Help me on the subportal, community, subcommunity concept!

Been on 4.5 for 2 yrs now and just installed 5.0.4. I understand the system as it was, but now I need to build my furst community in 5.0 and the requirments list seems to be a good candidate for what I know of the 5+ system.(which isnt much) If I have a Customer Subportal, and enough differentiated content for 2-3 communities within it, can those communities be seen by other not in that subportal? Can members of a subportal see communities not listed with hat subportal? I need to do a Customer "area" in which there will be a service community, need a place for news and general junk, and some specific content of other things....
thoughts/comments greatly appreciated?

Hey! Welcome to the community :)
If you have 11,000 songs in a Spotify playlist (not as local files you own) you won't be able to mark them all to be available offline, since Spotify limits each device to 3,333 offline stored tracks due to licensing restrictions.

  • How to get help and help others on the Spotify Community!

So I thought I would make this informal, light-hearted post about how to help other and get help on the community :)
A Community is About Mutual Relations
This means that people help you, so that you help them. You share your newly gained knowledge, so others can benefit. You get help, and then you help others by replying to their topics.
It Always Pays to be Polite
People will want to help you more if you are polite, with no swearing or hate speech. We all get annoyed from time to time, and some get annoyed more than others. We understand that the product you're paying for isn't working, but screaming, shouting and swearing about it won't help. Be polite, and help will come.
Always Pack as Much Information in as Possible
Often I am trying to help others, and there is just not enough info posted for me to help them well. This slows down the support they can get, which makes them further annoyed. To solve this issue post as much info as you possibly can:
    Any error messages
A description of what is happening
What have you tried to do to fix it
What happened when you tried to fix it
Oh, a screenshot always helps ;)
    Don't Post Personal Info
Almost every day I have to report a post for containing an email address, telephone number and sometimes even the users home address. Apart from being against the community guidelines, this is rather stupid. These forums are public, and any person, bot, stalker or alien entity can see it. So just don't post them - it would save everyone's time ;)
Payment Issue? Don't come to us ;)
Payment issues cannot be dealt with on the community, unfortunately, as we don't have access to your Spotify account or details. You should use the Support Form to contact the customer services team, and they will get back to you (eventually).
    Post in the correct section!
I am forever moving posts over to the correct sections. Please - post in the correct section to begin with. If you need help, post in the help forums, and post in the relevant help forum. You will get a quicker response if you post in the right section ;)
    Post in the Correct Thread
Most common issues already have a thread, but people don't seem to be able to see them. If you have deleted a playlist post in the deleted playlist thread!
Make Sure you Accept a Solution!
I don't really like having to accept a solution for others, as I don't know for sure whether or not it was actually the solution, but the OP of the thread doesn't do it - so who is?
    Give Kudos!
Kudos is like a pat on the back. Everyone gets a nice feeling when they gain a kudo. Please kudo regularly - they cost nothing and mean everything ;)
    I think that's it...
If I have forgotten anything don't be afraid to send me a private message about it!

  • Printer help needed from the Apple community

    Hello Apple Community,
Can you help me to print from a new Mac to an old Canon printer?
I'm here in Vietnam (first time in Asia) as a teacher. I have the latest model MBP (running Mac OS X 10.8.4). There's an old Canon that I'm trying to print to. I've Google'd the model number but nothing comes up for Mac. There are sites in the Google search that say they have the software. I'm worried they might be malware sites.
On the back of the printer it says L11121E. But when I connect it (via USB) and open Print & Scan it detects it as a Canon LBP2900.
    I looked here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670 and here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670.
But neither of those links list the Canon L11121E or LBP2900.
When I Google'd "L11121E mac driver" this link came up:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL899
Do you think that would work?
I checked for updates from the App Store (and System Preferences Print & Scan) with the USB cable of the printer plugged in. Nothing came back.
I'm a teacher trying to print material for my students. Any help at all would be appreciated.
    Confused,
    .Sean

    Thank you, Linc!
Following the instructions from AlexeyU (thread: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15765876#15765876) worked!
    AlexeyU's instructions:
    "Try this:
    1) Download & Install official drivers for Lion v3.36 – http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100359005.html
    2) Download & Install this package –http://www.uzhva.com/temp/Canon_LBP3000_to_LBP2900_patcher.zip
    3) Reboot
You probably will need to manually match your printer with LBP 2900 driver from drivers list."

  • I'm ready to help the FOSS community , but I can't find a proyect.

