Have I had a Kernel Panic?

I got home tonight and found the fan of my Rev A iMac G5 blasting at full speed and the machine was unresponsive so I had to switch it off at the back and reboot. Everything seems okay now.
Looking through my system log it looks like there was a power outage at same time as the last record in my System log. Is this just a crazy coincidence or has one triggered the other? I would have thought it obvious that the mac was shut off by the power outage but surely it would have switched straight off and not rebooted but it looks like it did reboot. Is this possible?
Also; how do I find out why the Kernel Panic happened? It's a fresh wipe/install from the weekend. I've searched for a crash.log but can't find it in the logs folder. In the System.log there doesn't seem to be anything describing the crash, the last few entries are:

Does this make any sense to anyone or am I being really dumb? This is a Rev A iMac and has had three very big repairs (logicboards, HD's, Power Supplies) but it was checked by an Apple repair guy last week and given a clean bill of health.

How can I reformat my hard drive if erase and partition don't work in disk utility and I get an error when I try to erase and install from the Leopard install disk? I have had several kernel panics, but the volume shows up in startup disk.

I have had several kernel panics on my iBook G4; the panic message shows up just after the desktop appears. Although the startup volume shows up in Startup Disk, the installation disk reports an error when I attempt an erase and install. Disk utility is unable either to erase or partition the hard drive. The hard drive shows up in disk utility, but the startup volume doesn’t HELP!!!

My Late 2013 Retina MBP had a Kernel Panic - not sure what the source is.

I have a recently-purchased Macbook Pro (late 2013, Retina, 13", 8GB RAM, 2.4 GB i5) that just had a kernel panic this afternoon. This is the first time I've had a kernel panic on this computer, so I don't know what the cause is. It's claiming that 'kextd' is the related process, but I don't remember having installed anything recently that would have a kernel extension attached to it. Maybe one of you might know what it's related to?

Had a Kernel Panic, now I've lots of apps crashing.

A couple of days ago I had a Kernel Panic when startying Pro Tools. The machine hasnt quite recovered since - Safari will start and give me a page and then crash the instant anything is asked of it. The Help Viewer, Sherlock and System Prefs have also done this though nothing like as much as Safari has.
I've bits of logs but I don't believe I have the one with the panic on after trying to lok through things myself. Am I best to get hold of a copy of all available logs and post them here and if need be, recreate the Panic? Its was upon starting Pro Tools that it happened but I'd run everything such as the repair pre-binding script.

I know thats not the Panic log but its all I've managed to send to myself so far (doing this of a works PC).
I've had Pro Tools working on this machine for a while but its only recently that this has happened. Last time led to an Erase and Install and I'd rather not go down that line again if it can be fixed. I've already done and archive and install to no effect and tried various hints of getting Safari going such as deleting the history.plist and so on.
As always any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hiya! Right, I've put Firefox on and tested it - stable as can be, not a problem with it.
I see System Profiler saying its writing the Safari crashes to a log with the corresponding name but can't find it in the logs. I can only find Kextcrash.log :s

@~Bee -Yep it was a full Panic with the grey lines of doom - I'm used to PT on occasion having caused them before but its running fine now with all kinds of Plug-In intensive sessions going on and I've not had any trouble since re-installing it a couple of nights back.

For some odd reason I'm not getting sound of of my hdtv/monitor.HELP? I uninstalled all the drives and apps I download. I moived files either to trash if not needed, and others to other external drives. I went into disk utility and did a repair disk permission and verify disk. Clean out junk files. Now my hdtv/monitor does not give me any sound, nor does my mac mini. Can someone please tell me what to do?

Select them. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the selection and click on the Move To Trash option. Do not attempt to drag them to the Trash. You may be asked to enter your admin password. Once you have removed them you have to restart the computer. I would then follow instructions below to be sure you have removed everything associated with the software:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead. Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

My laptop had a kernel panic.

Hi. I was just sitting there using virtualbox to run windows XP for some of my windows applications. Then it had a kernal panic. At the time the only things open were Safari, outlook, virtualbox and xchat azure. Here is the kernal log.

I am getting the same exact Kernel Panic - Issues are always related to when I sleep or dock/undock from Thunderbolt Display. - I am also running 10.7.4 - Had to re-install yesterday as I had numerous crashes working with any application right after I updated from System Updates to 10.7.4 - now it is stable after re-apply (Manual 10.7.4 Combo DL) and Fix Disk Permissions - but I am getting this Panic Now - What's Up with Lion these days?.....My Mac Lappy used to be bulletproof...I have the same exact Model as yours above so something with the updates is causing this.

