Has anyone been able to install the java edition?

I've been trying for the past 3 days to install the sneak preview Java edition.
I've tried it on two machines.
1. Windows 2003, 1Gig RAM, 80GB HD, +min. requirements
2. XP Pro, 1Gig RAM, 60GB HD, +min. requirements
Nothing works. The install always stops at "load database content".
If anyone has sucessfully installed the Java version, I'd like to hear from you.

Here's my latest attempt at installing this preview. I'll write every step I'm taking just to make sure we are on the same page. By the way, I'm putting a lot of efforts into this because my company is hesitating between SAP and Oracle as a portal engine. My task is to come up with a demo asap. So needless to say any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Install JDK (j2sdk1.4.2_08)

Start the SAP Install

You can do what you want, but you must erase your phone to do it. Just restore the phone using iTunes and set it up as a New phone. As it is new you can install whatever content you want to, then make an unencrypted backup of it.
The reason you can't change your mind once you have an encrypted backup is to protect your private data. If it was possible to uncheck Encrypt Backup, then back up your phone, anyone who stole or found your phone could do this and thus have access to your private data from the new backup.

I'd say the issue may be leaving it in direct sunlight. The temperature from the radiance of the sun could cook your iPad. But in that light, dude, its not a radio. Its a quality computing device capable of doing many thing, just not in direct heat. You might do better with a cd player?

I'm having a nightmare of a time getting WLS to install. 5.1 runs and installs
with no problem.
Isn't there a 'noinstall' option like the previous product versions?
I'm running win 2000 sp1 (pre 2) I've tried removing ALL my jdk's, but when I
try to install, I get a flicker of the installation window, then nothing.

Try this:
From the DOS prompt:
set PATH=c:\jdk1.2.2\bin;%PATH% (can use other 1.2 or 1.3 JVM)

I receive the below error when trying to pkgadd SUNWcest. I've tried it on 2 different boxes including a SB1K running Solaris 10. The file in question exists, permissions look O.K., etc. Nothing unusual in the README. Any thoughts? Can someone try reproducing this on your server? Is anyone using the cediag tools? Thanks.

Actually I want to use cediag on a v880 (8 CPU, 16GB RAM) running Solaris 8 (can't upgrade due to bureaucratic B.S.) but I wanted to test it first in a non-production environment. I don't have a spare 880 but I have tried it under both Solaris 8 and Solaris 10 on test boxes and get the same pkgadd installation error. I'm assuming this is a pkgadd error and has nothing to do with the actual cediag software itself since I can't even get the cediag software installed. I don't know if the pkgadd error is being caused by something in our environment here or is a fundamental flaw in the cediag installation package itself. I've never seen this particular error from pkgadd before.
The v880 started reporting sticky bit ECC errors recently but kept running. Although it was running, Solaris was "sickly" and running in a nondeterministic manner that made it very difficult to troubleshoot. I was really expecting it to either keep running normally while correcting that memory bit from parity until we replaced the faulty DIMM, or to panic and halt if it couldn't correct that bit. But that wasn't what happened and the result was considerable down time and troubleshooting until we replaced that DIMM. I would like to avoid that possibility in the future.
FYI. From "Solution 215045 : Sun Enhanced Memory DIMM Replacement Policy":
"Replace a DIMM when:
1. POST (when run at a level which actually tests memory) fails it.
2. For systems with Predictive Self-Healing (Solaris[TM] 10 Operating System(OS) and later, except on UltraSPARC II-based platforms), when the system tells you to."
So apparently even with Solaris 10, if you are running it on US2 platforms cediag is still relevant.
Q: Is Predictive Self-Healing an integral part of Solaris 10 or an optional package / add on?

Has anyone been able to use the ipad outside?

I have been unable to get my ipad to last longer than a song and a half outside before it shuts down and says it has to cool down before I can use it. I even put it in airplane mode so 3g and wifi are turned off and the only thing running is the iPod app. It is only 80 degrees outside, what a piece of crap. It is a 16gb w/ 3g and is only 3 days old. I was hoping to use it where ever I go, put if you can't use it outside in warm temperatures, what good is it even having 3g?

