Help with copy list item workflow in SPD 2013

Hello
i just can't find anywhere to help me on the web with workflows, I am very new to this.
I have 2 custom lists.
First list, 3 columns:
'date received' (date)
'student name' (text field)
'hearing' (yes/no)
When a new item is added, I enter text for student name and the date. Then I set 'hearing' to yes or no.
If yes, I would like a workflow to copy the student name for to the second list.
In the second list, I have 2 columns (so far):
'student name' (text field)
'student number' (text field)
I just have no idea where to start to do this. Could someone please help?

Hi ,
If you mean that you don't want to create duplicate items in list2 when you edit the item in list1 mutiple time, you can try adding another "if" condition contained within your above "if" block to determin if the current
item "student name" equals to "student name" from list2, if yes then update the that item in list2, if no, then crate a new item in list2.

Help with Multiselect List Item

Assuming one employee can work for multiple departments, I want to display the departments employee 7844 works for preselected in a multiselect list.
I am using the following query statement in a report region.

The result I am seeing is a multiple multiselect lists with one department selected in each list.

I set up a test case in exactly the same way and it worked fine for me. I created a page item called P1_DA_DEMO and added some static select list values then added some help text. The settings I used are below, I suggest you try again but also make sure you have no other Javascript errors on the page. Use a tool like firebug to check.

Even: Click
Selection type: Item(s)
Item(s): P1_DA_DEMO <- a selection list item
Condtion: - No Condition -
True Actions

Help with select list item and dynamics action

G'Day Apex Gurus,
I having problems trying to achieve to trigger the help window of a select item automatically. A help window is triggered when the select item label is clicked but my client would like to be triguered automatically as soon as the user click to see the options in the select list.
I think that I should be able to do it with dynamic actions but I can not get it to work.
I know when someone click on the label of the select list item trigger this JavaScript

So I want to trigger the javascript also when the user click of the select list item and pull down the options and for that I think that Dynamic actions is the way to go but I can't get it right.
This is what I a doing:
I created a Dynamic option as follow:

Item(s): P1_RATING <- a selection list item
Condtion: - No Condition -
True Actions
Sequence: 10
Action : Execute JavaScript Code

Error when running workflow form list item - workflow manager SharePoint 2013

I am getting the following error in the workflow services log when I tried to run a SPD 2013 workflow from as list item. The workflow page comes up with an "An unexpected error has occurred"
page when opened:

Can't find anything on google.
Edit: Ok, when I look at the error, it is saying the the "GetInstances" stored procedure in the WFInstanceManagementDB database does not have a parameter named "@OtherWorkflowStatus".
For laughs, I added the parameter (which wasn't in there). Now I get the error:
Procedure or function 'GetInstances' expects parameter '@OtherWorkflowStatus', which was not supplied
It seems like there is something not right about my installation. Previously, I couldn't get the workflow backend service to run because there were config values missing from the workflow manager database. At the time I tried to uninstall/reinstall
WFM to no avail. I eventually had to manually add the values to get it to work. Something is not right about the WFM install/config process.

Here is what I had to do to get it working:
Leave the WFM (Workflow Manager) farm using the WFM config tool
Uninstall WFM, Service Bus, and the CU's from control panel
Uninstall Workflow Manager Client if it exists in the control panel, it didn't in mine
Delete the following databases in SQL Server:
SbGatewayDatabase
SbManagementDB
SBMessageContainer01
WFInstanceManagementDB
WFManagementDB
WFResourceManagementDB
Delete the workflow proxy service in Central Admin (important)
Application Management > Manage Service Applications
Highlight (select) the Workflow Service Application Proxy service (don’t click the hyperlink)
Select “Delete” from the ribbon.
Restart the server
Reinstall
Enable the workflow proxy service in CA for the web app, the 2013 workflow option will not show up in SPD unless you do this.
Application Management > Manage Web Applications
Select your web app
Select “Service Connections” from the ribbon
Check the Workflow Service Application Proxy item and click “OK”

From your post, it seems that you are using SharePoint 2013 workflow platform in SPD.
If that is the case, we can use Call HTTP web service action to get the item data, but we cannot use Call HTTP web service to create a new item in the list in another web application with these data.
As my test, we would get Unauthorized error when using Call HTTP web service action to create a new item in a list in another web application.
So I recommend to achieve this goal programmatically.

SPD 2013 - Copy Document action - how do you update the copied list item's metadata?

SharePoint 2013 Designer no longer has the Copy List Item Action, it only has a Copy Document action. It seems that this action provides no way of saving the copied documents list item ID. How do you update the list item after it has been copied??
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to copy the list item in SharePoint 2013.
The Copy List Item is
available only on the SharePoint 2010 Workflow platform, you can create a SharePoint 2010 workflow using the SharePoint 2010 workflow platform to achieve it.
You can also use the Content and Structure to copy the list items: Site Settings->Site Administration->Content and Structure.