I've been working as a C# developer for the last 5 years and using linux for about the same time. One of my goals for the 2011 is to start developing FOSS in my spare time. Maybe in python, I find it interesting.
However , there are some problems that I am facing:
    1) The proyect: every proyect I found is too big , or too complex , or too boring. Maybe I'm missing something , maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. I don't know , Exaile was the closest to a interesting proyect that I found , but after reviewing the code , I couldn't understand the gstreamer logic (I mean , that's the core of the app , right?).
    2) My "coworkers": I'm used to work everyday in the same office and and have a close relationship with them. I don't know how to react to this change and how does the other developers could/would react to a new developer coming to the proyect (I mean , "hey guys , i fixed these bugs and added the 2 things for the next milestone. Btw , I'm Andres" seems wierd lol).
I think I'm not the first one having these problems , so any feedback would help me.
    Thanks

nagel wrote:I'm ready to help the FOSS community, but I can't find a project.
How exciting! I love helping FOSS projects, but it can be difficult to decide what to do.
nagel wrote:One of my goals for the 2011 is to start developing FOSS in my spare time. Maybe in Python, I find it interesting.
I agree, Python is very interesting. I made my first Python application a few months ago. It was easy to use, fun, and I think using Python helped me to become a better C programmer.
    Keep it simple
nagel wrote:Every project I found is too big, or too complex, or too boring. Maybe I'm missing something, maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.
My suggestion: choose a project where you need to learn one thing at a time.
There are languages (examples: Python, C), libraries (examples: GTK, Qt), and programming paradigms. (examples: GUI programming, threaded programming) When you begin working on a project, you will probably need to learn something new. Try to learn only one thing at a time. For example, if you have to learn gstreamer and GTK (two libraries) at the same time then you might become frustrated. Or, if you have to C++ and Qt (a language and a library) at the same time then you might become frustrated.
So, try to learn one thing at a time.
    Other FOSS developers
nagel wrote:I'm used to work everyday in the same office and and have a close relationship with them. I don't know how to react to this change and how does the other developers could / would react to a new developer coming to the project.
I love working online with FOSS developers! It feels like I'm talking to a celebrity. You know, like when Allan or Dusty posts a reply to me on the Arch Linux forums.
Of course, you should join the mailing list and bug tracker for the project you want to work on. I don't usually introduce myself. Instead, I just start helping, and people will know me soon.
    My FOSS experience
Here are some examples from my FOSS experience.
Many years ago, I wanted to write a new FOSS application. I couldn't think of any new applications to make, so I decided to make a video game. There are NEVER too many video games.
I learned many things by making video games:
Languages: C, Objective-C, Java, Assembly, Ada
    Libraries: Allegro, SDL, Java SWING
I've submitted many bug reports to many different projects, such as wxWidgets, Allegro, Udiskie, and Haiku. I really like submitting bug reports and working with the developers to fix the problem. It's easy to do and I get to use better software.
I maintain some AUR packages. (very easy, but it helps FOSS)
I helped write the documentation for some software from the Arch Linux community, such as Packer and Udiskie. I've contributed to the Arch Linux wiki.
Recently, my wife and I wanted a new application for budgetting. I decided to write one. I used Python and wxWidgets. It works pretty well. My next goal is to convert it to C++ and wxWidgets, and then make a version for Haiku using C++ and the Haiku API.
    Interesting things
You should definiteley work on something that you think is interesting. To me, that's Arch Linux, Haiku, bug reports, and documentation. Try to find things that are interesting to you!
Lastly, don't make your goal too big and don't try to do too much. There are many many people helping in FOSS. If everyone does a little bit, then we can make something great.

  • Help! How to get the Java Communication Package work in JDK1.3.1?

I downloaded a Java Communications API Win32 ver 2.0 from java.sun.com, and try to use it to do some programming to communication ports with JDK1.3.1.
I failed. When I tested with the samples (BlackBox, SimpleRead) coming with the javax.comm. It showed "no serial port found", something like that. I check the installation Instructions of the comm. package, it only described the installation under JDK1.1 and the pre-release version of JDK1.2. (and the installation of the same package in JDK1.1 and JDK1.2 are totally different.)I tried the specification with my JDK1.3, but it doesn't work.
Who knows how to install the Javax.comm package in JDK1.3.1? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thanks a lot.

This comes straight out of the FAQ that you got with your download:
Q: My application does not find any ports when it enumerates available ports.
Q: BlackBox gives me a message that says "No serial ports found!"
A: In order for the Java communications API to find ports the file
javax.comm.properties must be in the correct place. The preferred location
is in <jdk>/lib. See the installation instructions for alternate locations
    and further information.
Installation is very simple. Comm is a standard extension, so copy comm.jar to %JAVA_HOME%\jre\lib\ext
This is all in the docs....

  • Why apple does not help the scientific community?

I see that everybody are asking the same question about the ability of writing superscript or subscript in word processors on ipad.
The real question should be why such an expensive device does not meet the student and specially the scientific community. None of the program's used in ipad supports these most important features for any student. And I thin the reason would be the so itself since none of the program's have this feature. Therefore everyone just have to come up with different tricks to do the job that it should be so easy.

You are not talking to Apple here, just users.