The Kernal Panics had become so frequent that my iMac was becoming unusable. I do have a 2006 macBook that seemed to be behaving fine. I has all the same software except for the virus protection (the iMac has Intego VirusBarrier and the MacBook uses Symantec Antivirus). As has been noted in this discussion, I was beginning to suspect VirusBarrier might be the problem. But as indicated in my crash log (and noted here by several others) the Cisco VPN was being called out. Researched the VPN configuration that I was accessing and discovered that a new feature of the Anyconnect VPN software was a "web security" option that was not used on the VPN I was accessing. Before I switched virus protection, I uninstalled the VPN software and re-installed without the web security feature. It has been a week without kernal panics. I have had one crash that appeared to be related to Lotus Notes, but no kernal panics. For those of you wrestling with the same issue, may want to try this solution...

Apparently InterCheck is the Sophos scanner.
Uninstall Sophos > http://openforum.sophos.com/t5/Sophos-Anti-Virus-for-Mac-Home/Removing-Sophos-An ti-Virus-for-Mac-Home-Edition/td-p/37
Then restart your Mac. Hopefully no more kernel panics.
According to the Sophos system requirements, you should be able to run Sophos on Lion v10.7
If you want to have anti virus software installed, you can download ClamXav from the App Store. Might have better luck.

One month old macbook pro got hang(freeze) once, and kernel panic once: should i need to take some actions or its ok??

my macbook pro 13.3 (OS XLion 10.7.4) is one month old, few days ago it got freezed(hanged) at that time only 2 apps were running google chrome and xcode, i pressed power button (hold it for few seconds) to restrat.
Today when i opened the lid(as my mac was on sleep for last one hour- no apps except finder was running) i saw an error like this "mac encountered an error hold your power button for few seconds to restart......blah blah..something in other languages too", i think some where it used the word "kernel panic".
After restart mac said "your computer restarted because of a reason", below i have copy pasted the reason.
Please suggest me its(this behavior is) okie or should i take it to apple center?, also to note i have never played any game on my mac. Can any body suggest me why this kernel panic happened by seeing the reason below.

I have had a 15" Late 2011 model MBP since December and have never had a kernel panic.
If I do I would take it in for a check up.

Kernel Panic in Lion - not wifi related

Hi All
Have had my mac pro for over a year now. Updated to Lion on the first day and never really had any issues with it.
But recently had 5 kernel panics in 3 days and this has never happened before. In fact i have never had any kernel panics on this machine ever.

Start by uninstalling the software responsible for these extensions. Or you can boot into Safe Mode which will disable third-party extensions to see if that stops the panics. Most likely your problem is incompatible software.

Kernel Panic - Please Help!

Hi all,
I am having a problem with my Late 2009 27" iMac Intel Core i7. I am currently running the latest updated version of Lion (10.7.1).
I have been having Kernel Panic problems for a while and, having searched through various forums, have been unable to fix the problem.
Around 4 months ago my wife had our first Kernel Panic which instructed that our iMac should be powered off by pressing the button. This was whilst using Snow Leopard. I was working away at the time for a few months so did not know what might have caused it. This has been happening every now and then since this occassion. A couple of days ago I had a kernel panic which wasn't resolved by restarting the computer, which I did several times. I completely reinstalled Lion which seemed to temporarily fix it, but I have just had another Kernel Panic and would be very grateful for any advice.
I purchased my iMac new around 6 months ago, so the first issue happened just a couple of months after buying it. It has 2 x 2 GB RAM installed. I have not installed any of my own, I haven't even opened the cover! There seems to be no program or event that sets it off. My kernel panic occurred today when I was not even at my computer and therefore was not opening or closing any applications.
I have recently installed Lion on my system. I noticed initially that this caused problems with Wi Fi as it told me that no hardware was installed. After reinstalling Lion after several KP’s (I also completely erased my hard drive to try to isolate the problem), Wi Fi appeared to be working again. After today’s KP I am again being told that no Wi Fi hardware is installed. Having just re-started the system, I received another KP and was given the following information:
Sorry for quality, the old 3GS never did have a great camera! From this message, it appears to my untrained mind that I am having a problem with AirPort. I know what you're thinking. I should search through the discussions because you are quite right, I am not alone in this problem. Indeed the thread at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3194446?start=45&tstart=0 suggests what looks like the same issue. One person (Dani31) replaced the file IO80211Family.kext by that of Snow Leopard to fix it.
My main problem is that I have no idea what this solution means or how to implement it! I'm afraid I'm a complete novice when it comes to all things 'Terminal' related so am hoping that someone might take pity on me and walk me through a solution!
I use Ethernet to connect to the internet and the only wireless feature I use is to share with my MacBook Air, a feature I would happily give up if it meant fixing the problem. If somehow disabling Airport was the best solution to a stable system then I am happy to do it.

SMC 1.8 Update - causing kernel panic

Having run software update today on my mid 2012 macbook pro, that included the 1.8 SMC firmware update I have now had 4 kernel panics in as many hours.
Each of the 4 crash logs lists "BSD process name corresponding to current thread: backupd". Since switching off time machine (backs uo to a USB hard disk connected to the WiFi network - seen as time capsule) I have had no further panics.
OSX 10.8.5 fully up to date 2.6GHz i7, 16GB RAM
Anyone else having issues?
