Have you encountered this Lion\Logic desktop switching bug yet?

This is on 1.7.1, still a bug but different than what happened on 1.7
Let's say I have 3 desktops and open Logic in desktop 3 then full screen enable it. If you now initiate mission control, you will see 3 desktops AND the full screen Logic). Now let's say I swipe to desktop 3, Logic will now be visible with the menu bar on top of Logic (still in full screen mode). Swipe to desktop 2 and Logic is not visible. Swipe back to desktop 3 and Logic is visible with the menu bar on top of Logic (still in full screen mode). Swipe back to desktop 2 and Logic is visible with the menu bar on top of Logic (still in full screen mode).Swipe to desktop 1 and Logic is visible with the menu bar on top of Logic (still in full screen mode). Swipe all the way to where the full screen app should be (to the right of desktop 3) and all you see is a grey screen (in 1.7 it would be the linen background). Now you have to swipe back all the way to desktop 2 to see Logic. Guess what? Swipe to desktop 2 and Logic is visible.
You get the point.
This does not seem to happen with the native apps in full screen mode.

facing the same epic fail issues since i bought my mac pro with Lion preinstalled and downloaded (ARGH!) Logic Pro 9 ... using an apogee rosetta as i/o and wordclock via optical .. never a problem with a G5 and Tiger... lion and logic f*** up everything (workflow?! what exactly was that?) ... constant digi-clicks tell me that the apogee clock ist ignored, logic produces a klick with constant dropouts only and no way to sync audio to the click or whatever .....
worst is: they (e.g. apple) keeps us from downgrading to Snow Leopard, no help, no support, no responsibility ...

I have a V480R system connected to a Sun L180 (storagetek L180). I have just REMOVED the original LTO-1 tape drives and replaced them with LTO-3 drives from HP. I did a reboot -- -r and when the system rebooted, my /dev/rmt directory was empty. I have installed the 113277-36 patch for st.conf and the like, but to no avail. I can "see" the tape drives when using Netbackup V6.0 software and attempting the add the devices via the wizard. The robot attaches properly and even shows the three tape drives - but you CANNOT attach the drives. I would suspect this issue to be caused by some fault within the st.conf and the /dev/rmt directory being empty. Have you any suggestions?
Running Solaris 9 with Dec 19, 2005 recommended patch and security cluster.
L180 has version 3.9 firmware.

I can see the library and 2 tape devices with cfgadm -al but nothing gets built in /dev/rmt

Is Lion's desktop switching really glitchy?

I've been using Lion for almost a week now and it's pretty good. But I'm having a lot of trouble with the spaces replacement. It just seems really glitchy and very un-Apple like. For example, when switching from one desktop to another, the menubar slides away but the desktop icons usually just vanish, then quickly fade back in when the new desktop is in place. It seems hard to believe that this kind of thing would be design. Another oddity is that when you assign an application to all the desktops, it doesn't just slide in and out when switching desktops. It slides out on one desktop, but when the next desktop comes in, the application is missing until the desktop stops in place, and the application window abruptly appears.
I could swear this thing is just riddled with glitches. These are the kinds of little bugs that I'd just restart the computer in an attempt to resolve and as rarely as it happened, it usually worked. But in Lion, restarting doesn't seem to do anything because it always just jumps back in exactly where I left and inherits the problem.
Or was it really designed this way? There's no way.

Not unless you created them or copied them from some other source. In the desktop Sys Prefs there is a option to Browse for other images on your system to be used as desktop backgrounds. You did say you had collected some so I don't know where you put them but if they aren't in that system desktop pictures folder then they are someplace else on your drive. More then likely in your Pictures folder.
As for other customizations if you are going to install ML over the top of Lion, or Snow Leopard, those settings "Should" be carried over to ML. But as with anything Computer anything can happen.

Upgrade Mac Mini 2010 to SSD, have you tried this?