I would like to use DAQmx Hardware API Assistant to generate VB dot net 4.5 code in Visual Studio 2103. Ni says will only work up to VS 2012. Why can't the Hardware API code just be installed into VS 2013?

Has anyone been able to resolve the issue of burning CD's from itunes 11 in Windows 8?

Everytime it begins burning the CD it cancels it within a few seconds.

I just tried rendering our a much simpler scene and saving out an EXR.. Works fine..... but it doesn't seem to work with a more complicated scene....EXR of depth pass below.

HT3574 on the new iPAD 4G Verizon has anyone been able to make the Hotspot work with the USB Cable to a Windows 7 PC ?

On the new Ipad 4G (Verizon) - I am unable to Hotspot it with the USB Cable. I can do it with Wi-Fi and Blue Tooth just fine - but not directly connected from the iPad3 to a Windows 7 PC. It detects, it even opens up the Folder os that I can see the DCIM but no internet on the PC (but works fine using Wi-Fi or Blue Tooth hotspot). Any ideas ?

Attach the cable to your iPad and then to the USB, than go to settings chose the third option "personal hot spot" turn it on, a notification will pop up asking you if you want to use wifi or Bluetooth just select no and automatically work.

Today I received the same error that you all have been discussing. I tried selecting the DRM
and this did not work for me, though I'm glad it did for some. Here's what I did as a work-around. . .
Since iBooks Author did not have a problem with Videos, I simply used one of my video programs, ScreenFlow to turn the audio into a video file m4v. I added an image and extended the length or timing of the image to span the length of the audio file. Then exported as an .mov. I then opened QuickTime and opened the file and exported the file to iTunes.
You can use iMovie, Camtasia or any other progam that will allow you to export the audio as a movie file. Does this make sense? I hope this helps, at least in the short-term.

Has anyone been able to internet share when the internet source is a verizon USB modem?

I'm on a macbook 3,1 running OSX 10.6.8
internet is coming from a verizon USB modem/dongle model UMW190.
I have gone through the steps for internet sharing - created a network, etc.
My other devices (a roku box and an ipad) are able to see the wifi network i created. prompts for a password, and i'm able to connect with great signal strength, but no internet!
Tried every problem solving suggestion i could find on the messageboards.
No firewill. Changed the IP address. restarted, etc etc.
nothing can seem to get my internet working on the other devices.
If i leave it to automatic, the IP address i get starts with 169. and a message reads
"AirPort has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.156.212 and will not be able to connect to the Internet."
Could this be because the internet is coming from a USB dongle? Is my computer too old?
Has anyone been able to get their internet sharing working using a verizon USB dongle?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Update: For the heck of it, i tried connecting using my ipod touch - and it works! able to connect to the network and get on the internet.
(that was after i changed the IP from automatic 169 to the IP address of the USB modem.)

I pre-ordered via iPad app.
Got a reservation email.
Then finally got a Confirm Your Order email somewhat later.
However the link to confirm in that email takes me back to the pre-order pages.
Anyone having any success with the re-comfirm order email?

Myself and a few others seem to be having some problems using the ApplicationLoader to upload .ipa files that have been created in CS5. In my case I'm trying to patch a game that was built months ago and uploaded via the iTunesConnect websit (no longer an option)
Has anyone been able to successfully get anything submitted to the Apple store in the last few days?
If you follow this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/3129598#3129598 , you'll see the dramas we're having. Through a bit of tinkering, we can get the file read, but it brings up an "invalid certificate" message.
Adobe, is this something you guys are testing at the moment?

Matthew, thanks for your help. You hit the nail on the head.
Going through the whole certificate process again was required. That is, revoking the old certificates, generating a new CSR file, submitting it and then creating a new .p12 file.
Did this all through Windows using iBrent's tutorials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GteMgFvA1Y&feature=related quite helpful.

We are trying to pilot it but cannot find a way of allowing us to control the sequence of importing transports - it's fine for small single transports but we can't see how to control the order of multiple transports or how to re-transport specific indiviual transports.

You can but you have to install Rosetta from one of your (snow)leopard) disks. It's not a good idea if you don't know what you are doing. But it does work. There are some instructions online if you really want to give it a go. FCS2 is not native intel and Lion is not supporting PPC anymore. So while you can it is questionable if you should. Probably time to up or cross grade.
