Help- JDBC driver installed, can't register driver
1) I downloaded 175012_12.zip, classes12.zip, nls_charset12.zip
2) I initially extracted zip files into C:\Program Files\ and they ended up in oracle subdirectories directories
3) I followed patch instructions for 175012_12
4) I couldn't find any Oracle Installation instructions(where are they?) so I found one http://home.clara.net/dwotton/dba/jdbc_test.htm. It said to put the driver in jdbc/lib. I had no lib directory so I created one. I think I did have a driver directory but I'm not sure if it really matter where it is, just that you point to it.
5) I put the driver in:
C:\Program Files\oracle\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip
6) Set/Verified the CLASSPATH = "C:\Program Files\oracle\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip"
7) I restarted Eclipse and put the following test code in:
import java.sql.*;
// Load Oracle driver
DriverManager.registerDriver (new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
8) I get the following error:
oracle cannot be resolved to a type
Hi
I never set CLASSPATH with Eclipse. I simply define a library in the "Project Properties" under "Java Build Path". Notice that if you want to use JDBC thin, you can store the driver where do you want.

R400 help, new W7 install, can't install needed drivers
My daughter's R400 Thinkpad was experiencing the blue screen and shutting down, restarting, etc, etc, etc. I tried the recovery options to no avail. The laptop came with no discs. So after sitting in a corner for months, I decided to attempt to fix it for her. After much research and screwing around, I managed to make a bootable USB stick with Windows 7 pro and booted the computer from it, and managed to get the OS installed. The W7 OS was downloaded from the MIcrosoft website, and verified with the code from the laptop. I figured once I had W7 loaded I could simply connect to the internet and download/update the drivers as needed... NOT. I can't connect to the internet because nothing works without drivers (my ignorant assumption anyway).
So, I thought that I would download the drivers onto my laptop and put them on a USB stick and just install them on hers... again, NOT. I can't access the USB stick.
Not sure what to do now. Help?Hi, Stude
Your daughter's ThinkPad should be able to install certain drivers by itself, such as USB. If you go to Device Manager, are the Universial Serial Bus controllers recognized? If not and the driver can't be updated, then you may want to save the files on to a CD and load the drivers on the machine that way.
Hope it helps,
Adam

I purchased an I-PAD3 for my mom. I want to transfer music, etc., from mine to hers. However, I must register her I-PAD before my computer will accept it. Will her computer at home accept her I-PAD if I proceed forward. I am concerned her computer will not accept her I-Pad since she did not do the initial registeration/sync. All assistance is appreciated.
Ipad will sync itunes content and pics from one and only one computer at a time.
Any itunes content and pics that you sync from your computer will be erased when she syncs to her computer. -

Can someone please help me re-install my Creative Design 5.5 on my Mac? My MacBook Pro recently crashed and had to have the hard drive replaced. The back up from Time Machine is not reinstalling the program. Since I have the download paid, and codes, I need direction on how to reinstall -- HELP?
Hi bodegakc,
If you have the serial number then please use the below mentioned link to download the product you are looking for .
CS5.5
Also before installing Please go to Applications-->Utilities--> Adobe installers and if there is any uninstaller for CS5.5 , you can remove it and do a fresh install.
You can also use creative cloud cleaner tool before installing.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

Need Help On How to Install JDBC Driver
I've downloaded the JDBC driver and set the CLASSPATH environmental variable to the .jar file that is the same one I downloaded that is in the oracle folder. (not sure why I have to download it again) But, there are no other instructions on installation. I also tried copying the jdbc folder I downloaded to replace the one within the oracle folder and that didn't work either. If I type "import oracle." etc in netbeans it does not recognize the class / package. I can't be sure what the installation process is.
I can't find clear instructions on installing JDBC other than the readme which says all you have to do is set the CLASSPATH, but it doesn't even mention what to do with the files you download. I found a developers reference that says all the things to check to make sure it installed correctly, but that is after the fact and I don't know how to get there.
Thank youI already have the CLASSPATH set in the system environmental variables for ojdbc6.jar and orai18n.jar and it does not work.
'.;C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\lib\ext\QTJava.zip;C:\app\0\product\11.1.0\db_1\jdbc\lib\ojdbc6.jar;C:\app\0\product\11.1.0\db_1\jlib\orai18n.jar"
Also, I'd rather not have to run a TCP/IP listener so the OCI based JDBC driver would be preferred. Do I need to the OCI and the OCI based JDBC? (I read there is a difference) If so, could somebody give me the URL's because I can't find them.
I find this very confusing. I found the page for JDBC, but that takes me to the JDBC page with many downloads and then they are all thin versions. So at the bottom it has a small link for "platform specific JDBC-OCI libraries See the instant client" so I click on the "instant client" (whatever that is) but that just has a download link for a zip file that has a readme with nothing other than a timestamp and a useless header with no information. This is just taking me in circles.
What I want to do is start programming java in netbeans using JDBC. Thanks. -
Help installing new JDBC driver on LINUX
Hello,
Today, I downloaded the new SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver onto
my Linux Server. The path to the driver's .jar file is
/root/sqljdbc_1.0/enu/sqljdbc.jar. I placed that path in my CF
Adminstrator "Java and JVM" page's Class Path field. I restarted
the app server but each time I try to establish a dsn connection I
keep getting this error. (note: I have dsn's set up already to this
instance of SQL Server 2005 so the communicatio is there but I
would prefer to use this new driver)
Connection verification failed for data source: dsnTestDB
java.sql.SQLException: No suitable driver available for
dsnTestDB, please check the driver setting in resources file,
error: null
The root cause was that: java.sql.SQLException: No suitable
driver available for dsnTestDB please check the driver setting in
resources file, error: null
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
mdg1
Houston, TXTry placing the jar file in the
{cfmx-root}/runtime/servers/lib (create if not already there)
directory if you have the server install or the
{jrun-root}/servers/lib directory if you have the multiserver or
j2ee install on JRun. Restart the Coldfusion applicatioin server.

