[HELP] CRL in standalone OC4J SSL and ws-security x.509 token profile?

Dear all,
i have a question about setting up the OC4J server to check against a cert revocation list (CRL) when:
1. SSL in standalone OC4J (no oracle http server) (i.e. using secured-web-site.xml)
2. ws-security x.509 token profile (authenticate user by cert)
***i can create a crl list, but i don't know how can i import this list into the keystore
***and setup the system to validate cert against the crl.
i can't find the information in oracle's manual/documentation.
could anyone give me the solution under the 2 situations??
thank you.

Hi,
i have a question about setting up the OC4J server to
check against a cert revocation list (CRL) when:
1. SSL in standalone OC4J (no oracle http server)Probably not supported.
2. ws-security x.509 token profile (authenticate user by cert)OC4J + WS_SECURITY doesn't support CRL-s, sorry.

  • Please HELP-Problem of Standalone OC4J Container

    Hi All,
    I developed one ERP Product using ADF BC Swing and deploymed at 3 clients running online,But problem is of OC4J,
    When i Start Standalone OC4J then user connects and do the entries,but when he close his form or Application then oc4j is not releasing the JDBC connection.so because of that my Connections in use are Increasing Very Much and At one Instance its Increasing Maximum Limit in Database so then i have to Restart the Application Server after that the Connection in use get zero,it is working fine for next 8 hr then same situation will occur and I have to restart my Appllication. because of this My Clients are not satisfied,they are shouting on me.
    I am Using JDeveloper (10.1.3.0.4) and OC4J 10.1.3.0 and OracleDB 10g .
    1) I am not able to understand weather the oc4j is not capable of handling such big Transactions?
    2) If so then what is the alternate solution for this,can i go for Oracle Application Server.
    3) If so then which is the best or suitable version of Application Server for my application ?
    4) How to Install Application Server on Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 ?
    5) How to Deployee ADF BC Swing Application on it?
    Please guide me so that i will correct myself.
    Thanks In Advance

  • Web server type of standalone oc4j needed for SSL Certificate

    Hi,
    We have a standalone oc4j 10.1.3 that hosts an application whose many of its pages use https and so we need to buy SSL certificate from any of CAs like Verisign, GeoTrust, etc.. All of these CAs are asking us about the web server type that the standalone OC4J uses. I read the following statement from this url:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B32110_01/web.1013/b28950/intro.htm#JICON100
    "communications in a standalone environment is provided through the built-in *_OC4J Web server_*, which supports HTTP and HTTPS communications natively without the use of the Oracle HTTP Server"
    On all of the SSL certificate systems of above CAs websites, they ask us to choose the web server type from a list of server types but I don't see OC4J web server listed and I am told that it is very important to make sure the web server type is correct otherwise the SSL Certificate that we buy may not be compatible with our web server type.
    So, I like to know the exact built in web server type name that goes with Standalone OC4J or one that is closest and for which SSL Certificate is compatible.
    Shown below is a list of web server types that I am asked to choose from on Verisign website.The closest to standalone oc4j according to below list is Oracle Wallet Manager but isn't this meant for Oracle Application Server (OAS) and not the standalone OC4J? we are using the java keytool to generate the CSR that we look to sign it via the verisign but again we are not sure about the web server type in the case of standalone OC4J that is not listed below. Please advice and thanks in advance to any of your responses in helping out.

    I wouldn't expect to see the oracle.jbo.dt.objects.JboException class referenced by anything at runtime. The oracle.jbo.dt.* packages are for use by ADF BC design time extensions to JDevelopers, but not used for any runtime of your applications.
    This class appears in your stack trace.
    Instead, at runtime the class oracle.jbo.JboException (NOTE: no extra ".dt.objects." packages in there).
    Since the stack trace is occurring when entity object XML is being loaded, and the entity object row class is being set (based on the metadata found for the RowClass="xxx" property in the XML file), it is possible that you somehow accidentally included an import in your entity object class of the "oracle.jbo.dt.objects.JboException" class instead of the base oracle.jbo.JboException class?

  • How Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server linked to each other

    Hi ,
    Please let me know what is the relation between a Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server ?
    In my application The Oracle Application Server is installed in C drive and there is a Stand alone oC4j .
    Please tell me how they are linked to each other .
    Thank you .

