HELP !! displaying BLOB or intermedia file

Hi !
I've uploaded my document (image or text) to database using form portlet successfully.
I've tried using BLOB file and intermedia (ORDIMAGE) instead.
In order to display it, I've tried several ways, but none is working :(
First, I've tried to use Portal Report(when I use intermedia data type) and activate 'the embed intermedia rich content in the report' option in display options.
But it didn't work. The image won't displayed, just cross sign appear, like the image doesn't exist or wrong path.
Even I've followed the instruction given by OTN (live-demo).
The Second, I tried to use BLOB data type and use PL/SQL gateway to display it.
The procedure is (I got it from PL/SQL Gateway Overview):
procedure download_docs is
mydocs blob;
begin
select documentfile into mydocs from album where id = 1;
owa_util.mime_header('text/html', FALSE);
htp.p('Content-Length: ' || dbms_lob.getlength(mydocs));
owa_util.http_header_close;
wpg_docload.download_file(mydocs);
end;
but it came with 'The page cannot be displayed', even I've grant execute privillage to public for the procedure.
FYI, the table and the procedure is in same schema.
And the third, I've got frustated :)
Could anyone tell me what was wrong ?? Please.....
Thanks alot...
Moza

Hi Faizal,
If your requirement is just to show up/Display the blob document ..Here is how we did it
1.You create a form based on this table
2.Before creating the Form make sure that one column Mime_type added in your table
3.When you create the form on the blob field you will be asked to store the blob info ..you select the mime_type for that
4.When you querry the form you get a link to the blob document and you can view or display it.
ii.To show the blob's in a report yyyyyyyyy it's a big exersise and need to access few system tables .You please let me know if the above doen't work for you.

    # Question
    It's not just Download Helper v4.8.3, it's also RealPlayer: the download display window shows .mp3 files downloading, but nothing shows in the folder when it is done downloading.
    Also in the '''Properties''' window of Windows Explorer I '''no longer have the Details tab''', so I can't update my mp3 files with Artist, Album, Genre, etc. But the details tab does show up when I access it thru Windows Explorer.
    I ran the AVG rescue disc an no viruses found. Now on '''FF3.6.15''' '''RealPlayer''' shows when I right click but then '''immediately disappears and an icon appears in the System Tray''', but as soon '''as I hover my mouse over it it disappears'''.
    Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
    How can I get this fixed? I have time-sensitive mp3s that I won't have access to anymore if I don't get this resolved in a hurry. (no pressure on you, I'm the one that's stressed about this) Can you help? Thanks so much for responding to this '''inquiry.''''''bold text'''

  • Display blob file

    Quick Question:
    Is it possible to display a file stored in an oracle blob field directly to the browser, without first writing it to the server?
    My Situation:
    I need to display the file associated with a given record. When the user selects the record I write the associated file to the server first as "default.pdf" and then display it from there.
    When another record is selected, the browser doesn't recognize it as new (because it overwrites the old "default.pdf" maintaining the same name) and displays the old cached file.
    I can give separate names to the files but this defeats the purpose of storing them in the database because then you have two copies of each, one in the db and the other on the server.
    I have tried to delete the file after displaying it but it deletes before the response.sendRedirect() command and therefore has no file to display.
    If anyone has the answer to the above question or another solution (perhaps to avoid the cache) it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Garbo Dumpster (I will post the code if my explanation was not clear)

    Following is the code sample:
    Blob aBlob=null;
    aBlob= (Blob)rs.getBlob("BLOBCOLUMNNAME");
    long bloblength = aBlob.length();
    long offset = 1;
    int lenread=0;
    int buffersize=1024;
    int size;
    InputStream is = aBlob.getBinaryStream();
    byte[] buffer = new byte[buffersize];
    response.reset();
    response.setContentType("whatever"); //can store it in database and retrieve
    ServletOutputStream out=response.getOutputStream();
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=\"" + filename + "\""); //filename can stored in database and retrieved
    for (long pos = 0;pos<bloblength;pos+=buffersize)
    lenread=is.read(buffer,0,buffersize);
    if (lenread<buffersize)
    size=lenread;
    else
    size=buffersize;
    out.write(buffer,0,size);
    }