at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534)HI All,
I am using JDBC driver to pull data from MS SQL Server
2000 for my application Liaison Content Exchange, and
which only accepts JDBC drivers to talk to databases.
I dowloaded the driver from Microsoft website, and had
a successful installation. What do you call "a successful installation"? Where was the JAR file places?
But the application ask me for Driver Name, Class, URL, Time out and Data Source. What application do you mean? Liaison Content Exchange? I'm not familiar with that product.
By default no driver is available in the drop down combo box. After using
"com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource" as
class and
jdbc:microsoft:sqlserver://192.168.17.2:1433; as url,
the application throw me a error which states "Unable
to instantiate an instance of the application driver"Sounds like it could be one of several things:
(1) The JDBC JAR is not in the CLASSPATH where Liaison Content Exchange expects to find it.
(2) You need to do something else to tell Liaison Content Exchange more information to define the data source.
(3) The URL might be incorrect. Only you can know if the IP address of the host is correct. You don't supply a database name - perhaps you should. Are you sure that 1433 is the correct port number? I know that's true for SQL Server 7.0, but I remember that the default was changed to something else for SQL Server 2000. Ask your database admin what port this listener is assigned to for SQL Server 2000.
(4) You might want to append ";selectmethod=cursor" to the end of your URL. (See the docs for this.)
(5) Make sure you can connect to the database with something other than Java (e.g., the M$ SQL Server client).
. I am not able to trouble shoot this problem, any one
pls help me ASAP at [email protected]
Thx.Bad idea to post an e-mail address. You're not supposed to communicate outside the forum. it's against the guidelines for using the forum. -
I think this is just a directory structure issue but I can't figure it out. I am writing a JSP / Struts / MYSQL web application which uses the mysql JDBC connector. The connector (mysql-connector-java-5.1.6-bin.jar) is in the referenced libraries. If I write the line of code:
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver");
To load up the driver, it works in JSP files in the folder /projectname/webroot/web-inf just fine and I can go on to execute MySQL queries. However, I need to load up the driver in an action (.java action) with the directory structure /projectname/src/action and it throws the exception "class not found", I believe, it can no longer seem to get to the driver. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance, I hope this is the correct place (I have done my best to find the right one).

It has to be in CLASSPATH, and that isn't an environment variable.
If I write the line of code:
Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver"); No, wrong.
The JAR file for the Driver class might go in the WEB-INF/lib of your web app. If you're using Tomcat 5.5.26, put it in common/lib.

If this is a type-4 JDBC driver, it could occur if the JDBC
driver is not in the system CLASSPATH.
If this is a type-2 JDBC driver, it may also indicate that
the Driver native layers(DBMS client lib or driver DLL)
have not been installed properly on your system
or in your PATH environment variable.
This is most likely caused by one of the following:
1. The native layer SO, SL, or DLL could not be found.
2. The file permissions on the native layer SO, SL, or DLL
have not been set properly.
3. The native layer SO, SL, or DLL exists, but is either
invalid or corrupted.

