report between compliant and non compliant spend. We want to represent the trend of the percentages in a graph. However, we cannot because the data being picked up is the spend on the Y axis, not the percentages.
    Any ideas?

  • I cant see the graph in discoverer viewer whith was created in the desktop

    Hi,
         I need your help!! I have a problem to see a graph in Discoverer viewer. I will detail you the steps that I follow;
It was a difficult calculate report to results by Discoverer so, I create a view in the data base which show 3 field, Periodo(number) which is a union whit other field from other folder, State(varchar), Requirement(number).
From the discoverer desktop y have a crosstab worksheets and a graph, there I can see it without problem, but in the Discoverer viewer I can see the graph.
I tried to set the worksheets options in “show options” to show me the graphs too, but this options didn’t appeared there. Somebody know what I should have to do to see it?
    On the other hand I changed the “show null values show” option since null to empty, and when I wanted to save the change this error appeared;
“Oracle BI Discoverer don’t had to found the necessary values to show the events…”
    Thanks for your help!
    Regards
    Dora

    Hi Dora,
The graphs that you create using Discoverer Plus will show nicely in Viewer. Everything you develop in Pluys works in Viewer. They are companion products.
You must realize that Discoverer Plus/Viewer and Desktop are two seperate product sets and they use different techniques for graph creation. There are other differencies between the two that suggests that you need to develop all reports using Discoverer Plus in stead of Discoverer Desktop.
I have experienced workbook created in Plus being destroyed when opened and saved using Desktop. So for a long time I have simply forgotten all about Desktop. If your company is relying on both Viewer and Dersktop I suggest that the time has come to change strategy and technique.
If you need sparring please mail to [email protected]
    Good Luck!
    Cheers

  • Discoverer 11g Desktop  - Error

    Environment: R12.1.1 E-Business Suite
    Discoverer 11g Desktop
I installed Discoverer 11g Desktop on XP Mode in Windows 7.
When I click on OK after entering user name and password, I get the error message, Missing application security library fndpu115.
10g works fine on Windows XP. I'm wondering there is a difference between native windows XP vs XP mode in Windows 7.
    Any thoughts or comments?
    Thanks,

Hi, just ran into the same problem today with the Windows 7 machine. Installed Windows Virtual PC and installed Discoverer BI and Discoverer BI Admin. (11.1.1.1). Came up with
two problems. First problem was it couldn't find msvcr71.dll. So I searched for it on my virtual xp machine and copied it over to c:\oracle\product\11.1.1\as_1\bin directory. Then the next problem was Missing Applications Security Library: fndpu115. I did some reading and found that I needed to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (SP1) (x86) on the virtual machine. I was then able to log into discoverer. Hope this helps everyone as a workaround.

  • Graph  for a query output---urgent

    Hi,
My requirment is to have a report which shows top 3 cubes based on number of records for each week.I also have to plot this in a graph
the graph should be as follows
Y axis : No of records
X axis : Cubes which are grouped based on week.ie Suppose top 3 cubes for
    Week 1 is c11,c12,c13
    and
    Week 2 is c21,c22,c23
    then graph should show
    no of records on Yaxis
    and
    C11,c12,c13 as one series and
    c21,c22,c23 as second series.
I tries this but Xaxis is showing either C11,c12,c13  or
                                                          c21,c22,c23
since we cannot give values  to X axias on a series basis.
Please suggest a way to solve it or a different approch for th above requirment
    Please help this urgent....

    Hi,
I think you need to develop multiprovider over 3 cubes. Build a single query on this multiprovider and then plot the graph.
Other way you can try Excel Macro to plot the graph.
    Hope it helps.

  • Discoverer Plus desktop

I want to download Discoverer Plus to work with Oracle 10g but I can not find it on the Oracle website - what is the url to download Oracle Discoverer PLus client.
Ive built cubes and they work fine with AWM ( i can see the data etc ) but do not work with 10iAS Discoverer Plus so hopign they work with Discoverer PLus client.