Hi all, and this is my first discussion thread.
I'm currently running my Mac Mini 2010 with a SATA Male to Female cable and ext. SATA power on a WD VelociRaptor 150GB.
The solution isn't really elegant i feel and it generates alot of heat from the drive and some extra noise when loading heavy applications eg. parallels desktop.
I've even up the ram to the max 8GB as well and everything seems zippy so far.
Earlier there are alot of talk about SSDs requiring TRIM on the operating system and as what we know Mac OS X Leopard
does not have integrated TRIM support.
So i'm basically looking at SSD candidates that will:
- run the power provided by the Mac Mini's (5V) integrated PSU
- don't require TRIM support to manage garbage collection on the hardware level.
So far, i've only 2 candidates:
- Crucial RealSSD
- Kingston V100+
Which one will you shell out for and why?
Additional question:
- If i remove the superdrive on my mac mini, can i get a external USB superdrive? is there such a thing at all?

theres no reason why it should not work, plug in the HDMI cable, select the Source input on LCD(HDMI 1/2), if still no picture on the Mini open System Pref>Display : Resolution> it should show 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p and other lower resolutions, just select 1080p and to your right select 60hz. Hope this helps.

Enable ACLs on existing volume- have you done this?

I'm considering enabling ACLs on an existing (in use) SAN volume. I'm still running xsan 1.4.2. The MDCs are on 10.5.5 and soon the clients will be as well.
Have any of you enabled ACLs 'after the fact', and if so, did you have any problems?

Dear Mr. Jobs,
My husband has been an avid supporter of Apple, having purchased a great deal from you over the past many years. Personally, I have been an iPhone user since it was introduced a few years ago.
In July 2010, I stood in line at the Apple Store in the Stanford Shopping Center to purchase the iPhone 4. In February of this year, I tried to update the iPhone and got the 'sign of death'. My iPhone turned into a piece of brick and I was not able to make any phone calls, which at that time, was very inconvenient. I remember having to coordinate a pick up at the airport early the next morning and my phone was dead. Apparently, in trying to update the phone, it corrupted the firmware and I could no longer activate that phone. It was a frustrating experience on the eve that I had to go to the airport and I spent hours trying to see if there is anything that I could do to get the phone back in working order.
The following day, I made an appointment with the genius and my husband and I took the iPhone to the Stanford Apple Store to see if there was a problem with the phone. Without hesitation, we were asked if we purchased the phone overseas. Of course, as Asians, they probably thought that we purchased it in the black market in China. After hearing our response, their next question was whether we hacked the phone. Why would they bring up these issues? Rather than immediately delving into the problem, we found it very annoying that the employees would tried to divert Apple's problem to us. After trying to diagnose the problem, they gave us a new phone and activated it using their in-store computer.
We took the phone home, thinking that the problem had been solved. When we got home, we tried to update the iPhone to no avail. The firmware was corrupted and we had to once again, bring the phone back to the Apple Store in the Oakridge Mall in San Jose. The Apple employee told my husband to go to the AT&T store, as there was potentially a SIM problem. My husband went to the AT&T Store and was told that they couldn't help him, as the SIM was fine. They did, however, replace the SIM so that there would be no issue.
In April, when there was an upgrade to the iPhone software, we once again tried to update the software and was unable to. Once again, the firmware was corrupted and we were forced to take the phone back to the Stanford store. Again, they asked us if we purchased the phone overseas. Why? They could have easily looked at the records, but no, your records are so bad that you are unable to pull it up. That afternoon, we spent four hours at the store, updating the OS on the computer as well as updating the iPhone. They assured us that they solved the problem.
This past weekend, as there was another update to the iPhone software, we were once again unable to update it and were forced to take it back to Apple. Again, we were asked, did you buy the phone overseas. It's very frustrating and annoying to repeatedly get asked that question. After a series of back and forth communications between the genius and my husband, we were told that they didn't know what the problem was. This time, we told them that we would not be leaving the store until they solved the problem. We have an Apple computer and an Apple iPhone, so 'Apple' should find the source of the problem and fix it once and for all. The genius then suggested that we migrate the data from my computer to my husband's computer and try to update the phone using my husband's computer. We didn't accept that answer.
Our genius then asked the help of a second genius and after taking his suggestion, they found that the serial number for my iPhone had been assigned to France Telecom. Once again, they asked if we bought the phone overseas. Why? Please train your employees to not accuse the customers of doing this. Many of us are honest and we take offense to this. In fact, we told them that we purchased the phone from the Stanford Store (where we were at). After looking for the record, they said that we must not have purchased it from them. The onus, then, was up to us to prove that the phone was, in fact, purchased from the Stanford Store. Fortunately, my husband saved the email and was able to show the genius that the phone was purchased from them. How could your records be so poor as not to be able to find our purchase?
After two hours at the store, we were told that we, not Apple Stanford, had to call customer care to resolve the problem. Being that this is an Apple problem, I would have expected Apple to follow up on our behalf. Why is it that the customer has to spend additional time to deal with an issue that was caused by Apple.
My husband has been dealing with customer care, who apparently has escalated the problem to other divisions within the organization. It's been two days and the problem still has not been resolved. In fact, the answer remains that they are not sure how to resolve the problem. Why can't you update your system and redo the record so that I can go on in peace. Every time I try to update the software, I'm afraid that I won't have a working phone. Do you blame me?
This has been one of the worst experiences that I have had with an Apple product and it still is not over. Collectively, my husband and I have spent over 25 hours dealing with this issue both at home and at various Apple Stores. It has been a hassle having to go from place to place, having to sync the phone multiple times, having to update the software multiple times on both the computer and iPhone and ultimately, not having it fixed once and for all. Please let me know how you expect to compensate us for this experience and how and when you expect to fix my iPhone issues.
Mr. Jobs, I know that you expect perfection from your team. This has been a tremendous waste of time for my husband and me and has been a less than stellar experience.