Most likely, the OCI libraries could not be loaded.
Before continuing down this path, is there any reason
why you want to use an OCI based Driver as opposed to the
all Java Oracle thin driver ?There is indeed a valid reason for my choice.
I am currently connecting to the Oracle "Rdb" 7.0 database (located on
VMS) - not Oracle Oracle.
The SQL Service software we're currently using is version 7.1. This
version works well with the OCI8 driver (when connecting to the
database from Windows NT). This version of SQL Service however does
NOT work for the THIN driver (unless we upgrade the SQL Service to
version 7.1.5.5 - which we're not prepared to do so because it is not
stable enough from our previous test/trials). SQLSRV Version 7.1.5.5
works for THIN driver but it will result in uncommitted
transactions/unresolved connection/stopping of listener issues and
there is a need to restart the service from time to time. Oracle has
since confirmed that this is a bug that they have yet to resolve...
So we have to stick to OCI8 (THICK) for the time being. I would really
appreciate it very much if you can tell me the various OCI libraries
that I need to load (in terms of WebLogic Server config file settings
etc..).
By the way I have already installed the Oracle 8 client software on
the NT server (where WebLogic Server is) and I have also set up the
relevant SID (using the Net8 Assistant) that points to the Oracle Rdb
database on the VMS. I have also tried using SQL*Plus to connect to
the database and I can connect properly to the database. But WebLogic
simply doesn't seem to load the software.

JDBC driver register issue in iAS.
I currently turn to EJB development, and I encountered a problem when running a CMP sample in iPlanet. My develop environment list below:
Windows 2000 Server
iPlanet 6.0 SP3 (Installed in G:\iplanet\ias6\ias )
Oracle8i,
Forte for Java 3.0
I learn CMP Bean by study the Product sample in iPlanet ( G:\iplanet\ias6\ias\ias-samples\j2eeguide\product ). I ran the script in G:\iplanet\ias6\ias\ias-samples\j2eeguide\product\src\schema\setup_ora.bat. It register a ORACLE-OCI ,the type 2 driver. But I want to register a type 4 driver. So I start kregedit ,
removed the type 2 , and register a type 4 driver and datasource use iASAT. The entries list following:
Oracle Type4 Driver Register
DriverType:oracle-type4
Driver ClassName:oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
Driver Classpath:D:\oracle\ora81\jdbc\lib\classes12.zip
DataSource configuration
JNDI Name:bankDS
DriverType:oracle-type4
DatabaseUrl:oracle:thin:@192.168.188.31:1521:PhilipW
Username:philip
Password:tiger
Then, I run the client (both servlet and rmi), all successfully. But few days later. When I run it a exception raise to indicated that the iAS can't find jdbc driver. Message in KJS Process window list below:

I am sure the classes12.zip (the Oracle type4 jdbc driver ) is on the iAS's classpath. I guess maybe this caused by the type2 driver. I had reinstalled iAS, even the OS. but I can't resolve this problem. I
really feel crazy! Do you have any idea?
Thanks in advance.
Shuhao WangShouldn't the database URL be
"<B>jdbc:</B>oracle:thin:@192.168.188.31:1521:PhilipW"? And it could also be a good idea to add the path to classes12.zip to appserver/6.0/java/classpath using kregedit... -
JDBC Driver errors after installing Security Update 04-2007
After installing the latest security update for 10.4.9, My JDBC driver is no longer working. I'm running PHP & Mysql as a localhost for dev and I know that both are running but are not speaking to each other. I use SQL4X Manager to manage my DB and that can't access MySql. I have the same set up at work with out the security update installed and everything is working great which let me to believe that the security update muck'd something up. Anyone else have the same problem?
Can't help with the airport problem, since I don't do wireless. As for backing up, these should get you pointed in the right direction:

How do I install the jdbc driver for sql server 2005, in sql developer 4.0 ?
Hallo together
I need access to tables in a MS SQL Server 2005 database.
One possibility is the JDBC driver.
How do i install this driver ?
Thank you very much for your postings.Hi,
This is from the documentation -
Database: Third Party JDBC Drivers
The Third Party JDBC Drivers pane specifies drivers to be used for connections to third-party (non-Oracle) databases, such as IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, or Sybase Adaptive Server. (You do not need to add a driver for connections to Microsoft Access databases.) To add a driver, click Add Entry and select the path for the driver:
For Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Adaptive Server: jtds-1.2.jar, which is included in the jtds-1.2-dist.zip download
To find a specific third-party JDBC driver, see the appropriate website (for example, http://www.mysql.com for the MySQL Connector/J JDBC driver for MySQL, http://jtds.sourceforge.net/ for the jTDS driver for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase Adaptive Server, or search at http://www.teradata.com/ for the JDBC driver for Teradata). For MySQL, use the MySQL 5.0 driver, not 5.1 or later, with SQL Developer release 1.5.
You must specify a third-party JDBC driver or install a driver using the Check for Updates feature before you can create a database connection to a third-party database of that associated type. (See the tabs for creating connections to third-party databases in the Create/Edit/Select Database Connection dialog box.)
Alternative:
As an alternative to using this preference, you can click Help, then Check for Updates to install the JTDS JDBC Driver for Microsoft SQL Server and the MySQL JDBE Driver as extensions.

Mike
