Possibly a very basic question but I am going nowhere without a solution. I have set up a spreadsheet in Numbers but it won't give me sums for chosen columns. I have viewed the run through videos and used the formula but nothing happens apart from giving a figure of zero or a red arrow. The sum icon in the bottom left hand section of the window does not highlight or show any total as I understand from the video that you can drag whatever total is here onto the relevent position on your spreadsheet. To sum a column, use a formula such as this one in Cell A6
Type this in a cell below your data:
=SUM(A2:A4) or whatever range of cells you want to sum. The easy way is to type:
=SUM(
and then drag or shift-click to select the range of cells. Close the formula with a final bracket ")".

To see the sum (and other simple statistics) in the bottom left, select a range of cells. That tells Numbers which cells you are refering to.
The videos are good, but the Numbers'09 User guide, and the Formulas and Functions User Guide are better. Download them from the Help Menu in Numbers.

I am having setup issues with a used 4S iphone. I can't get past the Apple ID step.
First it said it was an existing ID and I should go to iforgot and reset my password.
I did, but still keep getting the error message.
Then I entered the serial number online support and it said the ID was another account. Would that be the seller?
Do I need to get them to unregister under their name before I can proceed? Or...
Please help. I start new job on Monday that required me to have a smartphone. I need it up and running.

RYes, you have encountered Activation Lock (Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support). The only way that phone will ever be usable is if the owner the phone is locked to releases it (see: Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account - Apple Support). If you are lucky the phone is locked to the seller, so you can ask them to unlock it. If the seller is merely a middleman and the previous owner is not the seller it gets much more complicated. It's even possible that you bought a stolen phone, in which case you will never be able to use it and you should return it for a refund.

Um, there is no such thing as NAS4.1.
I'm assuming that you mean NAS4.0 (maybe NAS4.0sp1?). If so, then the session timeouts are specified in the session section of the NTV configuration files.
AFAIK, you can specify session timeouts on a per user basis. -
Is it possible to set a default music player for the music on my external while still keeping my iTunes the default player on my Mac ?

If you are using another application, you are at the mercy of how that application operates as far as what occurs when it stops or errors out. The car is looking for music to play.

Hello, so today I realized that my iPhone with iOS 6 is frozen on the music. I can get back to the home screen but I can't get the music player to work because its frozen on the w's and will not respond to touch. I would be grateful for any help on this.

Hello, I use MAC AIR OSX 10.6.8 and have Adobe CS2, that I was using 2 years ago on my older computer. I stopped using it because it would close down in the middle of work. Now I would like to reinstall it on the MacAir but I can not get it working. It tells Adobe doesnT support my System. But I can not update my old version or activate it. What can I do?

If the problem is that you already installed cs2, but it won't activate, that's because adobe took the activation servers offline for some older adobe products such as cs2.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -

Hello - can anyone tell me why my iPad (4th Gen) screen will no longer rotate. I don't have a screen lock symbol next to the battery icon. I have the rotate icon on my desktop but still can't get the screen to rotate.

Hi. I currently have both my iPhone's and iPad's on one Apple ID and I was hoping to use one iPhone and one iPad with another Apple ID, does anyone know if this is possible and how I would do it.
Thanks TMM39You should be able to. The only hiccup will be that any apps that you have purchased with the older ID you will have to repurchase with the newer ID to be able to keep using them.
Though of course this actually depends on how you plan to use the IDs. For example, I had an Apple ID through iTunes a few years before I opened a .Mac/MobileMe account (what iCloud is now in case you are new to Apple). Thus, my iPhone and iPad actually have two IDs on them, one for iTunes/App Store, and one for anything associated with iCloud. I've never really had any problems assoctiated with having two IDs on one device. Usually just an extra step when I get a new device or have to restore either of them for some reason. Though I understand that this is probably not what you plan on doing, I thought I would use it as an example of what the IDs are really associted with on the devices.
