Guitar lessons on GarageBand 08' ???

i cant seem to find where you get the 'lessons'. Im interested in seeing what they have to offer but when i open it up all i see is "create new project" "open existing project" "create new podcast" and "magic garageband" Am i missing something??

No video playback in guitar lessons in GarageBand '11

When I go into the Guitar Lessons in GarageBand '11, everything seems to work except the video playback. No audio issues with the lessons (or any noticable issues with the tuning section). None of the lessons have video playback. I have even re-downloaded each lesson with no luck. Hopefully this isn't due to my OS version (Snow Leopard), but I have a feeling it could be part of the problem. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome.

I am strictly an Elements Windows user, but I do try to find common ground between Premiere Elements 12 Windows and Mac as a first pass at troubleshooting issues like the one your present.
1. What are the properties and duration of your source media?
Video compression
Audio compression
Frame Size
File Extension
Frame Rate
Interlaced or Progressive
Pixel Aspect Ratio
Brand/Model/Settings for Camera which recorded the video would help.
2. What did you or the program set as the project preset based on a match of project preset with properties of the source media?
3. What have you done in the way of edits after which you have problems? What is the duration of the TImeline at that point? Is this a multi track project?
Please explain "playback stops"
a. The TImeline Indicator will not move from the start of the Timeline when you press Play in the Edit area monitor?
b. Playback stops after playing back about few seconds of the Timeline content
c. Other
Do you have the Work Area Bar gray tabs set to span the whole content of the Timeline?
When you are playing back your Timeline in the Edit area monitor, does your Timeline content have an orange, green, or no colored line
over its duration?
4. Are you running a dual or single computer monitor setup? If you right click the Edit area monitor and select Playback Quality is there any
difference in the problem whether you set for Highest instead of Automatic?
5. For this type of video and this type of project, would you class this problem as
"it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before".

GarageBand - guitar lesson 1 is no longer in the lesson store. Why?

Am I the only one that sees this anomaly?
Lesson 1, for guitar (Intro to Guitar), is missing from the lesson store! I am unable to download it on ANY of the 5 macs at my house. What happened? The only lessons available are 2 thru 9 (8 total). There used to be 9 lessons in GarageBand '09. That intro video was perfect for beginners.

I am seeing the same. Only lesson 2 to 9 are showing.
Perhaps they removed it, because it comes automatically with any new GarageBand installation and it should not be necessary to download it again.
If you still have lesson 1 on one of your macs or in an older backup, restore it to your System Library. The lessons are installed in
/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Learn to Play/Basic Lessons

Garageband'11 Guitar Lessons Latency

Unfortunately this update that happend yesterday didn't fix the issue. So lets go down a check list of things that have been suggested. Hopefully apple will find the problem quick!
*My Imac:*
2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SD RAM. and about 50GB of space left.
I dont have applications running in the background, only Garageband .
I'm using a Hosa 1/4 In USB Guitar Cable, yeah its a piece of crap, i read reviews about other USB Audio interfaces like Alesis GuitarLink AudioLink Series 1/4-inch-to-USB Cable or Behringer UCG102 Guitar-to-USB Interface and they all report the same thing. It might be because they are cheap, but I think it's a software issue since the latency can be reset, otherwise I think it would be there constantly.
*This is what I've done for Settings outside of Garageband'11:*
(USB PnP Sound Device is my Electric Guitar.)
FileVault is OFF.
Preferences > Sound >Input> Internal Microphone>input level (slid it to 0 so that the mic wont catch the guitar sound and send it to garageband.)
Preferences > Sound > USB PnP Sound Device > input volume is 0.
Applications>Utilities>Audio Midi> USB PnP Sound Device (it's the same thing as Preferences>Sound>... 1 controls the other). So Master Volume is also 0.
Preferences > Energy Saver > "...Disk to sleep" is unchecked. same with "...reduce brightness"
*Settings Inside Garageband'11:*
I tried deleting com.apple.garageband.plist several times as a temporary fix, same with switching from internal mic back to USB PnP Sound Device Temporary fix, after 2 or 3 takes with the guitar lessons the latency comes back.
Garageband>How to Play>Guitar>lesson 6(that where I noticed it the most)>setup> Input lvl is 0 (I tried playing around with the slider, no dice, still comes back) Monitor is "On" with feedback protection.
Garageband>Preferences>Midi> audio output> "System Setting"
audio input>"USB PnP Sound Device"
Basically all the settings are set to a minimum to give the system as much of a boost as possible....still that $%#$ Latency comes back. I'm close to taking the best possible solution called "the window treatment" were it's all thrown down a couple of flights. is there anything else that can be done for a permanent solution?