Many FTP publishing problems. Have you tried this??

I run many websites with different webhosts. I was sooo happy with the new FTP feature untill I tried to get it to work. Test worked, upload didn't. Test worked, publishing worked, nothing showed up on actual website. test worked, publishing worked, it showed up on site, but if I added another change it didn't work etc etc etc....... All my problems were solved when I called the hosts, asked them where to publish the site and fill that in in the Directory/Path bar. I use public for Telus (in Canada). But I use WWW for 4goodhosting. So every host has a different folder (I think). Everything is working now!!! I don't know a lot about all this stuff, but all my problems are solved and for the first time in 4 days I am happy with iWeb again!!

This is not so. Lots of people here host business sites and choose to host these on an external server because it provides faster loading times and extra features and if you use a dedicated ftp programme such as Cyberduck and you upload all the correct files, then there should be no problem at all.
Publishing to MobileMe and forwarding is one option, but at times loading times are slower, as I discovered myself and I have had no problem at all using Cyberduck to upload all my files. My sites looks just the same as it did on MME.

Please excuse a newbie's ignorance - I've never posted to any forums before :-)
I am using Win7 Professional and IE9 on a well-spec'd HP PC (4GM Ram, dual core, lost of hard disk space etc).
I have successfully downloaded Adobe Reader (install_reader 10....exe @ 703kb) using Win7.
I cannot run this file (I have tried all I talk about here with Reader 9 and with Firefox; all the same errors noted below get repeated)
The error message is headed: "UI_ReaderInstaller" and the text in the message is "Only a single instance of thsi application can run"
The only option given is an "OK" button and leaves one having achieved nothing!
I have never had a previous version of Adobe reader on this PC; this is a first time install attempt.
If I search my PC for "UI_ReaderInstaller" it does not give any results!
Please might someone more competent that I help me out here? Maybe you've experienced this and found the solution? Please might you share your knowledge with me?

Ok, I am new to this forum. I have a real problem, I have a Zen Vision M and I love it. But yesterday, I dropped it into the toilet!!!!! It isn't working. any ideas?

It's happened before.
Was it playing when it got wet or turned off?
I would rinse the Zen Vision:M with fresh clean water, and place it on a clean towel in a warm, dry place for <i>at least</i> several days.
If you see condensation inside the screen, it needs to spend more time drying out.
Do not attempt to turn it on until it is completely dry.
If there is a boating goods/marine electronics store in your area, ask them for help. They are often called to salvage electronic equipment that gets dropped off boats.

How Would You Do This in Logic?

I know how to do this in PT and Nuendo, but in Logic, how does one easily create a tempo map to match an existing piece of audio?
Often I get hired to do soundalikes, and I load in the real record, then create a click that matches it. In PT, I use "Identify Beat" about every bar, or even sooner, and in Nuendo of course you just drag the beat markers around.
Is it hard to do in Logic?

When i did my last update of Firefox from 3.6 to the version before 5.0 Frame 2.0 did not work. Have you solved this problem in the new version?

When i upgraded Firefox from version 3.6 to the next version I got a message about Frames that did not work. I work as a warehouse manager and we use an application called LogTrade when we ship goods. LogTrade was not working with the version after 3.6, I think it was 4.0? I had to reinstall 3.6 to get it working. Since LogTrade is essential for my work I don't know if I dare to upgrade to version 5.0.