    It depends on your need and what features and functionality of Oracle Application Server you are interested in. Note that OC4J is a component of Oracle Application Server that can run as a standalone component or within Oracle Application Server. Question #6 in earlier mentioned FAQ document states:
    OC4J standalone is J2EE 1.3 compatible (1.4 and 1.5 too in later releases of OC4J) and is able to be used in both development and small scale production environments. OC4J standalone provides its own inbuilt HTTP/S listener to allow clients to execute Web applications that it has deployed. Application deployment and server configuration of OC4J standalone is performed by the manual editing of a simple set of XML files.
    For large scale enterprise deployments, the Oracle Application Server product is likely to be more suitable with its comprehensive feature set including Oracle HTTP Server, process monitoring and management capabilities, and its configuration and management console.
    So if you are happy with what you see in standalone OC4J and scalability isn't an issue for you, you can stay with standalone OC4J and don't need to move to Oracle Application Server.
    PS: If you do decide to use OC4J that's embedded with Oracle Application Server, you can't move your standalone OC4J inside Oracle Application Server. You will have to reconfigure embedded OC4J again (as you might have done with standalone OC4J) and redeploy your applications.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Jdev 10.1.3.2 and Standalone OC4J 10.1.2

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an application server connection to a standalone OC4J (10.1.2) in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.
    In step 1 of the Create App Server connection I select Standalone OC4J 10.1.3. (Thinking that OC4J version 10.1.2 is configured similarly).
    I fill in the required information in the remaining steps
    (username and password, hostname etc..) but when I go to test the connection, the Testing Connection Status window just hangs, it appears no connection is being made and it just remains that way.
    My standalone OC4J is up and running. It was started using the command java -jar oc4j.jar
    Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong ?
    Are there any log files I can look at to try and resolve the problem ?
    Thanks,

    You can create EAR/WAR file from JDeveloper and then use the OC4J 10.1.2 managment console to deploy them to the server, there is no one-click-deploy support from JDev 10.1.3 to OC4J stand-alone 10.1.2

  • Standalone oc4j and oracle 9i database on the same windows xp machine

    I m trying to deploy my j2ee application in my local system using standalone oc4j container(Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.1)).To configure OC4j,I had to mention ORACLE_HOME=d:\oc4j as a user defined env variable.after that the oc4j started running normally.then i installed oracle 9i database in the same system to use it as the database for the application.During installation it prompts that ORACLE_HOME is alredady set.However the installation completes successfully.But when i try opening sql plus,it throws and error asking to check oracle_home.Its only after changing oracle home to d:\oracle,that sql plus opened and i could log in to it.But after that oc4j would not run saying it cannot find relevant files.Is it not possible to have standalone oc4j and a database for a J2ee application on the same system.if its possible,how can we go ahead?Thanks in advance

    user549113,
    Problem with ORACLE_HOME has been discussed several times already in this forum. I suggest you search the forum archives for "ORACLE_HOME".
    Good Luck,

  • Where do we set flag -D... for embedded and standalone oc4j?

    hi,
    I want to set flag -Doc4j.formauth.redirect=true in embedded and standalone oc4j. Where should I add this definition for both environments?

    Hi,
    stand-alone its
    java -jar -Doc4j.formauth.redirect=true oc4j.jar
    in embedded OC4J,
    double click the project node in JDeveloper and select the Run/Debug option. Then press edit on the "Default" configuration and add -Doc4j.formauth.redirect=true to the "Java Options" field

  • SSL and Certficate CRL Check

    Hello
    I hope this is the correct forum to ask my question. I was reading up on the X509 v3 Standard and Cryptography in general when I can across an statement which said that the SSL (e.g. the SSL hand-shack and subsequent secure channel setup) does not bother
    to check the CRL for a given certificate, is this correct?
    In other words a CDP may be published in the Certificate but the SSL Protocol does not retrieve/check the CRL located as the CDP to check if the certificate in question has been revoked or not. This is not a Microsoft specific question (rather a protocol
    question e.g. behaviour of SSL protocol). I read this information from a respected source (although the document was a little dated)
    If this is the case (and perhaps this is a question for a PKI/SSL type forum) then you can browse to a WEB site with a valid (NotAfter is still within date) certificate (which as been revoked by the CA) but be completely unaware of this and still setup a
    secure channel with the WEB site and perform transactions.
    Can someone please enlighten me on this please
    Thanks

    This was once true for older versions of Internet Explorer. But since IE 7 (I believe) the default behavior is to check revocation. You can see for yourself in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
    Settings\Certificate Revocation or you can go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced Tab/[Security Section]/Check for server certificate revocation.

