Heading 4: h4. Row count

Hello everyone,
I'm a beginner in CR2008. I'd like report to count every row it generates. I tried to add Record Number but it returns not 1,2,3,4, etc numbers. How can I do this please?

Also if you require the count for a field on each page create a formula field and put the below formula:
Count(database field);
Now place this formula on the page footer and that would return the count of number of records for a particular field on each page.

If you want to show a localized text in the table header, you should use the <b>Message Pool</b> to create a (parameterized) message "tableHeaderText" like "There are table entries".
Next, create a context attribute "tableHeaderText" of type "string" and bind the "text" property of the table header Caption UI element to this attribute.
Whenever the table data has changed (e.g. at the end of the supply function for the table's data source node), update the header text:
int numRows = wdContext.node<TableDataSourceNode>().size();
String text = wdComponentAPI.getTextAccessor().getText
IMessage<ComponentName>.TABLE_HEADER_TEXT,
new Object[] { String.valueOf(numRows) }
wdContext.currentContextElement().setTableHeaderText(text);
Maybe you want to provide a separate message for the case that there are no entries.
Alternatively, you can make the attribute calculated and return the header text in the attribute getter.

Display row count of dataset after grouping in report header?

My dataset has 500 rows, but if I group that data by field DeptId, there are only 20 rows.
I used something like the following, but it tells me that I can't use RowNumber in the page header:
=RowNumber(Fields!DeptId.Value, "DataSetTeachers")
I also tried something like CountRows("DataSetTeachers"), but that give me the total rows, which isn't what I want.

You can use CountDistinct function. This is the expression that I used in the page header:
="Number of rows: " & Countdistinct(Fields!Date.Value,"DataSet1")

Interactive report max row count

Is there a way to set IR max row count dynamically?
To improve performance, I would like to set this value to 200 when users run the report and set this value to 50000 when users download the report.

A dirty solution to this could be , create IR report with rowum < 201 and then add a link to the region header for downloading report. Point this link to another page with the same sql query (classic report) and select the template as CSV.

How to return "Final Row Count" - where I have suppression filters etc

I am building a data interface that outputs "trade records"
Each report/file has a primary header record
each report/file has a secondary header record for EACH TRADE
each report/file has trade details per account under the secondary header record for EACH TRADE
each report/file has a primary footer record, that shows the total row count of the resultant details
the "Records" count in crystal is not what I need, as when the report prints/Exports, certain of those records are suppressed.
I only need what "lands" in my txt file in respect to that final number of total rows of data
Any suggestions are very greatly appreciated. My search thru the forum did not return an answer that I could see.

Thank you - I very much appreciate your response - but about the same time you posted - my experimentation and borrowing of like situation formulae seemed to solve it with some tweaking!
first I added this formula to count each "trade record"
Whileprintingrecords;
numbervar linecnt := linecnt +1
then, in the "file footer" added this:
tonumber({@totalRowCount})DistinctCount ({MoxyAllocation.OrderID})1
thank you again for your input, I'm betting I'll find a use for that in the near future.

Getting row count of file into table column

Hi experts,
I want to insert the row count of the file into a table column for generating a summary file containing the detials of all the files generated for the day along with the row count and also for audit purpose.
My design is to create table in the summary file format & update the data's in it then using OdiSqlUnload to generate the required summary file, for this purpose I need to insert the row count of the file generated.
I tried to get the row count using the http://odiexperts.com/get-file-length-and-header-in-operator post. But passing the "lines" value into a ODI variable or inserting into a table column is not working.
Please help or suggest what can be done to achive the above scenario.

Rows count for repetitive groups in tablix.

To make the story cut short, i will going to explain my scenario:
i have a tablis contro and i garoup it by a field say "Field1" which contains A and B values,
in my case we divide groups in two parts if it has rows more then 200.
so, my report output and my required is below :
Current Output -------------------------- Required layout
here 200, 20, 30 are number of rows per group.
now my requirement is if a group is repetitive
i need the all rows count for that value like in above case :
Header text of Group A should be like : A(220) i.e 200 +20
please help me on this...

thanks for reply, sorry, i skipped to mentioned that i have to provide multilevel grouping also, like
Group By: Field 1 -> Field 2 -> field3
so, to achieve my requirement by Sql as solution has no problem if i do not have multilevel grouping, but i have to provide that and in that case the query will be like,
“select distinct [column1],[Column2],[Column3],count(*) as rn from [table] group by [column1],[Column2],[Column3]”
which is problematic in my case.
so for doing this i need a solution apart from sql but by using SSRS Report end.