  • Display Filename in PDF File

    Hi there, hoping for some help on what I think is quite a simple issue.
    I want to create a blank single page PDF file which has a text field automatically and dynamically completed based on the file name of the pdf document. So for example if the file is named "My Sample File.pdf", the pdf file will display "My Sample File.pdf" and that is all. If I then rename the pdf file in Windows Explorer to "My Renamed File.pdf", when I next open the file it will display "My Renamed File.pdf".
    I would then insert this one page pdf into an array of existing pdf files as their new page no1 to effectively be a title page for each created automatically based on their current filenames.
    My research suggests this is possible using Javascript in a text field, or a form field (although I would prefer text field), however, as I have no experience of Javascript or its implementation within Acrobat, is proving impossible for me to do. The nearest I have got is a script which puts the filename as a watermark; unfortunately that script keeps overlaying the new filename over the old filename watermark, rather than updating it. For information that script was:-
    this.addWatermarkFromText({
    cText: this.documentFileName,
    nTextAlign: app.constants.align.center,
    nHorizAlign: app.constants.align.center,
    nVertAlign: app.constants.align.bottom,
    nFontSize: 12,
    nVertValue: 12});
    Ideally I would like the script to strip the file extension and if possible split the output onto two lines based on the filename portion which preceeds/follows a comma in the filename (which it would also strip). For example, if a had a file which was named "My Sample File, created on Monday.pdf", it would display as:-
    My Sample File
    created on Monday
    If anyone has any ideas on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards and thanks in advance,
    Malcolm Dowers

    The easiest way to fix this problem is to edit the current javascript.
    find the line:
    var strLabel = global.FileNameStamp.strDocStamp.replace(/\n/g,"\r");
    Place this line underneath it:
    var strLabel = global.FileNameStamp.strDocStamp.replace(/\.pdf$/i, "");
    So you get:
    var strLabel = global.FileNameStamp.strDocStamp.replace(/\n/g,"\r");
    var strLabel = global.FileNameStamp.strDocStamp.replace(/\.pdf$/i, "");
    That's it!

    Hi,
    Add this line inside your run() method, right before your call to repaint():
    if (image != null) {image.flush();}Hope this helps,
    Kurt.

  • Problem with displaying BLOB images on JSP page using a servlet

    hi. I have a big problem with displaying BLOB images using JSP. I have a servlet that connects to the oracle database, gets a BLOB image , reads it, and then displays it using a BinaryStream. The problem is , this works only when i directly call that servlet, that is http://localhost:8080/ImageServlet. It doesn't work when i try to use that servlet to display my image on my JSP page (my JSP page displays only a broken-image icon ) I tried several coding approaches with my servlet (used both Blob and BLOB objects), and they work just fine as long as i display images explicitly using only the servlet.
    Here's what i use : ORACLE 10g XE , Eclipse 3.1.2, Tomcat 5.5.16 , JDK 1.5
    here is one of my image servlet's working versions (the essential part of it) :
                   BLOB blob=null;
              rset=st.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM IMAGES WHERE ID=1");
              while (rset.next())
                   blob=((OracleResultSet)rset).getBLOB(2);
              response.reset();
              response.setContentType("image/jpeg");
              response.addHeader("Content-Disposition","filename=42.jpeg");
                    ServletOutputStream ostr=response.getOutputStream();
                   InputStream istr=blob.getBinaryStream(1L);
                    int size=blob.getBufferSize();
              int len=-1;
                    byte[] buff = new byte[size];
                         while ((len=istr.read( buff ))!=-1 ) {
                   ostr.write(buff,0,len);
             response.flushBuffer();
             ostr.close(); and my JSP page code :
    <img src="/ImageServlet" border="0"  > If you could just tell me what i'm doing wrong here , or if you could show me your own solutions to that problem , i would be very greatful ,cos i'm realy stuck here , and i'm rather pressed for time too. Hope someone can help.

    I turns out that it wasn't that big of a problem after all. All i had to do was to take the above code and place it into another JSP page instead of into a servlet like i did before. Then i just used that page as a source for my IMG tag in my first JSP. It works perfectly well. Why this doesn't work for servlets i still don't know, but it's not a problem form me anymore . Ofcourse if someone knows the answer , go ahead and write. I would still appriceatte it.
    here's the magic tag : <img src="ImageJSP.jsp" border="0"  > enjoy : )

  • Display BLOB (image) column in (interactive) report

    Hi,
    I have a field called "picture" in my table "details" which is of type BLOB. i also have a field for "MIMETYPE" and "filename"
    i additionally have a "name" and "description" columns which i need to display along with the picture as columns in a report (preferably interactive).
    i have also modified the BLOB display format as per
    http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/db/apex/r31/apex31nf/apex31blob.htm
    what i am missing is the correct query. if possible, i would like to control the size of the picture rendered within the report like say 40*50.
    I have also referred to the thread
    APEX 3.1 Display BLOB Image
    But i don't know how to place the
    dbms_lob.getlength("BLOB_CONTENT") as "BLOB_CONTENT"
    in my query.
    The above also makes the report column as of type "number". is this expected?
    Any help would be much appreciated.