  • Cannot connect RMI-IIOP client to standalone OC4J (10.1.3)

    [PROBLEM]
    I am trying to access an EJB session bean from a simple remote java client.
    The EJB is deployed to a standalone OC4J server.
    Using the RMI-over-IIOP protocol for client-server communication.
    The client and server run in separate JVMs (but on the same machine).
    This is a simple java client program, not a J2EE application client.
    The InitialContext creation fails with the errors shown below.
    I searched around on the web, and found other people with the same issue, but no solution:
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4995985
    Maybe I'm missing something in my configuration, deployment, client invocation?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated!
    [SETUP]
    I generated the iiop stubs during deployment (-DGenerateIIOP=true) to the server. Added the generated IIOPClient jar file to my client classpath.
    Also specified -enableIIOP and remote=true for the EJB deployment.
    As per the 10.1.3 documentation, I also specified the following command line arguments:
    -Djavax.rmi.CORBA.PortableRemoteObjectClass=com.sun.corba.ee.impl.javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject
    -Dcom.oracle.CORBA.OrbManager=com.oracle.corba.ee.impl.orb.ORBManagerImpl
    -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialHost=testpc1
    -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBInitialPort=5555
    Verified in Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g (Application Server Control) that the application was deployed successfully, and a Stateful Session Bean is visible in the EJB pane.
    Also verified that the iiop port (5555) is functioning (netstat).
    internal-settings.xml file:
    <server-extension-provider name="IIOP" class="com.oracle.iiop.server.IIOPServerExtensionProvider">
         <sep-property name="port" value="5555"/>
         <sep-property name="host" value="localhost"/>

         <sep-property name="ssl-client-server-auth-port" value="5557"/>
         <sep-property name="trusted-clients" value="*"/>
    </server-extension-provider>
    server.xml file contains this entry:
    <sep-config path="./internal-settings.xml"/>

  • JVM termination with standalone oc4j

    Hi,
    We have several (around 15) standalone oc4j instances running on a Sun machine, the details are as follows:
    Machine: SunFire V1280 with 8 processors (sun4u sparc) and 24 GB RAM
    OS: SunOS 5.9 Generic_117171-02
    oc4j version: 9.0.4.0.0
    There is also a 10g installation on this machine.
    We are finding that quite regularly one or more of the oc4j instances shuts down without warning. the only information in the log files (jms.log, rmi.log etc) is a "Stopped (JVM termination)" message. I cannot find any other logs on the machine which can help me with this error.
    I am after one of two things:
    1. Potential reasons for this happening (preferably with solutions!)
    2. A possible for a log file created by the JVM detailing why it is terminating.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • Oracle 10g - Creating a new Application Server using standalone OC4J 10g

    I have some issues in creating a new app. server using standalone oc4j 10g 10.1.3 instance. After I created the app. server instance, I tested the connection and it says connection refused. I used the userid as oc4jadmin and the password as welcome. I am getting a message connection refused. For connection, I used the default hostname "localhost" and I didn't mention anything in the URL path.

    Thanks Steve..
    Here is what I am trying to do.. I want to create a new app server instance (i.e.) stand alone oc4j server, where I can deploy my web service and run a test.
    Oracle JDeveloper 10g:
    Under Connection Navigator, Application Server --
    1) Right click to 'Create New Application Server Connection'
    2) Connection type as 'Standalone OC4J 10 g 10.1.3',
    3) Username ==> oc4jadmin, Password ==>welcome, checked the Deploy password.
    4) Hostname: localhost RMI Port: 23791
    URL path: <<blank>>
    5) Test Connection ==> getting a error message...
    Error while getting remote MBeanServer for url: ormi://localhost:23791/default:
    Error reading application-client descriptor: Error communicating with server: Connection refused: connect; nested exception is:
         javax.naming.CommunicationException: Connection refused: connect [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect]
    Any input you can provide would be of great help.

    ==========================================================
    Please could somebody help me out with this? Basically I am not able to understand how to deploy the EAR file created under the MyWork folder under jdeveloper\jdev to the applications folder of j2ee\home. I am new to both EAR deployment as well as web services and would like to get a good understanding of the working of a web service which includes SOAP components and the like.
    Any help with regards to building and deploying a web service on standalone OC4J would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