What exactly is the problem (what do you do, and what is the resulting sound)?
Can you list exact steps how you get it to occur and steps to get rid of it?
By "PnP" do you mean "plug 'n play", which I guess would mean the audio input device you're using is class-compliant (i.e., it doesn't have its own driver)?
I use a very similar setup - a class-compliant USB input device but built-in audio output at the same time, and the 6.0.1 release fixed the latency problem I had - which I saw more with guitar tracks, not in the LTP lessons.

Can't download Basic Guitar Lesson 3 from GarageBand Store.

Hallo. I have a problem with downloading Basic Guitar Lesson 3, i click on it and it says that "download can't be completed, ask Service..." Did somebody have this problem? Are there some solutions for this problems? Thank you...

try throwing out your GB preferences and Caches, and see if that clears out the problem and enables the download.
alternatively, try going to the Lesson Store and click Change Country at the bottom right, and choose a different country.

Garageband Guitar Lesson Downloads Can't Complete

Is anyone else having issues downloading guitar lessons? I have three lessons that won't complete. I am using a MacBook Pro running OSX Lion and all software is up to date. I can't complete one download in each of the three guitar lessons categories.

If you are getting this error when trying to download to the computer, try the following.
Install the latest iTunes.
Remove the SC Info folder.

Guitar Lesson 2 - Audio file not found

This is the error I receive when I try to load "Guitar Lesson 2" of the "Learn to Play" lessons. (Audio file "Guitar2GTRs2MiXv3.caf" not found.) I've tried deleting and re-downloading the lesson several times. I found the missing file but only when I browse to it myself, nothing appears in Spotlight. This is the only lesson I'm having this problem with. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for referring me to the proper thread. It works fine now. I was deleting only the downloaded lesson not the cached lesson file. Hopefully Apple will check into this.

2. Goto /Users/<your username>/Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Working Copies
3. Delete the Guitar Lesson 2_Chords - G, C
4. Start GarageBand up and enjoy Lesson 2.

How can I stop and remove a downloading guitar lesson?

I started to download a free GB guitar lesson but then noticed the download would be 300MB which is much too big for my capped broadband.
I paused it but every time GB opens it asks whether I want to continue downloading.
I don't and I am worried it may accidentally start downloading.
So how can I stop it and remove it for good so it will never resume downloading?

I think I may have managed it.
I have deleted the GB preferences in Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.garageband.plist.
When I opened GB I got the "Welcome" screen and there was no sign of a message asking me to download.
If anyone can confirm that this has actually permanently stopped that download I would be grateful.

Problem with downloading Guitar Lesson 5

I have problems with downloading Guitar Lesson #5. I was able to successfully able to download all other lessons, but when I try to downloadat Lesson #5, this error constantly occurs:
"GarageBand was not able to complete download."
I'm curious about how to download this lesson. Thank you for your help.

I had problems downloading John Legend's piano lesson. It downloaded but quit while installing. And then it tried reinstallling after each bootup of Garageband. I finally found the location where Garageband wants to install these files: root>Library>Application Support>Garageband>Learn to Play>Artist Lessons. I deleted that last directory. After restarting the lessons finally installed. It seems as though Garageband created this folder again as I had expected and the .mwand file with the lesson got installed. Now everything works fine. Hope this helps you too as nobody at Apple (after sales) seemed to know how to help me.

Where can I download the first guitar lesson. It is supposed to come preinstalled but I don't have it. How can I get it?

One of the reasons I upgraded to GarageBand 11 was that I wanted to use the tutorials and the free lessons. But although I've been able to download all the free tutorials, I am missing the first one that is supposed to come preinstalled. Can somebody tell me where or how can I get the "Intro to guitar lesson" that I am missing?

I have this problem as well. All the other lessons are there, but not the first one. I see 5 or 6 threads here about this but no replies. What's the deal?

Problems during download of the basic lessons of Garageband

I have a new macbook pro, 4 gb ram, snow leopard installed, all the update done (also for garageband ver. 5,1).......i can't download the lesson n° 9 of the basic lesson of garageband......all the other start without problems (piano and guitar) but, when i try to download the n° 9 of the piano the message is: Garageband can't do the download, go to the apple store (?the store) for help......i go to the apple store but i find only discussion on this forum. The link in this forum where download directly the lesson doesn't work......! have you a new website adress or a help for me?

It sounds like all of these issues may be related. I would recommend completely uninstalling and removing iTunes and all related components. The following article will explain how to do so in Windows XP:

Downloading Guitar Lesson 1

hi my name is Tom and i stupidly deleted my copy of the first guitar lesson that comes with garageband on the ilife package and i really need it back so i didn't empty my trash and i keep regular backups with time machine. if anyone could help me get it back or download another copy i will love u forever

go to this directory on your hd "/Library/Application Support/Garageband/Learn to Play". In the directory "Basic Lessons" are the files you have downloded. You can delete them with administrator rights.