What I would like to do is do row counts across 2 schemas with same tables and see if there are any differences in row counts and if there is any would like to generate an email and alert the user.

Yes it is possible, you need to
grant select on user2.table_name1 to user1; (you can grant select to all tables of user2 to user1 or otherway) and then write pls/sql procedure to send email using utl_smtp.

Hi All,
Am new to OBIEE.Pls help in this regard.
Am building the physical layer as per Repository guide.When am importing the data in to this,am getting the below error.

channles is the table name and having 5 rows.
but am able to see the data in the sql prompt. like SELECT * FROM SH.CHANNELS then 5 rows data would be displaying..
pls help in this regard and where is the excat problem?

what is the error?
Make sure that your connection pool settings are okay..
Make sure that, you are using correct driver in case of if you are using ODBC dsn..
Also make sure that, your oracle server is running... TNS and Oracle server services

DataTable.Rows.Count property is occasionally wrong

I have a web service in C#.NET which calls a stored procedure using ADO.NET. The stored procedure is always returning 1 row, which is then loaded into a DataTable. The Rows.Count property of the DataTable is then examined.
When this web service is called repeatedly with numerous requests, it occasionally returns Rows.Count as 0 when it should be 1. I have debugged and examined it at runtime and found that there is indeed 1 row in the datatable, but that the Rows.Count property
is 0.
Is this a known bug?
I'm using .Net Framework 2.0
Note: This is an issue that occurs very rarely. My testing shows that it takes about 90 minutes to recreate it when you have 2 concurrent processes sending requests repeatedly at a rate of about 10 requests per second.

Are you sure that there aren't multiple threads access the DataTable?
Can you post a repro?

Dynamically set maximum row count in Interactive Report

Hi,
Has anyone worked out a way of dynamically setting (e.g. via select list) the maximum row count value for an Interactive Report, taking into account issues with order by when the report is filtered. I'm aware of solutions like this: http://www.talkapex.com/2010/10/apex-reports-no-limit-downloads.html but as far as I can tell this doesn't work when the report is filtered and the IR is rewritten in the background. Data sets then become unreliable because they are reordered.

You can do that with javascript
gReport.search('SEARCH',100)the 100 you can replace for any number you like.I have a report with filter,sorting and groups and it is gives no problem there.
any number means any number but not higher than the number you set at Maximum Rows Per Page.
You probably can mix the solution from Martin and the above code.

Alv field heading in two rows

In alv report out put the field heading is too long.
So I want to disply the heading in two rows.
Like April 2006 prior month personal,
Is to be disply like in one row April 2006.
And in next row prior month personal.

i think it is not possible like that , u can increase the length of that field in fieldcatalog
wa_fieldname-outputlen = '100'.
and in layout u can use
wa_layout-colwidth_optimize = 'X'.

Excel o/p in Reports 9i-additional report header for every row

Is there any way to generate an Excel file output from OracleReports9i.Actually I have tried the simple report.
I am able to create a delimited output.But the prob is it contains an additional report header for every row of the report and this is very strange.Its coming like that
Empno     Ename     Job     7566     JONES      MANAGER
Empno     Ename     Job     7902     FORD      ANALYST
I need the Xls o/p like that

I have given     DESFORMAT = DELIMITED
          MODE      = CHARACTER
I am able to generate the reports in html/HTMLCSSIE/HTMLCSS/PDF/RTF
Only delimited is giving problem
What should i do to resolve this issue. Please help me it is very very urgent for me.

I had the same problem and this is what I did, works great. You have the total control.

Interactive report – column heading in multiple rows

I am using interactive report. My question to the expert/guru’s is: - How do I change column heading into multiple row with text wrap.
For example:- My column heading is
Is Employee Trained ? -------> (single row display)
I want to make it display like
Is Employee
Trained ? ------> (Multi row display)

What you could do is, disable the download csv function from IR (Interactive Report Attributes--> Search Bar-- Uncheck Download) and in the region header create a link and redirect it to another page which will have the csv report output.
e.g. <a href="#" onclick="javascript:redirect('f?p=&APP_ID.:3:&SESSION.::&DEBUG.:3::');"" >Download Report </a>
Here I am redirecting the link to Page 3. On Page 3 create a sql report with the same query and make report template to csv. Thanks,

How to get row count(*) for each table that matches a pattern

I have the following query that returns all tables that match a pattern (tablename_ and then 4 digits). I also want to return the row counts for these tables.
Currently a single column is returned: tablename. I want to add the column RowCount.