Which 10g AS version is this? Discoverer Plus is not downloadable in that sense. You install and run Plus as an applet from Oracle AS instance (accessed via url e.g. http://server:port/discoverer/plus).
Maybe you are looking for Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer (Plus) for OLAP, which is part of the AS 10.1.2 suite. (do you have an older "10g" version?)
DS 10.1.2 downloads has a BI Tools CD, including Discoverer Desktop Edition (this is what the "thick" client is called). dont know if it handles cubes. Desktop also comes in a standalone install, if you dont need the whole dev tools suite.

  • Error when connecting to an EUL via Discoverer Desk Desktop

    Dear Friends
I am trying to connect to a EUL via the Discover Desktop version 9.0.4.00.00, Desktop Client 9.0.4.43.17 (part of Developer suit 10gDS) but keep getting error message like:
    Unable to connect to <user>@database
End User Layer Table Version 5.1.1.0.0.0 requires End User Layer Library of at least version 10.1.2.45.20.0
Does anyone know why? Please help ..
    Thanks & Rgds,
    Tim

    Hi,
This is because your EUL has a later incompatible version and was created using Discoverer Administrator 10g. Either create a 9.0.4 EUL or upgrade to Desktop Client 10g.

  • Error in discoverer 9i desktop

    Hi all,
I am using discoverer 9i (9.0.2 to be specific) on windows 2000. I have created a few users and each user has his own EUL. coming to the problem, some users I have created get the error "unable to connect to database" after logging into discoverer desktop and when they are trying to create a new report. The usernames, password and conect string are correct as I am able to connect to sql with the same details.
Also, when they try to re-open a saved workbook, they receive a message "unabel to load eul item. Do you want to continue?"
can anybody help me with this problem.
    thanks and regards,

    Hmm
Are you sure the user has been a) granted access to the End User tool and b) has access to the business area(s) concerned?
Are you trying to access Desktop on the same machine as Administrator? If so, they should use the same registry settings. If not and the users only have a copy of Desktop is it possible that the registry could have become corrupt in the Discoverer area?
Is the user a local administrator on the machine? If not then Discoverer will be unable to edit the registry and will be unable to set the default EUL. Let's assume the answer is yes - the user is a local administrator.
When the user connects you say you see blank for the default EUL. This would explain why the user sees no business areas / items. Therefore, let's try assigning a manual default. To do this you will need the following information to hand:
    1. Username as keyed into Discoverer - Eg. MSMITH
    2. The EUL they are to connect to - E.g. EUL_US
    3. The TNS entry they select in the database box - E.g. PROD
    Here's a workflow:
    1. From the Start button, select Start | Run
    2. In the Run dialog box, type REGEDIT and click the OK button
    3. Expand the folder called HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    4. Navigate to the folder HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    | Software | Oracle | Discoverer 9 | Database
    5. Click on the folder called Database
    6. In the right hand window you should see an ab entry called AEUL_MSMITH_PROD? The words MSMITH and PROD correspond to the username and TNS connection
    7. If this entry does exist but the entry in the column called Data is incorrect or has nothing, proceed to step 10
    8. If the entry AEUL_MSMITH_PROD does not exist, right-click in the column called Data and from the pop-up select New | String Value.
9 You will see an entry called New Value #1 - replace this with AEUL_MSMITH_PROD (replacing MSMITH with the real username and PROD with the TNS entry - both in uppercase) and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
    10. Right-click on AEUL_MSMITH_PROD and from the pop-up select Modify.
    11. In Value Data type the name of the EUL you want the user to connect to by default (in uppercase). E.g. EUL_US
    12. Click the OK button
    13. Close Regedit and launch Discoverer Desktop
    Does this help?