    Hi Civilclerk1,
In order to achieve your requirement, we can try to use the following expression to instead the last_name column and first_name field:
    last_name: =iif(Fields! staff_role.Value="Lead Atty" or Fields! staff_role.Value="BK Mgr" or Fields! staff_role.Value="Partner" ,Fields! last_name.Value,nothing)
    first_name: =iif(Fields! staff_role.Value="Lead Atty" or Fields! staff_role.Value="BK Mgr" or Fields! staff_role.Value="Partner" ,Fields! first_name.Value,nothing)
Besides, if we don’t want see the blank row in the tablix, we can add a filter as below in the tablix:
    Expression:=iif(Fields! staff_role.Value="Lead Atty" or Fields! staff_role.Value="BK Mgr" or Fields! staff_role.Value="Partner" ,1,0)
    Operator:=

  • The Help Link from the Application Pages Does not Work for Peoplesoft Campus Solutions 9.0

    Hi everyone.
I have a problem, I have been trying to set up the Help Link from the Application Pages for Peoplesoft Campus Solutions 9.0 according to the instructions given in the Document: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17566_01/epm91pbr0/eng/psbooks/EnablingtheHelpLinkfromApplicationPages.pdf ,  (referenced in the Doc ID 1289101.1, E-PB: How to Set Up the Context Sensitive Help with Hosted PeopleBooks using Universal Linking).
I follow the instructions of that document carefully:
I go to: PeopleTools -> Web Profile -> Web Profile Configuration
        2. Then I choose the Web Profile: "Development".
        3. Then Change the value for the Help URL field by entering the following URL format: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hrcs90r5 , the ctx parameter selected is the one that correspond to  the Campus Solutions (hrcs90r5) according to the Product Line Code Table (ULinkID) especified in the mentioned document.
        4. Stop the Web Domain and Clear cache.
        5. Start the Web Domain again.
After setting up the Web Profile Configuration I test the help links, thas is why I click in the Help link in any Peoplesoft CS 9.0 Application Page (modify a person), but the next error message appears: "We're sorry, the topic you requested was not found.".
I tried many combinations with the ctx parameters URL but it does not work yet.
I did the same test, but this time using the Help URL field with a HRMS ctx parameter by entering the following URL format: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hcm92pbr5 , and It works fine !!!
According to the previous test you realize that It works with HRMS ctx parameter but not with Campus Solutions 9.0 ctx parameter,  Does anybody know what else can I do ? Am I doing anything wrong or missing? or maybe the Oracle's ctx parameter for Campus Solutions URL It is broken simply.
Thanks for you help and feedback.

2799444 - The page you are testing with appears to be a Workforce Administration page. Is that correct?
The CS PeopleBooks would only work for CS pages, e.g.: try navigating to Main Menu > Campus Community > Personal Information > Add/Update a Person
Also, you can use multiple ctx parameters:
    E.g.: http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?id=%CONTEXT_ID%&ctx=hrcs90r5&ctx=hcm92pbr5&ctx=pt852pbh2
This way the help would work for the HR related pages like Workforce Administration, Campus Solutions pages like Campus Community and also PeopleTools pages like Web Profile Configuration. Hope this clarifies your question. Thanks!

  • Overflow in the CAN communication chip

    Hi,
I received this error from a CAN Read vi :
    This error -1074388920 occurs in : CAN Read (Multi-Chan Single-Samp 1D Dbl).vi
    - NI-CAN:  (Hex 0xBFF62048) Overflow in the CAN communication chip.  This error occurs when frames are received back-to-back for long periods.  Solutions: Set Series 2 Filter Mode to filter out frames; Dedicate entire CAN card to receive high busload (transmit with 2nd card, receive another network with 2nd card instead and 2nd port).
The can communication is initialised with no frequency, so it gets each new frame. We use only one interface of the can CARD, so we can't add a 2nd card for high busload problem.
We try to put the filter mode parameter to Series 2 in the can init, but nothing change, perhaps I made a mistake here.
The loop which gets data from can runs at 200Hz. Our hardware send data to this interface at an higher frequency. But with our initialisation type of the can, we should get the last read value?
    Our Hardware & Software:
    Labview RT 8.0
    Ni-CAN 2.3.2
Use of a PXI with an MXI-4 card in the RT target.
    PXI-8461 Series 2 CAN card
    If someone have any advice...
    Best Regards
    Julien

    Hi Julien,
First off, I would upgrade to the latest driver that supports your LabVIEW version.  In this case, I believe it is version 2.5.2.
Then, I would look at the Series2 filter mode example from the example finder (its in the frame API folder, but the same settings can be used in the channel API...its just a nice tutorial like example to look at).  It sounds like you enabled filtering, but if you did not change the default mask/comparator, you will receive everything...so even though the filters are enabled, they are not doing anything.
Let me know if that helps.