I use “Copy List Item Extended Activity” in my workflow to move items to special folder in document library.it’s ok. But when I use this action to move items in special folder in list, it dose not work! Why?
This action only work with document library to move or copy items?
If not, how I can address special folder of list in “this url” in Copy List Item Extended Activity action?

when copying/moving files in and out of doc. libs, path to a sub folder can be specified as the destination (ex. http://moss/site/doclib/subfolder)
if should you already done this step, then please have a check the permission from the user account that you use, do the user account
have the enough permission on that other URL.

You should first check whether the folder exists in the library, if the folder not exists, then create it.

Debugging XSLT of Business Data List web part in SPD 2013

I am working on a Business Data List web part in SPD 2013. I want to customize that complex XSLT that got generated by the web part. It will be really helpful, if I can debug that XSLT. But I am not sure, how to debug XSLT from SPD? If at all, I need to
debug through Visual Studio also, I need the XML also, which I don't have. Can anyone please help?

XSLT debugging , I have never heard abt it. Its like UI design and you modify it and test it in Browser. Thats the only way.

The Create List Item workflow action does not work in document library with document template

My end goal is more complex but below is a basic example of the issue I’m having that just simply does not work.
I'm trying to use a site workflow to create an item in a document library that has a document template applied to it but the file that gets created by the workflow is corrupt and cannot be opened.
I created a document library and edited the document template by adding some text to the header and changing it to a Word docx file instead of a Word dotx file. I tested the document template by clicking the files tab in the ribbon and then clicking new
document which opens the document template in Word and allows me to edit and save the document back to SharePoint. Then I created a SharePoint 2013 site workflow in SharePoint Designer that contains a single Create List Item action, and that action creates
an item in the document library with the name field statically defined. I published the workflow and then manually start it on the site. The workflow completes successfully and when I navigate to the document library the document has been created by the workflow.
When I click on the document to open it in the Word Web App it throws the error pictured below and if I open it in the Word client application it just opens a blank document and not the correct document template.
I also tried using a SharePoint 2010 workflow with pretty much the same results. Opening the document in Word Web App gives the same error as above and opening the document in the Word client application gives the error pictured below.
Come on Microsoft creating a Word Document in a SharePoint Document Library from a SharePoint Workflow should just work! Is this a bug or does anyone have any ideas on what is causing the this issue?

I had the same problem with corrupted document - this worked for me:
1. Create a 2010 Workflow which creates the list element in a document library
(you may start this workflow from your 2013 workflow if applicable)
2. In the Create New List Item properties - make sure to set ContentTypeId to your content type
("Id for indholdstype" is Danish for "Contenttype ID")
3. Your Content Type template should be a ".docx" file - NOT a ".dotx" file...!
(I have always created my templates for content types as .dotx files - seems Microsoft wants us to use ordinary .docx files as template files for content types)

Javascript help to copy selected items from one list to another list on same site

So I have a request that I am not sure how to handle. I have created a page with a list view webpart that displays all the items from one list.
The user is then supposed to select off multiple list items and click on a button (most likely a ribbon button) that will take the selected items and copy them to another list on the same SharePoint site.
I would like to do this with JavaScript, but have only found an example that copies library items to another library.

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to copy selected list items to another list.

Help with copying contents of file to link list please

Hi,
Below is a snippet of code I am playing with. As you can see I have created a LinkList, I now need to copy the contents of a csv file in to that list. The file is several lines long and I need each line in the list.
I know how to add to the list manually i.e.,

I looked at your code and I thought, what's the question for, it's already adding lines to the list. And then I looked again and had the same thought. The third time I looked I noticed you didn't code the loop that read all the lines from the file. Silly me, I thought your question had something to do with linked lists.
Anyway, to answer your real question, which is how do you read all the lines from a text file:while ((s = bufReader.readLine()) != null) {

Help on Copy Finder Items

This is the problem:
I have a Toshiba USB Flashdisk formatted with a Windows format (so that both Mac and PC can read/write it).
I have a folder inside Documents where I want to backup to my flashdisk regularily (i'll plug in the drive, and then run the automator workflow).
It worked well when I first made this, but some time ago, it won't copy ALL the files. It'll only copy some of the files/folders which makes it fustrating.

I've also found that after an upgrade to Lion an Automator script I've been using to back up my Entourage 2008 identity to a USB drive no longer works, failing with a report that Copy Finder Items couldn't copy to the destination (which it had been happy doing under Snow Leopard).
I had saved the workflow as an application in the Utilities folder. First of all I also discovered that the Utilities folder permissions had been set differently, with "system" as the owner and as the only account with Read & Write permissions. I had to change the folder permissions and then having opened the "application" in Automator had to unlock it there too.
I've tried changing the destination of the copy to local locations like my account's Desktop or Downloads folders but still the script fails with a "Copy Finder Items can't copy ... to this destination" message.
The script is essentially the one described here:

but set up as an application rather than an iCal repeating event. Once I've quit all the Microsoft applications (by running the first part of the script), Finder allows me to drag the Entourage "Main Identity" folder to the folder on the USB drive to make a copy so at that level the permissions (and disk space) are ok.
Any suggestions welcome!