  • Discoverer 11g Desktop installation for E-Business Suite 12.1.3

    Hi All,
Is it possible to just create an EUL in my E-Business Suite 12.1.3 database (DB version is 11g R2) and use the latest version of Discoverer Desktop to connect to it and generate reports without having to install Fusion Middleware?
    Thanks,
    Sinan

    Hi Michael,
The question is answered, so thank you. Since it is related, I want to ask the question here:
    I installed
Oracle BI Discoverer Administrator - version 11.1.1.3.0
Oracle BI Discoverer Desktop - version 11.1.1.3.0
I was able to export from an old version (4i) and import it into a newly created EUL in my E-Business Suite 12.1.3 database (DB version 11.2.0.2 64-Bit), so I am able to login with the EUL user in Administrator, but I am not able to connect with an Application User using Discoverer Desktop.
I followed the document "Using Discoverer 11.1.1 with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12 [ID 1074326.1]"
In Desktop -> Options -> Connections; "Connect to application EULs" is selected since the EUL I created was for Application Users ONLY.
    Gateway UserID/password: applsyspub/pub
    Foundation Name: apps
I get the infamous error message:
    "Unable to connect to: APPSUSERNAME@PROD
Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password."
If I change the option -> Connections to "Connect to both standard and applications EULs" I CAN login into Desktop using APPS/APPS@PROD or EUL5_US/EUL5_US@PROD, but I cannot see any of the imported Workbooks from the database.
Can you please advise as to what maybe wrong? Is this version of Discoverer certified with 12.1.3 on a 64-Bit Linux system? Could that be the reason?
    Thanks,
    Sinan

  • Creating Graphs In Discoverer

I am attempting to create a graph from a 2 column report in discoverer. One column is a table column (cycle_time) and the other is a calculation column (count(cycle_time)). I want to get the count on the x axis and the table column on the y axis and can't seem to find the way to do this.
I am sure I am missing something incredibly simple and would love it if someone could point it out to me.

  • Error in week number while running a discoverer reports. URGENT HELP NEEDED

    Hi All,
we had a requirement of getting the week number for the given date in one of the columns. Here the start date of the year was not always 1-jAN so we had to create a function which returns the week number as an output.
The problem that we are facing is we are using the Discoverer 4.1.41.05 both at my end and user end. While i am trying to run the report i am getting the right output but while with the same login id when user is trying to get the output he is getting correct data till the data in year 2009 and from 2010 onwards the answer for the week number is coming in lacks. I had suggested the user to re-install the discoverer but still the issue is there.
If someone know something about this than please reply to the thread and also mail me on [email protected]
    Thanks,
    Sarang.A.Mehta

I might be late in replying, but hope it might help.
From your query it seems you are inserting records into interface tables and then calling process order API( probably from some PL/SQL block).
This is where I am confused, because I hope you understand, that interface tables are for use with Order Import concurrent Program, and for Process ORder API, you need to provide the data as parameter. The api has, header record type and line table type as parameters. So you need to assign correct data to these variables and pass them as parameter when you are calling Process Order API.
If you are doing the same thing, then post the exact pl/SQL code and error message from the API. That might help diagnose the issue.

  • Create runing sequence in discoverer report(desktop)

    Hi All,
I want to show running sequence according to the record number
in discoverer report , How to do ?
    Thank you
    Mcka

    Hi
A running sequence is a ranking, with RANK being one of the analytic functions. In order to create a ranking though you would need to tell Discoverer which item is to be ranked and what, if any restart points there are such as Page Items and Group Sorts.
    A typical syntax would be:
RANK() OVER(PARTITION BY Customer ORDER BY Profit DESC )
This ranks profit in descending order, with the highest profit ranked 1, restarting the ranking on each change of Customer. The Customer would typically either by a Page Item or a Group Sorted item. If you have multiple Page Items and / or Group Sorted items I generally include them all in the PARTITION BY section of the function.
If the above function was in a workbook, you would want to have at least one additional dimensional data item such as Product, otherwise if you only had Customer and the calculation each customer would be ranked 1. To see a ranking of Customers you can remove the PARTITION BY clause like this:
RANK() OVER(ORDER BY Profit DESC )
    Does this help?
    Regards
    Michael