    from
              details
    if possible, i would like to control the size of the picture rendered within the report like say 40*50.For images close to this size it's easy to do this for declarative BLOB images in interactive reports using CSS. Add a style sheet with:
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA td[headers="PICTURE"] img {
      display: block;
      width: 40px;
      border: 1px solid #999;
      padding: 4px;
      background: #f6f6f6;
    }where the <tt>PICTURE</tt> value in the attribute selector is the table header ID of the image column. Setting only one dimension (in this case the width) scales the image with the correct aspect ratio. (The border, padding and background properties are just eye candy...)
    However, scaling large images in the browser this way is a huge waste of bandwidth and produces poorer quality images than creating proper scaled down versions using image tools. For improved performance and image quality, and where you require image-specific scaling you can use the database ORDImage object to produce thumbnail and preview versions automatically, as described in this blog post.

  • Display italics in xml file

    I am using xml files (generated by word) that have <i>
    tags hand typed into the document to indicate italics. I am
    displaying the same xml files in both Flash and HTML.
    The xml file functions fine in Flash, however in html the
    tags display as typed:
    some copy <i>this should be italic</i> some more
    text
    rather than italicizing the text.
    The xml file encodes the < to &lt; and > to
    &gt; and then reads the <i> tag as text rather than
    processing it.
    How can I alieviate this?
    I am using PHP to display and XSLT for formating.
    Many thanks in advance for any help.

    Thanks for the response. However this doesn't exactly address
    my issue.
    Let me further explain: I am creating the site in
    Dreamweaver, however the xml files are generated by word - so my
    client can make updates to the site themselves. But regardless, a
    standard xml file is generated. I mentioned this only to exlain why
    I can not hand code the italics to begin with (the client is
    specifying were they go within body copy).
    What I am looking for is javascript or php code that could
    fix the problem?

  • How to display blob as text in APEX

    hi All,
    I am developing an apex application using the apex cloud (apex.oraclecorp.com). I am using the DB link to show the data on APEX UI. I have a blob data which is stored in the remote DB, and I want to display the BLOB data as text on a popup or a new page or a download link.
    I tried using display only item but APEX throws an error saying that remote DB is not supported. Also, It would be great if I can just show a download link on the UI for the BLOB data, again when I try to select the format as BLOB in the column attributes, When I give the table@dblink as BLOB table I get an error saying that "table@DBLINK not found".
    Is there any way to display the BLOB data as text or download it which is present in my local DB?
    Please help me out.

    I don't think your question is clear enough. can you be more specific about what you are trying to achieve and also provide proper information about your apex & database version.
    What you mean by displaying blob as text?? What is stored in your blob columns?

  • Help to show a HTML file in Swing

    Hiiiiiiiiiii,
    During my development Me in a problem . Please help me out.
    As per my current context of the project I have to develop a HTML page with Help of CSS and all other things. After that I have to Show the HTML file through Swing. I know how to attach a file with help of URL but need some help to show a HTML file in Swing.
    *help to show a HTML file in Swing*

    As camickr said Javascript support is not available. If you want to support you have to write code for that. Up to an extent CSS support is provided.
    Sample code to display HTML pages in JTexPane (you can use JEditorPane as well):
    Construct the URL:
    URL url = YourClass.class.getResource("resources/Hello.html");
    // If YourClass is in package test.html, then your html page must be available in .....test/html/resources directory.
    // And your CSS files must be accessible from your HTML page. This you can test by simply opening the html
    // page in your favorite browser.And then call setPage() method of HelpDataPane. Note that, HelpDataPane supports hyperlink activation.

  • To display the list of File Name in a report region from a Directory

    Hello All,
    Can any one guide me in displaying the list of file name from a file system directory in a report region with link?
    On click of the link it should display the open/save dialog box.
    I will appreciate the early solution. (It is bit urgent)
    Thanks,
    Shyam

    A quick, "dirty solution would be to have a cron job (I am assuming you are on a UNIX-based system) that populates a file periodically with the names of files in a directory/directories. Then have an external table that points to that file. You can then create an Apex report that lists the contents of the external table.
    1) crontab job:
    ls -1 /source_dir/* > /destination_dir/file.list
    2) create external table:
    CREATE DIRECTORY filedir AS ' destination_dir ';
    GRANT READ ON DIRECTORY xfer_files TO public;
    CREATE TABLE file_list_ext (file_names VARHCAR2(100))
    ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
    TYPE oracle_loader
    DEFAULT DIRECTORY files_dir
    ACCESS PARAMETERS
    records delimited by newline
    fields terminated by ','
    missing field values are null
    (file_name)
    LOCATION ('file.list')
    REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;
    3) create APEX report on table: file_list_ext
    Hope this helps.