    Initially I followed the following steps to start up OC4J:-
    Settings :-
    1) Jdeveloper is setup under C:\Lester\Testing as Jdev10.1.3 folder
    2) I downloaded the extended oc4j zip folder and unzipped it under a new folder oc4j at the location C:\Lester\Testing\Jdev10.1.3
    Steps followed to run oc4j and deploy application
    1) Setup a standalone oc4j from the jdeveloper ide giving C:\Lester\Testing\Jdev10.1.3\oc4j as the root folder for oc4j.
    2) While doing step 1 added password and deployed it. Changed server.xml under C:\Lester/Testing/JDev10.1.3/oc4j/j2ee/home/config
    to include the following:-
    <shared-library name="global.libraries" version="1.0" library-compatible="true">
    <code-source path="C:\Lester/Testing/JDev10.1.3/oc4j/j2ee/home/applib"/>
    </shared-library>
    AND
    <java-compiler name="javac" in-process="false" options="-J-Xmx1024m -encoding UTF8" bindir="C:\Jdeveloper\jdk" extdirs="C:\Jdeveloper/jdk" />
    3) Opened a command prompt and went to the location C:\Lester\Testing\JDev10.1.3\oc4j\j2ee\home and ran the following command:-
    --> java -jar oc4j.jar
    4) Deployment: Then I deployed my primewebservice application from command prompt at C:\Lester\Smart Cylinder\Example code\prime\PrimeNumberService>
    using:-
    --> java -jar C:\Lester/Testing/JDev10.1.3/oc4j/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://172.20.13.164:8888 oc4jadmin welcome -deploy -file PrimeNumberService.ear -deploymentName DocStyleWebService
    5) Web Binding: Then I bound my primewebservice application from command prompt at C:\Lester\Smart Cylinder\Example code\prime\PrimeNumberService>
    using:-
    --> java -jar C:\Lester/Testing/JDev10.1.3/oc4j/j2ee/home/admin.jar ormi://172.20.13.164:8888 oc4jadmin welcome -bindWebApp DocStyleWebService PrimeNumberService_web http-web-site /docws
    6) Steps 4 and 5 went through without error.
    7) However when trying to access the web service using the following link I get the standard HTTP 404 (Page not found) error:-
    http://localhost:8888/docws/prime
    This was before I tried deploying the web service through jdeveloper IDE.
    I had tried the document web service given at the following link:-
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/webservices/docservice/index.html
    from the web services how to links
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/codesnippet/webservices/index.html
    Please could somebody help me out? Also periodically I recieve the ojc.exe not found error when trying to deploy an application using jdeveloper ide. There are two conflicting jdeveloper versions one comes with this exe and one without.

  • Has anyone had a WebService running on standalone OC4J 101300 / 101310

    I am trying to run the most basic of webservices on these containers - what was achieved within minutes on IBM WAS 6.0, JBoss 4.0 and WLS 9.1 is just not getting possible with this release of the container!
    Initially thought it was a deployment / code issue - but have been consistently able to take the same WSDL and generate the WebService (and deploy) on other containers except OC4J. The same service runs successfully within JDev embedded OC4J.
    Using JDeveloper, I was able to generate both top-down and bottom-up services. Neither got deployed - either through uploading the EAR file, ANT build file, JDeveloper deploy to connections etc...
    Even tried changed entries in the server.xml and the default-web-site.xml file - but it is of no use.
    No extra libraries were added - same results were obtained even with a fresh install of the container in this environment: WinXP Pro + JDK 1.5.2_09 + OC4J 101300 / 101310.
    All these come back with the same error:

    So it does work. What the specific problem is with your situation, one of our WS PMs most likely be able to help with.
    The error you have:
    2006-11-16 20:01:15.764 WARNING java.lang.ClassCastException: com.sun.org.apache.xerces.internal.dom.DeferredElementNSImpl
    Is strange -- can you check your WAR file and see if there are other libraries in the WEB-INF/lib that may be being loaded?
    Do you have xerces-impl.jar or anything like that in the JRE/lib directory of your JDK?
    cheers

  • Standalone oc4j 1.0.2.2.2

    Hi All,
    Can anyone redirect me to the url to download standalone oc4j 1.0.2.2.2 because at below this url http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/ias/htdocs/winsoftold.html
    I could see only Version 1.0.2.2.1 and Version 1.0.2.2 for download.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kumar.

    Thank your prasad.
    I am basically using a java connection pool which stores in it cache 2-3 connections(say) to the database. However when I get this error(I dont know how it is getting ?) may be all of my connections in the cache are corrupted in one way or other then at this point if I try to invoke my web application with one of these corrupted connections in the cache then I cannot 'login into'/access my web application and so I need to restart my oc4j server so that the my java program that is deployed in the server can can new/fresh database connections and put them in connection pooling cache. So that is the reason I need to restart my oc4j server. So is there anything that I can do on my part to overcome such errors or it can be simply fixed by the help of DBA by working on the database.
    I am using my own connection pool but not the one provided by oc4j. If you get below errors:
    1. connection reset by peer
    2. broken pipe
    Then how oc4j's connection pooling will work. Can we work with our web application without restarting(to get fresh connections by destroying corrupted connections) the oc4j server.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kumar.
